Now, We
The Forgotten Vow
When everything turns out to be a dreadful mess, there's nothing they could do other than to sit and watch what will happen next. But for them, their friendship already sank like a titanic when it hits the iceberg once upon a time ago. Now, all that left were probably the rusty part deep down the ocean, preserving the trace of the tragedy.
Dongyeol was currently sitting in front of the mirror as he stared himself into it. He found himself pathetic at all of the things he had done before. His eyes fell on his wrist which there's even now bandage wrapped around it which is the evidence on what he did a few days ago.
He knows, he shouldn't do that if he genuinely cares about Suji, about his other friends but that's the only thing could cross his mind whenever he thought about his life. From the moment he's born into the world, he did nothing other than giving problems to someone else's life. Maybe if he died before he came out from his mother's womb, all of these wouldn't happen.
"Dongyeol," A tapped on his shoulders, startled him as his eyes widened, looking at the reflection on the mirror, "Hey," Suji wrapped her arms around his neck as she placed her head on his shoulders, "Are you okay?"
The latter's lips curved upwards, produced a slight smile before he set his hand on the girl's arms, "Don't worry, Suji," He assured the girl though he knows it wasn't easy for her to believe in him again, "I'm sorry I broke our promises. I'm heartily sorry that I crush the trust you gave to me," His eyes got teary as he continuously stared at his twin's face.
Suji bobbed her head as she loosen the grip she had, turned the boy's body to oppose her before she crouched down in front of him, taking his hand into hers, "No, don't say that," She tried so hard to allow her lips curved upwards but it's extremely uncomfortable to do that when her eyes forcing her to form tears instead, "I know you didn't mean it. It's just the situation,"
"But Suji, there's something you need to know about Jungwoo," A bead of tears escaped his eyes, "I don't think it's fair if---," His words got cut when he was about to utter something.
Suji gnawed with her lips as soon as she heard Jungwoo's name. She was sure she didn't want to perceive that name anytime soon. She loathes him because he's the reason why everything turn out like this, "No, don't talk about him," Suji jerked, "I don't want to know anything involves him,"
"But Suji---," The same words being repeated and again, Suji refused to discern it. Instead of heckling him, the girl stood up and was about to leave the room but Dongyeol quickly seized her wrist, "Okay, I won't talk about it, so stay with me. Please?" His eyes began to plead.
She heaved out a sigh before took a sit on his bed, "Dongyeol, I know what are you trying to do," Suji claimed, "You had endlessly become the one who cares about us, about our friendship but it's not as easy as you thought it would be. When it involves our feelings into it, I--I just,"
"Why? You're terrified that Jungwoo might abandon you if he ever dates Yein?" Dongyeol disrupted her moments to explain on things causing the girl to be left dumbfounded, "It will be a fool of me if I don't know you like Kim Jungwoo, Suji," He sighed.
Her eyes averted the stare given by Dongyeol, "It wasn't like that," She denied it, "Anyways, I already have a plan for us. We're going to Quebec the day after tomorrow," Suji informed the sudden news in the most unexpecting moment.
"What?!" Dongyeol pitched-up his voice, "Are you trying to run away from all of the problems you're facing now?" He frowned and when the girl gulped, clearing , Dongyeol knows he hit the right spot.
Suji gritted her teeth, "I'm not saying we should stay there forever," She tried to reasoning, "Maybe for few months? You still need to achieve a full recovery too. We could go on a holiday together, isn't that great? Plus, I already purchased the tickets,"
When he heard the news, he knows he wasn't at the place to scrap the plan because once she already did everything, that's mean there's no turning back for them, "I think I couldn't do anything about it, right?" Dongyeol clamped his lips together, refrained from a smile to form.
"Yes, you can't. It's a yes or a yes," Suji flashed a beatific smile before evading the room with a light step.
Jungwoo was currently sitting in the middle of the couch, in front of the television with it dark screen as his eyes locked on it. He looks devastated with an obvious dark circle under his eyes, proving he didn't snatch sleep for days. No, actually even if he tried to sleep, he still couldn't. He could probably close his eyes for a few minutes before the incident flashed right in his mind.
He lost. He didn't know what to do and what kind of thoughts he should have in his brain at the moment. Leave Suji alone because she declared him to do so or confronts her and tell everything to her, piercing her heart even more? Jungwoo knows Suji would eventually comprehend why Jungwoo withdrew such a drastic decision, but that's not going to alter the fact, he broke the girl's heart.
Even though she could say she forgives him but Jungwoo, himself, couldn't forgive his existence in the first place. He should be honest from the start and make things clear but now that it's already happened, it wasn't like he could turn back the time and set everything to its original place back.
All he could do promptly, regretting his decision and do something to make it right back.
"Hey," The voice called him distracted Jungwoo, "Are you okay?" The word 'okay' itself suddenly become so unfamiliar to him. Is okay supposed to be an often question whenever something happened? Because... he couldn't afford to say 'okay' now.
Jungwoo nibbled with his lips as his eyes still on the dark screen, "Is that an obliged question for you to ask whenever something happen?" He complained but still with an uninterested expression causing the boy beside him to sigh.
"Okay, I'm not here to make things worst, but you know you shouldn't continue being like this. Staying alone here, not going to solve any of your problems," Moonbin started to state his opinion, "I know you're in an absolutely miserable state, didn't know what to do but Suji deserves to know the truth. Even Dongyeol knew about it already, don't you find it unfair if it's only her who didn't know about it?"
The words managed to trigger something in his mind, but that doesn't mean he's going to reveal everything to her. What's the point in concealing it from the start if he eventually will tell the truth later? He practically knows things were already getting complicated but then he couldn't afford to confess to it by himself.
"I know we're talking about us here but I need to tell you something," Jungwoo tried to change the topic immediately. Moonbin frowned upon his words, opposing his decision to divert their attention from the key problem now. He didn't think they would have any of other problems at the moment.
Moonbin waited for Jungwoo to utter something but he didn't as he looks hesitated with his teeth actively nibbled his lips, "What do you want to inform me that you look so anxious?"
"Actually," He took out an envelope from his coat and conveyed it to the boy. Moonbin accepted it with his clueless face as he raised his eyebrows, asking on the reason why, "Chanwoo gives it to me," Jungwoo completed his words and only by then Moonbin
