They were playing pretend. They always did. Acting like everything was fine, that nothing bothered them when in fact, everything was spiraling out of control in their own little world.

They were stuck, with nowhere to go but to far to look back. 

With smiles so big plastered on their faces looking so fake, they dominated the world together. Speaking with so much happiness in their voices, singing with so much passion in their performances, dancing with so much confidence and walking with so much pride.

But at the end of the day there was nothing but hunched backs of insecurity, tears streaming down silently, eyes breaking gazes out of nervousness, and hands holding the other’s in desperation.

If only they were born in a different time, if they met under different circumstances, they wouldn’t have to regret the choice they made.

But even if they stopped, they knew that they would still be craving the other.
