Winter's POV 

 

 

Kanina pa kami naghihintay sa labas ng emergency room hanggang ngayon wala pa ring update tungkol kay Karina. Hindi ko mapigilang magalit sa sarili ko, kasalanan ko to kung hindi ko pinahiram sa kanya yung kotse ko..hindi sana ito mangyayari. 

 

 

Ako dapat ang nasa loob at hindi siya. 

 

 

God. 

 

 

I know..I'm not religious but I'm begging you please save her. I'll do anything just save her. 

 

 

"her parents is on their way, sinabihan ko rin si yeji." Ryujin sat beside me naramdaman ko ang kamay niya sa likod ko. "she will be okay, badi." 

 

 

i hope so. 

 

 

hindi ko mapapatawad ang sarili ko kapag may nangyaring masama sa kanya.

 

 

 

I was just staring at the floor i couldn't see things clearly because I've cried too much. My eyes are swollen, sobrang sakit ng puso ko. The moment I saw Karina earlier, I felt like my whole world have collapsed. 

 

 

Why does it have to be her? 

 

 

Please. 

 

 

Save Karina. 

 

 

 

Napatingin ako sa entrance ng emergency room umaasa ako na may lalabas na isa sa kanila at sasabihin sa amin na safe na si Karina. 

 

 

I don't know what will I do kung mawawala siya sa akin. Not her. Not the woman who taught me what love really means. 

 

 

"Winter! w-what happened to Karina?" napatayo ako ng tumakbo papalapit sa akin si tita. "what happened to her?!" she was crying and I couldn't help myself but to cry again kahit na pakiramdam ko na drain na lahat ng luha ko. 

 

 

She almost fell down but I'm glad Tito was behind her to assist her. Tito was trying his best to be strong. 

 

 

 

"tita..i'm.." napalunok ako. "i'm sorry.." hindi ko napigilan ang sarili ko at napaluhod ako sa harap nila. 

 

 

 

Earlier today I just gave my word to them. I promised them I'll take care of Karina but now look what happened..I broke my promise. I wasn't able to protect her. 

 

 

 

"winter..stand up.." tito grabbed my shoulder at pinatayo niya ako. I couldn't look at them knowing na ako yung reason kung bakit nangyari to kay karina. Tita sat on the bench, Aeri was trying to comfort her. "this..this is not your fault.." naramdaman ko na para akong sinasaksak ng paulit ulit sa dibdib. "no one..wanted this to happen, winter.." napayuko si tito, he was so close in breaking down but he was trying to be strong in front of us, in front of her wife. 

 

 

 

 

"tito..i'm sorry it's.." 

 

 

 

"sshh. let's pray. karina doesn't give up easily.." I know how hard he was trying to be stronger. I'm sorry for failing you, tito. 

 

 

 

 

Napatingin kaming lahat ng lumabas ang doctor sa emergency room. "how is she?" agad kong tanong sa kanya, napabuntong hininga naman yung doctor. "t-tell me she's okay.." I couldn't read him.

 

 

 

"how's my daughter?" lumapit na rin si tita sa kanya. 

 

 

 

"don't worry, she's safe.." para kong nabunutan ng tinik sa dibdib narinig ko. "for now." dagdag niya. 

 

 

what. 

 

 

 

"what do you mean doc?" tito asked. 

 

 

 

"we need to see how she will do for the following days. we don't know yet kung kailan siya gigising." 

 

 

. 

 

 

"can i talk to you at my office?" tito and tita went with the doctor, i was left there dumbfounded. 

 

 

hindi nila alam kung kailan siya magigising. 

 

 

"winter.." lumapit sa akin ang mga kaibigan ko. 

 

 

"this is all my fault.." hindi ko mapigilang maiyak ulit, my head was hurting so bad because of too much crying but i don't care. this is nothing compared to the pain that karina had to go through. 

 

 

"badi.." niyakap nila ako. 

 

 

I never been this weak before not in front of my friends not in front of anyone. 

 

 

"excuse me." napatingin kami ng may mga police officer na dumating. "who's kim minjeong?" tanong nung isang pulis. 

 

 

"i'm minjeong." pinunasan ko ang luha ko at hinarap sila. 

 

 

"ikaw ang registered owner nung bmw na dinadrive ni Miss Karina Yoo." tumango lang ako. "pwede ka ba namin makausap?" napatingin ako sa mga kaibigan ko i told them na they can just wait until bumalik sila tito. 

 

 

Sumama ako sa mga pulis dinala lang nila ako sa isang office sa hospital para makausap nila ako. 

 

 

"we are just gonna ask you questions para sa investigation." I just nodded. "Bakit si Miss Yoo ang nagdadrive ng kotse mo?" 

 

 

 

They gave me a bottle water. "We went out with her parents earlier today. Her parents went home first kaya naiwan kami ni Karina so we decided na mamasyal muna sa mall. I forgot na may usapan kami ng mga kaibigan ko kaya hindi ko siya naihatid. She doesn't have her car with her so instead na mag taxi siya.." napahinto ako. i felt another stab on my chest when i remembered telling her na it'll be safe to drive on her own. 

 

 

 

it took me few minutes before i could speak up again. "i told her.. it's safer to use my car instead.." hindi ko napigilan ang sarili, i cried again. 

 

 

i'm so sorry, adi. 

 

 

"she called me.." napatingin sa akin yung officer. "she told me..hindi gumagana ang break and she's going too fast..she didn't know what to do.. neither am i.." i could still hear her voice..and it's killing me that i couldn't do anything for her. 

 

 

 

"..and i heard a loud honk then the call was dropped.." napayuko ako at napahawak sa dibdib ko it's hurting so much. nanlalabo ang paningin ko dahil sa luha ko. it hurts so bad. 

 

 

 

One of the officer gave me a tissue. They were waiting for me to calm down bago sila magsalita. 

 

 

 

"Miss Kim." the officer called me. "what happened to Miss Yoo wasn't an accident." napatingin ako sa kanya. 

 

 

 

"what do you mean..?" 

 

 

"during the investigation kanina they noticed that the brake lines was intentionally destroyed." the officer showed me a picture of the brake lines. "as you can see here hindi siya natural cause you see the cuts there?" 

 

 

alam kong impossible din na mawalan ng break ang kotse ko dahil never ako pumalya sa maintenance non palagi kong sinisigurado na ayos lahat ng parts. 

 

 

"we concluded na you were the target  ang hindi lang inexpect nung gumawa nito was the fact na hindi ikaw yung nasa kotse." 

 

 

 

who could have done this? 

 

 

 

"we got a report before na someone threw a rock on your car's window while you were driving. we are checking if what happened today was related to that incident. may mga nag iimbestiga na rin sa may parking area ng restaurant kung saan niyo iniwan ang kotse mo. we'll give you an update with that." 

 

 

hindi ko alam paano ipoprocress lahat. i thought napagtripan lang ako before but this..this was too much. 

 

 

 

"do you have any idea who could have done this? may mga nakaaway ka ba?" napailing ako. 

 

 

"no. i don't remember na may kaaway ako." which was true it's been a while since i got in to fights or such and it's not even a serious fight. 

 

 

 

"Miss Kim. Thank you for today, we'll investigate this thoroughly and we'll make sure to catch the person behind this." i couldn't say anything anymore. 

 

 

suddenly, i was too tired to speak. 

 

 

I was the target? 

 

 

What else should I feel? 

 

 

I am feeling more guilty than before. 

 

 

That could have been me and not Karina. 

 

 

Clearly, I was the one to blame. It was all my fault. 

 

 

 

 

"Winter." sinalubong ako ng mga kaibigan ko paglabas ko ng office. "what happened?" they asked worriedly. 

 

 

I lost all my strength that where I fell on my knees. Crying, again.
