observant: when binni walks in a room she can immediately pick up on peoples vibe and figure out the dynamics without even knowing them. she can tell when peoples mood changes even suddenly but she doesn’t act like it. instead of being the leader she prefers to sit on the sidelines and pick up on the subtle things. it helped her to have a really good memory and remember random things about peoples mannerisms and what they say.

binni's relationship with her dad wasn't always bad. it was good until her mom passed away when she was 7. her mom died in a car crash that could've been prevented if he wasn't tipsy that night. binni wasn't hurt because she was at her grandma's place but her dad walks with a limp now. to deal with the pain of his injury and practically killing his wife he started drinking heavily everyday. he couldn't get work either so they were living off binni's grandma who wasn't doing much better herself. everytime he looked at binni when he was drunk he got mad for many reasons but mostly because she was the exact image of her mother. her grandma tried to protect her from the abuse. but there wasonly so much she ciuld do. she was still trting to convince herself that her son wasn't the monster he really was.
as she grew up her grandma would warn her not to come home when her dad was really drunk so she didn't have to get hit. instead she'd sleep at a friends place or the sauna. but none of her friends knew what she was going through, she kept it all to herself. instead she wrote poems to express her frustrations. binni got into rap music in 2015 after watching unpretty rapstar. she fell for jessi and how unapologetic she was. she thought she was cool and wanted to be like that so she would turn her poems into verses. her dad hated hearing her rap, everytime he heard any kind of music he screamed at her to shut up and told her she'll never make it. all she could do was clench her first and later that year she auditioned for show me the money season 4 to prove him wrong.

ELABORATION
binni was 14 when she auditioned for smtm4, the youngest contestant that season. she didn't expect to make it past the prelims but she somehow did despite only a few months of rapping. when she told her dad she was auditioning he said they'll all just laugh at her and she'll look pathetic. but. she paid him no mind and went anyways. she took the bus to seoul and really looked out of place standing in line in her school uniform. she auditioned for zico and rapped her self written lyrics as confidently as an awkward 14 year old could. zico smirked and some other contestants watching around her were chuckling and mumbling to themselves. he bowed slightly, said thank you, then moved on to the next person. like that her dreams were crushed. no explaination, no advice, just a thank you. in binni's teen brain it felt like everyone was laughing in her face and giving her judgmental looks when she left. it was traumatizing. to make it worse the first thing her dad said when she got home was, they all laughed right?
binni almost gave up rapping all together but when she stopped she realized it was the only thing that made her happy. so for the next six months she worked hard to perfect her raps and write better lyrics so when the next competition show came she'll kill it and that happened to be produce 101. binni joined produce 101 determined and ready to show what she got but when she stepped on stage to audition, all she heard was her dad saying everyone will laugh and she imagined the judges and all the trainees laughing at her. she stiffened up and messed up her lyrics numerous times getting her to rank F. her time on the show was short lived, she got eliminated in episode 8 with only 24,000 votes at rank 72. online she was known as the girl that kept messing up, people cursed at her online and said she's a waste of screen time. every stage she somehow messed up, the pressure she put on herself and the competition was too much for her. she had amazing lyrics but she was never able to show them because of her slip ups.
binni was scared to go back home, once again she proved her dad right and was ready to quit her dream of being a rapper again. but at the perfect timing mmg contacted her to join them as a trainee. binni didn't feel that she deserved to be a trainee and neither did the other trainees there. they worked hard to audition but she was accepted when all she did on produce 101 was mess up. because of that training was a lonely time and she didn't fit in with the girls so she befriended boys instead. they were more chill but didn't take her rapping seriously as a rapper since she was a girl. during that time binni questioned her pronouns because she wished she didnt want to be seen as a girl so she could be taken seriously but that also didn't mean she wanted to identify as a boy. so that's when she decided she wanted to be called they/them. in a country like Korea people still didn't respect her pronouns so she decided to go by ryubin which is more of a gender neutral name than binni.
while training binni was never able to overcome her stage fright. her hands visibly shook while she rapped during evaluations, there were many times she got yelled at for still being that way after months, threatening to kick her out if she doesn't get over it. even her singing and dancing were lacking, if trainees were ranked she was one of the lowest. the whole time she was training she never rapped anny of her own songs that came from her heart, she didn't stop writing but she didn't want to get criticized for it.
it wasn't until 2018 did she really start to improve, she befriended koi who helped her become friends with maria too. slowly she started opening up to them and actually practiced with other people instead of alone who gave her feedback and made it fun. they became a trio and the way binni performed with them vs without them was completely different. she didn't mess up with them and looked like she nejoyed the performance but without them she looked tense and disconnected. when ultraviolet was announced she didn't think she would make it because there were so many better rappers than her but even the staff couldn't deny the strong bond that the girls that brought the best out of each other.
binni's stagefright is a lot more subdued now. now that she debuted she still gets shaky before but with her member she's so much stronger. even though their fanbase is small and there aren't many lightsticks supporting them when they're on stage, her members help her not worry about all that and to just enjoy the stage because its her dream. she's terrified to go in produce angel and be separated from them because she's afraid she'll go back to the scared binni that couldn't get through a performance without messing up.
