“Where are you?”

“I’m –hic- inside –hic-my room –hic-, Donghae” on the other line, Jessica was sobbing really hard

“Will you come out?”

“I don’t –hic- feel –hic- like it”

“Uh, Would it be okay if I come in? Since you’re a girl and I’m a boy”

Donghae’s a gentleman after all

“I won’t mind –hic- ‘cause you’re –hic- my friend”

Immediately, he went inside Jessica’s room only to find her under the sheets and still crying. He then sat on the side of the bed  

“Sica, what happened?”

“He said –hic- he doesn’t –hic- love –hic- me anymooooooooooooooore”

“I knew he would mess up”

“Why –hic- did you say so?”

Finally, Jessica sat up straight and turned to face the man sitting on her bed

“Male instincts. You called me a jerk before but he’s actually BETTER than me; yet you chose him over me” he joked

But his reply made her cry harder

“Shhhhhhh, he’s not a man worth crying for, ok. Just remember that Taecyeon is only a stupid guy who broke your heart”

Using his thumb, he wiped the well of tears on Jessica’s face.

“Can I hug you?” she asked

“Of course”

And he gave her a non-suffocating but a loving bear hug. They were like that for minutes...

“Thank you, Donghae”

“Why?”

“For being with me through thick and thin”

He just smiled at her in return

Jessica never knew that the man she hated the most was destined to be her BEST friend. Donghae was always there, he never fails to give his shoulder whenever she cries or when she’s feeling down. She didn’t expect him to come but he did...she didn’t expect that he’s the only friend she called who came over to see and comfort her.

Donghae indeed is a true friend. But he hated being called a ‘friend’ or even a ‘special friend’.

“So if you and Taecyeon have broken up then...does that mean I have a chance?”

“Shut up” she just laughed at his expression

“But I’m serious”

“I just broke up with my boyfriend. I mean ex-boyfriend and I’m seriously wasted right now. N.O.W.”

“Then would you still give me a chance in case you have moved on?”

“I’ll- I’ll think about it”

“I will wait”

“Donghae-“

In a sudden moment, Donghae brushed his lips against hers. It was a chaste but romantic kiss. His feelings were conveyed through his kiss as if it was telling a story. After the kiss, Jessica just stared at him as if he swallowed an elephant.

“Di- Di- Did you just? You’re so stupid, Donghae”

“I know. I’m sorry, I just got carried away”

He palmed Jessica’s face one more time and gave her a soft peck on the forehead.

“Don’t cry anymore. I will wait”
