intelligent: though she's young soojoo is very smart. she was top of her class and still was during training too. she's practical so she likes to make sense of things and can understand things that most people her age will overlook or not get. she's not as naive as she seems and is actually quite mature for her age.

soojoo came from a wealthy family, her dad is a member of the national assembly for cheongju and her mom is the vice president of cheongju university. because of her wealth she was expected to be well behaved all the time. her parents were very strict and were very serious on enforcing house rules. they expected her to respond formally to them at all times, she also had to attend lessons and tutoring everyday and dress neatly. she never really had the chance to go wild and be a kid. she was so accustomed to being an obedient child that she barely had friends growing up. her parents saw her as an extension of them so she always had to be on her best behavior, if not it'll make them look bad.
it was her mom that helped her discover kpop because she got tickets to cheongju university's festival every year. it was 2015 and also soojoo's first time going and seventeen was the main act of the festival. she loved how much fun it looked like they were having and how close they seemed to each other. after that performance she became a carat. her parents were very strict on studying so around them she didn't show any interest in kpop but in her room she was learning dances and singing quietly. she opened an instagram account to post covers that she filmed in her room and pictures of her biases. she only had a small amount of following but it was nice seeing the supportive messages and having a little community where people had the same interest as her. she did it all for fun until she got a dm from mmg entertainment and skipped school to audition for them in 2018.

CONECTION TO THE KPOP INDUSTRY
when soojoo first joined as a trainee, the other trainees didnt expect a lot from her because she was young and shy. she didnt talk to anyone and when they tried she was so awkward. she prefered to practice on her own and never stepped out of line. but during the monthly evaluation the shy soojoo everyone knew was no more, she completely changed into a different person that was so charismatic. she got a bunch of attention and secret haters after that but she still didn't come out of her shell. even the staff found it interesting how a 12 year old with only ballet experience can have so much charisma on stage but she so different offstage. and still go to school and be the top of her class. early on whe ultraviolet was just an idea, soojoo was one of the first trainees they considered to debut despite her young age.
