My thoughts: Stellar's Marionette / y concept rant

I'm a month late but I felt like it was finally time for me to watch this MV. 22,000 likes v.s. 24,000 dislikes?? My curiosity won me over. I had to see what all the ranting and raving was about.

Overrated...

Overrated in the sense of iness, I mean. With all those dislikes and complaints I was expecting way worst. In my opinion it wasn't even that bad. It's "iness" looked more sensual to me. It wasn't the in your face-awkwardly overed-grinding and rubbing concept I was assuming this to be like.

I actually like the song. The lyrics as you can see aren't dirty or inappropiate. They are singing about being controlled in a relationship. How they want to move on, but keep going back. The song or the lyrics weren't the controversy though.

It was the dancing and clothes right??

This might be my ualized Western mind speaking but it wasn't even that y. The dancing was respectable for the most part. Excluding that awkward rub. That move wasn't really needed. But other than that I liked the choreography. It wasn't boring like a few other y concepts I've been. I really like the hip swivel they did at the beginning and then dropping down to bounce up and down. Very smooth~ The dance wasn't even that suggestive. They was no  or crotch grabbing. No grinding or ing. So what's the problem here??

The clothes??

They were wearing leotards. They've been around since forever. What's the big deal? I've seen girl groups do cute concepts with less clothes on than Stellar. Asia likes legs. They showed leg. I don't understand what's all the fuss.

The only thing I absolutely didn't like was the plot. I think they were trying to hard to convey a y mood. The milk running down her body... The pink bottles in the fridge... Maybe ithe scenes had a hidden message. But the song was strong enough to have a Gain storyline. They should've did something like Fxxk U to symbolize the real meaning of the song. Mixed the the choro it would've been Daebak!! XD

Was it worth all the dislikes?? Hell no.

People were going crazy saying they are sick of y concepts and that they miss the old Kpop. I think all that is b.s.

I, on the other hand, like y concepts. If it's done respectfully than I enjoy them. I like to see groups try out different stuff. It makes them more dynamic. No one wants to see a group do cutesy time after time. Some were saying this was done to gain attention and popularity. Not every group that does a y concept wants attention and popularity. Maybe their company wanted to do it, just because.

I started listening to Kpop because it was purer and cleaner than Western music?? That's a sorry explaination for why you like Kpop.  You should like Korean music because of its catchy songs, dances, and lyrics not because it's better than American music. And not all Kpop songs are clean and pure just as not all American songs aren't dirty and profane. I believe groups should be able to do whatever they want without getting hated on.

I don't want to sound like a hypocrite now. I've seen some y concepts I didn't like. But I've also seen some cute concepts I didn't like as well. Kpop sound have a balance. There shound be all types of different concepts and styles. Something for everyone~ What I hope doesn't happen is all the groups turn y because they think that's what sales or groups watering down their style because petty extremists can't handle it.

Uhh, so I was just looking through blogs and I came across this. I thought I'd just comment my opinions.

Tbh, if you ask me, I don't think the MV was that y or anything. Sure, it was awkward with all that milk and everything but so what? The song was awesome and I don't get why people are judging them just because of the MV. I'm not Korean, I don't understand the lyrics but I'm pretty sure it wasn't ual or anything. People need to lay off them, man. They're just trying to produce good music for us -.-

So yep, that's what I think.

Nothing bugs me more then when KPop fans say they like KPop because it's 'purer' then American music *scoffs*. I have nothing wrong with y concepts personally, as long as they aren't over doing it then what's the problem? To be fair KPop has never been exactly the epitome of 'innocence' at all though that's just how I feel. Ah well. Haters are going to hate I suppose ^^; I just hope some KPop fans stop bashing any group that does a y concept, like you said maybe their company wanted them to do it and they don't have a choice. Most of the time, that is the case.
