The biggest miracle of the Land of Miracles was when a 6 year-old guy named Howon had saved a bunch of people from dying in an explosion. And it had continued to be that way. Howon was hardly out of reach, and people hardly died.

The stupidest miracle of the Land of Miracles was when Howon had let people die in front of his eyes. And it was a miracle because no one thought Howon could be this heartless. Howon the perfect guy became the mean guy and it had been years since then. People still despise Howon. So do they despise Howon's only family; his child.

Some think Howon has become selfish, some say Howon's too lazy to be helping anymore. Some say he's tired of his job, some say this unhelpful man is Howon's twin. Some say Howon had vowed to his wife that he'd never save anyone again, some say Howon doesn't want his child to know about his power. None of them made sense, all of them were rumours. All of all, Howon is a selfish and mean guy. And if Howon went to explain, they still wouldn't understand him. So he better be the selfish guy, he didn't want to be the good guy when he couldn't be one.

Howon rocked gently on his armchair, thinking, like he did everyday. He sat thinking about his conversation with his Grandmother years ago, when Bora died and his child was born.

His grandmother hardly ever talked. His granfather was a man who could read minds, so he didn't need his wife to talk. And no one else had the right to interfere in their silent world, no one did.

The first time Howon remembers his grandmother had talked to him was on his 6th birthday. To greet him. And she used to greet him once a year. On his birthday. She was a woman of great knowledge and wit and had this demanding aura around her. She knew she didn't need to speak when she didn't need to. Her mental ability was to foresee the future. She didn't need to converse when she knew the answers to all of her questions. All we want to know is what we don't know, and all that we don't know, resides in the future. She better spent her time studying and knowing all that she didn't know about the past.

So she was the only person alive in the Land of Miracles, who knew why Howon had turned into the mean guy. She knew it before Howon knew it himself. She was the only person Howon could talk to. And she knew Howon needed to talk.
