The Manor - *Apply Closed*How many of them were left? Lee Taehyun had no idea. Started as twenty, then within the first three rooms there was eight of them left. He didn't even want to know how those first few went: their screams in the room they rushed into once the door slammed behind them was all he needed. And now here he was, wandering the now familiar halls alone. His footsteps were eerily loud in the quiet hall. Only the occasional sound of the mansion seemingly settling accompanied his steps.
But at least Taehyun was on the second floor now. Some of the others could be up here already, just tucked away in a room or hall he wasn't able to get to yet. The fifth room had forced the eight of them to scatter. He paused to rest against the wall, still cradling his limp, bloodied arm against his torso. He wished he was still with that woman, he couldn't remember her name. Said she was a nurse and everything. Too bad she ran off from the rest of them during the sixth room. Ran off with their first aid pack of all things. He didn't even get the benefit of a pain killer for his sledgeharmmered arm.
Taehyun laughed bitterly, the sound exceptionally loud in the quiet hall. Dahae, he was pretty sure that was her name, was stupid. If she would have only been patient he would have totally come back for her. It wasn't his fault the door was on a timer for one person at a time. Sure, the room down there was filling with water. That didn't mean he couldn't come back and get her. Besides, he was the one who figured out the slide puzzle and where the key was to release the timed lock. Damn woman didn't like that. Who would have thought someone so petite could swing that hammer so easily.
She was probably drowned by now. No sense in going back he supposed.
Now the real question: door one or door two at the end?
Oh the pain was real. Even walking jostled his arm ever so slightly, sending shocks of pain through his body. He felt so cold. The next room he'd find a fireplace and take a rest. Taehyun did take a moment to check other doors as he went along, but all seemed to be locked, or worse there was another slide puzzle or some other damned locking mechanism. He could solve those easily, he knew it. All of these so called puzzles were so easy. But he needed a place to rest, and even if he wanted to focus on it, those easy puzzles never led to anywhere useful.
But this door. This door he just arrived at. It was open. And it had a big carved marking in it's door. This door looked important.
Taehyun pushed it open, stumbling in and nearly crying out when a plus green couch was immediately in sight. Oh it felt good to sit on it. He should just sleep here a moment: maybe others would find him. But something caught his attention. A map! A map of the mansion! Taehyun, ignoring the pain, scrambled to the wall where the map was and noted the red trail marked on it. Through the fire place! There was a shortcut through the fireplace! The shortcut would take him to the room right next to the last room!
Excitedly, he rushed to the unlit fireplace and touched the bricks one after another until something clicked. A door slid open at his feet, and without hesitation he scrambled downwards on a ladder that extended down with his weight. Pain be damned.
But no sooner did his feet hit the ground and he let go, the ladder quickly retracted back upwards. Taehyun felt around in the dark, and realized he was surrounded by four walls. No. No this couldn't be right! He was missing something he knew it!
And right on the wall, on a plaque, was a set of instructions. The plaque itself was a button that when pressed would release the lock on the next door, and it would surely take him to the next room. But it had to be pushed in conjunction with a button back up in the fireplace. And slowly, the light from the room above him faded as the door he had climbed down through shut.
