A Resolve Through GrowthAugust 1st, 2014
“Because I know we’re written in the stars…”
Wendy made it a habit to occasionally come out and play her guitar for her dad, for the tree, for herself. She had forgotten her love for singing and music. When she revisited with the guitar a month ago, it felt like a world was waiting for her. One that felt new, but also nostalgic. She had started to work off the rust, but due to her long hiatus, she never really broke a few old habits like closing her eyes when she sang.
As she continued playing, a familiar bike to the park was passing through. The girl on the bike hadn’t planned on stopping, but in her nine years of passing the famed tree, she never saw someone under it, let alone relaxing under it. She had figured someone else was probably visiting the tree like she was because of their shared sign messages, but she never figured they would actually meet. She never really even considered trying, but at this moment, it was all that occupied her mind.
She hid her bike next to another tree and decided to approach the mysterious stranger, hoping to end the anonymity between them. The beautiful singing voice that carried throughout the park was the first thing she noted.
“What a beautiful voice.”
In some ways, she wanted to hide out and listen to the song more, but she wanted to meet the person behind the voice even more. She did take a few seconds to absorb the serenity of it all, but before she knew it, her feet were attracted towards the sound like a siren’s voice. She approached casually at first, but once she saw the girl had her eyes closed, she decided to sneak up on her.
Her rational mind would normally prevent her from trying to surprise a complete stranger, but she felt a bond with the person. Or maybe she just thought she was cute, she wasn’t sure. Luckily, it was summer, so the grass silenced her footsteps as she carefully approached the girl. She took a seat in front of the oblivious singer facing her directly a couple of feet away, making sure she isn’t violating any personal space, but close enough to say “I’m here to meet you”.
“Oh, we’re written in the stars…”
The singer let the final pluck of the strings play out until they silenced themselves. Once the wind was the only thing filling her ears, she finally opened her eyes. A beautiful face filled up a majority of her vision and she was stunned. Her beauty certainly added to her shocked reaction, but it was definitely the surprise of a stranger poppin
