jihyo stares at the poster on the notification board. the talent show- will be held a month from now.

for the past years- she had always been the star of the talent show. she shines with her gorgeous vocals and gorgeous looks. everyone looks up to her- and she shined the most at that moment.

but sadly, she don’t think that she will join it this time. it’s her senior year even- but still.

he’s not there with her.

she smiles when his image came flashing in her mind. though he was far apart, never at least one second in her life- where she forgets about him. his smile, his eyes, his face, how good his lips felt against hers, how warm his skin is against hers, and how sweet his voice sounds when he talks to her.

she remembered everything about him clearly.

she decided to give him a call. their time difference were merely hours apart- since he is in australia now. yeah- he moved to australia around two months ago as for now. he moved during their final year even- she remembered how she cried so hard when she watched his figure disappears into the departure area.

“hey pretty”

her heart burst into excitement when she heard his voice again. it has been at least three days since they last contacted each other. “hey handsome. doing good there?”

“not quite. you’re not here with me.” she laughs. “what a cheeseball.”

“i know you like it, pretty.” it’s true though. she loves it when he gets cheesy out of sudden. it surprised her most of the time- and it never fails to get her all flustered.

“the talent show is coming.”

he fell into silence. “i’m sorry.”

“no, you don’t have to be.” she smiles. “i won’t be joining it anyway.”

she could hear his gasp over the phone. “but why?”

“cause you’re not here with me.” his heart breaks at her answer. “join it please? for me.”

“but you’re not here to support me. and you know how we promised to sing a duet with me during our final year. if you’re not here then i am not doing it.”

he felt bad for not being able to keep his promise. “i’d fly from here to you.”

“stop saying nonsense. we are 9 hours apart by plane.”

“then please-” he pleads. “you can do it with jaehyun.”

“but jaehyun is doing it with rose. plus- jaehyun is not you.”

“park jihyo.” he calls her out. “join it for me. although i couldn’t hear you- but i could feel you. i know you love being on the stage. so please- do it for me.”

she sighed against the phone. he is right. this is the final chance for her to do things that she like- singing. especially here- at the place where they first met- and they first loved. she should dedicate her performance to them.

for them.

“okay- i will.”

“i’m sorry that i’m not doyoung.”

jihyo laughs when jaehyun mentioned that. “no- it’s okay.” she smiles. “by the way- isn’t rose mad?”

“oh no. she’s pretty cool about it.”

“thank god.” she sighed in relief. “about the song we’re singing- i actually picked a song already, but i don’t know if you’re okay with it.”

“is it all for you?”

jihyo gasped. “how did you know?”

jaehyun grins. “doyoung had mentioned that this is the first song you both had sang together- during his first ride with you.”

“don’t worry, we’ll get there in one piece.”

jihyo is still clutching her seatbelt- not convinced by his words. doyoung just had his license- and they finally wouldn’t need to go on their date by bus. but still- it is his first official ride, and she swore she is so damn nervous.

“trust me, pretty.”

he took her hand in his- as he gently kissed her knuckles. when he was about to step on the pedal- she pulled her hand back. “drive with both of your hand. i swear this is so scary-”

he chuckles at her cuteness. “okay okay.” he finally started moving- and the journey went smooth. as they passed around the first 3 kilometers, she finally released the grip on the seatbelt. “i didn’t know you could drive so well.”

“i got my license, didn’t i?”

she smiles- as her hands made their way towards the radio before turning it on. “oh- it’s my favorite song!”

it was all for you by seo in guk and eunji. the ost of reply 1997. she casually sings along- and doyoung swore he just heard an angel singing.

and with that- he casually sings along with her. their first unofficial duet together. it’s nothing special, just two of them- singing together in a car. it felt perfect- actually. it felt- just right.

and they will keep this memory in their heart- for a long, long time.

jihyo was sweating so badly. it was all so sudden when jaehyun had to back off from their performance- and she ended up needing to sing the song alone by herself.

as the lights went off- the spotlight was on her. she took a deep breath- and once again, his image came flashing in her mind. i am going to sing this for you. she hoped that he would listen to her.

as the music starts, she, too, starts the song with such a gorgeous smile on her face.

he was standing at the other side of the hall- looking as handsome as ever, with a bright smile glowing on his face. she could clearly see his features despite their large distance.

he playfully winked towards her- before singing his part.

he stepped closer towards her as he was singing. and when the chorus was nearing- he was finally beside her- right in front of her eyes.

he was right in front of her eyes- and it has been so long.

they both ended the song with the brightest smile- plastered on their face. the crowds roared, and she finally realized that a droplet of tears (of happiness) rolled down her cheeks.

he pulled her towards the backstage- before giving her a very, tight hug. she burst into tears against his chest- inhaling the scent that she missed damn much. it felt- so right.

“it has been a while, pretty.” he whispered.

she’s finally back home.
