Chapter 02

Dreams

"Okay before class ends, I'm handing back your first assignment! Please let me lay these in alphabetical order before you attack me like wild animals!" The professor called out to the students as she spread out the assignments on the large desk at the front of the studio. Yura eyed the assignments with anxioiusness and nervousness. This was her first assignment at SNU, and every piece of artwork that was praised by a professor lead Yura closer to her dream. Her palms began to sweat so much that she began rubbing her hands on her jeans.

"Hey, are you okay? It's only the first assignment." A random classmate asked Yura as she kept on rubbing her hands on her jean-covered thighs.

Yura only nodded in response, her eyes never leaving the professor.

"Alright! HEY HEY SLOW DOWN! I'M TOO OLD FOR THIS!" The professor screamed as she took cover at her desk while hoards of students began running towards the large table in the front of the large art studio.

Yura dashed alongside her classmates to find her work. Shuffling through all the million "Kim"'s she was finally able to find hers.

"95/100" Yura sighed in relief as she saw her grade. However, the 95 bothered her, and a feeling of discomfort began to grow inside of the young adult.

_________

"Hey Minah! Are you feeling better?" Yura called out to Minah as she entered their dorm room.

"She's been coughing the entire day!" Hyeri called out from next door. Yura placed her things on a nearby chair and shuffled towards Minah to check on her roommate's temperature, especially since she had a fever this morning before Yura left for class.

Grabbing a thermometer, Yura stuck it inside Minah's mouth and began feeling her face for any abnormal heat.

"I'm fine! Sojin gave me some of her mother's natural medicine and it's helped with my fever." Minah's voice croaked. Yura eyed the thermometer's 99.5.

"Wow! You only have a baby fever now. What is in that medicine?" Yura asked curiously.

Since Sojin was currently in class, Hyeri answered for Yura, "Apparently her mother also has a garden for medicinal herbs too! So don't ask me!"

"Ughh! Why did I forget my raincoat back at home!" Minah croaked sadly. Yura only gave her a half-heartened smile and shrugged.

"Don't worry Minah, we all make mistakes remember? Plus you're lucky you have someone like me to take care of you!" She boasted jokingly.

Minah rolled her eyes, "Then why don't you go and major in medicine if you're so confident!"

"Who's confident about what?" Sojin asked as she entered the dorm she shared with Hyeri. Just fresh out of class as it was clearly shown on her ruffled jacket and slightly messed up hair from the small breeze outside.

"Yura's going to be a doctor." Hyeri explained.

Yura gaped, "I am not! I'm too stupid for that anyway!"

"You're so pessimistic about yourself jeez." Sojin laughed.

Yura pondered about what Sojin had just said. Bothered that Sojin's comment was still replaying in her head, she decided to just lie down on her bed and look at her phone to try and distract her mind. Jumping on her bed, she tucked under the extra blanket she had for naps and began scrolling through her phone.

As Yura was going through her phone, Minah couldn't help but eye all of Yura's artwork on the wall. It seemed like Yura didn't do just one style, it's like every style is Yura's style. A cubism painting leaning against Yura's desk, a O'Keeffe style flower near the window, and a Van Gogh-like landscape above the multiple pillows on her roommate's bed. This lead Minah to ask Yura,

"Hey Yura, what exactly is your art style? You seem to do every style." Minah asked. Yura quickly looked up from her phone to see her roommate's pale face.

"Honestly...I don't know..." Yura admitted. That was a good question...What was her style? Cubism? French Impressionism? Surrealism? Great, what kind of artist was she going to be if she didn't even have a style? How the heck did she even get that 95/100 on that assignment anyway, it should've been lower! And not to forget Sojin's comment...

"Yura! Yura!" Hyeri yelled across the hole in the room, trying to grab the said girl's attention.

Almost falling off her bed, Yura quickly sat up and flipped Hyeri off.

"We're going to get dinner. Let's go before the restaurant gets full!" Sojin added as she was putting back her shoes and jacket on.

"Oh! Can I go?" Minah sat up from bed.

Yura shook her head, "It's probably not best for you Minah. I'll bring something back for you okay?" She comforted her friend. Minah smiled in response, and picked up a nearby book and began reading.

________

"Oh my god I swear this is the second time we've seen them this month!" Woobin laughed as he eyed the three girls across from him, Jonghyun, Youngkwang, and Sungjoon.

"There's no need to make a ruckus. It's just too loud." Jonghyun muttered as he took a spoonful of soup.

"Hey there's only three of them this time, so it's guaranteed there won't be as much noise!" Youngkwang added.

"Jonghyun, no need to hold grudges my friend. That's one bad thing about you Mr. Perfect-I'm-Going-To-Law-School-Floweries-Floweries-Floweries." Sungjoon said in his best girly voice, adding hand movements for special added effects. This only earned a glare from Jonghyun before he returned back to his dinner.

"Hey ladies! Where's the other one?" Woobin called out to Sojin, Hyeri, and Yura who were slurping on their soup away.

Wiping with a napkin, Yura turned to see Woobin. "Minah has been sick."

Woobin nodded understanding Yura's response. "Would you guys like to join us? We can combine our tables together, especially since we keep on running to each other." He proposed.

Yura turned to Sojin and Hyeri for an answer, not exactly knowing how to respond to that. Sojin and Hyeri gave each other an evil look before turning to Woobin.

"OF COURSE!" The two girls responded a little too loudly and eagerly. An uneasy feeling began to settle in Yura, knowing that the two girls were probably going to try and do something.

"You two better not try anything." Yura scolded as she began moving their table, and sitting next to Woobin. Going back to her soup, she began slurping diligently, trying to avoid any eye contact with everyone at the now bigger table.

"So Yura, what's it like being an art major?" Youngkwang curiously asked.

"It's pretty interesting!" Yura responded as she set her spoon down. Continuing, "It's definitely a lot of hard work since everyone wants to become famous one day for their work."

"That's definitely stressful. How do you deal with it?" Sungjoon asked.

"I just create art. It's weird because it's kind of stressing me right now, but at the same time, it's so soothing. I don't know how to explain it, but I definitely know this career is for me." Yura smiled in content.

Hyeri sighed, "You're so lucky. It's been almost a month and I'm still undecided." Placing her elbows on the wooden table, she pouted in sadness.

Sojin patted her head, "There there young one. You will find which career is right for you."

Yura quickly darted her eyes towards Jonghyun, who was still eating his soup. Who eats soup in such a serious manner? She wondered. But regardless, he still looked amazing doing so. A soup eating model on Vogue? That could honestly work. She quietly giggled to herself.

Woobin noticed that Yura was looking at somewhere else...as in someone else. His eyes followed Yura's and landed right on the image of Jonghyun coughing from the spiciness of the green chili pepper he just bit in. Yum...

"Oh..interesting..." He whispered, letting a grin escape for a quick second before making it disappear back to the deep abyss known as Woobin.

"Sooooo Yura! You got a boyfriend?" He suddenly asked, quieting the current discussion that was going on between everyone. Every head turned towards Yura, eagerly waiting for an answer.

"I did, but we broke up a month before school started..." Yura awkwardly answered, starting to feel uncomfortable by everyone's stares. Well everyone except Jonghyun, sadly.

"You hear that Jonghyun buddy? She's single!" Woobin elbowed Jonghyun vigorously, which only earned another glare from him.

Is he into me?! Yura excitedly thought. What if he was? What if he wasn't? BUT what if he was? Yura could barely contain her shamingly girlish squeal.

"Congradulations." Jonghyun promptly answered before pulling out his phone, and began scrolling through it.

Great...looks like he doesn't...

________

"Here's your soup Minah!" Yura handed over the container of soup she bought at the restaurant she was just at it. Minah took it graciously, looking at the soup in anticipation and hunger.

"Thank you Yura!" She happily thanked before digging in. She didn't even care that some of the soup was spilling down her chin, which made Yura chuckle to herself. Hearing a knock on the door, Yura ran over to answer it.

"Woobin?" Yura said in shock. There was Woobin standing there in red and green plaid PJs in the middle of the hallway.

"What do you need?" She asked. Was it something so urgent that he had to come all the way down to the fourth floor from the seventh floor?

"We need to talk...privately!" Grabbing her wrist, he yanked her out to the hallway and began pulling her with him towards the stairwell. Yura could only follow him, almost dragging on the carpeted ground like a rag doll.

"What do you need to talk about?" Yura uttered in shock as soon as they entered the stairwell.

Leaning against the wall, Woobin shot her an apologetic look, "Sorry, but this is urgent! You like a certain friend of mine..."

Yura froze. What?! Was it that obvious?

"It's pretty obvious." Woobin answered her thoughts. Yura couldn't help but flush a bright red.

"Great, there's no where to bury myself alive." She groaned.

"No don't do that! Please. But, seriously I think this would be great for the both of you! We've been trying to set up Jonghyun with girls since we first met him because, I mean, come on...he's not exactly the most...." Woobin couldn't exactly pinpoint the correct word to oppositely describe his friend.

"Colorful? Exciting? Flamboyant?" Yura suggested.

"Yeah! That! Anyway, he's dull and boring, and you're obviously desperate; it's a perfect match!"

"Hey! I'm not that des-I mean-I'm not desperate!" Yura glared at Woobin.

"Doesn't seem like it." He grinned.

Yura decided that there was no point in arguing against Woobin.

"So....you're sure he's single?"
