The two big names that all directors whether they were big shots or newbies, you name them, were dying to work with.

The reason…

Everyone knew the reason why…

Any movie that had either of them as leads was sure to be a blockbuster. Ladies swooned over Siwon’s looks and melted upon hearing Kyuhyun’s honey voice.

Men pined after Siwon’s chocolate abs and Kyuhyun’s fair, smooth skin.

It went without saying that both of them achieved name and fame beyond anyone’s wildest dreams in such a short time. However there was another thing that the two were known for. And that was….bitter rivalry.

Those two couldn’t stand each other. One simply would not hesitate to literally jump at the opportunity to bad mouth about the other. They avoided each other completely at social gatherings and promotional events like the plague.

And as far as bagging a lead role in a movie was concerned it was literally a cat fight between the two dashing men. If one refused a role for some unforeseen reason, the other would challenge it and accept it just to bring him down. Because they loved the feel of making each other’s lives miserable.

Park Jung Soo was a world renowned director having many commercially successful movies in his kitty. Some of them even had Siwon as the male lead while some others had Kyuhyun. Every aspiring actor found it a privilege to be working in his movie.

The director had been working on a script for quite some time and now it was finally finished. According to him, it was a brilliant script, a bit risqué but he had wanted to experiment on something which stood out from mainstream movies. It had the makings of a movie that would be remembered for years.

However the script required not one but two male leads. He had encountered a serious problem. He had to choose from an assortment of actors who are currently ruling the field. No matter how he looked at it, his gut feeling was that only two people could do justice to his character sketch. Both were equally important pivotal roles that needed actors of the highest caliber to pull it off.

“Have you lost your mind?” screeched his assistant.

“Just take a look at the script and you will see for yourself.” Jung Soo reasoned.

“No…I absolutely disagree. I can clearly see where this is gonna land us.” His assistant retorted.

“Well do you have any suggestions then?” Jung Soo asked. Before he even had a film he needed to work on, he desperately needed to pacify his assistant.

“What about Kim Kibum and Kim Heechul? Both had worked together many times in the past!” his assistant suggested.

“Already checked. Both Heechul and Kibum’s managers complained of schedule clash. They have their hands full already!” he said.

Hearing this, his assistant literally collapsed on the couch, his face buried in his hands.

“We have no choice but to go with Siwon and Kyuhyun. They both bring their A-game like no other.” Jung Soo reiterated.

“Oh they do bring their A-game alright! Every ing time they are in each other’s space!” his assistant roared, his arms flailing.

“This project is gonna shut down before its even taken off the floors! This is simply not working!” he added.

“Well in case you’ve forgotten, I am the director here. And if there’s anyone I want as my two leads its gotta be Siwon and Kyuhyun.” He said with conviction. There was a certain tone with which he would instantly shut down anyone who opposed him and his assistant found it hard to retaliate. There was a long pregnant pause.

“And do you think that either of them would agree to do it once they come to know that both are doing the movie?” His assistant did have a point. He had to do the honors of reading out the script to see if either one would like it in the first place.

“They don’t have to know. I’ll just tell them I haven’t decided on whom to cast for the other lead role.” It was a mega-risk he had decided to take. It could land him in big trouble but he was up for the challenge.

Taking a deep breath, his assistant stood up and dusted off his jeans before extending his right hand.

“I have utmost respect for you but….I would like it if you took my name off this project. You might be mentally prepared for this joy ride but I am not ready to be traumatized by those two if they even sign up for this. No use denying it because even you know that this aint gonna be a cake walk.” He said.

“/sigh/ I…I understand.” There was nothing more that he could do to make him stay since he pretty much made it clear.

“I am sorry. And I really do hope that you achieve what you desire.” He said with a tone of finality before exiting the office.

Life just got a whole lot difficult for him. But he wasn’t gonna let this little setback deter him. He immediately phoned up Siwon’s manager to arrange for a formal meeting. He needed to salvage his dream project by any means possible.

A few hours later he was sitting in a lush lounging area. Choi Siwon’s humble abode was anything but humble. It was only a testament to his illustrious lineage. His father, the great Choi Kiho himself was a superstar whose movies were still remembered. Jung Soo was impressed to say the least. The maid offered him drinks which he graciously accepted as he waited for Siwon’s arrival.

“Sorry for making you wait. You had asked for a meeting on such short notice and I was in the middle of an ad-shoot.” Siwon said. His face was immaculate, sculpted to perfection by makeup. He was wearing a dark grey track suit, his hair slicked back by styling gel. Honestly his face sans makeup wasn’t much different from his made up one making it an easy job for the stylists to groom him.

“You’re a busy man Siwon. Always a pleasure to see you giving your best.” Jung Soo said as he took out his script.

“Ooh! Finally! I have been waiting for something from you.” Siwon piqued.

“You have? Well I have been working on this one for a while. Its something far more challenging than my previous projects.” He said and handed him the script.

“Challenging, you say? Why? Is it an -thriller?” Siwon laughed as he asked leaving the director flustered.

“Siwon-ah you know a aint my cup of tea! Just read the script and tell me if you’re interested to do it.” He said.

“Alright! You’re game. I’ll take a look at it and let you know by day after tomorrow. How does that sound?” Siwon said.

“Sounds great to me. No need to rush though.” Jung Soo said and headed outside as Siwon escorted him to his car.

“Thanks for seeing me despite your schedule.” He thanked Siwon. It was universally known that the actor was a gentleman except for times when his rival’s name was mentioned.

“Oh please! I always have time for you hyung. Drive safely.”

As he drove off the parking lot, he couldn’t help but feel optimistic about it. No actor would be sane enough to pass up this opportunity. It was a gem and any actor would love to have this project up in his resume.

The next stop was Kyuhyun’s house. He had already cancelled all his appointments just to meet his favorite director. It was in fact, in one of Jung Soo’s movies that he had sung an OST for the very first time that even earned him an award. Jung Soo was someone quite close to his heart.

“Jung Soo hyung. So happy to see you.” Kyuhyun beamed from the entrance of his house.

He was wearing a black V-neck and a pair of shorts. Kyuhyun wasn’t as good looking as Siwon but good looking nonetheless. His features were softer compared to his rival and had a more feminine slant. He was known more for his lovely heavenly voice and his tremendously emotional acting in musicals and movies.

As Jung Soo dismounted from his car, he saw a petite brunette flanking him. It was Victoria Song, Kyuhyun’s current girlfriend, half-Chinese, half-Korean, dancer-extraordinaire. She was gorgeous and was every girl’s dream with her summer-tanned, toned body, lengthy brunette hair that fell in cascades and a twinkling pair of brown eyes. Add a handsome and talented boyfriend to that mixture and the result was a life every girl would crave for.

She was currently the most sought after model for almost every ramp walk and endorsement deal. She and Kyuhyun had met during the opening of an exclusive Gucci showroom and had hit it off almost instantly. Both have been in a ‘live-in’ relationship for almost a year and it was said that their parents had even consented to their engagement which was in the works.

She smiled warmly as Jung Soo greeted her. “How you doing Vic?” he asked.

“Doing fine Jung Soo oppa. Please come in.” she said and ushered him in as Kyuhyun followed.

The house was beautifully decorated. It didn’t have that palatial feel unlike Siwon’s rather it had a cute, dainty and a homely vibe to it. The visitor’s lounge opened onto a large living room that had every one of Kyuhyun’s trophies he had received so far in display. Unlike Siwon, Kyuhyun’s family wasn’t involved in the acting industry. His family had a long line of talented musicians, intellectuals and playwrights. There was absolutely no surprise whatsoever that Kyuhyun had inherited their genes.

He was a genius in Mathematics and had the highest percentile among his batch mates in Seoul National University.

“What would you have? Coffee? Tea?” Kyuhyun offered.

“Oh. Please don’t bother.” Jung Soo insisted. He was in fact perfectly sated with the lovely jasmine tea and macaroons that Siwon’s butler had offered earlier. But he cant possibly say that out loud now can he?

Sorry. I just had my fill at Siwon’s house who by the way will be your co-star in this movie. Arent you excited?

Oh yeah! That would work out perfectly! Not!

“No bother at all hyung. Vic can you bring us some of that Black Forrest cake you baked yesterday?” Kyuhyun asked as Victoria bounded into the kitchen.

“So what brings you here?” he asked Jung Soo.

Here goes nothing!

“I have with me here, a brand new script and I would like you to take a look.” He said.

“Oh jesus! This is incredible. You sure don’t disappoint hyung. What is it this time? Romance? Comedy?” Kyuhyun asked curiously.

“You’ll find out once you read it.” Jung Soo ensured him as Victoria placed a plate of delicious Black Forrest cake.

“Oh! Suspense! Normally you would narrate the story yourself.” He said.

“Yeah. This time I had planned a totally out-of-the-box concept. And I would like it if you agreed to this.” Jung Soo said.

“Out-of-the-box? I like the sound of that. When do you want an answer?” Kyuhyun asked.

“How about day after tomorrow? If you’re not busy that is!” Jung Soo enquired. Every fiber of his being was tingling with so much excitement that nothing else mattered. Not even the piece of Black Forrest enticed him.

“I can do that. So care for some lunch?” Kyuhyun asked.

“Oh! No I gotta jet. I have loads of stuff I need to take care of at the office.” Jung Soo said as he got up ready to leave.

“Oh really! Such a shame! But don’t you have your assistant to organize everything for you?” Kyuhyun enquired that made him stop at his tracks. Right! His assistant! That neurotic mother er ditched him because he didn’t wanna get his hands dirty.

“He quit. He had…issues I guess!” Jung Soo said.

“That’s too bad. Well anyway I’ll let you know once I go through the script.” Kyuhyun reassured.

“Sure. Alright then. I’ll be leaving.” Jung Soo revved up his engine and left for his office.

Now all he needed to do was wait for the day after tomorrow and everything would fall in place. Atleast he hoped it would.
