Da-in's POV
After that incident, Daniel and I look around the pharmacy. As I start to walk, Euigeon puts his arm around my waist to support me.
"Ah, I think I could manage, Daniel," I insist.
"I'm no doctor, but you shouldn't be walking on your own."
"I'm not a wuss, Kang Daniel."
"I know you aren't. But, still. Either don't walk around or walk around with me."
Finally, I give up and sit back down. Daniel smiles as I finally give in.
Hitting his shoulder, I pout. "Stop smiling, you big goof," I mumble.
He only smiles wider, even after I told him not to. "I'll look around for you then."
Euigeon leaves me on the bench as he looks around the place. In the meantime, I stare and pick at my bandaged leg. Even if it's for a little bit, I can't stand staying in one place for too long.
When Daniel comes back, I sit up straight, excited to see him come back. "You were taking so long that I started to think that you left me. Did you find anything?"
"You're acting as if I've been away for years. And, no, I didn't find anything interesting. "
I stomp my feet on the floor. "Well, then why are we still here?" I ask, wincing as I put pressure on my calf.
Daniel points. "THAT'S why. There are also too many zombies outside. We can't exactly outrun them in this kind of state."
He whips out the map. "See? We're the blinking dot. As you can see, we're far away from the clock tower that we're supposed to meet the others," Daniel says. "We have to wait until your leg gets better."
I groan, slouching on the bench. "This is going to take a while."
A while later...
"How about... now?"
"No."
I groan in despair. In the meantime, I have built a tower of bandages made out of... well bandages. Sitting up, I realize that we're running out of the time as the sun starts to set.
"Ah! How about we contact them on the walkie-talkies?" I ask.
Taking out the radio, I try to tune into the other guys' walkies. But before I can get a signal, Daniel snatches it out of my hand.
"Hey!"
"We can't. The guys are on the other side of the city. By the time they arrive, it will already be dark. Then we'll all be doomed."
I roll on the floor in defeat, knocking my precious tower over.
"Look, Euigeon, I'm okay. At this rate, I could briskly walk to escape the zombies."
Daniel sighs, "I won't take that risk."
He paces back and forth while my eyes follow him in a bored manner. Sitting on the cold floor, I cross my arms folding them upon my legs.
After a long while, I hear a sigh.
"See? There is no better option here. We're wasting time," I say.
"You're right."
"I know I'm right-"
I stop my sentence short as I see Daniel kneeling down with his back turned against me.
"W-what are you doing?"
"What does it look like I'm doing?" He says matter-of-factly. "You can't outrun those guys with a brisk walk."
"I don't do piggybacks Kang Daniel."
"We don't have a choice. Besides, I'm the fastest out of the whole group. These muscles aren't just for show."
I rack my mind, searching for other ideas and options.
"Come on Da-in. We don't have all day."
With no other options, I sigh, jumping onto Daniel's back. He lifts me up, supporting myself with his arms curling around my legs.
"Woah, you're lighter than I thought.
Resting my chin on his shoulder, I gasp before I knock him on the head. He merely smirks at me, picking up our bags.
He walks over to the back door, peeking his head out into the alley.
"The coast is clear."
We make a run for it down the alley. As we turn around the corner, we come face to face with a zombie. But it doesn't last long as I take a knife out of my back pocket and stab the zombie's head. Daniel kicks the body away and continues to run.
As we're running, we encounter a few zombies, but nothing that I can't handle.
After going down a path, I see the clock
