Chapter 1
Death and Destined Death
She stared at the rain drop sliding down the car window. The ever so fascinating rain didn't seem fascinating anymore. The silent car ride didn't seem peaceful anymore.
"You could have saved him. Harabeoji (grandpa) could still be alive,"
Silence ruled the atmosphere as both of them stared at nothing. Tears very slowly made their way down her cheeks. But she was cold and expressionless. And he knew he couldn't say anything. Guilt was killing him, being an obstacle to the flow of air in and out of his body.
"Yah Lee Howon, answer me!" Her voice was demanding, and doleful.
"I don't know what to say, Yoon Bora," He answered in monotone.
"Why didn't you save your grandfather? He was like... the world to you," She asked again, staring at him in curiosity, anticipation and... disappointment.
"You are my world. Nothing means to me more than you."
"That's not the point at all!"
"Yoon Bora!" He called, seriousness dripping from his husky voice, "I have my reasons. I have my choices. I have every right to decide on every action of mine. Is that more like the point?"
She scoffed, "I don't know you anymore, Howon. Not after what you did to- No! Not after what you didn't do today. I wish you saved him. You let a man die!"
Her words struck his skin like thorns. They pained his throat as if he had swallowed a cactus. His eyes hurt like they were spooned
