Personality :

Kim Haneul is a very productive young girl. She doesn't like wasting time doing nothing and is constantly on the move. She is the type that could not sit still for more than hour without doing anything. She will fidget in her seat or just see what the other members are doing before joining them. Desperate for something to fill her time.

She is more of an outdoor person and sporty as well. If anything, Kim Haneul is active in sports. She played soccer, badminton and did archery but her favourite will always be running. She loves how fast she could go and the feel of the wind touches her face. She likes to spend her time outside, doing some activities or just simply have a walk around the park. Whenever she stays inside, she would feel stuffy, which was why she always keep her windows open.

Smart. Haneul is smart academically as well. This is because her focus is great. While in class, Haneul could pay attention to her teachers for 80% during the whole day in school without tiring her brain. She knows that not a lot of people can do this so she really appreciated and grateful for it.

Being humble is something that she had been taught she was small. Her parents were worried that Haneul would get cocky simply because she is smart so they really pressed on the moral to keep her grounded. Even when she scored first place in her year during high school, Haneul never bragged or acted smug towards her friends. Instead, she was willing to help them out with their studies.

While Haneul is really smart academically, she is lacking in critical thinking. She is so used to doing things by the book that she is unable to come up with a problem solving solution on the spot.

It's great to wanting things to be perfect but Kim Haneul takes it to the next level. It's something that she has always been struggling with. She is the one who inspired Haneul to do better in life. The first few months after the divorce was tough on both of the ladies but they got through it. Haneul knew her mother already went through so much so to see her pick herself up and move on with life by starting up a business really made Haneul feels a certain way.

Being the wife to a late successful business man has it perks. When her husband was alive, Hyeja was his backbone. She was the brain behind his investments and marketing strategies. She never wanted to take over. The only thing she wanted to do was to stay at home and enjoy her life while her husband do all the work. But that all changed when he died in his sleep one day and he placed the business in her hands through his will. Now, she let her daughter take over the family business and just enjoy her the time she got left.

HyeJa is exceptionally close to Haneul since she was small. She was fond of the girl and was impressed by how smart she was.

"Must have gotten it from me." She would claim. Another reason why she dote on Haneul was because the girl reminded her so much of her late husband. The sports that she likes, the way brought herself, the little habits. Kim Hyeja was sure that if her husband was still alive, he would dote on Haneul and spoiled her twice as much.

Life Background:

Kim Haneul thought everything was perfect. She had a loving father and a very devoted mother. But everything came crashing down when she was in high school when she caught her father cheating on her mother. Needless to say, Haneul was angry that she stormed up to the couple and confronted them. At home, she didn't speak to her father at all and her mother was clueless. She comtemplated if she should tell her mother what she saw. Deep down, Haneul knew it was the right thing to do but she was also torn by the fact that if she told her mother, this family would tear apart. She was conflicted.

Three days had passed and Haneul became more distant with her father. She couldn't even look at him in the end and pretended that he doesn't exist. When her father claimed that he was away for a business trip, Haneul took the decision to tell her mother. It was going to ruin their family but the family was already ruined by her father's breach of trust. Her mother only respond to her was to hug her and her back.

"It must have been shocking to you."
Haneul was taken aback by these words. "You know?"

"I know."

"Then why do you stay?"

Mi Kyung pulled away and carressed her daughter's cheeks softly. "Because of you. I can't take away your happiness for my own."

Upon hearing that, Haneul shook her head, tears flowing down her cheeks. "But my happiness is your happiness."

After the divorce, Haneul legally changed her name from Seo Haneul to Kim Haneul, taking up her mother's surname. The two moved out of the house and lived with Kim Hyeja, Haneul's grandmother. Initially, Kim Mi Kyung did not want to take over her family business, which was a hotel business. So far, they've opened up three chains of the hotel. One in Seoul, one in Jeju and another in Heundae-gu. But seeing how things went downhill for them, Mi Kyung took up the mantel from her mother and took over. She had several people who could assist her in the business by her side.

How you became a trainee:

One day, after school, Haneul was greeted by a young lady who was waiting for her outside of the school gate. She handed Haneul a card and asked for her phone number claiming that she was a scouting agent from a huge agency. Haneul wasn't going to fall for it so she asked, "Which agency?" But the lady refused to answer her. Suspicious of the lady, Haneul returned the card to her and walked off.

When school was over the next day, the same lady waited for her outside of the school gate. She greeted Haneul again and frankly, Haneul was a bit scared. She rather not be bothered by a stranger who claimed to be a scout from a huge agency which she refused to tell. Seemed a little- no, a lot suspicious, Haneul rejected her again.

The third time around, the lady was determined so she followed Haneul when the girl was hanging out with her friends at a cafe. Haneul started to feel really uncomfortable. She worried that the lady might know of her family background and perhaps she was a bad guy. Haneul had been very discreet with her family background because she knows her mother is a somebody so to have a stranger following her was suspicious.

When Haneul and her friends left the cafe, the lady blocked their path and bowed to Haneul as she handed the girl a card again. "Please take it!" She begged. "I really am from an agency but I cannot tell you which one."
"No hints?" One of her friends frowned.

"One of the Big 3."
Warily, Haneul took the card from her and gave out her phone number to the lady.

After that, she had never seen the lady again in front of her school and she was starting to think that perhaps, giving out her phone number might be a bad idea after all. A week had passed and nothing happened, Haneul calmed herself down and tried not to think of anything bad from time to time but that night, she received a phone call from an unknown number. The girl hesitated at first before answering. The person on the other side of the phone introduced himself as one of the admins in SME and would like her to come in for an audition.

"You're from SME? But, I don't sing, nor do I dance." She explained.

There was a brief pause from the person and Haneul could hear muffled conversations from him.

"But do come anyway, luck might be on your side." He said.

That weekend, Haneul must have been out of her mind. She stood in front of the mighty SME building. This was not her place. She was not a dancer nor can she sing well. When she got inside the building, she was led by the very same lady who scouted her into a room. In there, there were three judges and one of them was Lee Soo Man himself. She really could not believe her eyes. This wasn't a scam afterall. The old man looked at her with a smile on his face.

"What have you prepared for us today?" He asked.

Haneul cleared . "I... I sing. But usually in the shower."

One of the judges looked down to what Haneul thought was a file information about her. "It says here you sings exceptionally well?"

"Yes, in the bathroom." She tried to lift up the tension she was feeling.

The corner of Lee Soo Man's lips curved up and motioned for her to start. "Anything you're ready."

With a deep breath and no practice or voice warming up, Haneul sang. It wasn't beautiful nor was it exceptionally good but Lee Soo Man thought it can be polished and perhaps, if the right training, she might be able to debut.

Imagine her surprise when she got a text message from the company stating that she got into the trainee programme. On that very same day, Haneul sat down with both her mother and grandmother and broke the news to them. Mi kyung was surprised at her daughter's choice but Hyeja just laughed. She claimed. "Your grandfather is just as full of surprises as you." Mi Kyung asked Haneul again if this was what she wanted but Haneul just shrugged. "To be honest mother, I don't know what I want."

At the age of 15, Haneul left home for the first time and stayed in the dorm provided by the company for the trainees. She was still trying to get to used to living another girls who were just as stubborn as she was and sometimes just as intolerable. She felt small when there were other trainees who sang better than her and she wondered why was she chosen anyway? But things got better during the evaluation session. She was told by the examiners that she had gotten better and her voice was getting more and more soothing to hear.

Even though Haneul didn't debut yet, but she managed to land a few collaborations with famous kpop artists. She have also gained a stable unofficial fanbase through this. People were curious about her but had no information about her since SME never gave out any statements. She had only been featured once in the "Stay With Me" MV along with EXO's Park Chanyeol, to mark that her debut is finally coming up.

Haneul has a thing for outerwears and oversized shirts. This is what she would wear casually. Something simple and easy to put on. She loves putting on jackets or cardigans because in a way, they make feel safer than having just one piece of clothing on her. The girl doesn't have any particular liking in fashion, she just pick and choose whatever she likes and mix and match them.

As for formal clothing, Haneul prefers something that will make her look feminine or sophisticated. It doesn't have to be a dress, it can be a simple blouse for all she cares, as long as she's looking sharp and smart.

How you met?:

Kim Haneul first met him through her high school senior, Mino. They met backstage during an award show. Winner had to perform and Haneul had to perform as well but as one of the dancers from SME. Haneul and Mino caught up with each other. They weren't close during their high school years but they certainly do know each other. They switched numbers with other and promised to be in touch.

Song Mino called her one day asking if she was free. She wasn't free in the morning as she had a dance practice but she was free after lunch. Mino asked her out for lunch together with the WINNER members and introduced her formally to them. They just chit chatted on random things and was surprised to know that she had been collaborating a few artists and the fact that they actually like the songs without knowing she was singing it. Hoon asked if she wanted to switch agencies because she had been a trainee for 9 years now but Haneul said that she had a good feeling about SME and believed that she will debut. If the WINNER members felt otherwise, they didn't say anything.

From time to time, Haneul meet up with the WINNER members. They've become close and Haneul genuinely like to spend time with them. She also know P.O, another senior of hers from high school and they reconnected. She would have met the late EunBi from Ladies Code too if she was alive. EunBi and Haneul knew each other, she was Haneul's senior and had always been very kind. But she's in a better place now and Haneul prays for her. Sometimes, Mino, P.O and Haneul met up and reminisced the good memories they had with EunBi.

One day, while Haneul was waiting for the WINNER members in the YGE's cafeteria, she started to contemplate her life choices. Perhaps she made a bad decision? Maybe she wouldn't debut after all. While she was deep in her thoughts, Yoon came down and sat next to her. He tapped her shoulder and she snapped out of her daze.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked.

Haneul sighed. "I'm just wondering if I should quit and find another thing to do in life."

"After almost 10 years? Are you sure?"
"Yeah..." she paused. "Come on, I know you guys were thinking of the same thing too when I said I will debut. 9 years and a half...I don't know. Seems like a lot of time wasted, don't you think?"

Yoon didn't reply immediately. Instead he patted her head as an assurance. "If you believe that you will debut, then you will. I know you will. I don't think SME will keep their hidden gem for so long. Maybe they just haven't got the time to debut you yet or the right group?"

"You're only saying that."

"No- for real though. You've had collaborations with other artists didn't you? And SME featured you in an MV right? YG usually do that, feature their trainees in MVs and songs in a year or two before their debut. So do I believe that you will debut? Yes, I do." He poked her nose.

Thump. Thump. She swore if Yoon came any closer, he would hear her heartbeat.

Yoon and Haneul became good friends. They often talk to each other through the phone, texts whenever they could. Most of the time they would just go out for drinks, but it was never just the two of them. It was always with the other members. Haneul had found Yoon to be very endearing. Every little things he does makes her heart flutters and her stomach churns. When he smiles, she had to refrain from making a fool of herself. The two even promised to have a collaboration together one day.

Your lovers personality?:

Kang Seungyoon on stage are very different from when he is offstage. While performing, he has that particular charm that brought fans drawn to him. He walks normally but it was oozing with a swagger vibe, something that YGE idols have. He interacts with the crowd rather than just focusing on the choreography, which is another trademark of YGE idos. They know how to hype the crowd. Yoon is always having the most fun when he's on stage. He loves seeing the sea of fans holding up their WINNER lightsticks and always do his best to perform. His voice is very alluring and manly at the same time. Alluring voice and a charm that no one could resist? That's the perfect combination right there.

But offstage? He's just a simple guy that loves travelling. He can uphold a conversation in English eventhough he's not very good at it but he's never embarassed about it. To Yoon, it's part of the learnin process. Most of the time, Yoon is quiet and he usually takes the responsibility for his group, being the leader of WINNER and also the maknae. Seungyoon is mature guy but when he's with his friends, he can be really childish. Who wouldn't? He thinks about others a lot and what he could do to make things better or help to ease another one's burden. Though he doesn't really show it, Seungyoon thinks a lot of about a lot of things. Therefore whenever they appear on variety shows, Seungyoon always watch what he says and his sense of focusing is really great.

Seungyoon is a risk taker as well. He would jump head first before testing the water. This side of him contradicts his personality as a thinker. But to him, there are just time when he need to do first and think later and if it doesn't work out how he planned, then he'll come up with another solution. In other words, his critical thinking is very good. Which is how he decided to compose their hit single 'Really Really'.

Being a leader meaning that he has to take care of s. One of his way was being generous. He treats the members a lot, it's the virture of being a leader. He has that sense of responsibility that he upholds.

Seungyoon is quick tempered. He gets angry easily but he doesn't scold or raise his voice. It just shows on his face wether he's annoyed or irritated or angry. This is something that the WINNER members have pointed out. Even in his anger, Seungyoon refrained himself from cussing at the other person and just walked off. His anger usually subsided after a day.

Nagging is something that he developed by being a leader. It's not that he likes nagging but it was necessary. Also, in a way, it helps him not to get angry quickly sometimes.

Even though Seungyoon might be the mature one in the group, he can very petty when he wants to and when he does, he really do it properly. He once got angry at a few other trainees during his trainee years and bought them cokes that he had shaken up really bad. He even offered to buy food for those who had angered him and put in a lot chilli peppers in their food. He rarely goes down that road but when he does, he makes sure to make it worth while.

How did you guys meet? :

When the news about a girl who rejected the offer to debut only after two years of trainig broke out, Haneul was furious. She had been a trainee for a longer time and never got the chance to debut yet. So when this girl was offered the chance and she rejected it, Haneul thought the trainee was rather ungrateful. She would have jumped at the opportunity.

Out of curiousity just like everyone else, she made a point to find out which girl was insane enough to do such a thing. It was during lunch hour that the cafeteria started to buzz with trainess and idols. Everyone was talking about the girl who rejected the offer and the moment Eunrin stepped into the cafe, Haneul's trainee friend nudged her and pointed at Eunrin subtly with her chopsticks.

"That's her, Won Eunrin. Heard she rejected the offer to debut."

"She's the one?" Haneul hissed in disbelief.

Sure enough Eunrin was pretty and Haneul had seen her performing during their monthly assessment, it was a no wonder that Eunrin was offered to debut. But why would she rejected it though?

That night, after practing her vocals, Haneul decided to confront Eunrin and made her change her mind. She wanted to tell Eunrin to take up the chance and debut. Not to let this golden ticket slide just like that. When she arrived at Eunrin's dance studio, she stopped on her tracks when she saw the girl was sititng on the floor facing Lay from EXO. It seemed like they were having a deep conversation. Haneul contemplated if she should walk in or not. She wasn't sure.

And then, she overheard.

"So why wouldn't you take up the chance to debut?" Lay asked.

There was a brief pause before Eunrin's voice was heard. "I'm not ready yet. It's a great opportunity and I know it's stupid to let it go. But I'm lacking in so many things. I can't dance, I can't rap, my vocals are still not stable. The Red Velvet girls are great, amazing, but... I don't feel connected to them. If I debut, I want it to be with the people that I can genuinely feel connected with and not feel like an outcast."

Haneul softened at her answer.

"I know people say that friendships can be build later but... They've been together for too long that it's impossible for anyone else to slip into their group." Eunrin continued. "So that's that. I've known a few girls I've come to like. There's one in particular. She's a senior here but younger than I am. I just really like her voice and personally, I think our voices would harmonize perfectly."

Not wanting to intrude the personal talks, Haneul walked away.

The next three days was a bit hectic for Haneul. She had been busy training with others for one of the idols' promotion and she was put on the backup dancer team. That means, Haneul would perform on stage too. She wouldn't be in the spotlight but at least, she got to perform on stage. That was all that matters.

"Haneul! Someone's looking for you!" One of the dancers called.

"Who?"

"I don't know. Your friend maybe?"

What friends? Jaerin? But then again, her other friends were having rapping training session right now. She wondered who it was. Haneu strode out of the studio only to see Eunrin greeted her with a huge smile on her face.

"Hello!"

"H-hello?"

"I don't think we've met before, I mean, we have but we're not properly introduced."

True. They've met before, multiple times during the monthly assessment.

"Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Ah, yes." Eunrin clapped her hands once. "I have to find a duet partner for my next vocal class, it's part of the assessment. I was thinking if you could be mine?"

Haneul did not expect that at all. "I know we don't know each other but it's just that, I've been watching you singing and I really am in love with your voice. i just thought that your voice and mind could blend perfectly without outshining each other. It's perfectly fine if you don't want to but it'll be great if you want to collaborate on this." Eunrin assured her in one breath.

"So.. any song you have in mind?" Haneul asked.

With that, she earned a huge smile and a big hug from Eunrin. Maybe Eunrin wasn't so bad after all. Maybe she could click with this girl and maybe, just maybe it's with her that she meant to debut with.

Your best friends personality?:

It's very hard to see Eunrin frowns. Most of the time, the girl radiates good vibes and one smile from her could make your day. Eunrin is very optimistic and tends to look on the bright side. Some might refer her as to being naive but Haneul knew better. Eunrin just doesn't like to see the negative things in life. The girl acknowledges it but doesn't let it affect her life.

One thing that Haneul likes about Eunrin is that she never pester anyone and can keep a secret. Eunrin never forces anyone to tell her their secret but because of her friendly demeanor and gentle smiles, people are tend to confide in her. They love having a one on one talk with the girl and some even let her know their biggest secret because they trust her. She is also the type that doesn't leak out people's personal life. If she found out about something accidentally, she doesn't gossip about it or poke her nose in places she shouldn't.

The girl can be a bit mischeivous and she pull pranks from time to time. Her jokes are really lame though but Haneul always fake laugh it and forced the other members to laugh as well because she feels like she has to protect Eunrin.

But Eunrin can be tiring as well. She tends to overthink even the little trivial things. Haneul sometimes doesn't know what to do or to say anymore to assure her friend that things will be fine. It's nothing that she has control over. Even Eunrin herself doesn't like to overthink but things just come flooding her mind without a warning and when she wanted to stop, she had to distract herself. Unfortunately for her, even if she tried distracting her thoughts, it rarely works.

Won Eunrin even when she is observant, she can be very careless and clumsy and unaware of her surroundings. Especially when she's bothered by something. When something was on her mind, something that worries her, whatever you say will not be heard.

- It's hard for people to actually understand EunRin because she always hide her true feelings. If she's sad, she won't say she's sad. She'll just act as normal. Most of the time, she'll just brush it off but when it's something that really upsets her, EunRin would still keep quiet about it instead of talking it out. But when it comes to confrontation, EunRin makes sure to not say anything more than she needed to even if she has a lot to say.
