Sehun watched from his spot on the bed as Luhan got ready for bed. Both of them had had a long day. Sehun had gone to work as usual, but because of last minute changes to a design his boss wanted he ended up having to stay a couple of hours later than he had originally wanted to. Luhan had to run a multitude of errands and take Mina for her check up. It was almost incredible to both of them how they had ended up arriving home minutes from each other. They were both glad that they were finally able to relax. What was more surprising was that Mina had shared the same sentiment because the baby girl was out like a light when they placed her in the crib. Mina who was usually a very energetic baby, was pooped from going out all day and the trip to the doctors was of course no fun. The poor thing had to endure getting her shots. She at least didn’t have to cry alone because her daddy Luhan had cried right along with her not liking one bit whenever she cried at the doctor's office. Sehun was usually good at not showing emotion. Something Luhan envied immensely.

 

“Babe, come to bed already.” Sehun called out to Luhan who had just walked into their bathroom. As of late Sehun had started missing Luhan. It had been awhile since they were intimate with each other. And even if he was a little tired he figured he could at least make an attempt.

 

Luhan walked back into the room and smiled over at his husband, “Jeez I’m coming why do you sound so needy?”

 

Sehun sat up and returned his husband smile, “Maybe because I am.”

 

Luhan got into bed and gave Sehun a curious look, “Are you?”

 

Sehun pulled Luhan closer to him and kissed his cheek, “Mhmm very.”

 

Luhan couldn’t help but giggle when Sehun started peppering his face with kisses, “And what do you want me to do about it ?” He asked breathless when Sehun stopped.

 

“Ohhh I don’t know you could….” Sehun trailed off rolling on top of Luhan and holding himself up over him with his arms

 

“I could….?” Luhan prompted biting his lip in anticipation.

 

Sehun smirked down at him before taking his lips into a slow kiss. Both of them hadn’t realized how much they missed this. Maybe it had been too long of awhile. Soon Sehun had Luhan shirtless and breathless, but it all came to an end when Mina’s violent cries came through the baby monitor. Luhan and Sehun instantly froze before quickly scrambling out of bed to see what was wrong. It was rare nowadays for Mina to wake up in the middle of the night and for her to be crying like that something had to be really wrong.

As soon as Luhan and Sehun got into the room Luhan ran to Minas crib and pulled her out.

Sehun hovered around waiting for Mina’s cries to lessen but they didn’t.

 

“Sehun get me her thermometer it's in the bathroom. She feels too warm.” Luhan called out cradling the baby and rocking her back and forth in an attempt to calm her down.

 

Sehun rushed out of the room and headed straight for the bathroom. He found the thermometer and ran back to the room. Luhan had managed to get the baby girl to quiet down somewhat and took the thermometer from Sehun. They took her temperature and decided it was best to take her to the hospital.

 

They were in the waiting room to the ER. Sehun was slightly annoyed because he couldn’t believe they were making them wait. Luhan was rubbing his back in an effort to keep him calm. Mina had luckily fallen asleep in the car and hadn’t woken up.

 

“I just don’t get why we have to wait. I mean she could be dying.” Sehun grumbled making Luhan laugh.

 

“Don’t be dramatic Sehun. For right now she’s okay.”

 

“You heard the way she was crying though. She’s never cried like that before.”

 

“No. But we’re here to find out why. I’m sure it had something to do with her high temperature.”

 

“How are you so calm?”

 

Luhan smiled warmly at him, “One of us has to be.”

 

Sehun was going to reply when a nurse came out and called out Mina’s name. Both parents shot out of their seats and rushed behind the nurse. The nurse led them to a room and asked them a couple of questions.

 

“How old is the baby?”

 

“She’s nine months and a half.” Luhan quickly answered.

 

“You said you took her temperature at home. What was it?”

 

“It was 100°F.”

 

“Okay the doctor will be with you soon, I just need one of you to come with me to get the baby's weight and height.” The nurse said with an easy smile. Both men nodded in understanding, but it was Sehun who stood up and picked Mina up out of her car seat to follow the nurse. Luhan smiled up at him and rested further in his chair. It always warmed his heart to see how much Sehun cared about Mina. If anything it made him fall more in love. Sehun was an amazing dad  and there was little the man wouldn't do for his child.

 

Luhan rested his head against the wall behind him. He felt incredibly tired but he knew he wouldn't be able to rest without knowing what was wrong with Mina. As if conjured up with his thoughts Sehun stepped into the room with Mina in his arms.

 

Mina had her head resting on Sehun's shoulder. Sehun gave him a weak smile and then the nurse stepped in after.

 

“Okay so I took her temperature again and it has gone down some. Her weight and height are exactly where she needs to be. The doctor will be here soon so if you need anything let me know”. She said before turning in her heel and closing the door as she left.

 

Sehun let out a sigh and sat next to Luhan. From where Luhan was sitting he could see that Mina was awake. The poor baby must be tired. She wasn't used to sleeping late.

 

“I thought she was asleep when you guys walked in.” Luhan said bringing a hand to caress Minas cheek.

 

“No she's just being extra quiet. I was surprised she didn't cry when the nurse took her temperature. She whined when she got weighed but that was it.”

 

“Aww my poor baby.” Luhan said pouting.

 

Just then the door swung open and revealed a handsome young man. He was about Luhan's height and wore glasses.  Both Sehun and Luhan sat up straight and waited for the other to introduce himself.

 

“Hello, I am Dr. Kim and I am the attending doctor for tonight.”

 

“Hello.” Sehun and Luhan greeted. Both were a little shocked to see how young the doctor was.

 

“So what can you tell me about Mina?” Doctor Kim asked as he took a seat in front of the computer in the corner of the room.

 

Luhan nodded and told the doctor what had happened. The doctor interrupting him only once to ask what they had done all day and if Mina had seemed different during the day or if it was only until they had left her to sleep that she was different. When Luhan told the doctor that Mina had been at the hospital earlier for her routine checkup and shots the doctor had brightened.

 

“I think I know what has Mina feeling down. You see what she's displaying right now is an immune response.”

 

Luhan and Sehun both raised an eyebrow at the doctor. They couldn't really understand what he was saying. Because to them it sounded like the doctor thought Mina getting a fever was a good thing.

 

The doctor chuckled at their twined expressions before continuing, “You see this is normal in babies and it's actually a good thing. We give vaccines because we want them to develop strong immune systems so that if they are around someone that is sick or they touch something that has been infected they won't get sick or as sick. Mina getting a fever means her immune system is working and it's trying to protect her.”

 

“So she's okay?” Sehun asked

 

“Yes Mina is just fine. She'll be a little down tomorrow and maybe the day after that but she’ll go back to being her normal self soon.”

 

“But what if this is a fever she can't sweat out?” Sehun asked making Luhan want to roll his eyes.

 

The doctor laughed, “You don't have to worry Mr.Oh. Mina is a healthy baby she’ll be back to her normal self soon enough. I'll prescribe her some children's motrin if she gets another fever give her some. Give her lots of liquids and some fruits and vegetables. If this persist you can bring her back here and we’ll run some tests but I dont think that will be necessary.”

 

“Thank you so much Dr. Kim.” Luhan said getting up to shake the doctor's hand. The doctor stood up as well and shook Luhan's hand.

 

“No problem. You guys are free to go as soon as the nurse brings you the prescription. If you have any questions make sure to call either me or her primary physician.

 

Luhan smiled and nodded and the doctor left the room.

 

“Well this is good news.” Luhan said smiling at Sehun. Sehun nodded and patted Minas back softly.

 

Luhan eyed him for awhile and laughed, “You don't trust the doctor?”

 

“I do.” Sehun immediately answered.

 

Luhan kept staring at Sehun not buying the other's response until Sehun sighed in defeat, “Okay maybe I don't, but you saw how young he looked. What if this is something really bad and Mina doesn't get better?”

 

“Well we could sue.” Luhan said jokingly making Sehun scowl.

 

“I'm serious Lu!” Sehun whispered yelled obviously to not alert Mina who seemed to be falling asleep on her dad's shoulder.

 

“Sehun, Mina is going to be okay. I actually remember reading somewhere that this could happen. So I'm going to trust the doctor. We’ll give her some medicine when we get home and keep an eye on her. If she still isn't well we’ll bring her back.” Luhan replied with a warm smile hoping to calm his husband.

 

Sehun pouted but said nothing. Luhan couldn't help but bend down and kiss Sehun's cheek. He was never this stubborn and it was funny to Luhan and a little endearing  in a lot of ways.

 

The nurse walked in then and gave them instructions as well as the baby's prescription. She also set them up with another appointment with Minas regular doctor before heading out.

 

Sehun and Luhan had decided that Mina would be sleeping with them that night since they wanted to make sure to watch over her in case anything got worse. Also because it helped them both feel better if she was safely nestled between both of them.

 

They were all comfy in bed when Luhan looked over at Mina’s sleeping form and couldn’t help the wave of nostalgia that hit him. The last time they had slept with Mina it had been when she was barely two months old. Now she was close to being ten months old and the size difference was amazing to him. It took around eight months for Mina to get so big and Luhan was amazed. Because soon his baby girl would be one year old and then two and then five. It was a scary but an exciting thought. He knew she wouldn't be a baby forever and it was sad because he would eventually miss this but thinking of playing with her in the park when she's five or getting her ready to go to school. There was still so much to look forward to.

 

“Lu what are you thinking about?” Sehun whispered pulling Luhan out of his thoughts.

 

Luhan turned his head to look at his husband, “Nothing.”

 

Sehun gave him a look but didn't question him further. They just laid there and stared at each other for awhile before Luhan felt his eyes heavy and drifted off to sleep.

 

The next morning Luhan woke up to light tapping on his face. He groaned still trying to sleep but the giggle that followed had him opening his eyes.  Mina had managed to sit up and had both of her hands on either side of Luhan's face. Luhan blinked away sleep and smiled at his baby girl.

 

“Well good morning to you Mina.” He whispered before he sat himself up right and took Mina in his arms. He was extremely happy to see Mina back to herself. She smiled up at him and patted his face again. Luhan found himself laughing at how cute she was when he suddenly remembered something. He looked to the other side of the bed and saw that it was empty. Instead of seeing his sleeping husband there were only pillows on the other side of the bed.

 

“Where did your dad go?” Luhan asked Mina. Mina blinked up at him before crawling away from his lap.

 

I guess she doesn't know either Luhan thought as he stretched and got out of bed. He picked Mina up in his arms and headed to the bathroom to brush his teeth. He was a pro at doing things one handed while holding onto Mina. If he was being really honest they both were. HIm and Sehun had each developed great multitasking skills thanks to Mina. When he was done he went to Minas room and changed her diaper. He was pretty sure Sehun wasn't at work so he hoped he would find him downstairs.

 

As he reached the last step he came face to face with Sehun.

 

“Oh I was just coming to get you guys.” Sehun said with a smile

 

Luhan looked curiously at him, “How were you able to get up earlier than me?”

 

Sehun simply shrugged as they walked to the kitchen. Luhan's eyes widened a bit when he saw that breakfast was done and set up nicely on the kitchen table. There were eggs bacon, toast, hash browns and some cut up fruit. Even Mina’s highchair had food on it.

 

Luhan watched as his husband walked over to the other side of the table to pull the seat out and held an arm out for Luhan to take the seat.

 

“Did you get up early to do all this?” Luhan asked staring wide eyed at Sehun.

 

“Maybe.” Sehun chuckled.

 

Luhan walked towards him and smiled.

 

“What's the occasion?” He asked as he took a seat Mina was still in his arms. Sehun took her then and kissed her cheeks making the baby girl giggle.

 

“I just wanted to have a nice breakfast with my two favorite people.” Sehun said as he brought Mina to her high chair.

 

Luhan looked at him skeptically. It's not that Luhan didn't believe his husband. Sehun had made breakfast for all them before but it had never been this grand. He only ever did stuff like this on his birthday. Oh Luhan thought. He had totally forgotten.

Sehun was giving him a smug smile that made him want to throw a piece of toast at him.

 

“Happy Birthday, babe.” Sehun said with that same smug smile. Luhan knew Sehun knew he had forgotten his own birthday. He could already hear Sehun calling him an old man because of this.

 

“Awwe look Mina your old man seems to have forgotten his own birthday.” Sehun teased just like Luhan knew he would.

 

“Hey be nice! It's my birthday you're not allowed to be mean to the birthday boy.” Luhan grumbled as he took a piece of toast from the plate in front of him.

 

Sehun couldn't help but laugh at Luhan's expression, “Babe you make it far too easy.”

 

“Do I? How's sleeping on the couch sound bet your back will love that.”

 

Sehun quickly stopped laughing and looked at Luhan. Luhan bit into his toast and gave Sehun a “try me look”.  

The atmosphere turned tense for a minute and then Mina’s shriek had them both look over at her. Mina had decided that instead of eating her oatmeal she was gonna wear it. Both Luhan and Sehun burst into laughter. Mina was an absolute mess, but she looked so proud of herself. Like she had just created a masterpiece. Luhan was gonna get up to clean her but Sehun stopped him.

 

“Oh no mister, it's your birthday. You enjoy the rest of your breakfast. I'll take care of the trouble maker.” Sehun said quickly getting up and getting Mina out of her high chair.

 

The rest of the day was spent at the aquarium. Luhan's idea. And since it was his birthday Sehun only nodded and they piled into the car. They had a lot of fun showing Mina all the fishes and just spending the day together. They were extremely happy to see that Mina was back to her bubbly self. Sehun had worried that she would get another fever but she was fine. They had only given her medicine the night before and found it unnecessary to give her any before they left because she was doing just fine.

 

“Thanks for today.” Luhan whispered when they got back home. Mina had fallen asleep in the car so they were putting her to sleep.

 

Sehun looked at him before leaning in to give him a quick peck, “You don't have to thank me. I had a lot of fun and so did Mina. Plus it is your birthday.”

 

Luhan smiled up at him and they both left Minas room hand in hand.

 

“Still. I think this is one of the best birthdays I've ever had.”

 

“I'm glad you enjoyed it.”

 

“Yeah except there's just something missing.”

 

Sehun looked at him confused, “I thought you wanted to cut the cake later when your parents get here?”

 

“That’s not what I was talking about.” Luhan said wrapping his arms around Sehun's waist.

 

Sehun raised an eyebrow at him. Luhan only laughed before getting on his tippy toes and kissing Sehun. He hoped Sehun would get the idea and he did because Sehun had managed to lead them to their bedroom.

 

“Wait. Your parents are coming.” Sehun said when Luhan's hands traveled inside his shirt.

 

“I know but they won't be here for another two hours.” Luhan replied slightly annoyed Sehun had stopped kissing him.

 

“Yeah but what if Mina wakes up?” Sehun asked voice full of concern

 

“Then we better make the most of our time shouldn't we?” Luhan replied  giving Sehun a wink.
