Epilogue Eight.
I Love You.As Jiyong came upon his driveway, he saw two figures on his lawn. He couldn't make out their faces but by their body language, he could tell that they weren't happy. Of what, he had no idea. The two figures were Bom and Minzy. As he approached, they prepared themselves to tell him about what had happened to them while he was gone. But Jiyong beat them.
"Not now," Jiyong raised a finger to hush them. "Chaerin is sleeping in the car. She's really tired. We don't need noise."
Minzy was about to protest but Bom stopped her. "We have to mind about Chaerinnie." Minzy nodded.
The four of them carried the sleeping Chaerin into Jiyong's house. (If you were a bystander witnessing the moment, you would've have thought she had been kidnapped and this was the house she was being kept hostage in. But of course, no one saw them. As far as we know.)
The bad thing was that Jiyong's mother was in his house. After Jiyong had abruptly hung up on her, she had gotten angry and made it her mission to hunt him down and knock some sense into him for talking to her the way he did.
Jiyong lightly placed Chaerin on their bed and sighed. He stared at her peaceful face, imagining what she had been through. 'Why did you do it, Chae?' He thought. There was a small knock on the door.
"Yes?" Jiyong whispered, trying not to wake Chaerin up. She stirred.
"Jiyong, you're mom wants to see you," Bom said, annoyed. She wanted to rant to Jiyong about how his mother had evaded his house. After he had gone with Harin to find Chaerin, Bom and Minzy had been peacefully at his home playing cards and drinking tea when Mrs. Kwon came about and ruined their fun. First, she talked about Jiyong and how he had never been disrepectful to her until Chaerin came. Then she talked about Chaerin and how she hated her and blah blah blah. Then finally, she talked about random things like the dog she had when she was young and how it died, then about when she first met her husband and so on,
Her ever ending talking drove the women insane as they tried everything not to tell the elderly woman to shut her trap. So, they had spent the past few hours listening to her and wanting to escape. But they didn't because if they had, who would've known what would have happened? They might've came back and the house would've been in an uproar.
"Alright," Jiyong replied as he stepped out of their room and closed the door quietly. He sighed as he saw his mother. Her face was twisted up in disgust.
"Jiyong," she said.
"Mother," Jiyong retorted.
His mother leaned forward and crossed her legs. "You." She said pointing to Minzy.
"Me?" Minzy pointed to herself.
"Of course you," Mrs. Kwon said sharply. "If it wasn't you, I wouldn't be pointing at you. Now, go and make me some tea."
Minzy's normally calm and pleasant demeanor slowly changed and her face contorted in an all - consuming anger; her nostrils flaring, her eyes flashing and closing into slits, quivering and drooling, slurring words that were unintelligible came spewing into space like a volcano releasing its pent up emotions into the darkness. Her hands closed into fists and she crouched forward. If this was what mother-in-laws did, she didn't want t
