Untouchable

Jungkook’s first few classes were uneventful to say the least, like everything else in his life. He is taking upper division classes this year, so he knows that he must keep on top of his studies to be the top student for the 3rd year in a row.

His basketball coach approached him during passing periods, and he said that practices and tryout are next week. Jungkook doesn’t stress too much about tryouts, since he is a shoe in to be the starter point guard. After another boring syllabus class, lunch arrived.

Jungkook was the first one to get to the cafeteria, so he sits down at the usual table and unpacks his lunch. In the few minutes he has to himself he quickly writes down in his planner what he must do. His concentration was broken when Yoongi arrived at the table.

“Hey there Jungkook,” Yoongi said as he began eating his lunch. “How has your day gone? Mine has been dreadful. I already know calculus is going to kill me.”

Jungkook quietly laughed at Yoongi.

“You will fine Yoongi,” Jungkook replied. “I know you rather be mixing music, but school involves a lot more than elective classes. But, my day has been going all good. All these upper division classes are going to be tough, but I know I can handle them. The hard part is going to be managing my classes with basketball season. Hey, out of curiosity, do you know how to play the guitar?”

“I know the bare basics of playing, but that’s really it,” Yoongi said while taking a bite of his sandwich. “Why do you ask? Are you learning how to play?”

Jungkook got flustered and shook his head.

“Naw, just over the summer I saw a street performer playing, and I got curious about how she moved her fingers so quickly between strings,” Jungkook said, lying straight through his teeth.

“Was she cute?” Yoongi asked nonchalantly while taking a bite of his chips.

“Um,” Jungkook muttered, caught completely off guard. “I guess she was. I didn’t think much of it when I saw her.”

“Did you find her attractive?” Yoongi kept probing.

Luckily, Jungkook was saved by Jimin and Hoseok. Jimin sat next to Jungkook, and Hoseok sat next to Yoongi. The pair were in a deep conversation.

“Hoseok, there is no way that you can convince me to switch into your dance class,” Jimin said in an irritated tone. “You saw me dance once over the summer, and that was by complete accident.”

“But I saw real potential in you Jimin,” Hoseok said with a pout on his face. “Your body movement was very fluid, and that is not something I say to even seasoned dancers. It would be a fun experience, and you can hang out with me more!”

“Eww, that makes me oppose the idea even more,” Jimin said with a disgusted face. “How about this, if we are ever both free you can teach me a few dances. That way you can see how bad I really am, and I don’t have to join the class.”

“Deal!” Hoseok said, looking very accomplished with the compromise.

“Aaaanyway, how have you been Jungkook?” Jimin asked. “I haven’t seen you since the assembly.”

“Pretty good, I’ve just been kind of nervous,” Jungkook revealed to the group. “I have a music class right after lunch, and I’m afraid I won’t fit in.”

“Why did you pick a music class?” Yoongi asked, looking a bit sceptic at Jungkook.

“There weren’t any other class that would fit my schedule, so the counselors put me in it,” Jungkook said while gulping. “I didn’t know what else to do, so I went along with it.”

“You will be fine Jungkook!” Hoseok exclaimed. “I doubt the new teacher is going to be hard on the class. If I’m not mistaken, I overheard a few teachers this morning saying this is his first-year teaching, so you have nothing to worry about.”

“He did look really young at the assembly didn’t he,” Jimin added.

“I just hope he knows what he is doing because I don’t want to be wasting my time,” Yoongi said casually, while still looking at Jungkook.

“You know that he has to be good, or he wouldn’t have been hired to begin with,” Jimin said confidently. “You just have to be more open minded. Plus, he will probably let you do what you want, since you aren’t a traditional music student.”

As Jungkook’s friends talked amongst themselves about the music teacher, Jungkook couldn’t help but think about the new teacher.

“I hope he can help me,” Jungkook thought. “I want to get better at playing the guitar, and maybe even work on my vocals.”

Jungkook’s thoughts were broken by Jimin asking another question, and the conversation between the four young men continued throughout the rest of lunch. The bell rang, and the group said their goodbyes. Jungkook walked to the music room, every step giving him a bit more anxiety.

“You can do it,” Jungkook muttered under his breath. “Just take deep breaths, and be open to new opportunities. Remember, you want to make this school year different from all other years.”

Jungkook entered the classroom, and he was surprised to see all the instruments laying around. Students were chatting all excitingly, and Jungkook felt a little out of place. He put his backpack next to the nearest wall, and he leaned against the wall. He noticed that students were looking at him, amazed he was in the class. After what seemed like eternity, the teacher walked into the room with a huge grin.

“Hello everyone!” Taehyung shouted to get everyone’s attention. “I am Kim Taehyung, and I am going to be your teacher this year. I want you all to create a circle on the floor please, and we will begin today’s class.”

As the circle was being created, Taehyung couldn’t help but notice the same boy he shared a bus with earlier.

“I never thought he would be in my class,” Taehyung thought. “This is going to be interesting.”

Taehyung immediately clapped his hands to grab everyone’s attention yet again.

“Okay, so I want this class to be a place of relaxation,” Taehyung said. “I will first start off with saying that I will not tolerate any bullying of sorts in my classroom. If any of you ever feel you are being bullied please approach me as soon as possible, and I will get it resolved as soon as possible. Now, let’s begin by going around the circle and everyone saying their name and why they chose this class.”

Upon hearing this Jungkook became very self-conscious. He heard everyone’s response, and they all have previous backgrounds in music. Before Jungkook had the chance to walk out of the class to change his schedule it was his turn.

“Hello, I’m Jeon Jungkook,” Jungkook began. “I joined this class because nothing else fit my schedule.”

“So, his name is Jungkook,” Taehyung thought. “And apparently he didn’t want to be in this class.”

After his turn, more students said their names and answers, but Jungkook felt the same gaze on him that he felt this morning. Upon looking up, he saw Taehyung looking at him again. However, this time Taehyung eyes held a different emotion. Jungkook looked away, as the rest of the student’s finished their introductions.

“Now that we have the formalities over with, there is a syllabus at the front of the class,” Taehyung began in his lecture voice. “I want each of you to pick one up before leaving class, and please read over it tonight. You will notice that most of the grade will come from participation, but I do want to highlight at the end of the year you are required to write an essay over what you learned about music and yourself. When the essay deadline approaches I’ll go more in depth on what I will be looking for. However, for the remainder of this period I encourage you all to look at the instruments scattered throughout the room. By the beginning of next week, I want you all to pick an instrument that will be your focus throughout the year. Go explore!”

The circle broke up, and students began looking at the instruments. Most gravitated towards the piano and woodwind instruments.

Jungkook stood up nervously, not knowing what to do. He looked at all the instruments, and he noticed a lone guitar in the corner of the room. He slowly walked over towards it, surprised that no one else approached it yet. Once he was close enough he picked it up and began strumming quietly.

Through this entire action, Taehyung looked at Jungkook. He was caught off guard when he ended up going towards the guitar. After making sure no one needed him, Taehyung walked over to Jungkook. Currently, the young student was strumming a quiet tune, with his eyes closed. He was completely engrossed with the guitar. A minute passed, and Jungkook ended the song.

“That was quite good for someone who didn’t want to be in this class,” Taehyung said, sad that Jungkook ended so early. “I noticed you went straight for the guitar. Is there any particular reason you chose this instrument?”

“Um,” Jungkook started, flustered at the straight to the point question. “I always thought the instrument was endearing, so if I’m stuck here this is what I would like to learn how to play.”

“Interesting, where did you learn how to strum like that?” Taehyung questioned. “That level of strumming is not from a novice. You must have practiced before.”

“Yeah, I guess you could say that,” Jungkook said, looking away from Taehyung. “Over the summer I picked up a guitar.”

“Interesting,” Taehyung said again.

Before Taehyung could ask any more questions, a student pulled him away. Jungkook was relieved he was alone again, but he couldn’t get Taehyung out of his mind.

“Why do I keep meeting up with him?” Jungkook whispered.

Jungkook went back to strumming for the remainder of the class, and every now and again Taehyung would look at the young man in the corner of the room.

“Alright, I’m going to let you bunch out early this one day,” Taehyung said loudly. “The bell is about to ring, so once again please pick up a syllabus. I hope this year will be a great year, and have a wonderful rest of the day!”

The class began filing out, and Jungkook was the last one to leave. As he was picking up the syllabus a voice filled the room.

“Jungkook,” Taehyung said in a deep voice. “Have a great rest of the day.”

“You too, Mr. Kim,” Jungkook said as he bowed towards his elder.

Jungkook quickly left the room.

“Was his voice always that deep?” Jungkook thought, flustered again by the man.

The rest of Jungkook’s school day progressed without a hitched, and before he knew it the day was over. He met up with his group of friends briefly before heading for the bus. This time Jimin was taking the bus home. The two reached the bus stop and an interesting topic came up.

“Hey Jungkook,” Jimin said. “I overheard a few girls talking about how attractive you have become. It got me thinking, why haven’t you dated before?”

“I could ask that same question to you Jimin,” Jungkook responded swiftly. “Unless my memory serves me wrong, you haven’t been in a relationship before either, and unlike you, I have amazing memory.”

“Yeah, but I’ve had flings in the past,” Jimin said. “Remember that one guy from last year?”

“You cannot call that a fling Jimin,” Jungkook said with a smirk. “He was totally not into you!”

“He was too!” Jimin said, a blush forming on his cheeks. “Our personalities clashed too much that’s all.”

“If that’s what you must tell yourself to sleep at night,” Jungkook said with a huge smile on his face. “You know I like messing with you.”

“Yah!” Jimin shouted. “Don’t forget that I am older than you punk! I can beat you up!”

“Please, you are 4 inches shorter than me, and you barely have any muscle mass,” Jungkook said while laughing. “Plus, you know you wouldn’t hurt me. You love me too much.”

Jimin’s blush increased tenfold, but before Jimin could retort the bus pulled up. The two friends swiped their cards, and sat next to one another. A new conversation formed, and the two best friends felt at peace.

An onlooker with glasses looked at the pair from a distance on the bus.

“Indeed, this year is going to be interesting,” Taehyung thought.

But watching his student while in the bus is a little creepy but in that story it's still cute ^^ Jimin will be heartbroken, i don't know how he will react later ! the most interesting part is how they will become a couple ^^
