Wendy felt the sun rays hitting her face…burning, annoying and bright. The curtains in the room barely covered half of the window. She was resting in a bed and couldn’t move, more like didn't want to move. She scanned the room slowly not leaving out any detail: white walls, empty shelves, an old TV and a desk covered in dust. This definitely wasn’t her room.

The memories came back in a blur as soon as she recovered her conscience completely. After taking a walk along the beach and having dinner at a cheap pizza restaurant, Joohyun took them to her house since Wendy and her sister, Sooyoung, couldn't get back to their own home, not after running away from it. Sooyoung ended up crashing in the main room with Joohyun while Wendy slept with Seulgi in the guest room. Joohyun parents weren’t around and they wouldn’t be for the whole summer, too busy traveling around the world to actually care for their only daughter.

Then, Wendy realized that Seulgi had her arms around her waist in a tight grip, spooning her from behind and making it difficult to move even a little bit. The ness of their bodies was evident, not even taking the time to cover themselves with a blanket. Wendy struggled to turn around until she was face to face with the young alpha. She was sleeping soundly, not a very rare habit for her since she could sleep through a earthquake. Wendy still couldn’t understand how she seemed so fragile in her sleep.

The marks she left the night before on Seulgi were obvious: scratches in her shoulders, bites alongside her neck and chest. Wendy felt a smile tugging at the corners of her lips but also a blush covering her cheeks. She surely had a few marks too, the soreness on her hips made it easy to realize that they went at it a little too hard for her liking. Sometimes neither of them could hold back their most primitive instincts

Wendy had no clue about the hour but a soft knock on the door pulled her out her daydream

"Wendy? Seulgi? Are you two awake?"

That was Joohyun. Her voice dulled behind the door

"You really don’t want to open that door, unnie. Not a good idea" Wendy said out loud, almost desperate

"I know" she giggled "We just woke up and Sooyoung wants some breakfast. If you’re hungry then we can wait for you"

"I’m good, enjoy your breakfast. Seulgi still sleeping and I want to wait for her"

"Okay then"

Wendy heard her unnie walking away from the door and softly scolding Sooyoung in the distance. Just a few minutes after, Seulgi started to wake up. Whining and awkwardly wriggling her way out of the hug. Her breath got a little heavier and she finally opened her eyes with a low groan

"Good morning, baby bear" Wendy smiled and left a short kiss on the tip of her nose. Her girlfriend looked so cute "Did you had a nightmare?"

"Mhm...not really, I dreamed you were going down on me"

A loud ‘smack’ filled the room after Wendy hit her alpha hard in the shoulder with an open hand. Seulgi laughed out loud and placed a loud kiss on Wendy's cheek

"You’re nasty" the beta girl pouted

"And you love it. Good morning by the way. Did you sleep well?" Seulgi replied, stretching her arms above her head

"Yeah, best sleep I had in weeks. You seemed to enjoy it too"

"You don’t say, ugh…it really to sleep this much, I’m way more sleepy now. Don’t want to wake up until next year"

Seulgi hugged her again, hiding her face in the crook of the beta neck while Wendy drew small circles along her back, her nose buried in her girlfriend's hair

"You know…I wouldn’t mind waking up like this every morning" Seulgi said in a whisper after a brief moment of silence

Those words...they were longing and hopeful. Wendy felt a lump in her troath

"Oh yeah?" she said with a soft voice, kissing the top of Seulgi's head

"Wouldn’t it be great?" She matched her girflriend's voice tone "You, me, travelling all over the world like we wanted and going to all those the 1975 concerts together"

Wendy pulled her girlfriend away and cupped her face between her hands, kissing her forehead for a long time in a protective gesture before losing herself in those beautiful dark orbs of hers

"When I think about a future with you, it’s always great"

Seulgi's face filled with happiness, her smile wide

"Well, it's the same for me"

Their lips locked in a slow, sensual kiss. Their hands roaming all over their bodies trying to caress each spot on their skin like it was a map. That was their little moment, that instant where the world turned blurry and there was no one else but them.

Said moment was rudely interrupted by a loud knock on the door. More aggresive than before

"Wendy-unnie! Joohyun won’t let me touch the fridge until you’re at the table and I’m ing starving! Can you guys leave the quickie for the night?!"

Seulgi made a scowl and Wendy had to hold back her laugh. Sooyoung had quite the talent to be too honest with her words when she was angry. Her girlfriend got out of the bed in a lightning quick move, putting on her briefs and shirt before leaving the room. The blonde beta heard her sister scream not so long after

"Why are you so damn annoying, Son Sooyoung?!" Seulgi whined

"Ouch! Wait, Seulgi-unnie! Ouch!! Stop hitting me, please! And put some pants for sake!"

"Why? Do you feel intimidated?"

"Maybe she's is loving it" Joohyun said all the way from the kitchen. Seulgi burst out laughing, along Wendy

"Yah! You're my girlfriend!"

Wendy keep laughing while she picked her clothes all over the room and, in the way, she took Seulgi's pants. Joohyun's house was rather small: a single floor and five rooms. The front door lead to a hallway which connected to a kitchen in the right and the living room at the left. If you kept walking down the hallway then you could find the rest of the rooms. The backyard was barely 10 meters long and wide.

The beta walked through the hallway, fixing her hair and tying it in a ponytail. She found Joohyun sitting at the table with a cup of hot chocolate in her hands, Sooyoung roaming around the cupboard and Seulgi hunched inside the fridge, searching for something.

"Thank god. Reinforcements just arrived" Joohyun mumbled against her cup

"Good morning, Joohyun-unnie. What are you looking for, Sooyoung?"

"The cereal!" Wendy rolled her eyes at her sister's response "Joohyun should have them around here. I told her to buy a box of frosted flakes the other day"

"What about you, Seulgi? Here are your pants by the way"

The alpha just reached her hand to take the pants and kept looking inside the fridge until she pulled out a small bottle. Wendy barely read the words “pineapple juice” and everything made sense in the blink of an eye. It seemed like two out of the three most important woman in her life had a fixation for breakfast.

Seulgi got dressed and started making some tea in complete silence. Sooyoung finally found the box of cereal and, with a big smile on her face, sat at the table pouring the biggest bowl she could find and eating like an excited puppy

"Sooyoung, please" Joohyun complained when she heard the munching sounds of her girlfriend

"Have some manners" Wendy followed

"She really takes the “breakfast of champions” thing seriously" Seulgi said with a smirk, her arms crossed across her chest

The comedy soon ended when Wendy heard her phone ringing loud. Everyone stopped doing whatever they were doing and looked straight at the beta girl. The phone screen showed the name ‘Mom’ and time stopped. Everybody looked at the phone like it was cursed

"Aren’t you going to pick up?" said Joohyun. The ringtone blaring in the background

"Mom did nothing wrong" Sooyoung mumbled, a spoon hanging in her right hand "Put her on speaker, let's talk to her"

Wendy followed orders almost like a robot before picking up

"Yeah?"

"Wendy?! Are you okay, kids?! Where the hell are you?! Is your sister with you?!" The woman voice was anguished and hurried

"We’re okay mom. We’re with Joohyun in her home and yes, my sister is here with me"

"When are you two coming back? This is your house...you live here"

The beta girl sighed. Sooyoung groaned, her scent suddenly going wild inside the kitchen and making Joohyun squirm in her spot

"So does Dad" said the younger sister with closed teeth

"He is not home. Neither your brother, he left yesterday. He is furious, you know? Your father too, he said you're as good as dead for him"

"Yeah, for us too" Sooyoung stepped up and almost snatched Wendy's phone away from her hand

The silence was awkward after that statement

"We’re not going back mom. We’re looking for other place to live in starting from tomorrow, don't come looking for us okay? I promise we'll tell you if we need anything"

Sooyoung sighed when she heard the sobs coming from the other side of the phone. They were heartbreaking and maybe their mother had no real words to talk after that

"I’m sorry...is healthier for everybody. See you later"

The alpha girl hung up the phone and handed it to Wendy who looked at it like she was expecting another call. Joohyun placed a hand on her own hair, shaking her head a few times

"Are you sure about that, Sooyoung? That’s a big step" it sounded like the older out of everyone was out of air

"I’m sure" determination dripped from her voice "What about you, unnie?"

"I’ll follow you to the end of the world and you know it but...I want to solve this, Sooyoung. Not to get back home but for Mom, she is not guilty of all of this. We’ll look for a house now but after that we’re going back with her, got it?"

Sooyoung nodded a few times and then went back to her chair. Wendy had a point, they now had layers and layers of troubles and they tried to forget about it. Things went completely silent after that call.

Seulgi gulped her glass of juice quickly after she saw her phone with no battery; she went back to the room to get fully dressed and was ready just five minutes after. Wendy and her girls moved to the living room trying to watch a movie but it was a complete chaos, everybody wanted to sit in the same sofa and it just couldn’t fit them all.

"Sooyoung stop moving!" Joohyun screamed before laughing, loudly laughing

"I’m not comfy!" Sooyoung screamed back

"If you talk about ‘comfy’ then I’m the one losing" Wendy said "You have your hand in my inner thigh since like four minutes ago!"

"Ewww, that's disgusting! And illegal!"

Joohyun clapped, still laughing while Sooyoung kept whining about the small spot. Wendy laugh died slowly when she saw Seulgi getting ready to leave the house. She got up from the couch and walked towards her alpha

"What’s wrong? Is everything okay?" The beta pouted "We were about to watch a movie...why are you leaving?"

"I have to get back home. Mom is surely dead worried about me, I mean...I didn't call her since yesterday night. I’ll call you later ok? Wanna go out for dinner?" Seulgi cutely tilted her head to one side

"Sounds great"

Wendy smiled a bit and hugged Seulgi before sharing a deep kiss, a need for each other which filled them with passion and lust. They still cared less about the people around them

"Wendy-unnie" Sooyoung whined "Want to stop the soul out of Seulgi-unnie and come pick the movie?"

Seulgi sighed in frustration, her eyes closed as she threw her head back

"Your sister has a PhD in , I swear"

They hugged one last time before Seulgi went away and left Wendy in her own adventure world. The alpha walked all the way to her home in complete calm even when the sun shone brightly and burned hot on her skin. The world seemed like a really boring place right now, it was too calm. She finally got home and opened the door slowly, praying to any god that Rowoon wasn’t at the other side

Relief was the only word she could find when she saw her mother sitting on the couch with the phone grasped in one hand

"Hey ma-"

"Oh my god, Kang Seulgi. One day you'll be the death of me"

The woman walked quickly and pulled her daughter into a tight hug, her arms circling behind her neck while Seulgi placed her own around her waist. Seulgi's mom was slightly shorter than her kid, maybe a half or one inch. Her hair ran freely in a long black river all the way to her waist and right now she was dressed in her pajamas. Seulgi felt guilty by the sight but relieved at the same time. She felt protected when she felt her mother peachy scent floating around her, the same scent that's been soothing her since she was a little kid. The same feeling she could only feel when Wendy holds her tight, that feeling where she didn’t need anything else but her.

Maybe that was the only way to describe love

"You deserve to be grounded for two months without visiting that sweet girl of yours" Her mom words were harsh but her voice was soft and Seulgi could only smile

"I’m sorry, mom. My stupid phone ran out of battery and I couldn’t call you last night. I’ll be more careful next time, okay? Don't be angry at me"

They lived in a small apartment, it only had two rooms, a kitchen and a sofa in the same room. Seulgi slept in the sofa while her mother used one of the rooms whenever she had time to sleep at home. Rowoon slept in the other. They didn’t have to pay any rent and only had to pay half of the bills so everything seemed perfectly fine specially when they were short on money almost all the time. The alpha girl held her mother for a while until she heard one of the doors opening with a bang

The sound of his boots. Seulgi could feel the fear crawling inside after years and years of the same situation. She learned to keep it low and hide it from his and her mother's eyes but it still twisted a knot on her stomach. Her mother knew nothing about the weird relationship Seulgi had with her uncle, she didn’t know that Rowoon was responsible of the spare cash she brought home each week after going out all night, she didn't know where they worked or why she feared him so much

A loud burp echoed around the house and Rowoon laughed

"Oh man! That felt like the devil crawled out of my body! Good morning sis and good morning to you too, midget. So you finally came home, huh?"

Seulgi let go of her mother and went completely silent expecting the man to scream at her. Rowoon never placed a hand on her but he could get so angry that Seulgi always expected a good beating, at least he had the upper hand for now. Seulgi hated herself for all the fear she was feeling at the moment

"Good morning, Rowoon" her mother said "Had a good sleep?"

"Well...I feel like I have a ing marching band in my head but I’ll handle it. Mind cooking something for me?"

"Sure, give me a minute"

The omega woman walked to the kitchen and Seulgi soon heard the frying pan sizzling in the stove. Rowoon got closer, crushing Seulgi with his height and that disgusting, musky alpha scent of his that made her nauseous. The smell of alcohol and sweat was an ugly bonus

"I said ‘good morning, midget’" he hissed with danger "Are you deaf or just stupid?"

"Good morning, Rowoon" Seulgi voice came out soft

"Perfect. Move your for breakfast; I have something to tell you"

Rowoon shoved her to the kitchen and Seulgi just stumbled her way to the table, trying to help her mother in whatever she needed. After half an hour of preparation later, the three sat at the table. Rowoon ate in a gross way, pouring coffee all over the place and gulping it down like it was water while the omega mother and her daughter only looked at him.

"Where the were you last night, midget?"

"With a friend" Seulgi poked her food, she wasn't hungry with this man around

"ing the Son girl, huh? Because I can see that goddamn hickey all the way from here...holy ! She must be crazy!"

"It was too late to go back so I slept at Joohyun's house. My phone died that’s why I couldn’t call" The young alpha kept ignoring the question and the boiling anger inside her chest

"That explains a lot. Your mother went bananas, you know? She pulled the sober out of me in a ing second. You do that stuff again and I kick your all the way to next Wednesday, okay?"

Seulgi's mother lowered her gaze and the girl could see her clenching her fists under the table

Was this the price of silence?

"Loud and clear, Rowoon"

The breakfast was over. Her mother went out the house to do some laundry and Seulgi was stopped right at the door before going out to help her with the basket

"I want you to work with me at the bar" Rowoon placed a big hand on her shoulder, his voice dry "Tonight"

Seulgi mind immediately drifted to the promise she made to Wendy. She couldn't and she wondered if Rowoon would kill her just for a small date with her loving girlfriend

"I can’t"

"What?!" Seulgi flinched at how loud his voice got

"I said I can’t"

"Listen up, midget...I think you didn’t get the order. You ARE coming to work with me. What the do you have to do anyway? Aren't you on a summer break or some like that?"

"I promised Wendy I would take her to dinner"

Rowoon laughed out loud, clutching at his sides like the shorter girl just told her the best joke in the world. Seulgi remained stoic, not wanting to punch the lights out of her uncle

"Oh god...that’s ridiculous. You, trying to be romantic. Man oh man, the things we do for !"

Seulgi looked at her with fury in her eyes. She was sure that her scent was flooding the room but Rowoon seemed unfazed by it

"I’ll pay you some big cash and then tomorrow you can pay that girl a dinner, a box of chocolates and a lil’ bouquet of flowers, sounds good? You only have to kick someone in the ring at the bar and we’re cool"

Rowoon organized underground fights in his bar, supported by all his friends and most of the clients who frequented the place. It was a rather curious way to entertain them and make them spend a lot more money than usual. Since Rowoon was friends with the police they rarely gave a damn about everything and sometimes even joined the fights just for the fun of beating someone to their near death. Seulgi fought a few times in that ring when she was younger and naive, maybe a little rebel too...before meeting Wendy

The alpha girl never lost a single fight, ever. She was Rowoon best fighter and the only one who left her with not only a great profit but also a good reputation. The money she won on those fights was enough to pay high school expenses and even a few luxuries here and there but Seulgi promised herself she would never step on that place again. Wendy deserved something better, something that wasn't a rowdy alpha fighting with older and stronger men

"Rowoon...look dude,I don’t want to fight just so you know, I fell off my bike on the way here" Seulgi lied and crossed fingers, hoping it would work "My knee hurts and my arm bended wrong, even my hair hurts so please...not this time"

The older man sighed and crossed his arms across her chest looking at the girl with desperation. That was other side of her uncle, he always seemed to feel guilty after every time Seulgi complained about how much she was hurting

"You win this time, midget. I still want you to come to work. Keep the bastards at bay and pour a few shots. I’ll pay you as much as a fight"

The man walked to the front door, possibly trying to follow his sister. He placed his favorite baseball cap on his head picking it up from a nail in the wall right beside the back door.

"I definitely need a drink"

Seulgi waited for her to go out so she could call Wendy

The phone rang a few times before she finally picked up. Sooyoung screamed in the background alongside Joohyun, the usual sounds of Mario Kart echoed loudly.

"Seulgi?" There was some shuffling in the background and then it suddenly stopped

"Yup, babe it's me. How’s babysitting?"

"Sooyoung is the problem, you know it. Is everything all right?" Wendy sounded worried

"A bit. Rowoon wants me to work with him at night so we can’t go for dinner today....what about tomorrow? I’ll pick you up early and we go on a full date: breakfast, lunch, dinner, movies, shopping,whatever you want to do"

Wendy laughed softly. Sooyoung screamed one more time and loudly cursed

"Okay, baby bear. Just be safe, okay?"

"Sure, I'll still call you after my shift ends. I'm really sorry, Wen"

Wendy sighed

"I told you is fine. Don’t worry anymore about that"

"I love you, Wen"

"I love you too, Seul. Have to go back to babysit. See you"

Seulgi giggled and hung up looking at her phone. The selfie she took with Wendy a few months ago served as her wallpaper and she could only smile at the fond memory feeling a bit of guilt in her chest.

She just wanted everything to be okay...for her

Wendy shuffled around the channels in the TV while the clock in the wall read 2:00 A.M. She could hear Sooyoung and Joohyun giggling under the blanket fort they built just a few hours ago (which was rather simple by the way, just a bunch of pillows scattered all over the floor and a big blanket held by four chairs working as roof and walls). They invited her but she was anxiously waiting for a call and the hours seemed so damn long, the clock ticked slower and she kept unlocking her phone time to time

She trusted Seulgi and she knew she could take care of herself just fine but…her alpha had quite the talent in the lies department. She always kept the pain to herself no matter how much it was: never talked about her family in front of her, never told her about her problems or whatever troubled her mind. It was a matter of luck when she talked about the usual things she does at home, when she couldn’t hide it anymore and was left with no other option but to talk.

Her mind drifted and finally the phone rang a few times

She quickly picked up, almost dropping the phone on the floor

"Yeah?"

"Did I wake you up?" she could almost picture her smiling. The sound of her voice brought relief to every inch of her body

"No, I was waiting for you, we’re all awake anyways too busy building forts and stuff"

"So I guess your babysitting went just fine"

"Yeah" she laughed softly "What's up, Seul?"

A brief silence, it seemed Seulgi stopped at a red light

"Nothing really, just heading home right now. Want me to make a stop at Joohyun-unnie house?"

"Kang Seulgi, don't you dare. Your mom must be dead worried by now"

The alpha sighed and remained quiet for a while before speaking again

"I really wanted to see you"

Wendy felt warmness spreading through her chest. ‘I want to see you too’ that’s what she wanted to say but there were more important things right now. She couldn’t be selfish and risk her girlfriend in the middle of the night besides, she must be tired of dealing with drunken men and their childish behavior.

"We have all day tomorrow don’t we?" Wendy tried to sound cheerful

"Definitely"

A pillow came flying to the beta's head all the way from the fort in the middle of the room, she squinted her eyes at the taller culprit that had the smile of the chesire cat and hid behind her shorter girlfriend who was screaming at her

"Mind if we move this conversation to texting? Sooyoung is being a "

"Like most of the time...sure, I’ll text when I get home. Love ya"

The call ended and Wendy quickly sprinted her way to the fort, tackling Joohyun alongside Sooyoung into the tower of pillows at the back and taking her vengeance on her sister by smashing her face with one of the biggest pillows. She was sure that it left a red mark all over her features.

The next morning, the doorbell rang. Joohyun was the first one to wake up, struggling to get out of Sooyoung's bear hug. The short omega rubbed her eyes lazily and slowly walked towards the door, opening it just a bit.

"Yeah?"

"Good morning, Joohyun"

The deep voice startled her and brought her out of her daze. She fully opened the door looking straight into the eyes of the tall man in front of her

"Mr. Son?"

The man stood at the door wearing his white medical uniform and glasses, his hair slicked back, a briefcase in his left hand. Joohyun felt intimidated and stepped back, she was dressed with a set of pink pajamas and his hair looked completely disheveled, not exactly what this ‘refined’ man wanted for his ‘beloved’ children.

He took a quick glance to the fort, Sooyoung and Wendy were still sleeping

"Uhm...good morning, Mr. Son. Can I help you?"

He was quiet as he scanned around the house, awfully judging all the things that were lying around. From the art hanging on the walls to the mess in the tv room

"So…blanket forts, huh?" he pointed at the giant bunch of pillows and blankets at the middle of the room "Where are Sooyoung and Wendy?"

"Still sleeping, sir...uhm...do you want to wait for them? Need anything to drink?"

"No. Go and wake up those two, I have to talk to them"

Joohyun quickly nodded and walked inside the fort. Wendy was slowly stirring awake, rubbing her eyes and stretching while Sooyoung still slept like a log

"Guys. Hey guys...I know you hate me right now but your father is waiting for you at the door"

Suddenly, like the ground was on fire, they woke up and sat down in thunder-like speed. All sleep drained from their eyes while they looked at each other with genuine fear. Wendy was the first one to get out of the fort, fixing her hair and her tank top before looking right at the older man eyes...she felt a chill running down her spine

"Are you done pretending you can do this? That you don’t need anything from me?"

Sooyoung stepped out just a few seconds after. They both felt so helpless, intimidated, like they were two small children again

"Are you planning to live your whole life like this? Playing videogames, sleeping like you were toddlers and ing around with each other? What about college? What about your future?"

Wendy sighed and faced her father with zero fear in her eyes, like the man wasn't a whole unit waiting for them to talk back

"We’ll make it work, somehow...we'll make it work"

"Somehow you say?"

"Yes" she continued "Without you...we'll find a way"

The younger and only alpha in the room looked at the ground; she was holding back the tears...not from sadness but from pure rage. It was always like this: Wendy always fought back while little Sooyoung remained quiet and hoped everything would end in any minute. She always protected her from all kinds of danger and she was tired of it.

When they were kids her father had the same attitude: rude, violent and explosive. Whatever they did wrong, he would manipulate them into thinking it was their fault: spilling milk, staying up late, getting home past curfew...no matter how much they tried he wasn’t satisfied and maybe that was the reason why Wendy forced herself past her limits not just mentally but physically. Sooyoung was tired of her sister losing a lot of things just to fulfill their father wishes

Sooyoung didn’t want that anymore. She didn’t want to live in this shadow forever, scared and angry at life.

"Wendy come on, child…you’re gorgeous, you make us so proud everyday and you never done this before. Why are you angry at me, at us? Why are you rebeling like this?"

"Because you're always humillating Sooyoung for choosing Joohyun"

"Sooyoung? You’re doing all of this because of Sooyoung?" His voice was filled with mockery, like he couldn't believe two sisters loving each other so much

"And for me too. For bribing the high school principal so he would kick out Seulgi...fortunately he didn't"

"You’re worth of so much more, Wendy. Stop doing this to yourself. Leave your sister and that pitiful alpha of yours and come back home"

Wendy took a deep breath. This man wasn't acting like a father

"Father please, don’t try to fix this. Just-just let us go okay? We won’t bother you ever again"

The tall man walked closer to Sooyoung and Joohyun, Wendy stepped in the middle still challenging him, her arms spread open and willing to protect everyone

"Please, father. Stop. We’re not changing our minds right now"

The doctor walked back to the door looking at them fiercely

"You three are going to regret this. We’ll see how you survive when I give you no money for anything you need"

He opened the door and slammed it close with a loud bang

All that was left was silence

"!" Sooyoung cursed, almost kicking a nearby chair "That was your chance, unnie! You should’ve punched him or something"

Wendy turned around and frowned, looking up at the scared eyes of her sister

"I won't solve anything with even more violence, what did you want me to do?"

Sooyoung pushed her sister with both hands and Wendy stumbled back, struggling to keep her balance

"Well , talk about giving us a helping hand! That guy will take everything away from us!"

Wendy was angry as she talked back

"Oh yeah? Then why didn't YOU say something to him?"

"I’m sorry for being so scared of him! Is that what you wanted to hear?! I’m scared!"

Joohyun looked back and forth between them, tension slowly rose.

"Sooyoung..." Wendy eyes turned soft

"What, unnie?! Do you think this is ridiculous?! Which ing side are you then, Wendy?!"

"Guys, stop now" Joohyun tried to intervene almost stepping between the two

"Why are so angry at me, Sooyoung? What did I do wrong?"

"You did nothing! That’s exactly why I am angry!"

"Please!" Joohyun screamed, pushing Sooyoung away from her sister and wrapping her arms around her torso "Stop okay? This is not going to solve anything about your situation...you both need to re-think everything"

"I’m trying" said Wendy, her voice slightly lower than before "Sooyoung is the one acting childish and stupid"

"Huh?" Sooyoung went out to push her again "Why me?!"

"Sooyoung, that's enough" Joohyun screamed again "She protected you…both of us! Do you think is easy for her to do this? That's your father either you like it or not"

Sooyoung looked betrayed, anger still burning in her eyes as she looked down at Joohyun. She wriggled her way out of the hug and turned around, walking quickly to the room where she some nights before

Wendy sighed yet again, Joohyun looked at her with sympathetic eyes

The doorbell rang one more time and this time it was the beta girl who opened it

Her eyes clashed with a pair of soft brown

"Damn, Wen. You look like …good morning I guess?"

She quickly tackled her into a hug and Seulgi struggled to keep herself in the ground while holding tight to her girlfriend. As a beta, Wendy got no real comfort from Seulgi's scent but it still was pleasing to feel it around her

"Hey...mind telling me what’s wrong? You’re not this cheerful every morning"

"Please, just take me out somewhere. I don’t want to be here right now" she mumbled against her alpha shoulder

Seulgi caressed a soft spot of skin in her back before placing a kiss on her cheek trying to comfort her in any way she could. Wendy felt the tears stinging at her eyes and she didn’t fought them back, not this time, not now that she felt safe in her arms, not now that she didn’t have to protect anyone.

"You can tell me everything on the way" her voice sounded soft "Let’s go"

"What about my clothes?"

"Forget the fashion. We aren’t going to church anyways"

Wendy looked back, Joohyun waved at her from the inside and she nodded before closing the door behind her.

They walked side by side and hand in hand, reaching some sort of coffee shop located just a few blocks away from Joohyun house. Seulgi never let go of her hand until they were sitting at a table near the window, a usual spot for them in any place they went. Wendy did nothing to hide her teary red eyes and sniffed loudly while looking at the table

"Do I have to tickle you or some cheesy stuff like that?" Seulgi said with a small smile

"What?" Wendy looked up at her with wide eyes "What are you even saying?"

"I really hate to see you frowning all the time, that’s my job here you know"

And, like it was magic, that brought a smile to Wendy face. She giggled as she shook her head

"I’m sorry...you shouldn’t look at me like this"

"We all look like at some point in our lives so don't worry. Now, care to tell me what got you feeling so bad?"

The beta took a deep breath and nodded, her hands reaching for Seulgi's who immediatly took them between hers

"My father went to visit us and he...tried to make us go back home"

Seulgi made a gesture with her hand for her to continue

"I stopped him but...Sooyoung got mad at me"

"Why?"

"She said I should’ve punched him...I think to make him understand, I don't know"

A waiter came to take their orders, Seulgi quickly picked something from the menu and dismissed him in a second

"And what happened after that?"

"We fought and I felt bad because maybe she is right, Seul. Maybe I’m doing nothing to bring us home. I’m the older sister: It’s my duty to protect us and seek solutions not being stubborn and pretend everything is fine"

Seulgi sighed and shook her head a few times

"You’re trying too much"

"Huh?"

"Yes. I mean…Sooyoung needs to learn a few things by herself and one of those things is to stop blaming others from her own problems. She's an alpha and I get she's violent but violence won't help her solve her problems and much less against your dad like...come on? What was she thinking?"

Wendy felt like she was being lectured by someone twice her age

"And you-" Seulgi placed a finger in the middle of her forehead "-need to learn that you are doing just fine. You’re doing your so called ‘big sister work’"

She took her hands with care, like they were made of porcelain and could break at any second.

"Wen I know you love her, hell you surely love her more than me and I know you been through hell and back with your ty unstable father but you need to give it time. Sooyoung is just confused with all that is happening, she's really young after all. Isn't she? Maybe she also needs to stand up to herself"

Seulgi slowly drifted to her own experiences, daydreaming about the previous day and her conflicts with Rowoon. Her girlfriend voice pulled her out of the darkness of her mind

"Seul?"

"Sorry...things are going to get better, babe. I’m sure about that"

The alpha brought her hands to her lips and placed a small kiss on her knuckles, smiling gently at her. She mirrored her smile and tucked the falling strands of her hair behind her ear

"Let’s forget about this for the rest of the day, okay? I’m starting to sound like freaking teacher eyebrows and you know...I still owe you a date"

Wendy nodded eagerly, she barely remembered this ‘teacher eyebrows’ at least until her brain made the connection: the school principal whom her father almost bribed and Seulgi's counselor for the last two years.

"This time you’re taking me to dinner, baby bear"

A/N: Well, well, well look who's back...me with another author note hehehe. Sorry for the long, long hiatus on this story but I just wasn't feeling really good these last months and I seriously needed to make some adjustments in my life after everything went down the drain, everything I posted were works I wrote way back but nothing brand new. I'm back this time, really back and updates on this story might me as frequent as they were before :)
