Chapter 2

Breathe

"If I only have you, it's ok,

Because of you, it's ok,

But even if I'm staying with you,

I suddenly get scared, even though I was happy,

Because I love you" Jung Eunji, It's OK

Chapter 2

Everyone surrounded Bomi as Chorong helplessly performed CPR on her, hoping that she would breathe again. The girl had inhaled too much water and was almost on the verge of collapsing. Eunji knew that the girls couldn't stand and watch, ordering the maknaes to quickly call anyone. Whether it was their manager, their families, the ambulance, they needed all the help they could get to save Bomi. They've never experienced a situation like this before, where they were at danger of losing a loved one. This was the first time they had seen Chorong so fragile and vulnerable, tears flowing down her cheeks as her hands shivered in fear. All five girls cried together, sharing the pain they felt and prayed for the best.

But it was at that moment, Bomi started coughing out water. The girl started groaning as her eyes slowly opened up, to see Chorong and everyone else in her vision.

"Why are y'all-" before Bomi could even continue her sentence, Chorong immediately embraced her tightly. Hearing her quiet cries, the girl was confused but soon realised the situation she was in.

"Unnie, you might strangle me if you hug me too tight...." said Bomi with a cough.

"I-I really thought you were going to die..." said Chorong as she couldn't stop crying. Bomi could only smile at her, which was the only comfort she could give. After all, she was pretty confused herself. She wasn't sure how she ended up drowning herself or being in a place that doesn't feel like home. The others girls sighed in relief as they too, wiped their own tears.

"And why are all of you crying? Omo, Eunji you look ugly like that." teased Bomi as she looked at everyone.

"You pabo, this isn't the time to be joking!" said Eunji as she lightly hit Bomi, as she gently wiped the tears with her palm. She wasn't a girl who cried often and knew that she had to stay strong for the girls.

The maknaes took towels from inside, wrapping their soaked unnies up as they all went back into the large living room. By that time, everyone's emotions had settled for awhile, still slightly shaken up by what had happened in the morning. Bomi was silent the whole while, there was a really weird feeling that she couldn't say in words as her heart seemingly broke, seeing her members cry along. She wondered to herself, what kind of crazy thing she had done to the point where she has no memory of anything at all. It took some time for the girls to settle down and collect their thoughts together, as they started calling their manager and families, assuring them that Bomi was safe.

"Omo, you called an ambulance here as well?" said Bomi as she could hear the sirens outside the pension.

"We need to take you for a check up Bom-ah." said Chorong with worry in her eyes.

"It's okay, I don't need to. I'm perfectly fine now."

"Bomi-ya." Just by hearing her serious tone, the younger girl knew that it was serious. In the end, all she could do was to follow her unnie accordingly. After all, she didn't want them to worry anymore.

"I'll go with Bomi. The rest of you should pack up and we'll meet back in Seoul. Eunji-ya, you know what to do." said Chorong who went with Bomi together inside the ambulance while the four remaining girls looked on. Eunji knew what Chorong meant and simply nodded in response.

"Don't worry about us and take care of Bomi!" said Eunji as she waved goodbye, watching the ambulance drive down the hill. As the atmosphere slowly became quiet again, without the noisy sirens, there was peace in the pension. The girls did as they were told, packing their items and were ready to leave. It had already been three days since and it was time to head back to reality, that was work.

"Make sure you didn't leave anything okay?" reminded Eunji to the three maknaes. She was now in charge, being the third oldest among Apink, she had this sense of responsibility to take care of the dongsaengs well, especially in situations like these.

Eunji and Naeun were alone in the living room while Namjoo and Hayoung were packing any last items in their own rooms. Eunji noticed Naeun's expressions and could tell that the girl was still very shaken by what she saw this morning. The older girl walked up to her, lightly tapped her and smiled as she looked at her.

"You feeling okay Naeun-ah?" asked Eunji, in a comforting tone just like a mother would.

"I was just....really shocked unnie....." said Naeun quietly.

"It just never occured to me....that anyone of us here could die one day..." she continued. Listening to her words, Eunji frowned.

"Don't think like that. If you think like that, I'll punish you okay?" said Eunji with a mixture of seriousness and joke. She wasn't fond of people with negative emotions and believed in optimistic values.

"Got it unnie....I wouldn't want to get punish by you so..."

"This girl is really easy to be persuade aigoo" said Eunji with a smile as she playfully pinched Naeun's puffy cheeks.

On the other hand in the maknae's rooms, Hayoung had been quiet since then. Watching their incidents fold past her eyes and the fact that her unnie actually turned back to normal, she couldn't help but to worry and ponder over that wish she made at the internet cafe. She was worried yet thrilled at the same time, at the thoughts of becoming invisible. There were just so many things going on in the maknae's head, so much that turned her silent.

"Hayoung-ah, is something wrong? You've been really quiet this morning." said Namjoo as she approached the girl in worry.

"Ah...no, no, it's nothing unnie." said Hayoung with a smile. However, Namjoo just stared at her in suspicion. The unnie knew her far too well to tell that she was lying. Living together for more than 5 years, they knew each other's character very well and there was no escape from that.

"Lies." said Namjoo as she held Hayoung's hands.

"Tell me. Everything that worries you. Unnie is here to listen to you." said Namjoo as her smile dissapeared. It was clear that she wasn't joking around.

"Unnie...."

"If you're scared that Eunji unnie might hear, then I'll keep it a secret. I know you're scared of Eunji unnie."

"No actually, it's Chorong unnie."

"Ah....right...." said Namjoo with a dumbfounded expression to which Hayoung broke into a laughter. The maknae always found her unnie's facial expressions hilarious.

"D-Don't laugh Hayoung-ah, I'm trying to be serious here."

"Well, it doesn't look like you are."

"Hayoung-ah!" whined Namjoo to which the maknae couldn't help but laugh. But thanks to her, these worries seemed to appear smaller now. It didn't seem to bear much weight than before and gave her more confidence to tell her true feelings.

"Actually unnie...."

In the ambulance that continued it's way to a nearby hospital, out from the island of Wolmido, there was only silence. Bomi stared silently into blank space, trying to figure out what happened. She can't really remember how she ended up like this, it all just seemed like a dream.

"Unnie, what actually happened to me?" asked Bomi to Chorong who clinged onto tightly, arms wrapped around hers and her head gently leaning against her shoulder.

"You don't remember anything?"

The girl simply shook her head in response.

"You don't remember making a stupid wish that you wanted to be a child for three days?"

"A wish?"

[FIVE DAYS AGO]

It was past midnight and the girls of Apink had just finished their last schedule of the day, performing at an university event. It had been awhile, as they gathered at their local barbeque place and held a good, dinner feast of grilled meat and of course, alcohol. The atmosphere was a bit high but their managers were there, so it was still safe. Eunji who had a high tolerance was still able to hold her senses and simply laughed at her members whose faces turned as red as a tomato.

"You know what would be really awesome?" mumbled Bomi with a laugh.

"What?" said Eunji.

"Don't you just want to turn back to a child sometimes and just forget about the world? I remember the days where I used to rely on my parents so much and just stay at home, playing. If only I could turn back time, that would be really fun." smiled Bomi.

"Aigoo, what kind of nonsense are you saying? You probably drank too much. Go to sleep." said Eunji, slightly flustered at Bomi's random words.

"Maybe. I'll be going to the toilet." said Bomi as she got out of her seat.

"Okay, don't vomit in the toilet bowl." joked Eunji.

"I won't!"

Bomi walked to the toilet that was located at the back of the restaurant where the kitchen was. There was a backdoor opened widely, that gave space of the cold, night air to seep inside, acting as a natural air-conditioner. The girl stopped halfway, admiring the beautiful night sky outside.

"The weather's good today." mumbled Bomi to herself when her phone started ringing. Curious, as no one would call her at this late hour, the girl moved her hand into her pocket and took the phone out, where an unknown number was calling her.

"Who could it be?" pondered Bomi as she answered.

"Hello?"

"Good day Bomi-ssi, I'm guessing you're having a good time." said a voice, that did not seem to match anyone of particular.

"W-Who is this?"

"My identity does not concern you but what matters is, your wish."

"Huh?"

"You said that you wanted to become a child. Allow me to grant that wish for you."

"Um...Whatever, I think you've got the wrong number. I'm hanging up." said Bomi in a rush, slightly flustered at the random call. Hoping that the person never called again, Bomi quickly went to the toilet, hoping to forget whatever that has happened.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

"Ah..." muttered Bomi to herself, recalling back the memory.

"Bom-ah..." said Chorong, unimpressed as her eyebrows frowned.

"Yes unnie, it's my mistake I understand so I am sorry. Let's just say I did something silly again and this happened." smiled Bomi, not wanting to let the girl worry any more.

"If you say so Bom-ah, I just hope this doesn't happen ever again." sighed Chorong.

"It won't, unnie." The younger girl wanted nothing but bring happiness to her. After all, she had known how much Chorong had faced, the amount of pressure and things she had to keep up by being Apink's leader. Just adding more ridiculous things would increase that burden on her. Bomi had always been Chorong's source of support, of course Apink as a whole has always been there. Just like a family.

The trip to the hospital was short, the two girls got out of the ambulance and went straight for a check-up. The two girls were momentarily seperated as Bomi headed into a seperate room to have tests run through her. It was then, one of their managers, Hyunsoo came to check up on them. Chorong had informed him everything that happened, even from the start. Hyunsoo understood their situation and assured Chorong that he will do his best to explain to the CEO.

"There's nothing wrong with Bomi-ssi. All she needs is rest at home, and she'll be good to go. Her lungs are perfectly healthy so don't worry."

Those words from the nurse, brought relief to everyone as the girls headed back home, with their manager driving. By the time they arrived, they were reunited with the rest of the members where they reassured everyone that Bomi was fine and had no problems. The girls gathered in the living room and discussed what had happened today. This was always the norm and rule set by the leader, in order to prevent misunderstandings between the members and keep the team in perfect condition.

"This won't happen again right?" asked Chorong to which there was only silence in response. In all honestly, no one really knows. It was just a weird phenomenon that struck into their lives, unexplainable things that happen to come out from a fantasy movie. But Hayoung felt tense and nervous hearing her unnie's question, knowing the fact that she submitted a wish. Namjoo who sat beside her, could feel the maknae's discomfort and gently held her hands, telling her that it was going to be fine.

"I mean, if it does happen again, it's not like we can do anything about it right?" said Eunji with ease, simply accepting things as it is.

"But if this continues, this is going to affect a lot of things." said Chorong.

"Okay. I got it unnie, you don't need to start explaining it." said Eunji, stopping the leader from her nag that could last for hours.

"Anyways, Bomi unnie was really cute as a child. I got a lot of photos." laughed Namjoo as she showed her phone to Bomi. She wanted to change the topic quickly, so that Hayoung could feel at ease.

"Omg, I looked like that?! And wait, Chorong unnie is holding me? What the?!" said Bomi breaking into a laugh.

"Yeah, you were really cute." smiled Chorong.

"No, you were just a devil." joked Eunji.

"Hey!" said Bomi as the same-aged friends started hitting and teasing each other again.

"Anyways. Our short break is over and we have schedules starting tommorow. We've got a photoshoot for our upcoming Japan album and also a university performance at night." said Chorong, sending the details through their chatroom.

"Holiday break is over~" said Eunji as she stretched her arms.

"We still have some time before tommorow comes, anyone wants to hang out?" asked Namjoo.

"Oh? Let's go to that really good budae jjigae place we found on the internet the other day!" said Bomi with excitement.

"Omo! Let's do it unnie!" said Namjoo in agreement.

"I'll pass that, I need to start working on my artwork." said Naeun as she stood up and went straight to her room.

"Since Naeun unnie is going to use the room, I'll be heading out to the internet cafe." said Hayoung.

"Oh? Then, I'll come along too!" said Eunji.

"Unnie, I thought you were going to go to the gym" joked Hayoung.

"What are you saying?! It's not like I'm some gym freak!" said Eunji as she playfully hit the maknae's as a form of punishment.

"Make sure you guys arrive back before 12 midnight" reminded Chorong like a mother, who ensured that her kids would return home safely, smiling as she saw each one leaving. Soon, the noisy dorm turned silent. Although Chorong wasn't completely alone as Naeun was in her room, completing her painting, it was similiarly the same. This gave the leader, space and time to reflect the things that happened over the course of three days. It was quite a ride, taking care of a "child" Bomi to almost losing her right in front of her eyes.

With a sigh, the girl melted her body into the sofa, staring blankly at the television as she flipped through different channels. Being at home was normal for her, Chorong wasn't a person who liked going outdoors and just loved being in the comfort of the dorm.

~X~

The buddies from Shikshin Road were back again, visiting a famous budae jjigae place that achieved high praise from the internet. Of course, the duo had to properly disguise themselves in order to not attract much attention. They purposely chose the back seat of the restaurant that was hidden far, from the huge crowd. As Namjoo proceeded to order, the aunty waitress recognized her and immediately used her natural aegyo to ask her to keep it a secret from anyone. This only made Bomi laugh, finding her dongsaeng cute. Anyway, the aunty agreed and even gave them extra servings of budae jjigae for free, in thanks for making good, quality music.

The two girls loved eating, especially new food that explored their world of flavours. During that short period of time, Namjoo teased Bomi at how cute she was as a kid and the fact that she constantly stuck to Chorong like glue, refusing to leave her. Hearing that, Bomi somehow felt shy. She didn't know that she was doing things like that. But it was perhaps due to the fact that, Bomi did like her unnie a lot. Despite her being scary at times, Bomi knew that Chorong always had a shield behind that strong willpower of hers. She was the only one, who could see the soft side of her.

"But unnie, you didn't even know that you made a wish?" asked Namjoo in curiousity, food still full in .

"I do...well, let's just say I made a mistake." said Bomi, laughing it off.

"But what if it happens again?" asked Namjoo, as her smile dissapeared.

"Hm? What do you mean Namjoo-ya?"

"Actually..." said Namjoo as she looked around.

"Omo, you look like a thief." laughed Bomi out loud, always finding her expressions rather funny.

"Unnie, don't laugh!"

"Ok, ok, I won't." said Bomi as she tried to keep a serious face.

"Actually, Hayoung told me not to tell anyone and she will probably kill me for this but I think unnie should know. After all, we shouldn't be hiding things from each other. That's what Chorong unnie told us since the start of our debut."

"What could it be that Hayoung would hide from us?"

"About that wish....."

Meanwhile, at an internet cafe not far from their dorm was Eunji and Hayoung who were already caught up in a heated shooting game. They were on the same team and played against another team, in which Hayoung kept blaming Eunji that she made the team lose. The duo spent two, good hours, releasing their stress and just playing games. They were just so engrossed that they forgot about the curfew, given by their leader. It was already 11:50pm.

"Crap. Chorong unnie is going to kill us. Hey, quickly turn off the computer and let's head home." said Eunji, urging the maknae to hurry.

"Okay unnie, I need to log out first." said Hayoung, her eyes still focused on the screen.

"I'll head to the toilet first so I'll wait for you outside alright?"

"Got it unnie." smiled Hayoung. But as she clicked the log out button, she can't help but to worry about that silly wish she made. The fact that it could happen anytime, worried her a lot.

"What if I'm going to be invisible forever?"

As soon as the clock striked 12, it was far too late to stop anything. By the time Eunji got out from the toilet and waited for Hayoung, she wondered what was taking her so long. Standing outside the internet cafe for about 5 minutes, Eunji felt that something was wrong. Heading back inside, the girl looked everywhere for Hayoung but to no avail. Usually it would be very easy to look for her, due to the maknae's height.

"Where did that kid go?" mumbled Eunji t herself as she frantically looked for her while trying to not look to obvious and have her identity revealed.

Heading back to the same computer that the two used, Hayoung's handphone was on the floor.

"Wait...." said Eunji to herself, realising that something was wrong as she picked up the handphone. It was at that moment, her phone rung and there was a new message notification.

"Thank you for continuing onto the second round! We hope that you enjoyed the first round of the game! As promised, Miss Hayoung's wish to become invisible has been granted! We have noticed your desire and hope that you enjoy this privilege of becoming invisible forever!"

"What the heck is this?!" blurted Eunji out in anger in a loud voice, which attracted attention. She could already feel people staring at her.

"S-Sorry.." apologized Eunji as she quickly got out the internet cafe, quickly calling the person that came first into her mind. Leader, Chorong.

~X~

Back at the budae jjigae restuarant, Bomi almost cursed out in disbelief to the point where Namjoo had to cover and remind her that they were in a public place.

"Unnie!" whispoered Namjoo, placing a finger over her lips.

"But if Hayoung really does become invisble, wouldn't that mean we are going to be in a lot of trouble?!"

"Like I said, Chorong unnie is going to be really mad."

"But we all know our maknae all too well...she's still young and childish at times...." sighed Bomi, worrying over Chorong's reaction to this.

"Well, that makes her cute in a way because it makes us want to protect her more." smiled Namjoo.

It was then, Bomi's phone started ringing. Looking at who is was, Bomi's smile lost itself in which Namjoo looked on with worry.

"Guess it has already happened." said Bomi, showing the phone to Namjoo with the contact "Rong Rong Unnie"

"Hello? Chorong Unnie?" answered the girl.

"Bom-ah. Stop whatever that you are doing. You and Namjoo need to come back to the dorm now."

"Got it unnie." said Bomi as she immediately hung out. They needed no questions or answers to understand what was happening. The girl could already tell from her tone that she was worried, anxious and clearly not in the mood to joke around.

"What did she say unnie?" said Namjoo.

"Let's go Namjoo-ya. We need to save our maknae." smiled Bomi as she called for the bill.
