Her eyes“Thank you.” She thanked me as took the cup from me.
“Be careful it’s so hot.”
She nodded slightly. She wrapped her fingers around cup.
Sigh and sigh and sigh…
It was all I could hear from her.
“Eunjung” I tried to break the ice.
She stared up. “Yes?”
“Would you mine to tell me about your life?”
“What do you want to know?”
“About your mother. How was your relationship with her? don’t you have any other sibling?”
“No. I’m the only child. And about my mother…” a sigh cut her words for a while. “We were so close at the past but after my father’s death, she changed a lot. She loved my father a lot and it was so hard for her to believe he isn’t with us anymore. After that she became so quit and rarely talked even with me. She was spending all day in her private room that wasn’t allowed to enter. I was so lonely. Everybody said my mother is so weird and the neighbors kept distance from us. I couldn’t make friend with anyone, since they would afraid of my mother weird actions. There was just one person that accepts me as friend. A girl that I met in library. She was younger than me and was so warm.” She sighed again. “I wonder if she still remembers me. It’s more than two years that we didn’t see eachother. She may hate me for leaving suddenly without saying goodbye to her.”
Why everything about her was so painful? Her life was completely a tragedy? Oh god, what should I do with this girl? It’s not my problem, should I just ask her to leave my house so I should back to my normal life? Can’t lie her forever. Today or tomorrow, she should know the truth. Yeas, I should tell her.
“Hey,…. Don’t worry she will understand you.” Damn me. I can’t. she is so sad tonight. Let’s just say it another time.
She showed me a smile and lowered her head again.
That smile reminded me of the bitter taste of coffee in morning. I can swear this smile was more bitter than that.
The buzzing sound of my cellphone grabbed my attention. I answered the call as soon as see my girlfriend name on screen.
“Hey,honey.”
Her cheerful voice bring me a faint smile. “hi.”
“I’m heading to your place. Did you eat? Or should I have buy some food?”
“WHAT?”
Eunjung’s questioning look darted on my face.
“Qri. What’s wrong?”
“AH…Actually I’m not home.” Perfect. I’m going to lie and lie again.
“Really? Then where are you?”
“I come to meet someone.” I can’t let her come here. She shouldn’t see Eunjung. “I’ll come to you instead.”
“Great. I’m waiting baby.”
“Ok.”
