For most of the day, the two were a little awkward, they didn’t want to make their relationship obvious to Hongjoong’s parents as it would make things awkward for Taehwan with Hongjoong’s father.

But as Taehwan observed Hongjoong around his family he could feel his love for the boy growing more and more, and it scared him a lot, especially because his current mission was scary and dangerous.

The night when dinner came around the four were gathered around the table, Hongjoong listened as Taehwan and his father talked about their work, and about Taehwan’s current mission.

Hongjoong didn’t understand much but he could figure it was quite dangerous since his father seemed really worried about Taehwan, especially after the older got shot once before, his father even suggested removing Taehwan from the mission but the older refused.

After dinner, they had some cake and then went to prepare Hongjoong’s room for Taehwan to stay over. The two prepared some blankets and then just sat on Hongjoong’s bed.

They didn’t speak just enjoyed the silence.

“Hyung is your mission really dangerous?” Hongjoong asked, breaking the silence between them, Taehwan hummed a little.

“Yeah, we are trying to infiltrate the biggest mafia organization in Seoul right now, a bunch of undercover cops from different stations is working together but doing that means we can’t be ourselves or really live our own lives, even now me being here is dangerous, being with you… that’s dangerous as well” Taehwan said, he never wanted to admit it, being with Hongjoong has made him feel like a normal human being again but when he admitted that it was dangerous being with Hongjoong that’s when it sunk in, he shouldn’t be with the boy, at least not right now.

“You boys should get to bed, you have to wake up early to get back home tomorrow,” Hongjoong’s mom said popping her head into the room before leaving again.

The two didn’t say anything else, they took turns washing up, Taehwan went first and hongjoong followed once the older came out, Taehwan laid down on Hongjoong’s bed for a while, he was trying to figure out what he should do, it has been on his mind for quite a long time, his love for Hongjoong just kept growing, which caused him to worry more that something would happen to the boy if they stayed together.

Before he knew it he fell asleep when Hongjoong came into the room and saw Taehwan asleep, he smiled a little and turned off the light and climbed into bed next to the boy and covered them with the blanket, he fell asleep soon after.

It was around 3 am when Taehwan woke up in a cold sweat, he came face to face with a sleeping Hongjoong and couldn’t help but smile a little, he reached out and moved the boy’s hair in front of his eyes, his heart felt like it was being ripped apart.

The nightmare he had only a few minutes ago, Hongjoong got kidnapped and he got badly injured, he hated it, he hated it because it could happen and if it happened it would happen because of him.

That’s when he decided, it broke his heart but he knew it had to be done, it was time to end it, for Hongjoong’s safety he had to, no matter how much he loved the boy, if something happened to him, he wouldn’t be able to live with himself.

So when they woke up and after having breakfast and getting ready to leave Taehwan suggested they take a walk after putting his things in his car.

The walk was a little quiet, Taehwan was spacing out for most of it, but when Hongjoong finally spoke up Taehwan decided it was time.

“Hyung what’s wrong?” Hongjoon asked the older, he picked up on it, the older had been out of it for the whole day since they woke up and he couldn’t help but worry.

“Joong-ah, I think we should break up,” Taehwan said softly, but Hongjoong still heard him, the younger stopped in his tracks and stared at the boy, he thought he heard wrong but the boy seemed serious.

“Why hyung? Is it because my father is your boss? Or do you not love me anymore? Did I do something wrong?” Hongjoong asked, he was on the verge of tears, he didn’t understand it, why now?

“No, it’s because I love you, it has nothing to do with your father, I love you so much that it scares me, it scares me that you will get hurt because of me, that something could happen to you, I can’t do that to you Joong, it’s too dangerous… we should end it here before I love you even more,” Taehwan said to the boy.

“No, no we shouldn’t end it hyung, why should we end it,” Hongjoong asked him, his heartbreaking even more than before.

“I’m sorry Joong, but I have no choice, it’s better if we stop it, let’s break up, I can’t take no as an answer, I’ll go now, may we meet under better circumstances in the future,” Taehwan said as he started walking away.

Hongjoong ran after him and held his hand, he handed the boy a small box he had in his pocket.

“Then take this hyung… it was meant for you, after all, so take it,” Hongjoong said before turning around and walking off in the opposite direction.

By the time Hongjoong got home Taehwan already left, and Hongjoong just told his mom that he will be staying a few extra days, Hongjoong went straight to his room and locked the door, and finally broke down.

For Taehwan he tried keeping it together but eventually he had to pull over as he couldn’t keep his tears in, he took out the small box Hongjoong gave him and opened it, he was met with the bracelet Hongjoong bought earlier, he smiled a little through the tears as he took it out and put it on.

They were both in so much pain, it felt like someone ripped their hearts out and just left them with a big empty hole in their chests, they both wished that in the future they could meet again and be together again.
