Yesterday I wrote a blog post about my most played K-pop songs of 2014... so now I‘m going to finish this by posting my most played K-pop groups of 2014, even though I doubt anyone is interested lol...

 

I‘ll sum up the total playcount for groups and solos of the members in that group (also if the group has broken up). Only exception is Jay Park’s solo, which I count separately, so he‘s not included in the 2PM numbers...

My Most Played K-pop Groups/Artists of 2014:

1. 2PM - 8577

2PM songs count for something like 40% of everything I listen to, and music is my main mood stabilizer, so I’m not joking when I say I get an anxiety attack if anyone mentions the army. No I don’t know what I will do. *tries-hard-not-to-think-about-it*

But yeah, they are my babies and I love them… And as much as I love their awesome personalities, gorgeous faces and heart-attack-worthy bodies… It was their music that made me fall in love with them.

2. TVXQ/JYJ - 2783

If anyone read my list of most played song, it should not come as a surprise that TVXQ/JYJ is my second favorite K-pop group… and has been since 2011… and I don’t really see that changing. Seriously in love with all 5 of them.

3. Beast - 1135

One thing that Beast has similar to TVXQ/JYJ is that they have very unique voices. And I love that and all of their voices so damn much, and their music is just so damn good. Also, Junhyung is (in my opinion) one of the best rappers of K-pop… and a very unique one. So yeah, love all of them, but I’m Yoseob biased… most of the time at least, though look-wise, I find Junhyung to be hottest, and Doojoon is like Mr. Korea, so damn perfect looking it’s almost too much…

4. SHINee - 1125

Yeah, I love SHINee, a lot… I’m seriously Onew biased and love his voice, plus he’s gorgeous, and in like top2 of my list of hottest (non-2PM) Korean men (Jung Yunho would be the other one on that list).

Both Onew’s and Jonghyun’s voices are very unique and shape the sound that is shinee… but I also love Taemin’s and Minho’s singing, because as a rule I prefer “soft” voices over the power-ballad ones, and sometimes imperfection is the biggest perfection (yes I’m talking about you Hwang Chansung)… And then Key with all his sass is just impossible not to love… So yeah, love them, and especially their 2013 albums, they were great. At the moment I’m in love with their 365.

5. Wonder Girls - 1018

Most of this is just Yenny and her Amazingly Breathtakingly Awesome album (did I mention I was in love with it?). Honestly, I haven’t listened that much to Wonder Girls, definitely not enough to call myself Wonderful, but my favorite songs from them are all written by Yenny or JYP… So yeah, after this album, I’m more than a little bit in love with Yenny, and I think she’s one of the biggest talents in K-pop.

6. Epik High - 408

I’ve only listened to like, half of their album, but what I’ve listened to is great. And I’ve said this before, but I think Tablo’s talent cannot be overrated… And though I do like Epik High as a whole, I’m probably more of a Tablo fan than fan of the group per sei…

7. SS501 - 329

I really like all of their voices.

8. Big Bang - 301

This playcount is little unfair, because 127 of the playcount for Epik High, includes Taeyang, so maybe that should be counted here as well… but.. oh well..

I’m on BigBang hiatus, so this is mainly just Taeyang’s Eyes, Nose, Lips, and Seungri’s solo from 2013 (the whole album was seriously amazing).

9. B.A.P. - 282

B.A.P is probably my favorite post-2011 K-pop group… And I thought their January album was really good (or was it February? Either way, it was good).

10. CNblue - 264

This group is one of the groups I’ve listened to most evenly. It’s played like 150-300 times every year since 2010… So yeah, although I’m not a diehard fan, I like most of their songs, so they rank in like top15 of my favorite K-pop groups.

11. Boyfriend - 246

I have a soft spot for this group, because the B-single of their debut is one of my favorite songs from a debut group ever. And I thought they had a good year in 2014, and this MV over here I think is great, and one of my favorite MVs of the year. And no, it does not hurt that their Onew look-alike is growing up Hot (shoot-me-I’m-shallow).

12. Got7 - 216

I’m not sure about them yet. I really am not. Feel a bit like I should love them more than I do. But I’m still waiting for that song that makes me really fall head over heels. Maybe if they do a JYP song… I don’t know… maybe…

I do have a bias at the moment though, and it’s Youngjae … Why? I don’t know… he just is. And my fav GOT7 song is this one here, though I think it would have fitted them better to sing it later, when they are all in their early 20s, considering the lyrics and all.

Since they are like the 12^th most played group of the year, I obviously do like them… but let’s see.

 

 

 

 

Oh, and in case you’re interested (and even if you’re not), I’m also going to post my all time most played K-pop groups… It goes back to 2010, though I didn’t start seriously in K-pop until January 2011.

Well, obviously I’m a Hottest first, Cassie second, and I would also call myself a Shawol and a Beauty. However, I don’t think I would call myself a VIP…

I obviously do love BigBang, otherwise I would have listened to them over 5000 times... But although I love all 5 of them I tend to like their solos more than official Big Bang songs…

And although they have some of my all time favorite K-pop songs, they also have my least favorites. So yeah, while Fantastic Baby is my least favorite song in the universe, I’m probably the only girl in the world that counts this song here as my favorite Big Bang song (excluding solos)… 

And yeah… most of their recent stuff… I just can’t… Really wish I could… But I can’t to the level that I’ve developed a BigBang phobia… so yeah, they are on an indefinite hiatus… and I don’t know if I can ever listen to them again.

But I do love them though, and still count them as my top5 most favorite K-pop groups, which btw have not changed since mid-2011, and most probably never will…

 

Although I’m not especially enthusiastic about SS501, and don’t really have a bias, whenever I add a song from them, I end up playing it a lot, their voices are just very soothing, fit nicely together, and easy to listen to, and they do have some very good songs. This song here (corny-alert) is my favorite one.

 

U-Kiss and Se7en, I’ve liked more or less since I started K-pop… But Miss A and Wonder Girls’ Yenny are the groups that have managed to sweep me the most off my feet after 2011 (apart from the groups I was already in love with by then)… I don’t really listen to a lot of girl groups, but make exceptions for JYP girls… and rarely regret it.

P.S. If you were wondering why I sum the groups and solos together, it’s because, otherwise, we’ll just get a lot of different 2PM and TVXQ subgroups and not much else.. But if I separate into solos and sideprojects, my list looks something like this:
