Kyuhyun looked up in surprise at the reflection of the doorway on the mirror in front of him when he heard his name. More than the doorway, it was the sight of the woman standing there that got him grinning widely in just a second.
“What? How are you here?!” He asked, standing up from his chair and quickly embracing his closest friend in greeting. “I thought you said rehearsals were too busy and you couldn’t make it?”
Heeyoung shrugged with a smile. “I won’t be able to watch today, but I had enough time to get here and wish you good luck as your musical sunbae.”
“Ah, yes, thank you, sunbaenim.” Kyuhyun bowed exaggeratedly, laughing when she hit his arm and told him to stop. “You didn’t have to go, though. Shouldn’t you rest when you have the time?”
“But it’s your musical debut!” Heeyoung exclaimed. “Of course, I had to be here. And I brought you a gift!” She passed him the paper bag she was holding, the shape of it familiar enough for him to know what it was without looking.
“Wow, you really got me wine.” He grinned at the box inside. “You don’t even understand wine.”
“Exactly.” She sighed and shook her head. “I had to ask another sunbae who knows something about it to see what I could get you because I wasn’t going to give you flowers. Plus you could share this with your fellow actors or take it home yourself!”
One of the other cast members in the room put an arm around Kyuhyun’s shoulders in a brotherly show of affection. “Oooh, Kyuhyun-ah. Is that wine? The good kind?”
“Yes, hyung.” Kyuhyun answered. “Ah, this is my friend, by the way. Kim Heeyoung.”
“Oh? Wait, I know your name.” The man scrunched his eyebrows in thought. “Weren’t you one of the lead actresses in that play a while back? Agnes of God?”
Heeyoung’s eyes widened at being recognized and she nodded slowly. “Yes, I was. Did you watch it?”
“I loved it!” He gushed excitedly, making Kyuhyun flinch at the volume. “Wow, you were all amazing. I’m a fan.”
“Thank you.” She nodded her head in a small bow, slightly turning red from the praise. “I look forward to watching your stage someday.”
“You’re not watching today?” He asked.
Kyuhyun shook his head. “She’s so good she’s already busy preparing for her next play. Is it a musical this time too?”
“A musical.” She confirmed. “I just came here to wish Kyuhyun good luck and then I have to go.”
The older male actor looked between the two of them for a second, a suggestive smile that the other two failed to notice was growing on his face. He opened his mouth to say something, but the door opening stopped him.
“Eomeoni!” Heeyoung greeted first, smiling brightly at the older woman that just entered while waving excitedly to Kyuhyun's father who entered behind her. She quickly linked arms with her and looked like a typical mother and daughter chatting with each other.
“Ah, Heeyoung-ie is also here then. I knew it.” Kyuhyun’s mother commented with a knowing smile, gently patting the hand that was resting on her arm. “Kyuhyun told me you won’t be able to go here today, but something told me you would be able to find a way.”
Kyuhyun quickly moved to greet his parents with a hug. “She’s still not going to watch, omma.”
“Speaking of which,” Heeyoung said, looking at the watch on her wrist. “I have to go now if I want to get to my schedule in time.”
Kyuhyun nodded and began ushering her out. “Omma, appa, I’ll just bring Heeyoung to the exit, okay?”
“You don’t have to. I got here by myself.” She muttered, rolling her eyes as Kyuhyun kept following her outside. “Nice to see you! We should have dinner sometime again.” Heeyoung waved goodbye to his parents one last time at the doorway before walking away.
The other actor bowed to greet Kyuhyun’s parents who he met once a couple of weeks ago when they visited during rehearsals. “Those two seem close.”
The older man laughed, as if hearing an inside joke, glancing at the door his son had disappeared into. “They are. Best friends, they would say.”
“Kyuhyun-ah!”
“Aren’t you supposed to be preparing to go on stage now?”
“Technically, that also applies to you. So, why did you answer the phone?”
“I still have half an hour left. Your show starts soon. I think I can hear the announcements for the audience already.”
“Okay, I’m so, so, so sorry I just wanted to wish you good luck for your solo debut stage. So annoying, I didn’t get to do my tradition. But, obviously, you’re still going to do well.”
“Of course, I am.”
“Are any of the Suju oppas there with you? Didn’t Donghae oppa say he’ll be going to visit?”
“Yup, he’s here right now, he says hi. Yesung hyung is here as well.”
“Aww, look at Super Junior being my favorite show window group. Be sure to post a picture later, okay?”
“I’ll try. You should go prepare for your show.”
“Yeah, the manager is glaring at me now. I’ll watch your performance later after I’m done. See you soon! Enjoy!!”
“Thanks, Heeyoung-ah. You have fun, too!”
