Dear Interpreter

Description

Je Hoon studied Ji Won's hopeless expression. Something about this fiery moment gave him the sudden urge to recklessly pull her into an embrace. Perhaps it was her tear-stained cheeks, her nose red from the winter chill, or her trembling lips...

He watched as she leaned her head against his chest. Time seemed to have stopped then. He urged himself to snap out of it, but his disobeying hands slowly slid across her back, the warmth of her body spreading to his palms. Why did he feel so pained? He closed his eyes as he felt her tears seep through his dress shirt onto his bare chest. He had never lost control like this...

Lee Je Hoon is often referred to as the ‘interpretation genius’ and is the director of the prestigious Institute of Advance Interpretation (IAI) with the Chinese and Korean governments as his regular clients. However, many years of extreme professionalism has led to an arrogant and cold-hearted personality as well as a lack of trust in anyone but himself. Kim Ji Won dreams of working at the IAI and after grueling years of studying, she is finally a probationary intern there. However, she suffers under the strict supervision of her mentor.

Foreword

Main Cast

Lee Je Hoon (30)

Lee Je Hoon is fluent in English, Chinese and Korean and often deals with important and confidential governmental affairs. To avoid diplomatic incidents, Je Hoon deals with matters objectively and prohibits any emotional influence. Because of this, he has developed an aloof personality and comes off as someone who is arrogant and unapproachable.

Kim Ji Won (23)

Kim Ji Won’s life-long dream is to work at the Institute of Advance Interpretation and has studied hard to achieve this ever since high school. During her years at university, she has always placed within the top three. However, she suffers from mild claustrophobia and cannot enter simultaneous interpreter booths. Despite this, she is optimistic and does not give up.

Author’s Note (which you can skip)

So I just finished watching 42 episodes of the “popular” Chinese drama ‘Dear Translator’. The first half was good, but not so much the second half... So I decided to take matters into my own hand and start a fanfic. My story is based on the original drama so it will have a similar plotline initially and I’ll also be using some of their scenes plus my own tweaks topped with extra cheese. As for why I didn't keep to the original characters (Cheng Jia Yang and Qiao Fei), I don't really know myself...ahaha. Just pretend this is a Korean remake of the drama. I'd also like to apologise for my rusty English in advance. Anyway, happy reading!
