The Restaurant

The pretty bunette froze in her place after hearing what Yujin just said to her dad. Is Yujin really resigning? This fast?

Minjoo started to feel like her chest was stuffy as she tried to hold her tears. Well maybe Yujin didn't really mean that she is resigning by saying that it's about time for her to leave. It could be that just she wanted to leave to the convenience store, right? She just wanted to believe that eventhough it was very stupid at the time, because deep inside she already knew that Yujin meant she wanted to leave the restaurant. But Minjoo just wanted to deny it as much as she could. The brunette decided to stay in her hideout to listen more to Yujin and her dad's conversation to be sure before she let her tears flow down her cheeks. "Please think thoroughly and let me know when the appropriate time is," Mr. Kim replied as he sighed. "Oh, we'll be lonely when you leave," At this point, Minjoo couldn't hold it anymore, she ran back upstairs to her room, slamming her door closed and locked it. She started to cry in silence because she didn't want her dad and especially Yujin knew she was crying. Eventhough it's probably not possible, she just couldn't stop wishing that the three of them could work happily forever and she hated herself for that, because she knew that it will only hurt her, exactly like now. Minjoo walked to her bed laid down, and hugged her teddybear. Her mind started to wander around as she finally could control her sadness. She forced herself to think logically eventhough she knew that it would be difficult because she was very emotional at the time. Frist of all, why was she so sad that Yujin is leaving to the point that she cried a lot? The brunette traveled back to her conversation with Sakura yesterday and couldn't help to think of the japanese girl's one question. Was she afraid of losing a talented chef in the restaurant or was she afraid of losing a person that she likes? If she was just scared of losing an ace employee, would she be this sad? ........ "What is that loud girl doing in here?" Sakura scowled the minute she saw Yena walking up to them. Minjoo who was sitting next to the japanese girl just let out a small laugh. Sakura and Yena have met a few days a go when Yena was helping in the restaurant. They just couldn't stand each other's presence since then. It mostly because Sakura thought Yena is just another annoying obnoxious extrovert and Yena believes Sakura is just another mean girl who would judge every single soul with her piercing eyes. "You'll grow to like her eventually unnie, and Yena Unnie is a big help throughout the festival," Minjoo said as she waved her hands to the ponytailed girl to welcome her. Yena who saw the brunette waving at her ran playfully to the group's direction. "Everyone annyeong!!" she greeted the group after hugging Minjoo. "Ahjusshi-deul, have you been well?" she turned to ask Sakura's dad and Mr. Kim. Yena have met Sakura's dad several times when she was helping in the restaurant, and it turned out, they were both huge fans of baseball so they bonded pretty fast through that. Yena is also essentially very outgoing so she can get so close to people she just met in no time. But of course, a certain shorthaired girl is an exception. Sakura just couldn't stand Yena and it works the same way with the ponytailed girl. "Ah Yena-chan wellcome!" Sakura's dad greeted with the brightest smile on his face. He was excited to see Yena because she's the only young people he knew likes baseball as much as he is. The restaurant had closed due to the two nights three days Jeju-do trip. There were six of them, including Minjoo, Minjoo's dad, Yujin Yena, Sakura, and Sakura's dad. It was such a shame Sakura's mom couldn't make it because she has to go to the university staffs and lecturers workshop. "Okay, we're all here let's go in!" Mr. Kim said after looking around to make sure everyone's presence so they could go in the airport and check in for their flight. Minjoo walked next to Sakura who was busy with her phone. That bestfriend of hers has always been like that whenever she was in a badmood. Minjoo then looked at the two figures walking in front of her and sighed. One is responsible for making Sakura in a bad mood and one is accountable for making her heart jolted from its place whenever she caught her staring. Now looking at Yujin's back, Minjoo knew for sure that the chef could leave them anytime soon and she couldn't help but tear up whenever she thought of it. Ever since she overheard Yujin's conversation with her dad three days a go, she decided to act normal as if she had no idea about Yujin soon departure from their restaurant. She could never beg for Yujin to stay even if she really wanted ti do it because she shouldn't meddle with the latter's very own decision. So Minjoo decided to cherish every moments spent with Yujin until Yujin left for good. At least she would have tons of good memories with her. "Minjoo-ah?" Minjoo flinched a little when she felt someone who appeared to be Yeba tapped her shoulder. "Oh?" was her only response. "We need your ID," Yena said. "Oh? Arasseo," Minjoo replied as she looked around and just realized that they were already inside the airport ready to check in for their flight. Her eyes then met Yujin's who was staring at her and in split second, the brunette immediately looked down and began to search her sling bag for her ID. "Aigoo, were you dozing off again?" Mr. Kim said, waiting for Minjoo's ID. Minjoo just ignored her dad and handed hin her ID the minute she found it. "Here," she said. "Minjoo-ah, are you okay? Are you sick?" Yena asked, concerned about the brunette's jumpy behavior. "Are you scared of flying?" she asked again. "No unnie, I'm fine, I'm just-" there. She met eyes with Yujin again and her heart felt like it would burst out from rattling so fast. "I-eh, just excited for this trip!" she said excitingly. Taking all the Yujin is leaving stuffs aside, she is excited for the trip because it's her first vacation after years of working hard. "Me too! Thank you again for inviting me, I can't wait to eat black pork barbeque!" Yena replied. "Right Yujin-ah? Uri Yujinie is excited too right? Because it's her first time going to Jeju-do right?" Yena said, full of aegyo, decided to annoy the hell out of her bestfriend. Yujin closed her eyes and put on her earphone, blocking the disturbing sight in front of her. Not giving up, Yena clinged her hand to Yujin's, ready level up her aegyo game. She would never give up until Yujin gave her the reaction she wanted. An annoyed reaction. "Do that again and I'm gonna kick you out of the plane," Sakura butted in. She didn't want to see anymore Yena acting all cute as much as Yujin first thing in the morning. "How are you going to do that if we're not even on the plane yet?" Yena replied, sticking her tongue out. Sakura scoffed seeing how immature Yena was, not realizing that she, herself was also immature enough to pick a fight on the ponytailed girl. "It's a warning, you better watch out up there," "Ooohh I'm scared," Yena mockingly replied to Sakura's remark. Minjoo was so amused by Sakura and Yena's fight while Yujin couldn't be anymore careless with the childish fight happening in front of her. "You better be, ever heard a story of a man falling from 10,000 ft? Not a great story," Right when Yena was about to open to make another comeback, the two uncles who were on the check in counter earlier joined the girls to distribute their boarding passes. "Here are your boarding passes, Yena-chan you'll be sitting next to Yujin and Minjoo you'll be sitting next to Saku," Sakura's dad handed the girls their boarding passes. "Also, since most seats are taken, we don't get to sit next to each other," he added. Sakura immediately sighed in relief when she heard that. Sitting near Yena and her big mouth even just for an hour would be her eternal nightmare. "Oh, thank god," Sakura said and stared at Yujin with simpathetic eyes. Poor Yujin. She had to cope with Annoying Yena for the entire flight. "Goodluck, you did it for 10 years, compared to that, an hour is nothing," she said, patting Yujin's shoulder. "Yo, what's that supposed to mean?" Yena asked, but Sakura just gave her the cold shoulder. "Let's go all!! We're going to Jeju-do!!" Mr. Kim excitingly exclaimed. Afterall, he was the happiest one out of the bunch. His dream of winning the holiday packages had come true. ......... Minjoo couldn't stop eating the cookies she brought from home the minute the plane took off. She looked back to see Yujin who was wearing her earphone and reading the boring plane magazine and sitting next to her, Yena, was probably agitating the chef with her nonstop talking. The brunette looked away and sighed. So she's really leaving huh? How could she not tell her about her leaving plan? Minjoo thought that they've already close enough for Yujin to at least tell her about something as big as leaving the restaurant. She sighed again. What is wrong with her? She is supposed to be happy with the restaurant winning the festival and the holiday prize, but she was feeling so blue and she hated it. She hated the fact that this trip might be her farewell with Yujin. Minjoo obviously didn't want Yujin to leave. She would beg on her knees if it was necessary if she could. But she knew that blocking out a person to reach their goals is not the right thing to do. When Yujin first came to the restaurant, she already said that she wanted to experience as much as she could to eventually have her own restaurant. She didn't want to jeopardize that just because the selfish dream of her that the three of them will forever run the restaurant happily ever after. Beside, who was she to Yujin that she could ask for such favor? She might be just another acquaintance she would lost contact to after not seeing each other for sometimes. Minjoo let out a frustration groan. She looked at her right to see Sakura being caught up with her ipod. Maybe she should really ask her for some advice. She had been restraining herself to tell Sakura about what happened because she wanted to figure it out by her own. But it seemed like she couldn't. So the brunette tapped the Japanese girl's shoulder to shift her attention from her ipod. "Unnie," she called almost in a whisper. "Hmm?" Sakura replied, not even shifting her eyes from her ipod. Minjoo gulped hard and took a deep breath. She must let everything out from her chest to Sakura so that she could enjoy the vacation without getting caught up with her thought about Yujin. "I need to talk about something," she said rather hesitantly. The japanese girl took off her earphone and turned over to look at her bestfriend and let out a heavy sigh. "Finally you're talking!" "Huh?" Minjoo confusedly stared at Sakura, not knowing what she meant. "I've been waiting for you to talk since three days ago! Did you really think I don't realize that something's off with you? Geez, I might know you better than yourself. So what's the matter?" Sakura let out her frustration. She has been wanting to ask Minjoo what was going on since that bestfriend of hers has been acting all jittery, but she forced herself to wait since Minjoo probably was taking her time to deal with it by her own since she was acting like everything's normal when it's not. "Right? Who am I to hide something from you when you know me inside and out," Minjoo replied and took another bite of her chocolate cookie. "I-eh..." she paused and sighed. "Yujin is leaving the restaurant," she continued, earning a gasp from Sakura. "Jinjja? This fast? How did you know?" The japanese girl asked rather loudly. Minjoo slapped Sakura's hand to shut her up because Yujin and Yena were sitting just three seats behind them. "I heard her said that it's time for her to leave a few days ago to my dad," she whispered and pouted. Talking about it outloud apparently was as hard as when she thought of it. Sakura just nodded her head in return. "So are you sad that it came true?" she asked. The brunette didn't answer right away. Sakura took it as a yes. "Stupid question, no need to answer that, so what are you going to do?" She asked again. "I don't know..." "What do you mean by you don't know?" Minjoo sighed and bit her lip, reaching to her jar to take another cookie. "I mean, what am I supposed to do? She had made her decision and the decision is to leave, I... I can't meddle with that," she said with her voice shrinking at every words coming out from . "And why is that?" The japanese girl asked. "Because-because who am I to her to ask her to stay?" She blurted her frustration out. "Who am I to interfere with her life plan?" she added. Sakura sighed and shook her head. "Aigoo, what am I going to do with you?" she said, looking straight to Minjoo's eyes. "Minjoo-ah, be honest with me, did you finish your homework well? Have you found out if you like her or not?" The pretty brunette stared at Sakura for a moment and looked away. There was no point of denying it anymore. If liking someone is not what she's feeling right now, then she didn't know what it is anymore. She does feel everything Sakura had mentioned about. She felt like her heart would jump out of her chest whenever Yujin was near her and she couldn't stare at her for more than 5 seconds without her cheeks being redder than a tomato. So she just nodded her head while still looking away. Eventhough it was embarassing for her to let Sakura know, there was no point of hiding it from her anymore. Sakura's instinct is like a shark. She could smell if Minjoo was hiding something from her from miles away. "Jinjja? Wow, Uri Minjoo is all grown up now" Sakura chuckled. "What? Are you embarassed? There's nothing to be embarassed about with liking someone, it's really human," she said upon seeing Minjoo's face was redder than a tomato. "That's why Minjoo-ah, when you like someone, you surely don't want to lose them, and what does it take to make them stay? It's to ask them," she explained as if she was talking to a confuse five-year-old kid, because apparently Minjoo was all that behind that trying to act mature mask of her. "But how can I ask her that? It's not right to meddle with someone else's decision just for my personal preference," She replied, letting out her frustration. "And again, who am I to her really? Even Yena Unnie, her best friend, couldn't change her mind, she only knew me for what? Like two and a half months? I'm probably nothing to her," she added sadly. "And how are you so sure that you're nothing to her? You don't even know for sure, so why are you keep assuming?" The japanese girl rebutted. "But-" Minjoo was about to argue again but she knew more than anyone that Sakura is right. The girl is always right. "I'm scared," "What are you so scared of?" "I'm scared that if I ask her I wouldn't be able to cope with being rejected," she answered as she looked down. "Minjoo-ah look at me," Sakura said in a very serious tone. As much as she wanted to tease Minjoo at the time, she had to make her best friend gain her confidence and stand up for what she wanted. It was part of her job as her best friend and her full-time love guardian. Once Minjoo looked up to stare at her, Sakura began her lecture. "Being rejected is better than regretting that you didn't even make
