“Stop hogging everything Joohyun!”

“I’m cold!”

“Well, there’s an existing word called ‘share’ if that’s your problem.”

“Unfortunately, it’s not in my dictionary. So shut it.” Joohyun grunted.

 

Seulgi glared at her wife. Five o’clock in the morning is too early for her during a Sunday morning.

She groaned.

Seulgi walked inside the bathroom and took a shower.

 

 

“WHAT THE HELL KANG.”

“What? I was just hugging you.” Said Seulgi.

“You feel so cold. Who wakes up at five and showers right after?” Joohyun whined followed by an annoyed ‘ing cold’ complain.

“Uh, students who live far away from school?”

“That was a rhetorical question dumb bear.”

“Sure.”

“You look pissed.” Sejong, Joohyun’s friend from her University.

“I am.”

“But it’s your birthday tomorrow.” Mina, a japanese exchange student and one of Joohyun’s friends, said.

“Not today. So I’m allowed to get pissed.” Joohyun glared.

“Okay.” Mina put both of her hands up. “I surrender.”

“Where are you?”

“I’m at Yeri’s.”

“Do I need to remind you that you’re my assistant and not my wife’s sister’s baby sitter?”

“Fine. What?”

“Buy me a yarn. A red yarn. No more questioning I need it now.”

 

The phone call ended.

 

“Who was that?”

“A person who’s desperate to get a red yarn.”

 

Joy kissed Yeri’s forehead.

 

“I have to go.”

“Alright.”

 

Yeri got out of the blankets and pulled Joy out with her.

 

“Are you gonna be here tomorrow?”

“I don’t know. You heard Seulgi unnie.”

Yeri frowned. “I understand. But you have to visit me every once in a while.”

“I’ll visit you every night.”

Yeri laughed. “Sure. You better get ready if Seulgi unnie knew about this.”

“About what?”

“You’re dating a minor.”

“I’m not! You’re eighteen already!”

“In Joohyun and Seulgi’s bible, eighteen is underage and twenty is the legal age.”

“They have a bible?”

“Who the calls in the middle of the night?” Joohyun hissed.

 

She angrily took her phone placed on the night stand.

 

“What?!”

“I feel you. But you gotta wake up now.”

 

Joohyun furrowed her eyebrows together and looked at their digital alarm clock.

 

“It’s three in the morning.”

“I’m not Seulgi. I know. You just gotta wake up. Put me on loud speaker.”

 

Joohyun pushed the loud speaker button.

 

“Now what?”

“Got wash your face. Don’t need to change your clothes. I bet you already look decent.”

“I’m always decent.”

“That’s not what I heard from Seulgi though.”

“Gross.” She hissed.

 

Joohyun stepped inside the bathroom to do her thing. Upon brushing her teeth, she noticed a red string tied around her ring finger and her wedding ring is gone.

Wedding ring.

Gone.

“! My wedding ring—”

“I have your wedding ring.” Joohyun heard Wendy say.

 

Joohyun stopped.

 

“Why do you have my wedding ring?” Joohyun asked—totally creeped out.

“I can’t say anything just follow me.”

 

And that’s what Joohyun did.

The red string tied around her finger was long enough to lead her somewhere.

Joohyun took her phone with and followed the string.

 

“What am I doing in an ungodly hour like this?” Joohyun muttered to herself.

 

She went out of their flat and saw a few familiar males standing in line until the end of the hallway where the emergency exit is.

Joohyun remembers every one of them.

Her exes—from her first boyfriend until the recent one—were standing and grinning before her.

 

“Okay. I’m out. What in the name of freaking hell is this Seungwan?”

“Just pass by them.”

 

Slowly, Joohyun walked on the side where a space is provided for her to walk to. But as she passes by them, a year was written on the side of their neck, like a bar code.

The year when that certain guy and her got together.

 

“Joohyun are you crying?”

“N-No.” her voice cracked.

 

She stopped at the last guy.

 

“She’s behind all of this right?” Joohyun asked, half smiling.

 

The guy nodded.

Joohyun entered the emergency exit and went for the roof top.

“Oh my God.”

“Thanks. I appreciate your overwhelmed feelings.”

Joohyun slapped her arm. “Narcissistic jerk.”

“Hey, I prepared all of this for didn’t I? Maybe I am a narcissistic jerk because I’m selfish when it comes to Kang’s exclusive property.” Seulgi grinned.

 

Joohyun can only smile.

 

“I guess that red string of yours led you to your one and only soul mate huh?”

 

Joohyun jumped on her wife who let out a quite ‘oof’ and wrapped her arms around her bunny’s waist to support her.

 

“Now you’re clinging on me like a Koala.”

 

Seulgi inhaled her wife’s scent.

 

“Sorry this is the only thing I could make up for the nine years of my absence as your best friend and girlfriend, Joohyun.”

 

Joohyun thought it was more than enough. There was no table. Seulgi was still wearing her sweat pants and white shirt. There’s only a made up blanket fort full of blankets and pillows on the concrete floor. A small flat table with two mugs of coffee, a chocolate cake and Seulgi’s fully-charged Macbook Pro.

What more could Joohyun asked for?

 

“I was told that there’s a shooting star at four in the morning so…”

Joohyun kissed her wife. “I’d love to.”

 

 

 

“I think you should get down now.”

“No.”

“How are we gonna watch and eat?”

“I don’t know.”

“Are you sure you’re Joohyun?”

“No. But I’m sure I’m Kang Joohyun.”

Seulgi grinned. “That’s my girl.”
