Bonding
I'm Not Alone Anymore"....Ow." Sowon glared at the kitten that was currently biting her arm while she was trying to look up stuff on her phone from the couch. SinB only growled playfully before letting go, running off the couch to do who knows what. Sowon sighed. The teeth marks in her arm weren't deep but they were turning red.
She turned her focus to the former kittens having a conversation on the floor, giggles and laughter erupting every so often when Yerin would reminisce and tell a funny story from their past as kittens that she was starting to remember again. It was nice to be home in the morning instead of in a stuffy lecture hall. Using her sick days this week was an impulse decision from fear of not being able to find Yuju when she was lost, but Sowon didn't regret it. Though her dad had ended up calling her, scolding her about missing "important" school days. Sowon had convinced her father that she was sick and that had been the end of it.
The urge to fight back and say what she personally wanted instead of persuing a business career had been tempting. That could wait for another time. She didn't know exactly what she wanted to do yet. But being a CEO wasn't what she wanted for her future, she knew that for sure. At least she had gotten a text from her mom wishing her a speedy recovery.
It had been two days since Yuju's curse had been broken and things were even livelier than before. Sowon hadn't expected Yuju to be just as energetic as Yerin and there were other sides to her that would come out. She could be mature like Sowon but she could join in with Yerin's goofy actions without skipping a beat, sometimes being even louder than Yerin. She was so different from how she had been as a kitten.
The apartment had changed too, the old kitchen table being replaced with a larger one for all of them. The fridge was filled with more food than microwave meals, containing actual ingredients that Sowon liked to experiment with to make her cooking even better. Eunha liked to help by taste testing everything Sowon made, making the taller happy every time the short haired girl gave her a cute reaction. Yerin would help too, even if that meant she would steal samples while Sowon wasn't looking. Yuju at least would actually help Sowon with the meal, watching the time and telling the blonde when everything would need to be added or taken off the heat.
Music had entered the home as well, mostly in the form of Sowon's new favorite group Sunrise, and Sowon had heard Yuju humming along one day. The former gray kitten's voice was beautiful and Sowon enjoyed every time she got to hear it in passing. Sometimes Yuju would sing while they both cooked, and Sowon would join. That was something she looked forward to now whenever meal prep time came around.
The only things that hadn't changed were SinB and Umji, the two kittens still showing no signs of fully trusting Sowon. Umji still hid whenever she got the chance to and SinB.....well, SinB was a strange case. There were moments that Sowon thought she was making headway with her but then she was met with sharp claws in her skin. It was never malicious but it still hurt. It could be that SinB was just playing with her but it was difficult to figure out for sure. Whatever the case, it was obvious that they weren't about to turn back into their real selves anytime soon.
It wasn't just SinB's behavior that bothered her. Sowon still didn't really know much of anything about Yerin, Eunha or Yuju's past. When did they get cursed? Did they have parents? How old were they? When were their birthdays? It was all a mystery. That needed to change.
"Girls." Sowon tapped a location on her phone, checking how long the drive would take. 20 minutes, depending on traffic. The trio on the floor looked up as they were called. Sowon smiled at them, putting her phone in her pocket and feeling around for her wallet.
"How about we go somewhere and get something for dessert?"
"Something new?" Eunha seemed to like the sound of that, eyes glittering with eagerness. "What is it?"
"Do you remember ice cream?" Sowon stood up from the couch and took a hair tie from the coffee table, tying up her blonde hair in a low ponytail. "I was thinking I'd get you all some today. There shouldn't be too many people out either since its a weekday."
"Ice cream!" Yerin yelled, jumping to her feet. Yuju got up as well, adjusting her white shirt with the cartoon puppy on it that Yerin had picked out during their past shopping trip. It really did suit her.
"What about SinB and Umji?" Yuju gave a worried glance to the two kittens, SinB currently trying to grab at Umji's tail. Umji scooted away a few feet but SinB persisted, pouncing on the brown striped kitten. Umji hissed and ran to Sowon's bedroom, SinB meowing and following behind her, trying to get her to play.
"They'll be fine." Sowon chuckled, taking her car keys off of the wall hook next to the door, opening the door for all of them but making sure the duo of kittens didn't escape while it was open. "Who wants to sit in front with me this time? Yerin, you got to yesterday so its your turn to be in the back."
"No fair." Yerin whined, leaning on Yuju's shoulder. Yuju patted Yerin's cheek, taking her hand to guide her outside where Sowon's car was waiting.
"I'll sit in the back with you, Yerin." Yuju smiled and Yerin seemed content with that, clinging to Yuju and placing a small kiss against Yuju's cheek.
"Yay! It's my turn today!" Eunha exclaimed as she ran past the others, happily making her way to the front seat of the car with bouncing steps.
The drive was longer than the group was used to but they all found ways to keep themselves entertained. Sowon had the local radio again, tapping her index finger against the steering wheel to the rhythm while she drove. Both Yerin and Yuju were singing in the back seat, both used to the familiar song playing on the radio since Sowon had it playing in the house constantly. Yerin made a funny expression at Yuju and the former gray kitten stopped singing and burst out into laughter, wrapping her arms around Yerin. Eunha bopped her head to the music while staring out the window, a content smile on her face. If only SinB and Umji could be with them right now. Then this moment would be complete.
Speaking of the two, Sowon was conflicted on what to do once they turned back. Her car only seated four people, not six. Asking her father for a new car was doable, her father always did want her to upgrade. Could she explain the extra seats without sounding too suspicious? She could always say she wanted more room for friends. It wasn't a complete lie.
Thankfully, they had finally arrived at the shopping center where the ice cream shop was located. Sowon didn't want to think about anything else but getting to k
