Forgiving him 77 Times

You woke up groggily from your slumber, rubbing away the eye crust that had formed around your corneas over night before staring blankly at your surroundings. The foreign white flurry rug at the side of the room and silky blue curtains glaring back at you, as if challenging you to remember your surroundings.

“Ahhh” You exhaled a groan and smacked your palm against your forehead. You had totally forgotten the fact that you were crashing at Taehyung’s place since you left Jungkook because you didn’t know how to go back home and because you couldn’t find a place to stay on such a short notice. Besides, you wanted to take care if your own emotions first before dealing with others and you had no idea what you were supposed to tell your mom anyways.

Were you supposed to tell her how your marriage ended in failure but it wasn’t even a real marriage to begin with anyways?

You sat up in your bed, sliding your thumb across the phone to unlock it, wanting to look at the past messages you had with Jungkook. Although you had been the one to initiate a divorce and had been the one to left him, you still couldn’t cut away the memories that you had forged whilst you were with him. And you found yourself looking over the messages that the two of you had sent when you were still together in hopes that this separation would only be temporary and that the two of you would be like how it was back then. But you knew better than that, and you knew that the separation definitely wasn’t temporary.

12th November 2017

Jungkook: you should’ve came with us, this place is fantastic [12.04am]

You: so great and fantastic that you’re on your phone texting me and not having fun? [12.06am]

Jungkook: beats being at home alone curled up in your sweats, watching friends and waiting for my texts. [12.08am]

You: yeah right! Please. And how would you know? [12.09am]

Jungkook: you don’t have to beg. I could come home now and yknow we could ;) [12.10am]

You: God. [12.11am]

Jungkook: that’s what you’ll be calling for when we’re in bed [12.12am]

As you scrolled through the messages, a bitter smile had made its way onto your face. You remembered how the two of you had bantered shamelessly and flirtatiously through the texts like it was a challenge, but that you’d always be the one not replying thereafter, just to a little and play hard to get.

But you see, that’s what it was. It was always endless flirting and bantering with Jungkook and then something up, where you get hurt or frustrated and he doesn’t know or just simply brushed it off as a minor thing, til your patience run out.

Yet another cause of the 77 heartbreaks that Jungkook had given you.

Holding in the stuffy feeling in your chest, you wanted to look at more messages between Jungkook and you but you heard a knock on the door.

“Come in,” you propped your knees up against your chest and smiled warmly at Taehyung as he gently opened the door, holding a small table that held a tray of food in his hands, delivering breakfast in bed to you.

Taehyung placed the table beside you on your bed while he poured your favorite tea for you onto the cup and you took it from him, thanking him gratefully.

There he was, always so kind and caring towards you, albeit not in the romantic type of way. At least, you had never seen it that way. You always treated Taehyung as your older brother and you had assumed he had thought of you that way too. After all, you had seen him falling in love with other girls and that the way he had treated you definitely wasn’t his style of treatment to girls he liked. Besides, the two of you had been friends from high school all through law school to now, if anything were to be developed, it would have already happened but it didn’t.

That was probably why you were so comfortable around Taehyung though. Knowing that he was your constant and a kinship type of support, that he would never take advantage of you or anything like that.

The two of you sat in silence as Taehyung meddled with his phone and judging from the smile on his face, you reckoned that he was probably texting his crush. Curiously, you peeked at his phone, trying to see what he was texting to that girl.

“Yah, who’s that?” you smirked at Taehyung teasingly, nudging his arm, trying to get him to spill his secret.

“Wh-what?” Taehyung’s cheeks immediately reddened and tussled his soft brown hair.

You laugh at his apparent fluster, got off your bed and started pushing him out your room in order to get changed for work. Taehyung started protesting from being hustled out, demanding that you at least give him a hug to express your gratitude for his breakfast and that you should wash the dishes before you leave for work. But as usual, you playfully closed the door in his face, leaving him to his own grumpiness.

And that was the dynamics of your friendship with Taehyung. He was always so kind and caring towards you, albeit in the not so romantic type of way.

You had always thought of him as your older brother and had assumed he thought of you in that way too. After all, being friends for such a long time, if anything were to be developed, it would have already happened but it didn’t. That was probably why you were so comfortable around Taehyung, knowing that he’d never be one of those that were trying to get into your pants or to take advantage of you.

You prepped your Alexander McQueen suit, patting your gray pencil skirt down your legs before slipping your black Prada pumps into your feet. You headed out the door, picking up your Chanel bag in the process while mentally reminding yourself to get a new one, for this bag only served to remind you of the first day in your married life with Jungkook.

Specifically speaking, the first time you spoke to Jungkook since forever. Shaking your head off these thoughts, you strode off to your car in your Prada heels, driving off to work.

The one with your graduation day

It was your Graduation day from Law school, a supposedly joyous occasion that you weren’t sure of. And what was the reason for your doubt? You had received a sponsorship deal for the Kim & Jeon Law firm that specialized in alimonies and divorces. And if you did accept that deal, you’d stand to gain since your starting salary would be a hefty one and in addition, your school feed would be fully paid off.

There was only one catch.

Your dream was to be a prosecutor, not a divorce and alimony lawyer. You weren’t sure how thi
