It feels like I’ve gone back to the days before I went to live with them, before she knew me. Watching her from the sidelines. Seeing her jump higher than she did last time. Her frustration when she hits the bar. Her smiling face after clearing a new height.

Her eyes in awe after I’d easily clear it.

“Jongup-oppa, your form was perfect!” Junhee praised me as I made my way back to the bench, a kind smile creeping across my face as I watched my competitors fall short.

They raised the high jump crossbar to 157 cm and Junhee just barely hit the crossbar on all three of her attempts, but being the last girl left, it didn’t matter since she’d won.

“Hey, you did great Junhee.” I smiled at her.

She smiled back at me as she got her sweats back on. “Thanks Jongup-oppa, good luck.” Junhee gave me a fist pump before going to her other event, the long jump. The crossbar had been raised up to 160 cm for us guys to continue on.
