Chapter 05

Dreams

It was 1:00 in the moring and almost everyone was snoozing away. Yura and Minah in their respective beds, Sojin on the futon, and Hyeri on the floor. Amongst the massive piles of pillows and blankets, Hyeri was nestled comfortably as she was scrolling on her phone. Squinting her eyes, she began typing her question on the google search bank.

"Body language sweaty hands" She typed. Thousands of results showed up, all talking about the psychology behind hand movements, sweating, and more.

"Stress and anxiety..." She murmured as she clicked on the first link that showed up in the results.

"For those who experience high levels of stress, there could be a display of certain habits when they experience this. Some could be rubbing their hands together, shuffling their feet, and even playing with their own hair. On the other hand, some behavioral habits from high levels of anxiety could occur (although varies for everyone) such as, negative self-talk, lack of self-confidence, and more." Hyeri mentally read.

"That makes sense about Yura's weird habits. Not only that, but she's so harsh on herself at times too." Hyeri thought.

"Mmmphf."

Hiding her phone and pretending to be asleep, Hyeri peeked open one of her eyes to see Minah moving around in her sleep. After a seemingly long time, she stopped rolling around and went back into a deep sleep. Hyeri quietly sighed in relief.

"I guess it's time to go to sleep then." She thought. Plugging her phone into her charger nearby, she settled into the comfortable nest she made for herself, and quickly fell asleep.

Yura groaned as she woke up from her cell phone ringing. As soon as the ringing paused, Yura leaned over her bed to take a glimpse at her phone.

"3 missed calls: Hong Jonghyun"

"Woobin: You can thank me and the guys later"

"OH MY GOD!" She screamed while grabbing her phone. This jerked Sojin, who was sleeping closest to her, awake.

"YAH!" Sojin yelled, suddenly sitting up on the futon looking startled.

This caused Hyeri to wake up, groaning and mumbling about how any time that has sunlight is too early to wake up. On the other hand, Minah was still sound asleep regardless of her surroundings.

"Oh my god please still be there." Yura begged as she unlocked her phone.

Sojin groaned, "So it wasn't some natural disaster?"

"Great, now I can't get back to sleep." Hyeri moaned. Eyeing Minah, who was still soundly asleep, she couldn't help but let out a snort.

"I swear, that girl could sleep through anything, even through that annoying fire alarm we get once a month." Hyeri snorted.

"Let her sleep, at least she wasn't abruptly woken up by a certain someone." Sojin growled while glaring at Yura.

"Hello? Jonghyun?! Oh thank goodness! I'm so sorry I slept through my alarm and I just saw your missed calls." Yura frantically talked on the phone.

"Oh, so that's what this is about." Hyeri grinned at Sojin, who also grinned back at her.

"Really? Yeah I'll meet you there! See you!" Yura ended the call. Looking at Sojin and Hyeri, she screamed happily.

"What?! What is it?!" Sojin asked.

"He wants to meet up for brunch!" Yura squealed. Scrambling out of her bed, she headed straight to the bathroom.

"That reminds me, I'm hungry." Hyeri admitted. Grabbing a bag of crackers nearby, she opened them, it's cracking and crackling sounds piercing the air.

"Huh what?!" Minah mumbled as she woke up.

"Wow. It only took a bag of crackers." Sojin sighed.

Jonghyun stood in front of the cafe eyeing his phone whilst keeping his eye out for Yura. Shivering in his black trench coat thanks to the sudden gust of wind, he had to run inside the cafe to take refuge.

"Are you still waiting for her?" The hostess asked him, seeing that Jonghyun had been standing for the past thirty minutes.

He shook his head in response, "Yes, but she's coming soon."

"That's what he said ten minutes ago." The hostess mumbled as she shuffled the menus on the table.

From the corner of his eye, he saw Yura running as fast as she could towards the cafe. As a rush of relief came over him, he ran out of the cafe and began waving towards her.

"Jonghyun!!!!" Yura screamed as she was running while trying to avoid passerby.

Once she reached to the cafe, she immediately crouched over and tried to catch her breath. Jonghyun couldn't help but laugh at the sight. Yura only frowned at him in response.

"You try getting ready and running all the way over here in thirty minutes." She grumbled.

"I don't need to because I'm always on time." He grinned.

Making their way into the cafe, they were immediately seated by the annoyed hostess. Sitting across from each other, both parties couldn't help but feel nervous about their so called "date".

"How are you?" Jonghyun nervously asked.

Yura bit her lip, "I'm good, how are you?"

"I'm good." Jonghyun responded.

"That's good." Yura awkwardly said.

"This is not going to go as smoothly as I thought it would." Jonghyun internally groaned to himself.

"Hey did Yura leave yet?" Woobin asked as he abruptly walked into the dorm.

"Woobin! There's this thing called knocking!" Minah scolded him as she was doing her homework.

"I'm just curious! Is she with Jonghyun?" Woobin asked Minah.

"What are you talking about? And how do you know about this?" Minah suspiciously asked. Woobin was giving her an unusual vibe, and she did not like it one bit. Putting her pencil down, she got up from her desk and walked over to Woobin, who was sprawled on the futon.

"I don't know if you noticed bubble head, but I've been trying to set them up together." Woobin said to the suspicious girl who was slightly glaring at him.

"Everyone knows that. It's even more obvious that they like each other. And what kind of a name is bubble head?" Minah cried out.

"Shush bubble head you're going to give me a headache. Anyway, I'm worried. Romance isn't Jonghyun's kind of thing." Woobin said.

"I don't think anything that's fun is Jonghyun's kind of thing." Minah deadpanned.

"Okay you got a point there, but still! Jonghyun needs some sunshine in his life, and Yura needs someone to make her more confident and secure." Woobin pointed out.

"Yura is the epitome of confidence, I don't know what you're talking about." Minah defended.

"Oh bubble head, you still have a lot of things to learn." Woobin shook his head.

"No, you still have a lot of things to learn!" Minah defended even more. Woobin knew that this wasn't going anywhere, and decided to just go straight to the point.

"Okay fine. Is Yura with Jonghyun right now at that cafe?" Woobin exasperated.

"Yeah she is. Now that I think about it, how did you make Jonghyun ask her?" Minah asked.

"The guys and I took his homework away and told him that he wouldn't be able to finish it until after his date with Yura. Nerd! He's going to thank us one day." Woobin snorted.

"Thank you Woobin's parents for conceiving him." Jonghyun thought.

Although the date started out awkwardly earlier, their conversations slowly began to pick up, and eventually everything was going smoothly like he had hoped.

"-So then they decided to just give me a morphine injection because it just hurt so much!" Yura exclaimed.

"Yura..how do you even get into these situations?" Jonghyun timidly asked, feeling a little concerned about how Yura seemed to attract these weird situations.

"Bad fish." She responded as she took a bite of her salad.

"Got it." Jonghyun couldn't help but let out a goofy grin.

"So Jonghyun, why did you decide to live on campus when you're actually from Seoul?" Yura asked, taking another bite of her salad. Yura made a mental note to refer this place to her friends.

"I wanted to try something new. Plus I wouldn't be friends with Sungjoon, Youngkwang, and Woobin to begin with if I didn't decide to live on campus." He admitted, feeling a little weird that he was actually holding his friends in high regard for once.

"That's understandable. How did you find out about this place? This salad is so good!" Yura exclaimed. Taking a sip of water, she looked up at Jonghyun who responded.

"My ex-girlfriend and I came here a lot."

Yura couldn't help but choke on her water. Coughing heavily, Yura grabbed the glass of water and tried to take another sip to stop herself from coughing. Breathing heavily, she quickly looked at Jonghyun, not sparing him one bit from her deadly glare.

Jonghyun knew immediately that he had just ruined their date. "N-n-no I meant like I only picked this place because it's good! My ex and I went to this place a lot that's why!" His claim did not alleviate Yura's death glare at all. In fact, it only seemed to have made it worse.

"Look Yura can we forget about this? I mean, relationships are a silly thing anyway right?" Jonghyun nervously laughed, doing his best to alleviate the situation.

"Excuse me?" Yura shrieked. Slamming her napkin on to the table, she quickly put on her coat and grabbed her purse.

"No Yura! I didn't mean that! I only said that because what we had was only a fling!" Jonghyun frantically said as he chased her out of the cafe. People around them couldn't help but gasp at his remark.

"Oh he is so getting it." An old lady said to her group of friends as they gossiped about what had just happened.

Yura immediately stopped her speed walking. She then slowly turned around, and began approaching Jonghyun.

"Oh thank god Yura. I'm glad you underst-"

"Damn she hit you HARD!" Sungjoon exclaimed as he took a look at Jonghyun's left cheek. His left cheek had a nasty dark red mark on it thanks to Yura's slap. Sungjoon couldn't help but poke the growingly red spot.

"You idiot! Stop poking it!" Jonghyun yelled at Sungjoon. Youngkwang quickly put himself between the two before Sungjoon could be shredded to pieces.

"You!" Youngkwang pointed at Sungjoon, "You're not making this any better for him and for us!" He scolded, causing Sungjoon to sulk and go over towards the chair in the corner of the room.

"And you!" Youngkwang pointed at Jonghyun with the same vigor he used at Sungjoon. "Don't take it out on us since we were the ones who have been trying to help you get this date with Yura! And YOU'RE the one for actually screwing it up !" Youngkwang scolded.

Jonghyun's glare was interrupted when Woobin came in with a pack of ice in his hand.

"Here, this should help with the redness. Now explain what happened." Woobin tossed him the ice pack.

Nestling the ice pack onto his face, Jonghyun let the coolness of the ice take away some of the pain before he began his story. "Well, it all started when she asked me how I found out about the place we ate. And so I just told her that it was the place my ex and I went to-"

Collective groans and slaps went around the room. Jonghyun only glared at all three of them, feeling even more bothered that they interrupted him.

"Who in their right mind would say that? On a first date no less!" Sungjoon cried out.

"You, my friend, have no common sense." Youngkwang shook his head.

"Say goodbye to Yura." Woobin said.

Jonghyun groaned, "Stop it! Anyway, she started choking. Once she finished choking, I told her that I only picked this place because it was good, and I knew it was good because my ex and I went there a lot. Anyway, then I tried to ease the mood a bit by telling her that relationships were silly because what I had shouldn't even be counted as a relationship. Then she got even more pissed and decided to leave. So, on her way out, I managed to stop her by telling her that it was merely a fling, and then she slapped the living daylights out of me."

"You...you...you IDIOT!" Youngkwang groaned as he buried his face into his hands.

"Jonghyun you better apologize to her later tonight." Woobin threatened him.

Sungjoon couldn't help but stare at Jonghyun in amazement, "...you actually had a girlfriend in the past?"

"That idiot! I'm going to kill him!" Sojin growled.

"Let's make a voodoo doll and shove every needle up his !" Hyeri suggested.

"My uncle works for the government! I'm sure they have a way of getting rid of people." Minah exclaimed.

Yura could only groan and turn away from her friends. Buried under three blankets, and a multitude of pillows and more, she couldn't help but think about what had happened earlier today. She was ecstatic about seeing Jonghyun, but she left the cafe feeling empty and angry.

"Come on Yura, maybe it was an understanding. Let's give it some time okay? For now, do you need us for anything?" Minah asked as she rubbed Yura's back through the thick blankets.

A "No" was whimpered from the pile of blankets, and the three girls stepped away, understanding their friend's situation.

"We'll be in the other room okay? Just knock on the wall if you need anything." Sojin said as she hugged her blanket-covered friend.

Once the door shut closed, Yura let out another groan.

"I hate my life."
