Hand in hand, two women were practically skipping towards a tree they have seen far too many times. The shorter woman is slightly leading the older one, but no real strength is needed to lead her.
“Is this really your plan?”
Joohyun couldn’t help but giggle as they take the last few hops stopping at the base of the tree.
“You really are a little cheeseball aren’t you?”
“Cheesy, romantic, I prefer the second one.” Wendy treated her hands like an old fashion scale. Wendy gave a cheeky smile before grabbing both of Joohyun’s hands and stared into her eyes. She has prepared a lot for this moment and made sure to rehearse what she wanted to say. Romantic lines usually came easily to her as Joohyun has learned the past two weeks, but Wendy wanted to ensure everything went perfectly.
“These last two weeks have been the happiest of my life. Not even just on a romantic level, but you have helped immensely with the bakery and I can’t help but wonder what I did to deserve this. My love for you is growing as fast as bamboo…”
Once Joohyun heard the comparison to a plant, she let go of Wendy’s hands, cupped her jaw and pulled her in for a kiss, their first of many to come.
“Just kiss me next time. I don’t need the botany comparisons.”
