Drip Drop II

Never Enough

Sooyoung opened her eyes slowly and immediately put a hand on them to try and filter the light that entered the room. She wondered why on earth the room felt so bright if Irene had put curtains thick enough to cover up a damn solar rain. The girl sat on the bed slowly, the soft sheets were entangled between her waist and abdomen and stopped covering the ness of her body, she stopped covering her eyes to look at the window; the curtains were slightly drawn, just enough so the room could reflect at least a little sign of life.

Irene always thinking about her own needs, always so altruistic and with so selfless. This room had been designed exclusively for Sooyoung a month ago, exactly three years after having started dating the vampire and considering it was time to take an important step in the relationship and start moving her things to the house she shared with Seulgi

The huge Emperor-sized bed was the center of attention in that lavender-scented place witj thick concrete walls covered in gold and copper paint, the white sheets were now a mess and the reflection of the mirror right in front of the bed showed only her. The girl remembers the previous night in this whole place. The location of that acquisition, the mirror of almost a meter and a half in length, was a strange of her lover. that wouldn't be questioned, at least not when she enjoyed the effects of it so much in the nights where they made love

Sooyoung stretched her arms over her head and let out a long yawn, the joints of her arms and legs complained at the sudden movement after having been hours in a completely inert state and felt relaxed after moving them a little. The girl reached one of her hands towards the small table located right next to the huge bed and picked up her phone. As she swiped her finger across the screen, she was surprised to see how many messages were in her inbox, the small red circle with the number '20' discouraged her a bit... she knew she had to talk with her friend last night and didn't even think about it

The girl took a breath to give herself courage and then typed her friend's number on the virtual keys of her phone. That girl could be three years younger than her but she was a real demon

The phone didn't even ring twice when someone was already answering

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, PARK INGSOOYOUNG?!"

"Hey, Yerm, good morning"

"Good morning, my ! Where the hell are you?!"

"Quiet, Yerimie. I'm at Irene's house, I'm fine, ok? I forgot to send you a message last night but nothing happened, I'm safe and sound"

The girl on the other side of the line, although she wasn't screaming at the top of her lungs, kept the strong, loud tone of voice she had been using since the conversation began.

"I told you should call me, Sooyoung, you can't do this to me... I thought Irene had already thrown your body to the sea or something like that! I was worried, horrible piece of !"

"Sorry, sorry" Sooyoung burst out laughing as she held her phone to her ear. She was so distracted by her euphoric call that she couldn't hear Irene leaning on the door frame of the room and crossing her arms across her chest, looking at her with a wide and cheerful smile "I swear I was going to call you but then 'Rene did her magic and... " the girl let out a long sigh that almost contained everything she couldn't express in words "I don't know Yeri... I don't think I'll ever meet someone that loved me as she loves me"

Irene raised her eyebrows in surprise. On the other side of the phone, Yeri made gagging sounds while Sooyoung laughed with malicious laughter. That's what this little devil's spawn earned for demanding a report every hour as if they were both on a super secret mission where communication couldn't be lost for a single second or the mission failed in a resounding way.

"Ok, ok! I didn't need to know that, !"

"I'm sorry, Yerm, I promise I'll be home in a few hours, okay, I still haven't finished taking all my things out of our apartment and I also have to make sure you throw away the trash and clean up a bit... knowing you, you probably been living for weeks between boxes of pizza and liters of kiwi juice"

"Hey, don't judge me, it's not my fault that my student budget is so low"

Sooyoung laughed again and this time she felt a bit of melancholy when she had to finish the call. Talking with Yeri was always quite refreshing. Her best friend for several years now would always be the cause of her smiles and what would make her rise out of the dark.

What made her doubt whether she should transform or not

"See you later, Yerm"

"See you, Park Sooyoung, get the new IPhone with your sugar mommy!"

Sooyoung no longer responded to that obvious joke and just hung up the call. As soon as she hung up she jumped on her own spot when she saw Irene standing at the door with the stupidest smile the human girl had ever seen her in all the time she had the joy of studying her beautiful and perfect features.

"So... you've never met someone who makes you love like that"

Flirting and was a thing of every day in this relationship. Thanks to these games, the kisses were a little more daring and the caresses doubted less about the places they should admire or walk though, that didn't mean Sooyoung still had a bit of embarrassment when Irene spoke like that. When lust didn't cloud all her senses, the words took a little more direction

"What can I say?" Sooyoung continued with the flirting and patted the a space on the bed right next to her. The size of the mattress wasn't the slightest impediment when it came to having closeness to the one she loved the most

Irene continued smiling and walked towards the bed, resting one knee before crawling to Sooyoung and sliding her fingers over her cheek. A subtle caress that was barely enough to provoke a reaction in the girl but still managed to kickstart her heart. Irene leaned a little towards her and captured her lips in a soft kiss where her lips barely moved. When lust didn't cloud her senses, Irene was the gentlest and most docile girlfriend

Sooyoung covered the vampire's hand with her own and interlaced their fingers, delighting in the coldness of her lover's body and surrendering to her with almost the same dedication with which she had surrendered the night before. The kiss had to end, Irene didn't need to stop but Sooyoung was her priority and she would never ignore the thousand and one needs of her favorite human being. The vampire's penetrating gaze drifted down to her s, covered in purple marks and angry bites. Irene hid her face between Sooyoung's neck and shoulder and closed her eyes when she felt her fingers tangled in her hair.

"I'm sorry, I was too rough" the vampire whispered with just a trickle of voice

"It's okay" the human girl closed her eyes as she smiled and floated in the strong perfume that surrounded Irene like a celestial aura "They aren't very painful... the last time was worse"

Irene groaned and pushed the girl until she fell to the bed in the middle of the sheets and the soft pillows, she carefully dropped the weight of her body on Sooyoung while her hands lost their way and traced all kinds of paths along her skin. Sooyoung smiled sweetly, with a tenderness that made the vampire fall in love a thousand times

"I made you breakfast. Do you want me to bring it here?"

"Not at all, give me 20 minutes to bathe and change clothes and I'll be ready"

"Perfect"

Just as Irene was about to get up from her body, Sooyoung grabbed her by the back of her neck and pulled so she could kiss her once more. The kiss more intense than the previous one, looking to win a dominance fight, as perfect as only Sooyoung knew how to kiss

"Stop now" Irene whispered against her lips once the kiss ended "You're still "

"Is that really bad?" Sooyoung smiled mischievously, her eyes bright and innocent as if she really didn't know what was happening.

"If you keep this up, I won't let you get out of bed all day"

The human threw her head back in a laugh and let her beloved vampire go away through the door of the room to who knows another point of the shared house. Sooyoung saw herself in the mirror once again... Irene was right to feel guilty, she went beyond mere marks, she actually managed to leave teeth marks as well as a couple of scratches on her thighs, perhaps the product of the lustful frenzy of her beloved vampire

After taking a long bath, Sooyoung walked carefully to the kitchen where Wendy was reading a large and yellowish book. She was so immersed in that story that not even her sharp senses could hear when Sooyoung entered the kitchen

At the table, decorated by a bouquet of flowers of all colors and a luxurious tableware in addition to being made of fine wood, her breakfast was served, still steaming hot. Sooyoung sat down with a smile and began to eat in silence. The sound of the cutlery in the porcelain dishes made Wendy finally pay attention and feel embarrassed to look at the girl she heard the night before. That ability of not needing sleep wasn't a great blessing

"Good morning" Sooyoung raised a hand to say hello with a gentle smile on her face, genuine and dedicated to the woman who would live in this house from now on "You're Wendy, right? Or should I call you unnie?"

"No no. Wendy is fine" The vampire smiled back and closed the book in her hands, forgetting about it for now "You are... Sooyoung?"

"Mhm. The only unfortunate human in this house"

"Hey... being human isn't that bad. I went out with Seulgi for a long time that way"

Sooyoung stared at her plate of food and began to play with the food. She suddenly lost her appetite and it wasn't due to Wendy's comment, but to the weight of her memories and feelings. For her becoming a vampire, went far beyond just losing her humanity she wanted to do it for Irene...

"Sometimes…" Sooyoung spoke in a soft voice "Has Seulgi-unnie ever been guilty before you while you were human?"

Wendy stared at the girl who still didn't take her eyes off the half-finished plate and that was beginning to get cold. Sooyoung looked so sad while talking and Wendy hesitated to answer; the truth was that Seulgi had never been guilty although they used to argue about the conversion

"No" Wendy copied the voice tone of the human "It never happened"

As expected, Sooyoung darkened her face even more

"Every time Irene kisses me she tries not to do it so hard because she thinks it hurts me. She tries not to touch me so much because of the coldness of her skin and every time we make love I see her face full of guilt for the bite marks and scratches that she leaves on me even if she isn't rough"

Wendy felt something inside her chest, a feeling she couldn't name. Sooyoung only thought of Joohyun even when the one affected was her

"I'm sick of seeing her so hurt. I would love to be at her level so she doesn't stop loving me. I would like... to be less fragile, just for her"

Sooyoung's blouse then slipped a little off her shoulder exposing a pale neck that Wendy didn't hesitate to watch as a piece of meat. It was so tempting, so tempting and an impulse in her body made her walk towards Sooyoung looking to bite right there, looking to feed

Sooyoung looked at her with eyes wide open. Wendy couldn't take it anymore. She was barely inches from biting Sooyoung...

Suddenly she felt a fierce force pushing her away from Sooyoung and making her hit the sink with a dull thud. Wendy complained as she returned to her five senses and blinked several times trying to understand however, she didn't have enough time before two pairs of hands clung to and lifted her into the air

"'Rene! Enough!"

"What did you do to her, Wendy? Did you bite her?"

Wendy finally understood

Irene's red eyes stabbed into her soul

She felt a pair of arms around her waist and then Seulgi's cold chest against her back. Wendy knew it was her because her acute senses made her memorize her citrus scent so particular and addictive. Seulgi held her tight, Irene looked at her furiously though her expression and all the muscles of her body were calm. Sooyoung had run to the kitchen door

"I'm sorry, unnie" Seulgi whispered trying to create a barrier between Irene and Wendy "She still doesn't understand her senses. I promise that I'll teach her better"

"Just keep her away from Sooyoung. You know that Seulgi"

Wendy didn't go unnoticed as Seulgi squeezed her more against her body. Sooyoung ran out of the kitchen and Irene almost immediately left behind her. Only the two vampires were left in that kitchen with the aroma of Sooyoung's breakfast in the air

"Come on, let's go hunting" Seulgi spoke near Wendy's ear but the latter got rid of her arms and shook her head several times

"I need to rest…"

"You need to eat, Wen"

"I don't want this! Okay?! Just-!" Wendy sighed and took the book she left forgotten because of Sooyoung "Just leave me alone... "

Seulgi watched Wendy go to the room they shared, slowly moving with a misfortune that seemed like walking towards the corridor of death

She felt guilty about her choices

"Sooyoung, Sooyoung. Wait"

Sooyoung left the house at full speed, without looking back. Now she was hurrying to the bus stop in the direction of the apartment she shared with Yeri. She needed to breathe... needed to not be angry at Irene because it wasn't her fault... She was just protecting her

But, protecting from what?

Finally Sooyoung felt Irene's icy hand on her wrist, with such force that perhaps it would leave a new mark. Irene turned her around and Sooyoung stared at her. She was making a superhuman effort not to cry and lose control in the middle of the street

"Rene... Stop. Let me go"

"Where are you going? Your home is with me"

Sooyoung could no longer contain her tears and little cared about the appearance she was giving in public.

"Then turn me into a vampire"

As it happened a few minutes ago to her, Sooyoung saw Irene lost all the seriousness of her face and fill with guilt as she had so many times before. There she was again with those emotions being so confused

"I can't, Sooyoung. I won't discuss it"

"You never tell me why"

"Enough, stop behaving like that. Let's just go"

Sooyoung brought her hands to to contain the sobs that became more violent than before

"I just want to love you... I want you not to feel guilty for loving me with the intensity that you want. I don't want you to feel guilty even one more day"

Irene was completely silent. She took a few insecure steps forward and reached out to try and touch Sooyoung

"Sooyoung..."

"If you don't want to turn me then leave me, let's not do this any longer"

The bus that takes Sooyoung to the apartment she shared with Yeri was about to arrive, it was only a few blocks away. Irene saw it as if it was the worst monster she had ever seen.

"How could you ask me that?" Irene answered with a little bit of strength "You know I only live for you"

With a bang, the bus stopped in front of the stop, Sooyoung didn't say a word and got on the bus that was lost at the end of the street while Joohyun stayed at the stop seeing how life itself was going in a moment

Upon returning home, Wendy patiently waited for her in a room with the old book in her hands. Seulgi wasn't anywhere and the new vampire had an expression of shame that nothing could take away

"Irene-unnie? Where is Sooyoung?"
"At home, she probably won't come back. I'll call her tomorrow so she can take her things away"

Wendy opened to say something but Irene's empty expression prevented her from saying anything. Irene walked to her room and closed the door gently but it sounded like a ton of lightning falling to earth. Wendy had a feeling she had seen that before

Siix months went by

Wendy was still trying to get used to this new life where she must devour the blood of others to survive. She didn't have another option and she knew this didn't make her a monster but she still didn't feel cold enough to do it

Seulgi hadn't left her alone any of those days. She took care of her and guided her on each of those nights where she had to hunt and never judged her for her choices in days where she didn't feel like killing anyone in order to survive. Wendy knew that Seulgi transformed her as a last option and she thanked her every day...

Irene didn't know much. In those six months she rarely left the house and didn't say a word

Now Wendy and Seulgi were in the studio of the latter. Outside a horrible thunderstorm raged by. Seulgi was concentrating on the new painting that attracted her attention for a couple of weeks and to which she devoted body and soul. This time she was just painting an old building in the city that she loved while she was photographing some popular places.

Wendy had found her favorite pastime in seeing how Seulgi painted. It was always fun to see how the canvas gained strength little by little and filled with all kinds of colors. Normally, the youngest vampire made an effort not to talk to not break Seulgi concentration but that day a single question hovered in her mind

What happened between Irene and Sooyoung?

"Seul"

"What's up?"

"What's wrong with Irene-unnie?"

Seulgi stopped painting on the canvas and took the opportunity to clean her hands covered with paint with a worn rag that she used for these occasions. She looked at Wendy with a pained expression: even if she didn't show it on a daily basis, Irene was a very important person for her. She was the one who gave her a second chance to live and behaved like her older sister all the time as well as being the person who taught her everything about the world of vampires. Seeing her so far from herself was hurtful to say little

"I'm clueless, Wen... Unnie just doesn't seem to be there. Surely she's making plans to leave"

"Leave?" Wendy raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms across her chest. The small stool that Seulgi lent her to sit on was a bit uncomfortable "Where?"

"I don't know" Seulgi sighed "Unnie has the habit of leaving the country every so often to avoid suspicion of the neighbors, she goes somewhere in the world and doesn't return until twenty or maybe thirty years later. I'm sure that's what she's looking for"

Wendy looked at Seulgi's canvas. She tried to remember something important that Sooyoung or Irene had told her

"I'm sick of seeing her so hurt. I would like to be at her level so she doesn't stop loving me. I would like... to be less fragile, just for her"

"Why does Irene-unnie doesn't transform Sooyoung? Those are always their problems"

Seulgi sat in front of the canvas and resumed her painting

"Look, Wen. Transforming a human isn't that simple... there are bodies that can't stand poison toxins and die long before they are converted; others manage to convert but lose their memories. That's why I didn't want to convert you and I'm sure unnie fears the same with Sooyoung"

Wendy tried not to ask Seulgi anything about her previous life, the 'Wendy' from a hundred years ago who died in her arms because of the poison

"Sooyoung just wants Irene not to feel guilty"

"That's going to be difficult, Wen"

"Why?"

"Because unnie does not want to hurt her"

The new vampire tried not to make any sound at that response. It was frustrating to know that everything was a game between Irene and Sooyoung looking to not hurt a bit but ending up doing more damage than necessary. The sound of the front doorbell echoed throughout the house, Wendy got up from her seat to be the one to open. Not always someone rang that bell and when they did it was usually mail or delivery people

When she opened the front door, Wendy found Sooyoung wrapped in a thick coat, soaked from head to toe and trembling from the cold. It was useless to carry that coat if the weather lowered her body temperature

"Sooyoung, god ... What are you doing here?"

"Where is Irene?" Her voice trembled because of the chills running through her body "Where is she?"

Seulgi had run to the front door when she heard Sooyoung's voice and now, almost desperately trief to find a blanket or something similar that could cover the body of the girl to give some heat. Wendy took her to the armchair closest to the door while Seulgi looked for a change of clothes

"What's wrong?" Wendy asked. "Why are you like that? Something happened?"

Sooyoung chattered her teeth but little by little she managed to catch her breath

"Yeri, my friend, left the apartment we shared... she will move to another city for school and I can't pay for the apartment. I want to stay here"

Seulgi had returned with the change of clothes carefully folded (product of Irene's effort) and put them on the armchair right next to Sooyoung. The blanket was starting to get wet and Seulgi looked up at the door of Irene's room... if all this didn't make her leave her room she wondered what could have happened

"Why right now?" Asked Wendy. "You could wait for the storm to end"

"Tomorrow I'm evicted from the department... it had to be today"

"Sooyoung?"

A completely different voice made Sooyoung wince and almost start crying at how beautiful it sounded, like a thousand bells on the air. Looking up, she met Irene's anguished eyes, as gentle as ever but fierce and aggressive. She was a few steps away from her and Sooyoung was sure she used some of her abilities to move so fast. Unable to contain herself, the human girl rushed to embrace Irene with all the strength inside her body

Irene staggered and kept her arms glued to her own body

"I missed you" Sooyoung said in a broken voice "You have no idea how much I missed you..."

Wendy approached Seulgi and took her by the hand "Let's go, Seul. It is better if they speak on their own"

Seulgi nodded and, although her mind stayed with Irene, she tried to trust her and Sooyoung's cunning to solve whatever was happening. Both vampires returned to the studio and Seulgi could only sigh while picking up her brush and making a on the canvas

Wendy looked at her again with dedication

"I think I don't tell you enough, Seul but... thank you"

Seulgi didn't stop painting

"For turning you? Don't thank me... I had to do it and I know you would have done the same for me. I didn't intend to lose you again"

Wendy tried to ignore Seulgi's words. Pretended that she didn't listen

Her mind disconnected and she just stared at the colorful canvas of her fiancée

Sooyoung was sitting on Irene's bed. Her anguished reflection was shown in the mirror in front of the bed. Irene was standing idly by the mirror

"It was a mistake to let you go" the human girl said between a few tears "I want to be with you forever and... I don't care if you never turn me! I just want to be here!" Sooyoung hugged herself, she had changed clothes and was wrapped in a thicker blanket but still felt cold "I felt really lonely, Rene... "

Irene was sure that if she could cry she would have sobbed until her chest hurt

She approached Sooyoung and took her face in her hands cradling it with the same care as always. She looked her in the eyes and left a brief kiss on her forehead when their eyes met

"I don't want to lose you, Sooyoung" Irene whispered "I'll explain everything to you, okay? Maybe that's how you understand me"

Sooyoung nodded

"I met you for the first time two hundred years ago, at a royal dance. I was a guest but you were the king's eldest daughter" Irene sat next to Sooyoung and the human girl looked at her with eyes full of surprise "It was an adventure between us, only ... nothing but a whim of mine and you ended up marrying the prince of the nearest kingdom just two months after we met. I left and you reigned in peace"

There was a brief silence and then Irene continued

"One hundred years later, I found you again. On the streets of Paris, now you went by the name of Joy. As expected, you didn't remember anything about me, you were just this Joy and nothing else. I tried to make yourself remember, tried to make you fall in love because I was lost for you... but I never did. Again you made a life with someone else and I ended up adrift"

Sooyoung covered with one hand to calm her crying

"It was just luck when I found you again... I already gave up"

"I knew I'd seen you somewhere" Sooyoung whispered while throwing her memories to walk "I knew that your face was familiar to me and that's why I approached you..."

"I've spent so much time looking for you, wanting you to be mine, wanting to love you as much as I loved you all my life" Irene had her eyes lost somewhere in the room "I can't stand the idea of waiting a hundred years to see you again, if I lose you now..."

Sooyoung, with the audacity she normally had, threw herself into Irene's arms and kissed her lips with desire. She tried to let go of all her frustrations for six months, all her repressed desires, all that she hadn't told her before and that she was afraid to tell her now. Irene didn't doubt and, as expected, she quickly gave herself up to lust and the need to dominate.

In the midst of this busy frenzy, Sooyoung managed to regain her consciousness

"Turn me into a vampire... please. This time I promise to remember you if things don't go well... I promise I'll wait for you for a hundred years, Irene"

Irene again felt the urge to cry

This time she had enough courage

She nodded slowly as she approached Sooyoung and took her face in both hands, her lips close to the most important artery in the girl's body.

"Remember that I love you, Sooyoung"

Without hesitation, Irene stuck her fangs into the girl's neck and held her tightly as she screamed and complained about the pain of the poison running down her arteries and destroying all traces of her humanity. Irene kept holding her until her body stopped writhing in spasms and suffering from the pain

Her heart stopped beating

Irene looked expectantly, if the poison had an effect then she would soon wake up

Ten minutes, twenty minutes, thirty minutes, one hour

Sooyoung didn't return

Suddenly, Sooyoung growled and tried to move. In total alert, she sat on the bed. Irene practically ran to her and cradled her face in her hands, looking into her eyes. There was a special glow in them, an indescribable spark

"Sooyoung? Are you okay? Everything's okay?"

The girl cocked her head to the side

"Joohyun? Why do you call me that? Who is Sooyoung?"

Joohyun... that was the name that only she used...

"Joy?"
