It was as if a 1000 V electric current had shot through their bodies. A gay themed movie? The two of them? Even the idea of it seemed out of this world, no, make that out of this galaxy or maybe even the whole universe. It could probably be the beginning of Armageddon.

“Ha ha….dont ever scare us like that. Seriously it’s not funny!” Kyuhyun said.

“You…you’re kidding, right hyung?” Siwon stuttered.

“I never kid when it comes to my movies. You guys should know me better!” Jung Soo said this with a poker face that seemed to paralyze them both. Enough cowering. He was the director. He must put his foot firmly on the ground and get his point across to them.

There was a buzz in the industry that Park Jung Soo could well be called the wackiest director of all time. His wackiness could translate to his unparalleled genius mind to come up with unconventional and coming of age themes or it could also suggest some of the craziest ideas he had cooked up in the past. And much to everyone’s surprise it had always worked out well for him.

Considering his reign at the box office he wanted to challenge every other accomplished director there was and take the biggest risk of his life and that was to successfully cast two top stars together who were always at logger heads. Pushing his boundaries….Thats how Jung Soo rolled.

“Yeah right. I thought I knew you better but now I don’t anymore!” Kyuhyun said, his nostrils flaring. It was rare seeing Kyuhyun angry. This was a first for Jung Soo.

“I thought you knew us better. We both? I am sorry. There’s no ‘we’. There’s either him or me. And you had thought this through. Why couldn’t you have told me the day you came to me with that script?” Siwon demanded.

“Excuse me! He came to me first!” Kyuhyun retaliated.

“Ha ha. Really now! Who would cast that baby face for a lead role?” Siwon chided. This was starting to get ugly. Call the police! Fire service! This place is gonna blow!

“The same person who would cast your overgrown horse face! Gotta problem!?” Oh! Kyuhyun was just getting started! If these two were in the high school cafeteria, they’d probably get paraded into a food fight by a horde of teenagers’ unanimous catcalls. Fight! Fight! Fight!

Listening to his retort, Siwon’s jaw tightened. He wasn’t gonna take this lying down. Especially not with his arch enemy.

“/cough/ FYI girls die to get a glimpse of THIS face. And you! You’re not getting anywhere with that boring voice /yawn/” Oh! Not the voice! Especially when Kyuhyun’s a little touchy if anyone criticizes his voice. He’s someone who has had to climb his way to the top on his own sheer talent unlike Siwon who had his influential father backing him up in the industry. Of course Siwon was a talented actor but compared to him Kyuhyun wasn’t that privileged on that regard.

“Guys please! There’s no need to fight. Calm down!” Jung Soo tried his best to salvage the situation.

“You please stay out of this hyung!” Kyuhyun retorted at him and stood up abruptly.

“At least I have one talent other than acting. What’ve you got hotshot? None. Oh wait! There’s one.” Kyuhyun said while folding his hands as Siwon got up as well.

“Striptease. If that could even be called a talent. You’d do well in a strip club!” Kyuhyun remarked.

“ With this ‘hot bod’ how can I not? My fans expect me to flash unlike yours who pay only to fall asleep at your concerts!” Siwon was obviously gloating. He was notorious for shameless gloating but there was substance behind it. The fans always wanted a piece of him.

“Oh puh..lease.. we’re not in stone age anymore Flintstone! And for your kind information, all my concerts were ‘sell-outs’” Kyuhyun said. Jung Soo literally sank down in his couch caressing his pounding head thinking of all possible ways to prevent the inevitable. But preventing Kyuhyun and Siwon from this war was proving to be next to impossible. In fact, their animosity was so intense that it transcended as an ugly turf war between their respective fanbases. And they mean business.

“Ha! You can say whatever you like. Doesn’t change the fact that you’re ing jealous!” Siwon teased.

“Jealous? Why should I be jealous of you, you freeloader!” Kyuhyun barked back. That was the last straw for Siwon. Their war of words was about to escalate into something far worse unless Jung Soo did something about it.

“I am a freeloader!?......You..” Siwon spat as Kyuhyun interrupted.

“Ya you are. You wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for your father!” Kyuhyun’s decapacitating venomous words took Siwon by surprise. His bite was far worse than he had expected.

“Take that back you ing….” Siwon almost charged at him until Jung Soo held him back.

“Enough! Why cant you guys sort this out like mature adults?” He was at the brink of hysteria. He could see how this would turn out if these two even agreed to do his movie. Maybe his assistant was right. Maybe casting these two was the worst mistake he could ever commit.

I should have settled with Kibum and Heechul or even Minho and Kyungsoo!

“Well he started it!” Siwon shrieked.

“Tch. Yeah right. Like I don’t have anything better to do!” Kyuhyun snapped.

“NO ONE started this. It was me. It was my fault. End of discussion. Now can we please stop this for crying out loud!” Jung Soo yelled.

“I’ll stop if he says he’ll back out from this movie.” Siwon stated. There was no stopping him.

“Why should I back out? If there’s anyone who should, its you.” Kyuhyun said.

“Neither one of you is doing my movie!” Jung Soo told them. It was final. He couldn’t take this random mudslinging anymore. It was his story and like he had told his assistant earlier, he got to decide who played the lead roles.

“I thought you both are far beyond what you pose to the outside world but I guess I was wrong.” He continued. Both Kyuhyun and Siwon looked guilty. They had never seen Jung Soo this upset before and they were the sole reason behind it.

“If one of you is out then the other is out by default. To think I lost my assistant for this ! How stupid of me!” he said.

“Hyung…I…” Siwon tried pacifying him but got shot down immediately.

“No…You’re not sorry. You don’t mean it. Not until you both realize that this is your ing profession. Far from all this you both will be recognized for the roles you play tomorrow. That’s how the world will remember you! But I’m sorry that I approached you both in the first place. There are lots of actors out there who prioritize their ‘profession’ more than their personal issues, who are more deserving. And I can settle peacefully with them.” Jung Soo mellowed down although the hurt was evident in his tone.

“It was my dream to take this story onto a whole new cinematic level with the two of you on board. I guess I’ll have to settle with the second best option.” He said and hung his head low.

Kyuhyun stooped down to his level and said “Hyung! We…are sorry. /sigh/ we….I cant believe I’m saying this. We’ll try our best to work together!” He just couldn’t leave his favorite director in misery.

“Work together? Are you even listening to yourself Kyuhyun? There’s no mothering guarantee! All you two need is a slight provocation to bring the house down! I’m not gonna risk it. Not with all the money involved!” Jung Soo refused to buy it. How could he after all that’s happened this evening!

“We admit that we went a little overboard. But…” Siwon began.

“A little!? Seriously? You two were this close to setting my house on fire!” Jung Soo spat at him.

“Hyung please give us a chance. We promise we’d work it out!” Kyuhyun begged for forgiveness while Jung Soo’s eyes shuttled between him and Siwon. Siwon looked like he was choking on his breakfast. On one side was the director he was so grateful for and on the other there was the person he resented so much. Would he sacrifice his ego for the sake of his old friendship with Jung Soo that was now teetering precariously on a balance? He needed to respond fast. Damn it! Why was this so hard? Why did it have to be Cho ing Kyuhyun of all people? Why has mother nature turned her back on him?

And more importantly how could Kyuhyun portray such an amicable exterior despite the explosive spat earlier? Siwon had wanted to be a part of this dream project ever since he liked the script but all of this was happening too suddenly that he couldn’t arrive at a definitive conclusion.

“I…I need time.” He said. He just wasn’t ready!

“Time? Alright. I’ll give you time but your mind will always tell you to do one thing. Face it Siwon, you’re hardwired! Now why don’t you two leave and let me be in peace!” Jung Soo told them. Kyuhyun hadn’t thought that things would get this worse. He should have handled it more maturely but his hatred for Siwon ran deeper than any vein in his body. But that wasn’t any excuse for his brash behavior earlier. He wanted to make it alright. For Jung Soo’s sake.

Not being able to stand there, Siwon rushed out of the house but as he was about to climb into his car, Kyuhyun slid in through the other door and sat beside him.

“Wha…What the…”

“I..uh…I think that being professional actors, we shouldn’t let our differences get the better of us. And…um…I think we should do this…for Jung Soo hyung.” Kyuhyun said. And talk about a time for firsts! This was the first time Siwon had seen a totally calm and sane Kyuhyun sans his infamous sharp tongue.

“Like....Like I said I need time to think!” Siwon replied and turned away from Kyuhyun.

“What is there…/sigh/ hooo…..what is there to think about? Jung Soo hyung didn’t think twice before casting us together. Its because he thinks we both are deserving.” He said calming himself down.

“Your problem is with me! Not with him. He means a lot to both of us on a personal level.” Kyuhyun added. And Siwon was beginning to think a lot rationally. As much as he hated to admit it, Kyuhyun was being right!

“I know what you mean.” He said.

“Right. And this is strictly professional. We will go our separate ways once this movie is done with and will never cross paths.” Kyuhyun said.

“Right. You and I will be out of each other’s hair after this is over.” Siwon agreed.

“And remember we’re doing this for Jung Soo hyung so this is just a temporary truce. Got it!” Kyuhyun said.

“Yeah I think I can live with that. Only for Jung Soo hyung.” Siwon agreed and stuck his hand out for a shake. Kyuhyun’s eyes flitted from Siwon to his outstretched hand.

“This is your cue to shake hands with me and mine to apologize for badmouthing you and for us to call it even.” He added as Kyuhyun shook hands with him.

“Um..ahem..Likewise. I’m sorry for…whatever…” Their awkwardness was making them suffocate and so Kyuhyun decided that its best to get out until Siwon stopped him.

“Do you think we should tell hyung about it now?” he asked. Hello! Since when did Siwon start asking for his opinion on anything….ever!

“No I think we should leave him be for today and inform him tomorrow.” Kyuhyun said.

To this Siwon simply nodded and took off in his car as Kyuhyun looked on wondering what was in store for both of them.

You guys are so sweet…I’m telling you.

Never thought you’d like it so much!

And being nice readers as you are, I am giving you all a New Year’s present!

So Siwon and Kyuhyun have decided to set their differences aside only for Jung Soo…atleast they are ready to work together! Whew!

Only time will tell if their feelings will change for good!
