Chapter Five

Bride of the God of War

“Who are you?” Yein asked the beautiful stranger who looked like a goddess one that was filled with charms and luck that.

“Don’t you remember me?” the woman came closer to her and reached her hand up to cup her cheeks but before she could touch it she was stopped.

“Yein?”

Yein snapped out of the trance the woman put her through, for some reason the woman’s eyes spoke to her, they were a light violet the and hurt behind her eyes made her wonder, why did she look like she was going to cry when she barely knew her. But when her fiancé called her she tilted her head to him and he ran over to her, taking her into his arms.

“Mijoo what did you do to her?” he asked protectively as he held the woman in his arms tightly.

“Who is she?”

“She’s my bride-“

“That can’t be. The only bride you will ever have is-“

“She’s not her!” Jungkook raised his voice which frightens Yein as she never heard Jungkook yell before but when he did the floor rumbled like thunder had hit the ground below. Almost instinctively Jungkook tighten his hold onto Yein, which she gently tapped his arm.

“Lord of War, I am okay…” She moved his arm and placed her fox mask on the floor as she stood up and walked up to the young woman who looked as if she was on the verge of crying.

“Hello, goddess of charms and miracles.” She held her hand and with gentle hands she lifted the goddess head up to face her as she flashed her a warm smile. “Your name must be Mijoo, right?”

“My goodness, are you really a human child?” the woman gasped and smiled as she hugged her.

“I see why Jungkook and Sujeong are fond of you, you are indeed very lovable.” She whispered into her ear and let go of the hug to hold her hand, “Come, we are all waiting for you. The ride to this palace must have been tiring because you were knocked out cold when you arrived; Jungkook had to carry you into one of our rooms.”

The God of War scoffed and rolled his eyes as he followed the two women who were walking towards a garden where all their other friends were sitting having tea under a huge jacaranda tree that was in full bloom. There was an unfamiliar face among the three people which she already assumed was the goddess’s beside opposite half.

“My name is Hoseok, I am the god of misfortune and mischief.” He gave her a childish smile that reminded her of someone, as he stood up to greet her.

“Hello, my name is Yein. I am the bride of the god of War and Destruction.”

“Indeed you are, I am so pleased that you took the time to come to our humble palace to celebrate our 300th century year anniversary”

“That is a very long time… indeed you are both madly in love with each other.” She commented, “I only hope that I have a blissful marriage such as you.”

“Don’t worry my love, we definitely will.” Jungkook wrapped his arms around her and breathed in her scent that comforted him. His parents were a taken back by his actions and chuckled as they had never seen their son like this before.

“Also why do you call me Lord of War?” Jungkook questioned, “I am to be your husband soon and you won’t even call me by my real name.”

Yein eyes widen and she wondered why he had become so affectionate towards her recently. She blushed and nodded before calling his name gently. The god had completely froze on his spot until a smile broke on his lips and he tighten his embrace.

“My oh my, our Jungkookie has taken a liking to you, hasn’t he?” Hoseok ruffled his son’s head affectionately and the younger was displeased at the way his father was acting in front of his bride.

“Forgive my husband and my son’s actions, as you can see they are both very touchy people when it comes to expressing their love.” Mijoo apologised which left Yein shock as she never would have thought that both of these beautiful people in front of her were Jungkook’s parents.

“They seem like the same age of us but in reality they are a good thousand years older than us.” Taehyung commented as he walked towards them with Sujeong walking quickly to Yein.

“Are you okay my dear??” She held her face gently and examined it checking for scratches or bruises that may have occurred.

“Yes, I was just a bit tired from the ride.” She reassured the elder one, that looked as if she was waiting for her since forever.

“I don’t mean to be rude, but are you the mother of Jungkook?” Yein turned her attention to Mijoo once again who gave her a warm smile and nodded.

“I am so terribly sorry for being rude earlier and everything-“ She immediately bowed.

“oh no no! You are lovely my dear! It’s just this brat that never calls his parents mother and father.”Mijoo teleported to where both young men were mucking around by trying to ruffle each other’s hair in which she hit them in the head.

“Get yourselves together, we are in front of a young lady.”

“But it’s not like Taehyung calls his parent’s mother or father.” Jungkook whimpered from the hit, “He also calls them by their name.”

“Yah! That’s because his parents are too easy on him.” Hoseok scolded at his son who pulled his tongue, which eventually turned into a Tom and Jerry chase between the father and son, which made the lobbing woman next to Yein chuckle warmly.

They had eventually moved to another location in the kingdom of Earth in which Yein had never seen such a beautiful garden in her human life. She had forgotten that she was bare foot until she felt the soft grass below her and when she looked up there were multiple trees of cherry blossoms that amazed her. All the magnificent trees were in full bloom and when the wind blew many small flowers were whisked in the air and she smiled in joy as she wished she could capture that moment because as she turned around her heart dropped. Jungkook was behind her walking slower than her admiring the full blossoms but that wasn’t what made her heart race, but the smile that was painted on his lips as he looked directly into her eyes. She quickly turned away with cheeks that resembled a similar colour to the pink flowers flying around, as she looked down her feet she saw a pair of white slippers appear before her. When she looked up the shade of pink became darker which made Jungkook smile more as their faces were only inches apart.

“Enjoying the view?”

“Y-yes…” She whispered softly and he stood up tall and straight as he walked next to her. In which she composed herself more.

“I remember playing her a lot in my childhood… “He gave a nostalgic smile as they walked slowly now in sync. “I made a lot of memories with the other gods.”

“Are there more gods other than Sujeong, Taehyung, Mijoo and Hoseok??” she asked out of curiosity.

“Yeah, but we all separated after that incident…” he muttered and she frowned at how his expression turned from sweet and reminiscing to sour and dark.

“What incide-“

“Jungkook! Yein! We’re going to play a game come on!” Mijoo yelled out to them and waved at her in which Yein turned her attention to, wondering how someone that was young and youthful was Jungkook’s parents. However when she turned her attention back to him; he was smiling and the dark aura that was around him vanished as if it didn’t exist.

“Come on, my parents throw great parties and games.” He winked at her and took her hand as they walked back to the elder couple.

“So the game is pretty simple, you just have to through the garden of Eden and come out the other end safely.”Hoseok explained the game in which all of them nodded.

“But what is so hard about walking through a maze??” Suejong asked as she was generally confused how it was going to be a challenge.

“Stupid, this is Jungkook parents, of course there is going to be some trick to it, they wouldn’t make it that simple.” Taehyung softly knocked her head in which she whimpered in response.

“Hey at least my parents aren’t super in bed like someone’s.” Jungkook replied nonchalantly with his arms behind his head, while Taehyung glared at him.

“Why is it so challenging ??” Yein asked as she was indeed the only human between all the gods.

“The Garden of Eden is enchanted with a ghost who lures around at night time and if you can pass her then you can withstand any god in this realm.” Mijoo said in her scariest voice in which Yein chuckled at her attempt to scare her while two people had their face down with a dark aura.

“We are going in pairs… right Mijoo??” Jungkook asked his mother in which she pouted and snapped at him.

“How many times did I tell you to call me mother! And no, everyone is going alone.”

“What! You can’t let Yein go alone in there, what if a Minotaur attacked her or a-“

“Relax Jungkook, we cleared the garden to make sure there was no mythical creatures in there plus its been many years since-“ Hoseok started but was interrupted.

“Like I said father, I don’t trust her to go in their alone what if something bad happens to her.” Jungkook almost yelled at his parents which made Taehyung quirk an smirk, This is interesting…

“I agree with Jungkook, it will probably be too dangerous after all Yein won’t be able to defend herself if something happens.”Sujeong agreed with Jungkook.

“I also second that, after all Sujeong is my wife and I know that without her amulet my familiar won’t be able to protect her.” Taehyung threw out his opinion in which Mijoo looked at Sujeong with concern as she held her hand.

“Sujeong, why aren’t you wearing your amulet?”

“I accidentally left it back at our palace…” she whispered with guilt.

“You should always wear it as it symbolises Taehyung and yours bond through marriage. Your parent’s in law would be upset if they knew you didn’t wore the amulet.” Mijoo explained in which Yein took an interest, as she unconsciously played with the earring that had the amulet.

“I know…” Suejong replied. Taehyung didn’t say anything but ruffled her hair and gave her sincere smile that Yein had never seen before as he always gave fake one that never reached his eyes or a smirk that was similar to Jungkook’s.

“Come on, let play the game!” Hoseok jumped in glee. “How about everyone goes before Yein so when it’s Yein’s turn, then we are all here and if something happens we can go immediately.”

All nodded and the game began with Jungkook walking into the maze first however he was met with an interesting encounter with the so called ghost whom he knew was going to be his mother as the ring and his father as Frankenstein. He ended up kicking both of them in the behind in which the complained as did Sujeong and also Taehyung. However when Yein walked through the maze something happened that no one had expected and as Jungkook predicted, something bad was going to happen.
