Jiyong To The Rescue

“On a serious note, I actually know your boss pretty well and he has a tendency to matchmake whenever there is an opportunity,” TOP says after we calm down from laughing.

His voice makes my train of thought cease its tracks and I look up to him, waiting for explanation. “Enlighten me,” I encourage him.

“There is a possibility that he was just trying to help you by making you think about that mysterious man. Hang on, let me call him,” TOP fishes his phone out and makes a quick call. “Ahjussi? I hope you are doing well.“

“Hello Seunghyunnie,” my boss replies and I wonder what kind of relationship he has with TOP.  “How can I help you today?”

"I have a quick question: were you teasing my baby Seungri?” TOP gets down the point.

“Ah, I see that Seungri has finally realized that?” my boss laughs and I can’t help but to face-palm myself. Wow, I truly was trolled by a grandpa. “I couldn’t help but give him a slight push when I saw how charmed he was by that man.”

“I understand. Thank you for the clarification. We should meet to catch up soon,” TOP adds and drinks a bit of his green tea. 

“Indeed. See you soon then,” TOP agrees and ends the call. “There you go, it was just a troll.”

“Congratulations for getting trolled so extremely well,” Daesung clasps his hands and snickers, giggling at my misfortune. 

“Screw yourself,” I snap back, but can’t help but to grin as well at this absurd situation. 

“Oh I will!” Daesung challenges me and we burst laughing again. “Seriously though, I hope you will get to meet that guy again. It’s been a while since someone managed to captivate you this much.”

His words are exceptionally true. I have not associated with many people much due to attachment issues. Having a family torn away from you usually makes you less social and afraid of making new connections. The pain from loss can be so heavy that it turns unbearable. I was lucky to have Daesung, who was stubborn enough that he forced me to open up and I learn to trust him. At first I regretted getting close to him, but with time, I learnt to appreciate our friendship. Same goes for TOP. 

For a second I think about telling them about a black car that was following me all day long, which significantly made me convince myself that I in a come or something, but I end up concluding that it was most probably part of my boss’s joke.

“Yeah, it would be nice,” I concur and for a second, I truly hope that I will see that demigod one more time. “Now, tell me about your adventure, TOP-hyung,” I change the topic so that the attention shifts to the coffeeshop owner.

“Well, let me tell you a story,” TOP begins, and Daesung and I curiously lean in.

And so time passed as we chit-chatted about various topics laced with laughter, fun, and happiness. The tea and desserts assisted us well, lightly filling our stomachs and warming us from inside in contrast to the chilly weather outside.

However, things always come to an end at one point or another. Daesung had to go back home for a business meeting — after all, he was a heir to Kang Bank, which was one of the biggest banking chains in Asia — and TOP had to take care of the coffeehouse because it encountered a few problems. Thus, I am left alone, which also means that I have time to think about my individual obligations such as school. Sighing, I clean up the table with some help from Jennie, take out my textbook, and begin to study. The courses I am interested in — so anything related to medicine in any way — I have no issues with. I only struggle and devote massive amounts of time to the classes that are supposed to make a well-rounded student such as history and English. Of course, I am
