Whole of a Half

A/N: Zico is KIND OF made out to be a bit of a bad guy in this one, so if that bothers you sorry... but I thought the idea was amusing. Enjoy~

You flopped down onto your bed and breathed a sigh of relief. It had been a long day at your new internship. You had landed a pretty good intership at a broadcasting staion translating their videos into English for the subtitles. But you had to admit, the long hours of listening to the same clip over and over again to get it just right was pretty tedious. Your text message tone went off and you rolled onto your side to look at your phone. Your heart started beating faster as you saw the name that popped up on your screen accompanied by a warm, smiling face.

Did you get home okay?

It seemed like such a simple text but you could feel your face heat up and your heart pound even harder in your chest. You had been at your intership for about four months now, but your second week on the job you had met him. The most perfect boy who you had liked and respected ever since his first American single. Dean. He had wandered into the office one day and you had been riffling through a cabinet looking for the script of a show you were working on that day. Finally you had found it and as you pushed the cabinet to close it with your body, he had bumped into you causing you  to drop the script booklet. Before you could reach to pick it up, he had already picked it up for you and handed it back to you. "Sorry for bumping into you," he had said. "Here's your script."

"Thank you," you had replied.

"Are you new here? I haven't seen you around." He had smiled at you softly.

"Oh, um... yeah. I started last week. I'm the translation intern," you had stated way more cooly than your frantic mind had intended.

"I see," he had replied. "Welcome to the company. Let me know if you need any help." And with that he had pressed a sticky note with his number into your palm and left. Since that day, Dean and you had met a few more times at the office and then finally you had the courage to text him. After that, you met outside the office and one fateful day, he had asked you to start seeing him as his girlfriend. The two of you were in a new relationship, only about 3 months, and you were just testing things out. You couldn't deny that you were attracked to Dean and he made you happy. But there was still so much that you didn't know about each other and your lives were so different.

You swiftly replied to the text snapping out of your daydream of the past. Yeah, I got home just now. Are you still at the studio?

Almost immediately a reply came. Of course haha. I live here. I'm going to get dinner with Zico and Crush then work some more.

You smiled. His passion was one of the things you loved about him, but at the same time you wished he didn't work himself so hard and that there was something you could do for him. Have a good dinner. Eat lots. Can I do anything for you?

You could hear him chuckling as he replied. Zico will take care of me. Just knowing you're thinking about me is enough.

You cleared your throat at the cheesy line and couldn't help a small laugh escaping your lips.

Dean POV

Zico leaned over Deans shoulder as Dean busily texted away. Zico had never seen Dean become distracted especially in the middle of a track. He watched as Dean smiled at his phone and his fingers furiously typed away.

"Who are you texting?" he finally asked pointedly.

Dean put down his phone immediately and went back to work. "No one," he replied nonchalantly.

Zico pushed away from the desk suspiciously and slowly rolled his chair closer to Dean's. "I've never seen you text so urgently," Zico commently coolly close to Dean's ear. He smiled slyly as he saw Dean stiffen and turn to face his friend. "Don't try to hide it," he said slyly, "you found yourself a girl, haven't you?" Zico pictured all the cute celebrities that Dean had pointed out as "his type" in the past and smiled wider to himself.

Dean nodded and smiled widely.

"So when do I get to meet her?" Zico pressed.

Your POV

It was the weekend and you quickly gathered your things for your outting with Dean. You were practically ripping yourself apart with mixing emotions. On one hand you were super excited about spending more time with him because he was so busy. On the other hand, you were nervous as hell. Your heart was beating out of your chest. He had admitted that the start of the date would have to be at the studio. He had a little bit of work to do, so you also stuffed your memos and scripts into your bag so you could do a little work too. With that you did one last turn in front of the mirror and left for the company buildiing.

I hesitated outside of the studio door. This is where Dean had told you to come, but for some reason you hesitated when you heard voices from behind the door. You weren't sure who's they were, but you had always felt uncomfortable around ofther celebrities. Dean had introduced you to Crush a few times and he was always nice, but you had never met Dean's other celebrity friends. You were just normal and that made you scared sometimes. You took a deep breath and cracked the door open peeking in. Dean was sitting comfortably at the desk with Zico talking and laughing. You recognized him from broadcasts and shows you had translated. Both of their eyes turned to the door as your pushed it open a little more but not moving into the room yet.

"Y/N!" Dean exclaimed getting up quickly and rushing to meet you. He opened the door for you and pulled you deeper into the room. You held up a paper bag that you had brought cut fruit in. Without you having to say anything, Dean took it from your hands. "Awww, youu didn't have to bring anything. I could have taken you out for ice cream. Oh!" His eyes fell on Zico and your eyes followed his. You wish you hadn't. Zico was glaring at you with a gaze like fire and ice. You flinched as his gaze and tried to be polite by bowing. "Y/N this is Zico, but you probably know that. He's a close friend of mine. And Zico this is Y/N, my girlfriend."

"It's nice to meet you," you said more confidently than you felt. You bowed again. "I'm sorry if I interrupted you two," you apologized looking up at Dean.

Dean shook his head and began to reassure you, but suddenly he was cut off by Zico.

"You have got to be kidding me," he hissed harshly. "Dean, you can't be serious," he continued with a voice like poison.

"Serious about what?" Dean asked just as confused as you were, but a sinking feeling began to settle in your stomach.

"She's your girlfriend?" Zico questioned mockingly. "She's so normal. You have so many other cute celebrity girls chasing after you and you settle for this little girl?" Zico scoffed incredulously. "She's so basic I probably wouldn't look at her twice on the street. You've got to be kidding me." Zico laughed cruelly.

To your surprise, you weren't hurt at all. You were angy. Before Dean could even say anything you were lashing out. "Basic? Normal?" you scoffed at Zico. "You've got to be kidding me. What? You think that just because you're a celebrity and have girls drooling after you that you're better than me some how? Yeah. I might not be a celebrity, but I'm not going to take that crap from you. Who do you think you are? Also, what does it matter to you who you're friend dates? Isn't it enough that Dean's happy with me? Or are you just bitter because you don't have a girlfriend?" You let out your breath slowly after that outburst.

Dean and Zico were just staring at you in shock. As your anger subsided your dread began to set in. Zico was one of Dean's best friends and you probably made him hate you forever. Plus you just made one of Korea's hottest celebrities hate you. This wasn't good. The dread spread like ice water through your body and soon you felt heavy. The longer the silence went on the deeper your pit of despair became.

Suddenly Zico let out a loud laugh. "Is that so?" he seemingly taunted at you."Well if you talk like that to every celebrity who disses you, you certainly aren't normal or basic." Zico stood up and took your limp hand to shake it. "Nice to meet you, Y/N. We'll be friends from now on I guess. Take care of Dean."

You were riding the elevator down with Dean to go out when suddenly Dean swept you into his arms and pressed his mouth to you. You couldn't help the small surprised noise that fell out of your lips. Dean pulled away slightly and laughed. "He likes you," he murmured against your lips. You couldn't help but laugh and breath a sigh of relief before Dean pushed his lips to yours again.
