♫ AGATE'S 뇌겨울 DREAMS OF RISING HIGH. 💜
she was born to be a star, or so her annoying aunt had always believed. after all, she hadn't "funded" gyeoul this long for her to end up as a failure. however, gyeoul isn't doing this for her demanding adoptive mother. aunt, NO benefactor or anyone else for that matter but for gyeoul and noe gyeoul alone.
with just a hip movement, gyeoul is bewitching and she'll enchant the pants right off of any willing victim. she's fierce and y in her own wicked way. she is all mighty and all woman as she spins you in her web of sensuality. it is no wonder hre could not find her a fitting place amongst ursa, the procelain dolls of the company. she was much more intoxicating and daring to be just a doll.
gyeoul is considered cinnamon amongst sugar, much spicier than others but delicious with the right ingredients. but that troublesome "benefactor" of hers demanded that she train much harder and earn her rightful spot as a member amongst other trainees because she was destined to be an idol just like any other. she wasn't conventionally pretty but her looks could be worked with, especially if the company decided to use her for the right concept.
the pressure that gyeoul was beginning to feel was steadily building up which caused her to be much more hopeless about feeling jaded by hre. she tried to ignore her sorrows about being casted aside by the very people who promised to take such good care of her; yet here she was, fighting amongst others for an opportunity to shine so that perhaps they'll finally take a chance. she overdanced routines, improved her singing skills and even mastered rapping to an idol's level but it barely got her a sliver of recognition. and whenever she pointed out how much she's improved to the trainees, she was automatically seen as arrogant.
"you're good but so are others, gyeoul. you don't think we're just as upset about not being apart of ursa, as you are?"
pride, has a grip on her soul. it refuses to disappear.
yes, of course they were upset but they weren't nearly on the same level as she. gyeoul was alone; it has always been the world vs. gyeoul. when a person has worked this hard, they have every reason to be this confident, is what she wants to tell those who pity themselves but, in the end, it would be usless. they'd just peg her as an emotionless, cold-hearted anyway.
but one should tread carefully since gyeoul is the one with the treasure chest full of dirty secrets to expose. and she's never had an issue in reminding those left on the trainee roster of the leverage she has over them and if they knew what was good for them, they would steer clear of her.
greed, a sin that fuels her very core, it reminds her why she's here.
she has worked so hard for this opportunity more so than the one who slept her way into being an ursa member and she simply won't stop until she makes it to the top. not when she has an even more desperate relative counting on her success, not when she's deserted her very best friend for this chance at being an idol and not when she's made this her entire existence.
just who would she be if she wasn't an idol?
"well, just a conniving, greedy, ty , probably," she reminds herself as she stares at the broken reflection in mirror of the dressing area. the stylist was busy wounding a thick stand of hair around a curling wand with a phone pressed against her ear, far too occupied with paying her any mind.
"hey, manager hwang says you need to hurry up with her. she's up next for the solo photos," hareum--the leader of agate--announces to the stylist as he enters the room. then with that comforting smile of his, his gaze drops to gyeoul's in the mirror, reminding her of all the reasons why she should aim to be a better person, "you look really beautiful, noe gyeoul."
lust, the final nail in the coffin of friendship or the destination to happiness.
for as long as she can remember, gyeoul's main goal was to debut as an idol. since young, she had always signed up to participate in talent shows at school or made to attend dance academy afterw school three or four times out of the week. her adoptive mother never seemed to consider if gyeoul desired to do anything else but dance because gyeoul's feelings or opinions were never really all that important.
the complex of, "i'm older, i'm smarter" always seemed to rear its ugly head in gyeoul's direction whenever she would voice what's on her mind. after all, the young, incredibly self-centered twenty-something year old, ahryung only "adopted" her sister's child because there was no other living relative; ahryung didn't know the identity of gyeoul's father and gyeoul was kept in the dark just as much about her biological father. the adoption happened but it was never out of 💜 love or pity but for money because gyeoul was meant to be a star. and she was going to relieve ahryung of her staggering debt.
ahryung had known all about gyeoul's love for dancing whenever her sister ahyeon would return home to pay respects to their own deceased parents. ahyeon always bragged about her daughter, gyeoul so much that ahryung could have sworn her ears would bleed on each occasion. selfish, money-greed noe ahryung thought of her niece as nothing but an easy ticket to fortune and witnessing her niece in action at one of the many shows she participated in, solidified that idea.
ahryung was running low on inheritance and even the little bit of money that ahyeon left behind for gyeoul wasn't hers to touch, at least not legally.
she needed a way to pay off her own debts and what better way to make a profit off such talent then having a teenager with medicore confidence, audition for multiple entertainment companies?
if kim hyoyeon of girls' generation can debut with a face like that, why couldn't gyeoul?
after many failed auditions, the companies stating that gyeoul isn't exactly what they're "looking for," hre finally decided to take a chance. and ahryung saw nothing but dollar signs after that. she reminded gyeoul each day that she was doing this for the sake of her mother as ahyeon had always wanted to see her daughter "make it big" however, gyeoul had never been a gullible child. the remnants of whatever relationship an aunt and a niece could have had deteriorated ages ago but being an idol was no longer ahryung's goal but gyeoul's too. being an idol would be an escape and her chance of making a name for herself.
she would make the necessary money, give her oh-so-obnoxious aunt ahryung about 1% of the earnings and keep the rest for herself plus the inheritence due to her. because at the end of the day, she was the one risking sleep, maintaining a super restrictive diet and exhausting herself to be an idol, not ahryung and definitely not her deceased mother.
FAST FORWARD...
she pathetically watched from the sidelines as ursa became nothing more but pretty models of the entertainment industry. would that have been her fate if she had been considered "ursa material"? if she had been born considerably pretty? if she had an ivory complexion instead of the sun-kissed tone she was destined with?
gyeoul was internally gleeful that hre was becoming desperate for another girl group, while the higher ups made frequent stops into every single training practice to assess the roster of trainees left. this time, gyeoul couldn't allow herself to be tossed aside like a crumpled up, used napkin; this time, she had to be seen. but with so many pretty girls who lacked talent around, perhaps she would stick out amongst the masses if there was less competition in the way.
she began to befriend these very trainees and soon, those same ones started to confide within gyeoul. she made sure to stash secrets into a vault within the crevices of her wicked mind where she would use it for ammunition later.
the fragments of berri bell was just underway when rumors of certain trainees sleeping around began to circulate the company. a couple of the higher ups were dismissed whereas a tiny decline in trainees began. spiteful whispers penetrated the once uptight atmosphere of the competitive trianees as more secrets came about.
to appear as if she was uninvolved entirely, gyeoul found herself desperately latching onto her best friend, kim yuran who noticed the decline but made no effort to care or comment on the topic. as far as yuran was concerned, the less, the better for her chances as well. besides, with such an innocent but nonchalant aura, no one would suspect yuran to be apart of such rumors, the woman was far too cold to have any friends.

park hareum,
leader of agate.
agate wouldn't be agate if it wasn't for hareum. his diligence, kindness and persistence to keep s in line, has always been admirable and no one seems to question his status as "leader". he commands attention as soon as he appears on a stage and his voice melts the hearts of so many fan-girls and boys internationally. his sculpted body is to die for, his face, attractive, it's no wonder he's the second most popular member. you would have to be blind not to see the power this man holds.
hareum was meant to debut in re:vive being one of hre's oldest trainees but, he always declares that he prefers and "loves his agate members twenty times more."
if no one else makes agate members, i can come up with the rest. just let me know. ;-)

gyeoul remembers the moment she laid eyes on the oddly blank faced beauty with her teary expression and flushed cheeks. she had just been rejected to be an ursa member and was marching down the corridor of hre pathetically when they locked gazes. gyeoul can never forget the way anger contorted her face and how yuran furiously demanded that gyeoul stop pitying her. it was in that very exchange that gyeoul witnessed someone who was just as crestfallen as she. this wasn't pity, it was recognition. as much as gyeoul has come to love yuran and considers her to be the best friend she's never had, she simply cannot see herself risking a chance to be an agate member for the sake of yuran's feelings. if yuran didn't make it this time as a berri bell member, then gyeoul will just have to give the woman tough love until she figures out her next step in her life. just like gyeoul, yuran had been just as desperate that even fate has grown tired of two of them and decied to play a cruel trick in breaking them apart. ultimately, yuran seems to have receive the shorter end of the stick as leader to a group of young girls that she so passionately hates but that's only for gyeoul to know.
gyeoul remembers training in the shadows of the company's favorite, shion. she can recall all the times the two shared a few giggles and frustrations during practices. the times that she would work closely with shion to make sure she nailed down a move for evaluations because everyone knew shion was a weaker dancer. she was so endearing, sweet and so cheerful that it cut gyeoul even deeper when shion was chosen for ursa and not her. no one batted an eyelash, not even shion. she fit in so well with all the other pretty faces that she seemed to forget the ones she had left behind. no, they were never best friends but they did confide in one another. they shared their struggles, their ambitions only for it to end up back in gyeoul's face as images of shion began to make its way onto television screens all across the nation. gyeoul often found herself wondering what it would feel like to be in shion's shoes because if they traded now, which of the two would regret it more?

she's trained with jungyoon for such (a short or long time? don't know yet) but the only thing that the two of them have in common is their hometown and their unique surnames. ganghwa island will always be a bitter memory to gyeoul after having to leave it behind to live with her aunt; it was where she was raised for a time-being with her sweet mother, after all. she misses the cozy feeling of residing in the country-side surrounded by water and wi jungyoon reminds her so much of home. "homesick" is a term she easily associates with the younger girl. gyeoul wishes jungyoon wasn't so intimidated by her so she can tell her all about how much ganghwa has progressed or stayed constant but she could never see the two of them being actual friends. not with such a division in age and the way they carry themselves so differently. jungyoon's all sprinkles and rainbows whereas gyeoul's all fire and destruction. gyeoul would only be a horrible influence if jungyoon and her were to become cordial.

gyeoul doesn't really care for cha hyunwoo,
"oh! yeah sorry, it's noeul now, right?"
she asks sarcastically all while managing to keep herself from rolling her eyes to the freaking galaxy. whatever possessed hyunwoo to change his birth-name, beats gyeoul but whatever it is he likes to be called, she's still aggravated by his presence alone. she had never noticed him until insturctors started pushing him for a spot in the new boy-group project instead of hareum. why was hareum being overlooked again? and what was so special about this hyunwoo guy? "he tries too hard," gyeoul always thinks to herself as everyone else would coo after him whenever he would walk the halls of hre. and even now that he is her senior, he still tries too hard. shouldn't the junior (gyeoul) be trying to impress her (noeul) senior?

gyeoul really doesn't understand miyeon's problem. sure, siyeon—at debut—could have been something really special for korea to witness but pristin fell flat on their asses after a two year hiatus and then pledis cut them all short. so, what exactly did miyeon have to be jealous about? absolutely nothing if you ask gyeoul. besides, gyeoul doesn't see how miyeon made the cut for berri bell when she's as rotten to the core as an aged, moldy apple. perhaps she sees pieces of her in the younger girl, maybe she should warn miyeon to get a grip before it's too late. maybe, she will continue to mind her business because miyeon really doesn't like it when gyeoul gives her two cents anyway. besides, the older woman doesn't like anyone who assumes she uses her iness to get what she wants and she's heard miyeon talk about her in such a demeaning manner many times before.

to say gyeoul hates seri, is far-fetched but she doesn't like her either. in small ways, she has witnessed the side of seri that gyeoul tries desperately to overcome. it also doesn't help that seri—being a former actress—was the one who stole gyeoul's chance at ever becoming an ursa member in the first place. and let's not forget how much she enjoys rubbing it in gyeoul's face whenever the two pass one another in the corridors. with all the disdain for agate's main dancer hidden behind seri's lack-luster smiles whenever in her presence, gyeoul figures it is best to just ignore the older woman altogether; the two would do no good pretending to be cordial. truth be told, gyeoul thought that she had finally free from seri and her annoying ways once the older woman debuted but that all changes when she starts to develop a keen interest in hareum—her hareum—of all people in hre. hareum may notice seri's advancements but treats her just as he treats anyoneelse but it still bothers gyeoul all the more. seri literally uses her sensuality to seduce, gyeoul uses hers to perform. that's the very vast difference between them.

jeonguk is gyeoul's favorite re:vive member for many reasons, two being his charisma and the ability to dance so well; gyeoul would even admit that jeonguk may be a better dancer than herself but she'd rather keep that opinion within the realms of her mind. she also admires the fact that he works extremely hard to perfect his performances on a top-tier level with such expertise so when it was time to decide if he'd partner with anyone for a duet performance, he decided to ask gyeoul (of all people) if she would collaborate with him and she happily obliged. naturally, the two would seem like an un-like pair but truth be told, they fit rather perfectly if one ponders on it a bit.
"you're only older by a month and not even that," gyeoul reminds him for the umpteenth time as he puffs his chest out to further prove his 'point'. "stop treating me like a child, you man child!"
jeonguk is so much like the annoying older brother she never had, that even others in their presence tend to chuckle at their bickering. jeonguk acts so much like a spoiled brat that even gyeoul has to remind him of how old he actually is from time to time. surprisingly enough, jeonguk is the kind of acquaintance that she enjoys having around and despite not fully opening up to him and keeping her secrets at bay, she would choose to be in his company any day if not with hareum or [insert other male agate member].

noe ahryung, noe ahyeon.
aunt and mother of noe gyeoul.
gyeoul was the product of an extramarital affair gone completely astray when the hurt wife found out about the relationship and cut a large check for ahyeon to disappear with. ahryung never knew the full extent of the story and assumes that ahyeon had a boyfriend who didn't want to become a father and with no information, the identity of gyeoul's father has remained unknown. after ahyeon's timely death (car accident), ahryung has taken control of the reigns of parenthood and has done, at best, a very subpar job. she loves gyeoul, somewhere, deep down but her greed blinds all rational, logical thoughts and the aftermath has taken its toll on her relationship with gyeoul. as of now, they do not communicate at all and with barely any money being made, ahryung really doesn't feel the need to hold onto her naive idea of gyeoul becoming a hallyu wave star.
