Chapter 2

In the meantime Hanbin gets treated in the ER. They start to make all kinds of tests to find the cause of his blood loss. The nurses cut open Hanbins shirt so that they can check on his stomach. After Hanbins condition is stable, they scan his body and use ultrasound when the doctor in charge suddenly frowns and stops holding the ultrasound transducer a bit underneath his navel. He turns his head to his assisting nurse and whispers into her ear. “Li, Call for a gynaecologist and urologist. Immediately.” The nurse nods her head and rushes out of the room.

The doctor moves the apparatus again then widens his eyes in disbelieve. “This can't be...” He looks up to Hanbins face and clicks his tongue then moves the tool again and turns the sound on. The whole room quiets down when they feel the tension of the young doctor and catch their breath when besides Hanbins heartbeat rate a slowly and faint heartbeat starts beating in sync with Hanbins. It is as if time stopped and everyone concentrates on the heartbeats when Li comes back with the specialists but leaves outside again. “Why did you call for me, Min-ssi? I am busy myself.” A tall and skinny build woman ties her black hair back and sighs when she sees the patient. “A man? Why did you call me when the patient is a man?” Behind her walks a good looking yet already middle aged man with a suite and sighs. “She is right, I just wanted to go home. Why did you call for us, Min-ah?” Wei, the specialist in gynaecology sighs and turns to the good looking man. “As if you were on your way home, I bet you were going to pick up another girl in the bar downstairs, ne Xiao- seonsaengnim?” Xiao, specialist in urology, coughs irritated, fixes his tie then turns to Min. “Amnuten, wae did you call for us?” Min sighs. “I bet you won't get mad at me this time.” He turns to Hanbin then shows them to come closer. “His name is Kim Hanbin, 21 years old and was brought in form unconsciousness and inner bleeding. The bleeding stopped and his condition is stable but we couldn't find any bruises or injuries so we scanned him and just now I did an ultrasound to check where the bleeding came from when I caught that.” He turns to Hanbin and puts the ultrasound gel and transducer back on Hanbins stomach and turns on the sound. At first Wei and Xiao looks uninterested since they are used to their dongsaeng Min making their lives hard as doctors but when they hear the heartbeat, Wei is the first to rush to Min and to look at the screen. “This can't be?” She shoves Min to the side and moves the tool. She winks a nurse to come and starts muttering something for the nurse to write down. “7.8 centimeter, the heartbeat is stable and strong. From the size I would say 6-7^th week... This ...this is a miracle.” Min pouts and looks at Wei. “I knew you would like this. Don't always be so mean to me Noona.” Wei looks at Min sceptical then looks up to Xiao and points him with her head to come. “You see this?” Xiao lowers his face to see the screen then turns to Hanbin and back to the screen. “Did he had surgery? What's his birth gender?” Min shows Xiao the folder. “We just got the data, he was male since birth and there are no notes of him having any surgery.” Wei and Xiao look at each other. Mins eyes wander between his sunbaes. Wei turns to Xiao and looks jittery. “Could it be PMDS?” Xiao takes the ultrasound tool from Wei's hand and moves it then looks at the screen. “Right now this could be the only solution.” Min as well as the nurses in the ER room look confused. “PMDS? What is this?” Min looks at Xiao and Wei. Wei sighs and looks almost scolding. “That's why I hate general practitioner, you act as if you know everything, but then again you know actually nothing.” Xiao sighs and shakes his head. “Wei your words are as blunt as ever.” Min frowns at looks at Xiao. “What is PMDS?” Xiao takes down the tool and starts to touch up Hanbins stomach. “PMDS or in long 'Persistant Müllerian Duct Syndrome'. It is really rare and up to now there were only few men world wide that were born with that syndrome. The cause is simply a mutation of the XY infant in male bodies which cause them to build female organs.” Min and the other nurses look at Xiao with wide eyes and try to understand what this means just now. Wei sighs looking at Xiao. “Basically this boy is pregnant and the embryo is almost 8 centimeter tall and seems to be healthy. But this will be the cause why he suddenly started bleeding. He had something similar to l bleeding, that sometime can happen to women who are already pregnant. Their hormones are all working to make it comfortable for the baby and since he is a man, I think it isn't something unusual that he was bleeding. But the baby is alright and he is fine too.” She checks the folder and notes form the machines. “Their heartbeat rate is strong and there are no problems with the uterus.” Min sighs somewhat relieved then takes another look at Hanbin, and when he looks closer, just then he realises who he is. His little sister is a huge iKON fan and forced him to go to one of their concerts even though he doesn't like kpop that much but now he remembers him. He turns to Wei and Xiao and stutters. “You...you...you know who he is right?” Xiao and Wei frown confused since they never showed interest in kpop themselves. Min sighs. “I knew his name and face looked familiar. He is the leader of this group...what was the name again...iRON...Aion....” Li, Min's assistant nurse that was just outside to take care of Bobby enters the room and sighs. “iKON, he is the leader from iKON.” Min turns to her and nods. “Yes...iKON...I knew something with I...” Wei and Xiao turn to him and sigh. “So?” Min sighs “What so? Don't you know that iKON is the most recommended rookies group right now and he is the leader.” Min just says what he remembers from her sister. Wei and Xiao look less interested. Xiao turns to the still unconscious Hanbin and then to Min. “To be honest, I would rather want to know who managed to make him pregnant than what idol he is.”Li looks at the doctors with wide eyes. “Preg...pregnant?” Min nods “He seems to have PMDS. That means he is pregnant even though he is a man.” Li gulps and don't know if she should blush or jolt in shock. Min pats her back and smiles. “That was everyone's reaction in here who heard that...don't worry.” Xiao and Wei look scolding at Min and Wei sounds annoyed. “Min-ssi, if it is fine by you Xiao and I will take this case.” Min nods and bows slightly. “Of course, that's why I called you in the first place.” Wei nods then tells the nurses to bring him to the VIP room. Xiao walks to Min and wants to ask if he knows if the guardian from Hanbin is outside , when Hanbin wakes up. Wei turns to Hanbin and leans over him checking on his eye reflexes with a small torch. Wei looks up to Xiao and Min. “His reflexes are alright we better transport him to his room now so he can rest.

Hanbin hears unfamiliar voices talk but he can't understand anything they say. He feels heavy and his body is numb from not being able to move. Hanbin tries to open his eyes but the light is too bright and he blinks his eyelids fast to get used to the sudden light. He feels that the respiratory mask is in his way when he wants to say something. Min takes off the mask and Xiao talks in a calm voice in English. “Mr. Kim...can you hear us Mr. Kim?” Hanbin blinks his eyes still unable to focus and looks around. His voice cracks but he mutters. “Bobby....Jiwon-Hyung...where...” Wei pats Hanbins shoulder and talks in a calm voice. “Mr. Kim, my name is Wei Xing. You are in the hospital, please try to stay calm and take your time to rest, you are alright.” Hanbin nods absent minded and shuts his eyes again since he feels sleepy anyway. Wei and Xiao nod then tells the nurses to take him to the room. Min walks to Wei and Xiao. Wei puts her hand on her chin and frowns her forehead. “I still wonder who will be the one who impregnated him.” Xiao sighs and asks irritated. “It has to be a man, that's for sure.” Li hears their talk and slowly walks to them and coughs. “...excuse me...his team members is waiting outside. He is waiting for news about Mr. Kim's condition.” Wei and Xiao turn to Li then nod their heads. Xiao sighs “Could it be that he is the one?” Wei shakes her head but sighs “I don't know but maybe.” Min checks the folder again and shows them the note of the guardians. “They said that one said he is his boyfriend.”

Wei, Xiao and Min just want to leave the ER to talk to Bobby when Min's phone vibrates and asks him to come to another emergency. Min excuses himself from Wei and Xiao before they leave the ER.

Bobby still waiting outside the ER unable to calm his nerves when the door opens and he sees the doctors walk on the hallway. “Mr Kim's guardian?” Bobby jolts and rushes to them but looks for Hanbin immediately. He talks in English with his eyes glassy from his tears. “Our guardian just left...What is with Hanbin-ah? Is he alright?” Wei looks at Xiao and Xiao coughs. “Mr Kim's condition is stable and he is currently on his way to his room to rest.” Bobby's lips tremble in relieve and he grabs the wall to hold his body on his feet. “Thank god.” He shuts his eyes and sends a quick prayer to heaven then looks up and stares at the doctors. He sounds still nervous and worried. “Can I go see him? I have to see him. Please let me see him.” Bobby looks concerned at the doctors. Wei and Xiao face Bobby and Xiao talks calmly. “I am sorry but he needs to rest now. Mr...? Sorry what is your name?” Bobby bows his head slightly. “Kim Jiwon.” Wei looks confused when she hears that they have the same surnames. “Mr. Kim too?” Bobby nods his head. “Bobby, just Bobby is fine too.” Wei and Xiao smile briefly. “Alright, then.... Bobby? Sorry to be so blunt but I would like to know what is your relationship with Mr. Kim Hanbin?” Bobby bites his lips and look at them. “We are in the same group, he is our leader and my friend.” He remembers the words from Yunhyuk, that he wouldn't say anything unnecessary again. Wei and Xiao look not satisfied with his answer. Wei clicks her tongue and smiles at Bobby. “Bobby-ssi, would you please follow us, we have a few question which will be a bit uncomfortable for you to answer out here on the hallway, I assume.” Bobby looks confused and worried but nods his head. “I ...just want to see Hanbin...please.” Xiao nods and pats Bobby's pack briefly. “He already asked for you but he fell asleep, his body is quite exhausted. He will probably just sleep right now, in the mean time we wait for him to wake up could you help us?” Bobby nods and follows them to a separate office room. Wei and Xiao take a seat on the table and show Bobby to sit down too. Bobby hesitates a bit before he sits down but takes a seat at last and looks at the doctors.

Wei and Xiao open their folders then turn to Bobby. Xiao is the first to start talking. “Bobby-ssi, is it true that you are Mr. Kim's boyfriend?” Bobby looks at them then turns to the side. If he answers them now he could get into serious problems later with Yunhyuk and the press perhaps too. Wei looks at Bobby and Xiao. “Bobby-ssi, we don't try to force you to tell us, but regarding Mr. Kim's condition it would really help us if we know that.” Bobby looks at them. “What condition? You said he is fine...then what condition are you talking about? And what would this has to do with Hanbin's condition?” Bobby stares at them with piercing eyes. Wei and Xiao sigh. Wei “Bobby-ssi in the report we got, it is said that you wanted to accompany Mr. Kim , because you are his boyfriend. Is that correct?” Bobby lowers his head and face the table. After thinking for a bit he nods his head. “Please, I ...I know this...I might get into problems if this gets public...not that I have a problem with that but my company...I...” Xiao and Wei sigh and smile at him when Xiao assures Bobby. “Bobby-ssi we are not allowed to talk about our patients privacy, don't worry.” Bobby nods flustered then looks at them. “But...but...what has that to do with Hanbins condition?” Xiao and Wei look at each then at Bobby. Wei smiles and crosses her fingers on the table, resting her underarms on the surface. “Bobby-ssi, I am asking this seriously and I want you to answer us with a honest reply.” Bobby looks at them and almost feels as if he is going to be arrested. Wei smiles and continues. “Are you and Mr. Kim in an intimate relationship including ual contact?” Bobby at first taken aback by the sudden question and can't react at all only when Xiao repeats the question he interrupts him and stutters. Embarrassed to talk about this kind of thing and worried at the same time about Hanbin. “We...we...do...have...I mean...we...are.” Wei leans back and puts on a serious expression. “Have you been his only partner or was he intimate with someone beside you?” Bobby frowns and shakes his head. “What?...No, of of...course not...” Wei nods her head while Bobby gets all kinds of thoughts to the point where he even thinks that he could have infected Hanbin with a disease. Xiao looks at Bobby and then to Wei. Bobby is getting more and more impatient until he can't hold back his composer. “What are all those questions? Why can't you tell me what's wrong with him? How much longer do I have to sit here and worry until you will tell me why he was like this?” Tears start to build from his anger in his eyes and he gets up from his chair and hits his palms on the table. “Tell me why he is like this!? Please!” Wei and Xiao stay quiet for a bit when Wei leans forward and looks at Bobby. She her lips before she talks. “Kim Hanbin has a very seldom genetic effect. It's called PMDS.” Bobby looks at her as she explains what this is. After she finishes Bobby is just as confused as before. “So...what ...what does this mean for Hanbin?” Xiao butts in. “Bobby-ssi, what we try to explain to you is...” He stops and looks at Bobby. Bobby stares at him. Xiao sighs and continues. “...that... that Kim Hanbin is pregnant.” Bobby looks at their faces and gets almost angry. “I am serious! Tell me what is wrong with him!” Wei sighs and opens the folder then takes out the ultrasound picture of Hanbins embryo. She slides the picture to Bobby and makes him look at it. “We are serious. This is the truth.” Bobby looks at the picture then drops back on his seat. He picks up the black and white photograph. He starts to shakes his head and laughs bitter. “This ...this is impossible...he …he is a...man...” He looks at the picture then clutches his hand on his mouth. “This can't be...How is this possible.” Wei explain in a calm voice. “To be honest this is really a miracle. Most of the men that have PMDS are infertile, we didn't yet test it but for his case it could have been possible that he would never be able to have children if he were together with a woman.” Bobby still unable to believe what he heard just now tries to sort out his mind. Wei and Xiao give Bobby some time before Xiao carefully starts to continue. “Bobby, I know this is a lot of to handle but can we ask you what you think. You seem to be the father of his child.” Bobby looks up and his vision seems to shake. He looks at the picture again then whispers. “I want to see it...I ...I can't believe this if I haven't seen it.” His voice cracks and his lips start trembling. Wei nods her head and pats Xiaos shoulder then gets up. “He will probably still be asleep by now.” Bobby gets up and holds on to the picture and follows Wei and Xiao to Hanbins room. On their way to the elevator Bobby keeps on looking at the picture with mixed feelings of confusion and worry. When they leave the elevator, Xiao gets a call too. He stops and tells Wei that he has to leave unfortunately. “Sorry but it is urgent. I have to go there now.” Wei shakes her head then guides Bobby to Hanbins room. Bobby bows to Xiao absent minded and walks after Wei. Xiao gets back on the elevator and leaves. Wei and Bobby walk down the hallway then stop in front of Hanbins room. Wei opens the door and shows Bobby to get in. Bobby nods to her then goes inside.

Hanbin lays on the bed but is fast asleep. Bobby rushes to Hanbins side and smiles relieved to see him and carefully takes Hanbins hand and him. Hanbins skin looks less pale than before and Bobby sobs relieved to see Hanbin. Wei shuts the door behind her and walks to the other side of the bed and checks on Hanbins current data. Bobby looks at Wei. “Doc?” She lifts her head and smiles. “He is alright, don't worry he is just tired. Hold on.” She walks to a machine and rolls it towards Hanbins bed then carefully puts the blanket away and lifts Hanbins shirt. Hanbin doesn't notice any of that since he is in a deep sleep. Bobby looks at Wei and frowns. “What are you doing?” Wei laughs amused and carefully puts the ultrasound gel on Hanbins stomach before she let the ultrasound transducer touch Hanbins stomach. Hanbin jolts slightly form the cold gel but continues to sleep frowning his forehead. Bobby caresses Hanbin cheek and looks worried until Wei turns on the baby's heartbeat. Bobby's chest feels tight and he turns his head to Wei with wide eyes. Wei smiles and starts to move the tool gentle until she has a clear picture of their baby. Bobby looks closer to the screen but at first he doesn't see anything. He blinks his eyes when he suddenly sees the tiny little thing on the screen. Wei looks at Bobby. “This is the head and this...this is the heart.” She points with her other hand on the screen and Bobby's eyes start to sparkle looking at the picture and stumbles. “is...is...is this the heartbeat?” Wei nods her head. “Yes this is your baby's heartbeat.” Bobby stares at the screen then shakes his head. “Is this really possible?” He mutters overwhelmed form seeing and hearing the baby. Wei sighs puts away the transducer and covers Hanbins stomach again. “It is.” She turns to Bobby then changes her voice to a lot more serious voice. “Bobby-ssi, the baby is still very small but it will eventually grow taller and Hanbin will go through everything a woman would go in her pregnancy. I heard you are idols.” Wei looks at Bobby's eyes and continues. “Bobby I have to ask you this now. Since this is a rare case most men decide to abort the baby, before it grows taller and remove all female organs. The decision yet lays by the pregnant man. Bobby the risk that something could happen to Hanbin or the baby is really high. But if he decided to abort the baby he will never have the change to have children of his own in the future since his is most likely infertile.” Bobby looks at the doctor. And gets somewhat angry. “So you make me hear our baby's heartbeat, just to tell me in the next moment that Hanbin or the the baby or both will be in danger? Or that we should abort it?” Wei looks at Bobby and nods without hesitation. “It is a possibility, I have to tell you the risks in case you decide to keep the baby.” Bobby glares at Wei and then turns to Hanbin and holds on to Hanbins hand. Wei wants to say something when Bobby sounds harsh facing Hanbin. “Can I be alone with him now? I think I need some time.” Wei nods understanding and heads to the door but before she leaves she turns to Bobby. “If he wakes up, I think it will be the best for him if you explain it to him.” That said the tall doctor leaves the room and let them be alone.

Bobby clicks his tongue then turns to Hanbin. He sits down on the chair next to his bed and lowers his gaze to Hanbins stomach. Without even realising it himself he reaches out his hand and starts to caress Hanbins stomach. He lowers his face on the bed rests his on the mattress next to Hanbin. His head feels as if it is about to burst from worries.

Yunhyuk and the boys wants to go see Hanbin when Wei stops them from entering the room and tells Yunhyuk that it would be better to let Hanbin rest for now. Yunhyuk wants to know what is wrong but Wei shakes her head and tell him that if it is the time Bobby will tell him. Yunhyuk worried sick tries to convince the doctor but Wei won't change her mind. Jinhwan sounds worried. “But he is alright at least? I mean, Bobby is with him, right?” June and Donghyuk look at her while Donghyuk, Yunhyeong and Chanwoo try look for a way to sneak into Hanbins room. Wei nods her head and Yunhyuk sighs somewhat relieved. “Alright, then I think it is the best if go back to the hotel for today and let Hanbin rest.” Wei bows almost apologetic. “I am really sorry.” Yunhyuk nods then turns to the boys. Chanwoo looks at Yunhyuk and sighs. “They won't allow us to go see him right?” Yunhyuk nods his head and sighs. “Hanbin is still asleep and Bobby is by him right now. Let's go back to the hotel. You need to rest too.” They want to stay but they now they are not of much help here so they leave together with Yunhyuk without resistance.

Back in the hospital Hanbin lays on the hospital bed surrounded by machines checking and controlling his condition every second. Bobby fell asleep with his hand still on Hanbins stomach and with the other hand holding Hanbins hand tight in his palm. Hanbin slowly wakes up and moves his head when he sees Bobby sleep next to him and the strange unfamiliar room. He sits up, trying not to wake Bobby but fails. Bobby frowns and lifts his eyes half asleep but coughs when he notices that Hanbin is awake. “You are up? How do you feel? Are you alright?” Bobby sits straight and touches Hanbins stomach gentle while looks at his face worried. Hanbin frowns confused and laughs. “I am fine? Why...why am I at the hospital? What happened?” Bobby Hanbins stomach gentle then looks at him and gets up to sit on the edge of the bed. Hanbin looks at him still feeling tired. “Jiwon-Hyung? What...what is wrong? You look as if I would die?” Bobby frowns and glares almost at Hanbin. Hanbin leans his head slightly to the side and looks at Bobby. “Hyung?” Bobby doesn't know how he should start and tries to avoid the subject. He smiles and gets up from the bed. “Hanbin-ah why don't we go eat something? I bet you are hungry, ne?” Hanbin smiles confused and shakes his head. “No...I actually feel still a little strange.” Bobby immediately changes his expression form his cheerful smile to his worried face. “Do you need to throw up? Wait, I can carry you to the bathroom if you need to. Or I call the nurse...just let me....” Bobby ruffles his hair confused about what he should do and looks hectic around in the room. Hanbin gets nervous looking at Bobby and sits up to grab Bobby's hands. “Hyung? Calm down, I am fine...see I am fine, just could you tell me why I am here? I feel like someone hit me with a book. The last thing I can remember is our rehearsal and you calling my name.” He smiles somewhat embarrassed, still with no clue what is going on and looks up to Bobby. Bobby sighs and can't help but pull Hanbin into his arms and hold him tight. “I love you.” Hanbin wraps his arms automatically around Bobby's waist and smiles. “I love you too, but shouldn't we be careful, what if someone comes and sees us.” Bobby frowns then leans back and lifts Hanbins chin. “Hanbin-ah, I am sorry. I am really sorry.” Hanbin laughs confused and worried. “Hyung? Why are you apologising? What is wrong?” Bobby shuts his eyes then sits down on the chair and looks at Hanbins eyes while he holds on to his hands. “Hanbin-ah, you know that you felt sick the past days right?” Hanbin nods irritated. “Yes, probably because I caught a cold.” Bobby sighs and holds on to Hanbins hands. “It is not a cold, Hanbin-ah. I am sorry...Hanbin-ah I am so sorry that I will request the most insane and selfishly thing ever.” Hanbin gets nervous. “Jiwon-hyung? You scaring me...what are you talking about?” Bobby looks at Hanbins eyes and caresses his cheek then gets up and pics up the picture of the ultrasound and shows it to Hanbin. Hanbin takes the photo and looks at it confused. “What is this? Why are you showing me this picture?” Bobby sits down next to Hanbin and takes a deep breath. “This is the cause why you are sick. Hanbin-ah.” Hanbin frowns even more and looks at the picture. He knows those kind of pictures since the last time he saw that was when his mother was pregnant with Hanbyul. Hanbin looks at it but can't understand why this is here. “Is this Hanbyul?”Bobby shakes his head and sits next to Hanbin on the bed. “This isn't Hanbyul but...Hanbin-ah please I know this sounds confusing but please listen to me until the end, araso?” Hanbin frowns confused and looks at Bobby. Bobby take a deep breath then starts to explain everything. After he finished explaining Hanbin laughs faintly and touches his stomach himself looking around and sees all the machines stuck to him. He laughs bitter and shakes his head. “No...no...this ...this is a joke? I am a man...this isn't possible.” Hanbin panics and his body starts trembling and as if he needs more proof his stomach starts to rebel and he feels like throwing up again. He clutches his hand on his mouth and frowns trying to hold back to puke. Bobby looks around then reaches for the vomit bowl and holds underneath Hanbins chin. Hanbin throws up and coughs holding on to his stomach. Bobby pats Hanbins back and waits until he finished then puts away the bowl in the bathroom and comes back with a wet towel to wipe away Hanbins sweat. Hanbin sits on the bed and stares at the picture of their baby. Bobby comes back with the towel and wants to brush away Hanbins hair when Hanbin whispers in a hoarse voice. “Jiwon-Hyung I am scared.” Bobby stops in front of the bed and looks at Hanbin. Hanbin puts his hands on his belly and starts to it. “I am scared but ...what do I do? I am happy. Jiwon-Hyung I am happy.” He looks up and the tears run down his face like waterfalls. Bobby drops the towel and pulls Hanbin into his arms and starts to sway him gentle while he caresses his back. “I am scared too...I am hella scared, but I will do everything I can to help you...I won't let you or the baby get into danger...I have no idea what I should do but I won't let you feel scared. Never.” Hanbin grabs Bobby's shirt and trembles in his arms. “I ...I am really scared, Jiwon-Hyung...I am scared but I want to keep the baby. What should I do?” Bobby frowns and kisses Hanbins hair then leans back to see Hanbins face. “Hanbin-ah...” Hanbin looks at Bobby with wet eyes and a snivelling nose. Bobby sighs and just leans down and kisses Hanbin. Hanbin gasps and tightens his grip on Bobby's clothes and continues to cry while they press their lips on each other.

They break the kiss only when they both have to breath and then smile at each other. Hanbin laughs softly, putting his hand on his belly. “We must be stupid.” Bobby laughs and nods his head. “That's not something surprising to us.” Hanbin smirks and looks down to his stomach. “I am really pregnant right?” Bobby nods and kisses Hanbins forehead. “Mhm....you can even hear the heartbeat.” Hanbin looks at Bobby with wide and sparkling eyes. “For real?” Bobby nods and smiles. “Yes for real.” Hanbin chuckles briefly and shuts his eyes and leans against Bobby's body, suddenly feeling tired again. Bobby pats Hanbins shoulder gentle until he fals asleep again then puts him down on the bed and sits next to him watching over him until he wakes up again.
