Chapter 23; Good a** movie

Red Lines

  SUMMER; June

Friday -- Evening

“Text me if you’re going to go eat after the movie!” Jungkook’s father calls out, rushing out the door to an emergency meeting for work. “And just text me if anything comes up! Bye!”

Jiyoo and Jungkook wave to Jungkook’s father until the door shut. Once he was long gone, their masks came off and sly smiles appeared on their faces.

“Do you have money for the snacks?” Jiyoo asks, making sure that she had enough space in her bag for the extra snacks she was going to sneak in for the movie.

“Of course.” Jungkook says confidently, “I don’t like owing favors.”

He was referring to the fact that Hyunbin was somehow getting them into seeing Highschool of the Dead for tonight. Technically he really didn’t need to since going along with Hyunbin was their ‘favor’. Jungkook was just stubborn.

Jiyoo takes a moment to zip up her purse before slinging the strap over her shoulder. “We don’t owe any favors though?”

Jungkook shrugs and begins to put on his shoes as Jiyoo does the same. He doesn’t mention that he still thinks that getting into the movie thanks to Hyunbin was a bit much compared to just pretending to be friends with him for the night. The thought quickly disappears after seeing Jiyoo stand at the door in her outfit tonight.

“Are you sure you won’t be cold tonight?” Jungkook says unsurely.

“I need to look older tonight so that they don’t get suspicious.”

Jiyoo was wearing the outfit that Jimin picked the day they went to the mall. Her flowy pants and thin pink collared shirt looked a bit too little clothing in Jungkook’s opinion, even if the shirt was a long sleeved one. Jiyoo clicks her tongue and opens her bag, revealing one of Jungkook’s jackets.

“Movie theatres are always cold, so I’m borrowing one, kay?”

Jungkook likes the sound of that. He smiles and they interlock fingers, stepping out of the house and making their way down to the movie theatre together to meet Hyunbin. As they walked in the dead of night, the two couldn’t help but fill the quiet air with the sounds of their laughter. It was hard to not enjoy each other’s company, especially when there was nothing else to do.

The summer night wasn’t too cold, allowing them to walk comfortably to the movie theatres. The bright lights made Jiyoo and Jungkook excited for the movie, especially since a big poster for it was plastered on the station wall.

“Ah! Hyunbin!” Jiyoo calls, surprising not only Jungkook but Hyunbin and his friend as well.

They walk over to one another, giving their short greetings and such. Hyunbin looked a bit anxious, but his friend seemed even more excited than Jiyoo and Jungkook were.

“So…” Hyunbin’s friend said curiously, “These are your friends?”

“I told you I had friends in school hyung.” Hyunbin says without missing a beat.

“I know, but I just wanted to see them up close.” His friend almost pouts. “I’m Jisung, by the way.”

Jungkook gives a small nod, barely noticeable to anyone that wasn’t watching him carefully. “My name is Jungkook and this is Jiyoo.”

“Hello.” Jiyoo says on cue, shooting a smile at Jisung.

He remained serious for a moment before his shoulders dropped, upper lip jutting out as his eyes began to water. Jisung pulled Jiyoo and Jungkook into a hug and swung them around much like how a father would do to his kids.

“You two are so cute!” He almost squealed. Jisung looked at Hyunbin before pulling out some money from his pocket, “Well? Let’s go and see that movie!”

The four walked to buy their tickets, eagerly watching as Jisung paid for their tickets and walked with them into the main hall where the snacks were. Pulling out his wallet again, he slides money into Hyunbin’s hand.

“I want a large popcorn and a medium drink,” Jisung hums, looking at Jiyoo and Jungkook. “What do you guys want?”

“N-No, we can pay for ourselves!” Jiyoo tried to argue.

Jisung shakes his head and tosses Hyunbin his wallet. “I’m the oldest, I pay. Don’t sass me lil miss.” He says playfully, making Jiyoo and Jungkook unable to do anything.

Hyunbin takes Jisung’s money and goes over to the concession stand once he knows what everyone wants. It’s funny because it almost looks as though he skitters off, his long legs moving in small steps.

“You guys really aren’t his friends, are you?”

Jiyoo and Jungkook freeze. They were caught before the movie could even start. Their eyes avoid looking at Jisung as he lets out a sigh. “It’s alright, I’m not mad.”

“Hyunbin is still our classmate though..” Jiyoo added softly, as if it were to soothe the blow.

“That much was obvious.” Jisung chuckles, “I just don’t want him to stray away from people too much. I worry for him, know what I mean?”

He lets out a sigh again and looks at Jiyoo and Jungkook, successfully getting them to look him in the eyes as well. “If you do end up being friends with him, just don’t too much. He’s a bit sensitive.”

“He’s an Alpha though?” Jiyoo says confusedly.

Jisung laughs, putting his hands on his knee before using the other to ruffle Jiyoo’s hair. “Just because he’s an Alpha doesn’t mean he’s invincible or something.”

“Sorry, she’s a bit hierarchy blinded.” Jungkook adds, not missing the way that Jiyoo glared at him.

“Don’t worry about it.” Jisung says with a smile. He points a finger at himself, “I’m an Omega too, you know? I’m surprised you couldn’t tell.”

Jiyoo’s eyes grow wide. She definitely wouldn’t have been able to tell that Jisung was an Omega. He was practically b with confidence, making him appear as a Beta in the least.

Their conversation comes to an end once Hyunbin comes back, his arms full of snacks and popcorn. He had a giddy smile on his face as everyone took what they wanted. They walked towards the theatre and were barely able to squeeze into some front row seats before getting comfortable. Shutting off their phones before they watch the movie, Jiyoo and Jungkook are ready.

They felt the excitement build in their stomachs again, unaware of what was to come for the movie and why it was rated R. Not only that, but they didn’t know they were going to be visited by a few unwanted guests later.

--

“Do you think I was too harsh to Jiyoo and Jungkook?” Seokjin says worriedly, glancing over his shoulder as he changed lanes.

They were driving over to Jiyoo’s house with a few bags of ice cream. It ate away at him knowing that they really wanted to go to the movie, but he’d said no.

“Well I mean it was rated R..” Namjoon says unsurely. He too felt guilty, but there was nothing he could do about the fact that they were underage.

The rest of the drive was quiet. They pulled up to Jungkook’s house and found it odd that all of the lights were off. Jungkook’s father’s car wasn’t in the driveway, which wasn’t as surprising since he was known to have to go to late night work meetings. What put the rest of the guys off was that the light in Jungkook’s room was off, even though it was only 11:30 PM. Jiyoo and Jungkook were notorious for staying up in the ungodly hours of the night.

Taehyung was the first to scramble out of the car. He was uneasy the entire car ride to Jungkook’s house. Walking up to the front door, he twists the doorknob to find the door locked. Knocking on the door, he grows more impatient when nobody answers.

“Why aren’t they answering?” Jimin says with a frown. “They can’t be asleep yet, can they?”

Seokjin was the first to pull out his phone and call Jungkook. When he doesn’t answer, nor does he hear anything from upstairs, he makes the move to call Jiyoo- when he realizes he doesn’t have her number.

“Does anybody have Jiyoo’s number?” Seokjin asks, watching as his friend’s faces turn bitter.

The only person who pulled out their phone was Hoseok. Everyone watched, being surprised and slightly bitter as he dialed Jiyoo’s number. When she doesn’t pick up, Hoseok slides his phone back in his pocket and shrugs his shoulders.

There’s a slight pause then. Taehyung is already beginning to hound Hoseok for Jiyoo’s number while the others are trying to figure out what their next move was.

“I’m going to call Jungkook’s dad.” Namjoon says, pulling out his own phone and dialing the number. It takes a few rings before a small grunt was heard on the other side of the phone. “Hello? Sir?”

“What’s the matter Namjoon?” Jungkook’s father says, his voice tired as he lets out a yawn.

“We wanted to come over tonight, but we noticed that you weren’t home.” He says carefully, holding his respectful tone despite how even he was starting to get anxious by the darkness in the house.

“Ah, yeah. I had a last minute work meeting, so I’m on my way to work.” Jungkook’s father says quickly, “You can just call Jungkook to let you in the house- Oh wait.”

“I forgot to tell you that Jungkook and Jiyoo went to go watch a movie tonight with their friend. There’s a spare key taped to the top of the mailbox if you guys still want to hang out.”

“Wait, sir! What movie did they go to watch?” Seokjin asks quickly.

“Some anime thing? I don’t know. Sorry guys I have to go. Just make sure they don’t get back too late, yeah? Bye!”

The call went dead. As Namjoon slid his phone back into his pocket, the others began to pile into the car again.

As they drove off, the house key in the mailbox was left behind but not forgotten in case they needed it later. Seokjin and Namjoon were no longer feeling guilty for telling Jiyoo and Jungkook they couldn’t watch the movie.

“It’s not even a big deal though.” Suga grumbles, just like the day that Jiyoo and Jungkook had been caught. “It’s not like we didn’t watch R rated movies underage.”

“That’s why I’m worried.” Seokjin says lowly, grinding his teeth together as he steps on the gas.

--

“Wasn’t the movie good kids?”

Jisung walks out the theatre doors with a spring in his step. He has a happy smile on his face, “Man, I haven’t watched a movie in forever!”

Hyunbin nods his head, but doesn’t speak. His eyes only stare at the floor as he tries to will away the flush on his face. Jiyoo and Jungkook were too shocked to say anything.

The three had all watched Highschool of the Dead before, but that was years ago. This movie was new and took aspects of something akin to soft . Not only that, but the movie was full of fanservice, barely revolving around the zombie attacks or any action scenes at all- unless you counted the scenes as action.

“To think that the Takashi kid had such a harem.” Jisung whistles. He looks over at Hyunbin who was still trying to process his own thoughts. Unknowing to Hyunbin, a sneaky grin appears on Jisung’s face. “Now we just need to get you a girlfriend Hyunbin-ah.”

Jisung gives Jiyoo a small glance before raising his eyebrows suggestively. Only then does Hyunbin realize what Jisung is trying to do. He waves his hands out, trying to dismiss the notion. Hyunbin tries to tell Jungkook not to pay attention to Jisung, mostly because he still thinks that Jungkook’s overprotectiveness for Jiyoo meant that he didn’t like others going after her.

This was true, but in Hyunbin’s mind, he almost thought of them as mates already, even if it wasn’t official. Jungkook pulls Jiyoo away from Jisung instinctively. As she softly bumps into his chest, her eyes look up to meet Jungkook’s. They both look at each other for a split second before they pushed one another away, awkwardly trying to get rid of the tension between them before anybody could notice.

“Why so awkward you two?”

Jiyoo and Jungkook both shout in unison, “We’re not awkward!” at Jisung. Instead of being laughing even more, he’s shocked that he’d been yelled at so suddenly. He wasn’t the one that asked the question after all.

When Jiyoo and Jungkook realize that Jisung wasn’t the one that spoke, their heads slowly turn around to find a familiar face- or faces, looking back at them.

“H-Hyung, I can explain-”

“Save it Jungkook.” Seokjin shushes the latter before looking around, spotting Hyunbin who was already beginning to cower. “You! Why did you let them watch the movie if it was rated R?”

“Uh, actually. That was me.” Jisung says, raising his hand. He stealthily makes his way around Hyunbin, having the latter stand behind him so he wouldn’t break down. “What’s the big deal? They’re almost 18 anyways.”

“But they’re not 18 yet.” Seokjin presses, not liking how everyone was trying to let Jiyoo and Jungkook get away with doing something that was technically illegal. He watches as Jungkook drops his gaze while Jiyoo’s is stuck somewhere distant, as if she was just zoning out. “If you think that this was a good idea, can’t you at least protect them?”

Jisung gives Seokjin a quizzical look, “I was protecting them?”

“Unlikely.” Namjoon’s voice interrupts.

A wave of Alpha pheromones could be felt in the air. Although it didn’t affect their group directly, many of the movie goers that were nearby had spun their heads around, avoiding them completely. What Namjoon and Seokjin were worried about were the other people going to watch the movie.

Rated R anime movies usually meant that a lot of ‘interesting’ people would show up. Seokjin wanted to sugar coat it, but as much as he tried, he couldn’t help but think about the label that he’d given all of the people that were staring blatantly at Jiyoo.

Dorks. They were all erted dorks.

Jiyoo’s body begins to relax, but she doesn’t make a move from her spot. After the movie started to hit its point, she could feel the pheromones practically choking her in the theatre. Since she couldn’t control the flow of pheromones that were coming out, (as an effect of being embarrassed of what was playing on the screen) Alphas, Betas, and even Omegas were unconsciously looking her way. And since she sat in the front, their stares burned holes into the back of her head.

“Ah..” Jisung takes a moment to look around and realize the damage that had been done. He scratches the back of his head sheepishly. “Sorry about that.”

“She’s just a little girl.” Namjoon sighs, “At least make them look away. You’re a Beta, aren’t you?”

“Nope. Omega.”

To this Namjoon and Seokjin both sigh.

“You’re too careless.” Jimin says with a frown. He walks over to Jiyoo and tries to pull her closer into the center of her group, but as soon as he got close, she’d jerked back as if to avoid his touch.

Being so frantic in the moment, she was unaware that she’d backed right into Jungkook, who was just as shocked as she was. They have another awkward moment and space out from one another, avoiding eye contact as they try to calm their quickly beating hearts.

“I didn’t think it was that bad since they got permission to come out.” Jisung shrugs, “Plus, it’s not like they take the age rating seriously.”

Seokjin continues to argue with Jisung, who wasn’t taking any of his words seriously. Their personalities were the complete opposite of one another. The only thing they really had in common was their motherly attitudes towards the first years, which were Hyunbin, Jungkook, and Jiyoo.

It was getting late, and Seokjin and Jisung realized that it would be better to go home for the day. Seokjin ended up calming down, but he was still upset at Jisung, who’d he’d later gotten the name and age of. Turns out that Jisung was actually a year older than Seokjin, causing him to become embarrassed that he’d acted so out of line with a hyung.

“Don’t worry about it.” Jisung says with a smile. He and Hyunbin begin to head out, but don’t forget to say their goodbyes. “See ‘ya later you two!”

Hyunbin bashfully waves at Jiyoo and Jungkook and they do the same, still not looking at one another as they just wait for Seokjin’s call of what to do next.

They all begin to walk back to the car, their group mostly quiet except for Suga and Hoseok, who didn’t really care about what Jiyoo and Jungkook had done that night. The two of them were more lenient about what happened, only being upset after seeing how many eyes were on Jiyoo when they’d arrived.

Jiyoo and Jungkook sat next to one another in the car, but don’t talk, especially to one another. They just answer when being spoken to, then go back to being statues.

“At least keep your phones on so we know where you guys are.” Taehyung says, visibly sulking in the back of the car.

Jiyoo and Jungkook simultaneously take out their phones and turn them back on, grossing out the others by how in sync they were with one another. When Jungkook sees all of his missed calls from the guys, he feels even worse about not telling them and practically going missing for an hour. Jiyoo too, felt bad. The only missed call she had was from Hoseok, who had taken the liberty of sitting next to her.

“I can’t believe you didn’t answer oppa’s call.” Hoseok sighs, feigning his sadness as Jiyoo’s figure seems to shrink.

“Sorry Hoseok.” Jiyoo mumbles, not missing the way that Hoseok quickly turned in her direction.

“I might not have bought you tickets, but you guys did mess up pretty bad anyways.” Hoseok says, causing the two to feel even worse. “So as punishment, both of you have to address me with honorifics.”

Jiyoo doesn’t think much of it and replies with a small, “Yes oppa”. Jungkook on the other hand still feels guilty, but not as much as Jiyoo did. He looks at Hoseok and opens his mouth.

“Yes, wang-nim.” (Yes, my king.)

Hoseok lets out a loud groan. He holds back the urge to slap Jungkook upside his head, mostly because those two were in enough trouble for the night.

“We’re going to have a long talk when we get home.” Seokjin grumbles, suppressing a yawn that barely managed to escape his lips. His eyes were dark from the lack of sleep and irritation that still pooled in his system from Jisung’s recklessness.

Damn kids were making him stressed out.

Chapter 38: okay wow...so much is happening my brain can hardly register everything but that would be my fault
When I started reading I did not want to stop until I read everything, I absolutely love this. This is heartwarming, its beautiful...
I love Suga no matter what, Love HIM....
Although I do have to say that the laws with their titles is very one sided, it seems to work only for Alphas, everything just makes sense very ugh...I mean i get it and I love how the guys love Jiyoo as the person instead of the title but its still very unpleasant...Like Jungha for example, she literally just admitted flat out that she only wants to be their mate, Jungkook's mate, just to be superior to everyone else, which is perfect for her that is her personality perfectly...still kind of confused whether its a whole group mating or not, i could be getting it confused soo many amazing stories...

Chapter 37: Jungkook might have been attracted to Jungah's pheromones since, as he said, they felt motherly. So he misses his mother's presence. Thank goodness almost all of them are slapped in realization. And I don't hate Jungah... I despise her.
