Calamity: This is a term used to describe an extra ability that an individual may possess at birth. A calamity is an ability integrated into one’s DNA, and although it is always possessed this may not be discovered until earlier adolescence ranging through young adulthood. Those with calamities are required to register this ability, but will have no other requirements unless this calamity is causing a problem. Individuals can report a calamity, and if deemed appropriate the reported will be detained and taken to containment.

Connected: This term describes a mental bond which certain individuals with calamities can develop between one another. Little is known about connections; however, it is believed that connected individuals are telekinetically liked in some fashion. Depending upon the strength of the connected individuals and their bond, connected can sense one another’s mental and physical states. Some have reported feeling their connected’s emotional and physical pain; in addition these individuals will possess a strong requirement to be near one another. If separated it will cause intense physical and emotional pain.

Caution Indication: This term describes a numbed ranging from 1-5 that is assigned to a calamity possessing individual upon registry. It represents how powerful the calamity is in addition to how dangerous the individual could possibly become under the proper circumstances. The levels are represented as follows:
    1- calamity  which could not not inflict harm
`    2- calamity which is unlikely to become dangerous
    3- calamity which may or may not become dangerous
    4- strong calamity which could become harmful if misused
    5- strong calamity which
