“Should I give him the story of someone that I already wrote?,” he said.

He is now, a ghost writer of a popular writer, Park Hyun.

In a broadcast room, a radio DJ reading the script for today, an early morning radio broadcast, she keep making some sound with her hand,

“Unnie, just read it quietly,” the radio PD said, then she is glaring at her,

“Hey, why talking about ghost in the morning?, ” she asked after putting the script on the table, “it won’t be scary,” she said then drink her Americano,

“Hmm, it won’t be scary because it’s not a horror movie, it’s not an actual ghost, we are talking about the ghost writer, it’s really hot right now after a rumor about a famous writer paid a ghost writer to make her/his work. So, the topic isn’t a real ghost, okay?,” she said, the DJ take the script again then reading it again while nodding, “ we’ll start in 15 minutes,” she said then leave her.

“If you blantly say that it’s about that rumor, it’ll cause trouble for this radio broadcast,” she said but the PD ignored her,“And I hate all the thing that called ghost, a real or fake one, I just hate it,” she said, but the PD couldn’t heard that because she already leaving.

The radio broadcast start after 15 minutes, after opening the DJ talking about ghost,

“Today, still in hot season, we are meeting again in new month, the hottest month, July. Our good morning’s listeners, when I say summer, what kind of thing you’ll think for the first time,” she said as opening, “ice, watermelon, beach, and we shouldn’t forget about this one, horror movie, right?,” she said, PD giving him okay sign, “I know it won’t be scary right if we talk about ghost in early morning, but this ghost that we’ll talk about is not the real one, it’s about someone who look like ghost, like their existence for example. So, let’s start talking about that, you can send it to us now, we’ll chose two from the stories then we’ll send a special gift for this morning,” then she saw the gift that PD give to her, “the gift are on my hands now, the first give is a popular restaurant coupon there are 2 coupons here and our radio icon doll, the second gift is coffee coupon and our radio icon doll,” she said then looking at the monitor, “then, we’ll be waiting for the mail, and we’ll listen to a song that really fit summer, ‘loving you’ by sistar,” when the music start, she’s singing a long then, “after this I’ll read the first story,” she said. Then she got a call, from her friend,

“Why?,” she asked,

“Hey, it’s already two years since that accident, don’t you want to go back to your real work, stop your current job and back to the office,” she said. She was an exclusive editor for a popular novelist, but she decided to step down from that job because of some reason,

“I’m really fine with this job, as long as it’s far from that jerk. I had experience as a radio DJ when I were high schoolar,” she said.

“Hey, Joohyun-ah, please. He’s writing his new novel now, he has his own editor. I’ll put you as an editor for child book, or literature book, isn’t that nice?,” she begged.

“If he get a new editor, then just let me live my life, okay?,” she said then end the call, the song is almost end too, “okay, we already listen to the first song this morning, ‘Loving you’ by sistar. Sistar song is really fit for this hot season, then I’ll choose the first story that listeners sent to us,” she said while scrolling down some mail, then she choosed one, “listener Kim_reader sent us this story, ‘I had a friend when I was high scholar. A whole school call him ghost, the reason is because he know someone future just by touching someone hand. There are students who want to know about their future and there are some student who avoided him. The rumor said that almost 100% what he said was true. If you meet that kind of person, what will you do DJ-nim?,” she finished reading the first story, “it’s someone abilty that can read someone future, they called him a ghost because he know someone future. If I meet someone like him, I’ll tell him, ‘someone future is on god’s hand, if I know that even before it happen, it won’t be a surprise then’, I told him/her that because I don’t like it if someone tell me about my future, like what fortune-teller did. Then, we’ll sent the first gift to Kim_reader-nim, it’ll arrived at your house by tomorrow, please send your address to us, ” she said then backsound can be heard, “for the second story, I’ll read it after some advertisement,” she said then leave her seat to go to bathroom, there, someone calling her again, “what’s wrong with her, she doesn’t go to work?,” she asked to herself then pick up the call, “what?,” she asked.

“He said that he’s missing you,” she suddenly said that words, who is the one who miss her, “our boss really miss you,” she said, she really look mad.

“What?, do you think that words are something that I want to hear?, let’s meet tonight at my place, okay?, just go to your work now,” she said then end the call. She back to the broadcasting room, the PD looking at her,

“Where were you going, unnie?,” she asked, she is younger than her, but she never respect her as someone who is older than her, “it’ll end in 10 second,” she said then tell her to back to her seat,

After playing a song, she start reading the second story that she choosed, no, she isn’t the one who choosed that, the PD told her to read that story, that dangerous story,

Recently there is a rumor about a popular writer who have a ghost writer,

Do you know who is that writer?, and what is ghost writer?,

“Why you did this to me?, it’s not even a story,” she asked to the PD without making a sound,

“Just do your job,” she said then told the DJ to answer the story.

“Why are you giving me a question?, we asked you to send us a story. Okay, because you sent us something, I’ll answer it. I don’t really know who is the writer, and I don’t have interest in that, for second question isn’t ghost writer someone who write behind the real writer or should I say a writer’s assistant?,” she said then grinning, “then I’ll choose another story, sorry for listener 09_yeon we couldn’t send you a gift,” she said then choosed another story. Radio broadcast end in an hour, before it end, “I’m here, look at me..because I’m not a ghost, so don’t be afraid. There is no one who won’t to be left out, so don’t leave them alone..tell them that we are here together,” she said, then come out from broadcasting room, “09_yeon-nim, ” she called someone right after PD-nim walking to her, “if you want to do something dangerous, do it yourself. Are you that curious about that ghost writer?,” she asked then leave broadcast room. On her way to the parking lot, someone call her, “Why?,” she asked, the same person who called her this morning,

“You said you won’t meet that jerk, then what was that?,” she asked.

“Ms. Kang, if you are talking about today broadcast, then I’ll answer right now. She ordered me to read that, the PD. Okay, I can avoid to read that mail, but I already read the sender name, so I read what’s her story, in the end I didn’t talk that long about it, end..,” she said.

“He want to meet you, he called me right after the broadcast end,” she said, the one who want to meet her is the novelist and her ex-boyfriend,

“Why?, it’s not only him who using ghost writer?, why he thought that we talk about him?,” she asked.

“Because the DJ is you, just come to his house and apologize,” she said.

“Why?, until today he never say sorry or thank you to me, why I apologize to him when I didn’t do something wrong, ” she asked, then become quiet,

“Okay, then don’t apologize, just explain what happen today, okay?,” she said, then Joohyun end the call.

“Why I must do what he asked me to, this jerk really,” she said, but then an hour later she is already standing in front of his house a big house of a popular writer. After ringing the bell, an ahjumma who worked with him for years recognize her,

“How have you been, agashi?,” she asked, Joohyun smiling then bowing to her, “did he want you to come?,” she asked again.

“Yes, he want to see me,” she said. She is now in a garden, a small garden, there he is, reading something, “I come,” she said then bowing, he is looking at her,

“You are really brave, right?, was that a revenge?,” he asked.

“Why I must do that to you?, did you did something bad to me?,” she asked, it’s like teasing him, “so, you must be really uncomfortable when you heard I become a radio DJ, right?,” she asked, he look angry, “you must afraid that I’ll say something about your past, ah, you still do it until now, but what happen today isn’t my fault, ask the PD or the writer, I did what they asked. And, they don’t know that I was your exclusive editor, and I won’t be that stupid to bring it out,” she said, but then she stop when she is looking at an old notebook, “whose notebook is that?,” she asked.

“It’s mine,” he said while avoiding her gaze,

“It’s me writer-nim, don’t try to fool me, I know that’s not yours, you never have that kind of notebook, an old one,” she said, he keep avoiding her, “that’s the ghost’s notebook, right?,” she asked, he doesn’t answer, “let me meet your ghost, isn’t he always behind you?,” she asked.

“What are you talking about?, just go I won’t ask you to come again,” he said.

“Why?, just tell me where he is?, the ghost who always at your back,” she asked once more time,

“I said just go, I won’t dragging this matter again later, so just go,” but she is still there, she won’t go until he tell her about the owner of the notebook,

“That ghost writer, his surename is Kim, right?,” she asked, he look surprised after heard that, avoiding her again,“okay, then, I’m sure that he is someone I know. Where is he know?, should I asked you 100 times until you answer?, where is he now, that ghost writer?,” she is sure that he is someone she know, dongsaeng from the same middle school as her years ago, “how much do you know about him?, since when did you know him, 2 years ago, 3 years ago?,” she keep asking but he really close his mouth, “wah..I don’t want to go this far, but it’s look like you are the one who ask me to do it. If you choosed to close that mouth, then I choose to use my mouth to tell everyone about your story,” she said, it sound like threat, he shoot his laser eyes to her, “I don’t really scare at those eyes anymore, writer-nim, just tell me right now,” she said.

“We never meet at his house, ” he suddenly confessing about his ghost writer, “we usually meet at a café, Black café, Itaewon,” he said, still avoiding her gaze, she take picture of the notebook,

“Thank you for that information, I won’t tell anyone about your secret,” she said, grinning then leave the house.

She take a deep breath while looking at the café’s door, it’s still close,

“Ah, it’s too early for me to come here,” she said then looking at her watch, 10 a.m, “it’ll open in an hour,” she said then looking around, “should I buy something for breakfast,” she said, when she is about to leave the café, someone come with two paper bags on his hand, he is looking at her,

“Do you want to come to my café?, want a breakfast?,” he asked, she is looking at him, and start acting,

“Someone told me that this café’s food is really delicious so I want to try it for my breakfast, but I come too early,” she said, her stomach support her acting, “sorry, I’m really hungry,” she said, he is smiling to her,

“Then I’ll make food for your breakfast, special food?, let’s go,” he said then open the door for her, she is smiling because she successed, ,

“Are you the owner of this café?,” she asked, he start cooking,

“I’m running it with my friend, my close friend,” he said, not long after that, a simple breakfast, bibimbap is there,

“Wah, do you sell this kind of food in your café?,” she asked then starting to take the spoon, “thank you for the food,” she said then start eating. Someone come, she is familiar with his voice,

“You have customer?, but we still close,” he said while walking closer,

“Special customer, a customer who good at acting,” he said, it make her chocking, “she want to meet you, right, noona?,” he said, how did he know that I’m older than him?, I never said anything about my age, “you said you really miss her, ” he said, making her confused. That someone who just come smiling, like he is starting to know who is the one who sit there,

“How are you, noona?,” he asked, Joohyun turn her body to face him, he is smiling, “long time no see, noona,” he said.

“It’s like you expect me to come, right?,” she asked, “ghost writer –nim, I think you have so much to say to me,” she said while showing him the picture of a notebook,

“You don’t know who is he?,” he change the topic, he asking while pointing at the other men, Joohyun shaking her head, “wah, your memory must be really bad, noona. You met him when you are in 3^rd grade of high school, the last semester,” he keep giving her the hint, she keep looking at the men who cooked for her, trying to remember him, “someone who good at cooking,” he said, she know who is he, it’s that boy, she met him when that ghost writer asked her to come with him to a ddokbukki cart near school,

“Ah..that boy,” she said realizing, “you change so much, didn’t you have a chubby cheek back then?, ” she asked, he is nodding while smiling, “what’s your name?,” she asked, because she remember him, but not his name,

“Jimin..,” he said, “is it delicious, noona?,” he asked, Joohyun smiling while nodding, “then enjoy your time here, I’ll prepare before the café open,” he said then leave them.

After finishing her food, she is looking around the café and found a small room in the corner,

“What’s with that room?,” she asked, because eventhough it’s small, it’s look really extravagant,

“Reading palm, fortune teller room, I’m the fortune teller,” he said.

“Hey, what are you doing?, you said you hate it when people called you palm reader,” then she is realizing something, “then you wrote the story from your customer?, and sell it to that writer?,” she asked.

“Yeah, that’s right, I’m the ghost who hide behind him, I’m the one who give him those notebooks so he can choose which story he like then I’ll help him to write it,” he said, calmly.

“Then stop it, you shouldn’t do that from the start,” she said.

“After my mom left me with such a big debt and I need some money for living. I was the one who luring him so he would buy my story, he really take it.”

“Hey, you had other talent, you can looking for another job, right?,” she said.

“I tried it, but it wasn’t going well so I decided to collaborated with my friend. And I know about your relationship with him, ” he said, she look surprised, “I’m really relieved after heard that you decided to break up with him.”

“How did you know that I dated him, not many people know about that,” she asked.

“I was shaking hand with him so many time, everytime I meet him, I know that you are his girlfriend through that. but, he still doesn’t know that I can read future just by touching someone,” he said.

Yeah, he is that ghost. Since middle school, a lot of his friends know that he have that kind of ability. He often hang out with Joohyun, their friends always said, “be careful, there is ghost behind you.”
