Shinhye didn’t dare to open any of her social media accounts. She was curious, yes. However, the fear weighed heavier.

She knew that there was a video out there, one that would impact Yonghwa’s and her career either way.

Yonghwa and she had contemplated for hours how to break the news of their marriage. They wondered if they should hold a press conference or if they should use their SNS. In the end they decided that they owed it to their fans to inform them first. They did not want to have their story told by the media as a middle man.

After making the decision, Yonghwa and her sat down to record the following video.

„Hello, this is Jung Yonghwa and next to me is beautiful Park Shinhye.” Yonghwa said and Shinhye already blushed, gently nudging his side. He on the other hand couldn’t hide a slight smile at her cute shyness.

“Firstly we want thank you, our dear fans, for supporting us from the day we debuted up until now. We will forever be grateful for your support and we hope that you guys will continue to do so in the future.” He said.

“Deh, kamsahamnida.“ Shinhye affirmed and the both of them bowed to the audience.

“You, our dear fans, have known about Shinhye’s and my close relationship for a long time. Throughout our careers we have been the biggest supporters and resource of strength to one another. We were barely adults when we first met and became best friends. We are still closer than ever now that we’ve reached our thirties and I think that this is an amazing achievement in the fast paced, harsh and often times superficial entertainment industry.” Yonghwa eventually continued.

Shinhye agreed, slightly nervous but determined. She started to speak. “Up until now we have shared anything and everything that happened in our lives and thereby grew together as humans. Yonghwa and I can talk for hours. We can be serious and playful with one another. Right from the start we just clicked and I knew I could always rely on him since then as he is a very sincere person. It has been so reassuring to have him in my life and I am very thankful for it.”

“I am just as thankful.” Yonghwa replied to her with a warm look before he continued: “After primarily focusing on my career for more than ten years and now that I’ve successfully finished serving our country and even made another comeback as a singer I feel like it’s time to let you know that I am planning on starting a new chapter in my life.”

“You have known Shinhye and me as best friends for a long time. Therefore the news we have might surprise or not surprise you. We hope for your blessing either way…” Yonghwa led the audience to the bold announcement that was to come.

“I hereby want to announce that Park Shinhye, the woman I love and admire the most in the whole world, and I have quietly gotten married in the presence of our family and closest friends a while ago. We are officially husband and wife.” He finally said after a short silence.

“Shinhye and I might have started out our journey as friends. However, our feelings and respect for each other only grew deeper over the years until we finally realized that they had turned into sincere love.” He continued to explain while gently tightening the grip on Shinhye’s shaking hand. If the video wasn’t still running he would have immediately hugged her to make her feel better as he knew how it always calmed her down.

“We are sorry to only relay the news to you now. We kept our changed relationship a secret in the past because we did not want the media or haters to interfere with our private life. However, we feel that it is time for us to finally give a greater attention to our newly wedded life and we did not want to play hide and seek with you, our sincere fans, any longer. We hope for your understanding and we humbly ask you to look upon us kindly.” Yonghwa continued to wrap things up.”

“Lastly, Shinhye-yah and I want to thank all of you for your support up until now again. We are very grateful for it.” He said and Shinhye nodded vividly.

“Kamsahamnida!” She said again with a bow.

“Lastly, I’ll promise to cherish and protect the woman next to me forever.” Yonghwa said, causing Shinhye’s stomach to flutter endlessly and her face to turn crimson red.

A soft ‘yah!’ escaped as she barely managed to not hit his arm from embarrassment.

Yonghwa grinned brightly. His eyes were sparkling. Her adorable reaction only made him braver.

“Sarangae, Jagiyah!” He said and very quickly snatched a kiss from her cheek.

Shinhye turned to face him with a surprised expression at his sudden love confession while he continued to smile at her like an innocent puppy. It was the final scene featured on the video.

Originally people thought the both of them would act in another drama together and clicked to catch the latest news. The actual reason completely caught the audience off guard though. The video with the wedding announcement became an instant hit. It went viral in a time that could even compete with music videos of popular KPOP groups. After all. Jung Yonghwa and Park Shinhye were huge names in South Korea, the Hallyu wave and even beyond. They immediately became one of the most famous power couples in history.

Of course Shinhye expected for the video to garner quite a lot of attention. However, she didn’t know if it was a good or bad thing yet. Shinhye had no idea of what was happening in the virtual world as she remained offline for the time being. Even her phone was switched off. At first Shinhye was grateful that he respected her wish of taking it slowly, especially on their rather rushed wedding night. However, soon she started to have a change of heart.
