cha cha beat boy is a nickname that derived from her love of k-hip hop that's prevalent in a lot of her music playlists and inspiration. in particular, aomg coined the phrase "cha cha beat boy" in their songs and her friends were quick to coin the popular phrase to danbi because of her last name. some people even say it as a way to greet her when they meet.

ssenunni, meaning a tough sister with a strong personality, it came from the fact she frequently gets paired to the original ssenunni jessi because of her strong presence on stage and in the practice room. she was first linked to this title back in jyp when the song first came out as a way to describe her overall presence and as a way to when new trainees would come. this nickname followed her to cygnus and even into idyll with fans. although it has a somewhat negative connotation, danbi likes the title and it's always balanced out by her cute side that sometimes comes out while drunk or with her members/friends. another nickname related to his notion is trouble-maker.

bambi just sounded like her name "danbi". the nickname soon became the of alcoholic jokes because, as mentioned, danbi becomes cute and charming when she's far into her alcohol.

danbi became the guinea pig for stylists as she doesn't necessarily care for how she looks for stages and events. she's always subject to hair dye, with the only time without it being her trainee and debut years (up until late-2018/early-2019), and flashy makeup to match. she stands out in the group because of this and, as much as she likes the attention for it, she would like to go natural in the future as both her and fans are worried for her hair and skin. her hair is usually kept down in what-ever style her stylists come up with.
outside of promotions and schedules, danbi's lazy. she opts out of using makeup to give her skin a break and only applies sunscreen and tinted lipbalm. she has acne and acne scars, but she isn't really fazed by it when she goes out because, of course, it's her skin. she sports bedhead on days where she'll just stay in the dorm, but will prefer it tied up in a high ponytail or bun for practices.
STYLE
a mix of dark and light colors, though it's usually dark colors like black and blue. she usually sports the athleisure and grunge style, sporting jewelry, belts, hats and masks basically everyday the stylists aren't there. danbi does prioritize comfort over aesthetic, and she'll always keep her outfits as minimal as possible since she doesn't want to be an eyesore with her already bright-colored hair and bold makeup. it's safe to compare her style to bts's jeongguk and yoongi.
when the stylists are in charge, again, danbi's the guinea pig, but they do consider her taste when giving her clothes (since no one wants a repeat of the infamous style-danbi fight where danbi threw her outfit in the trash because she hated it and the stylist had to form a backup outfit in less than an hour). so, they always try to dress danbi in her usual style, but going all out with accessories, which she doesn't mind.

danbi's a ball of energy and enjoys being in the company of others for the most part. she feeds off of everyone's energy and the aura of the whole situation and, whether you're happy or sad, danbi will show a side of her that equally matches you in a way that makes you feel comfortable or better about yourself. it's just something about danbi's openness and confidence in everything that manages to bring about a smile to your face or even happy tears in your worst situations that you'll be thankful for having danbi around. however, she still has her moments where she openly chooses to be away from everyone in the studio working until sunrise, simply because she needs time to reset her feelings and align herself to be better the next day. admittedly, danbi has a cap on her energy and can only be this happy-go-lucky girl around everyone for so long, and she's always stuck in her thoughts at the end of the day that only bring her mood down despite how sociable she was that afternoon. so, she's always working at night or spending time with her closest friends (whether that be a close trainee friend she's told everything about or one of her members she wholeheartedly trusts) to talk about her life and well-being. but, even if she's talking about it with others, danbi will always find a way to be alone working and think about everything that went wrong up until that point.
as much as danbi will let you talk to her and she'll listen, the advice she gives is always brutally honest, no matter if it hurts you or not. her best advice, that majority of her friends and members can agree on, is always of the things she's passionate about: dance and music. if you want an honest opinion on your moves or she feels like something can be fixed in a song, she'll give you some brutally honest opinions and will keep pushing your buttons until she likes the outcome. she's not afraid of telling you things as it is and, whether you like it or not, danbi isn't one to really care how you see her words. all she cares about is whether you're able to do it correctly and the outcome is top-tier because, to danbi, if you're not perfect and you make mistakes, it reflects poorly on everyone else. besides, danbi cares about her craft and her creative ideas that she has a set thought about and, if it won't be polished and shown perfectly, she admittedly won't be happy about it.
when it comes to danbi, she can be rough around the edges sometimes, and that's all because she lives for herself and only herself. she makes her own decisions and follows her own ideals that people will either react negatively about or in admiration that she can even focus on herself with everything going on. she focuses on her wants and needs before anyone else and all her choices are based on her own impulsive decisions that can end up in getting her in trouble with her members and higher-ups. however, she's doing everything with good intentions that benefits her own morals and passions, and that can be something admirable to those around her: that she's outspoken and never bothers with whether you agree with her or not. but, even then, she cares how she puts herself out there. as mentioned, her wants of making everything perfect will always set her back in life and work because she wants just that: she wants people to see a perfect side of her and the group when it comes to their music and talents and, if that means rebelling and pushing herself more than needed, she's willing to do that.

danbi is, to put it in better words, a character. she has her times of positivity and pure affection towards those around her, but she won't hesitate to call someone out when they need a wake-up call or towards perfecting her crafts. she's someone that you'll either love or hate, and whatever you feel about her, not a day goes by where you'll be wondering where she is or how she's doing. after all, she's good at leaving first impressions.

"why do you want to become a dancer? it won't pay well," is what rang in danbi's ear ever since she was young. the voice of her mother and father screaming and pleading for her to stop spending their money to attend dance workshops with her friends is loud and rather annoying to her.
sweating and panting, danbi dropped to the ground, the blaring music of her playlist mixing with the blaring words of her estranged parents filing her thoughts. she was tired, not because of long hours of practicing, but the constant battle that, possibly, her parents were right. she didn't care about money like her parents, but what if dancing wasn't where she belonged? what if pursuing this hobby wasn't the path for her?
"you'll never make it big as a dancer."
"dancing? of all paths to take? please, danbi, you're better than that."
"rethink this. it might just be a phase."
"you're not our daughter. get out!"
danbi stares at the ceiling, he breath heavy and sweat dripping onto the bare floor below her. she started to think about the years she spent training and how much pain and trauma she's gone through.
was it worth it? was the stress and pain worth this dream of hers that her parents will never accept? what would it be like if she did something else? what if she did what her parents wanted? would life had been better for her?
she sits up, grabbing her water with a shaky hand and taking a long and strangely painful gulp. her face felt red and, at that point, danbi can't tell if she was simply sweating or crying. either one wouldn't be a surprise for her.
she looks at the clock above the mirror. 2am. she's been in the now hot room for five hours already. that isn't a surprise for her either.
as she always does, she shakes off the thoughts of her parents and keeps at training. the most she could do right now is perfect the dance and work on her rap. besides, maybe if she shows herself as perfect and well during her debut, maybe her parents will be happy for their daughter.

danbi was born an only child to a father who was the president of a university and a mother who was an english teacher at a local elementary school. since a young age, she was always a troublemaker and got into a number of verbal altercations but was well-liked in school for being one of the popular kids. she quickly found a group of people she befriended, who were also rather popular, who did dance. through this group of friends, she ended up falling in love with dance, joining them to dance workshops and some dance competitions their school would host. the more she danced with them, the more she felt comfortable on stage and performing. you could say that, from an early age, danbi always wanted to be a dancer.
2008 TO 2010.

when danbi told her parents she wanted to become a dancer, her parents were not supportive and continued to degrade her for wanting to dance because it's not a "stable career". they kept telling her to change career paths or that it was a phase since she was still young. however, she kept pursuing dance and, evidently, it showed in her school reports and constant phone calls from her school. fed up with danbi's constant plea of going into dance, they forced her to live with her relatives who, in turn, were more supportive of danbi. thus, she ended up moving in with her relatives, who quickly pushed her to her eldest cousin who supported and brought her to audition after audition. after passing a number of auditions, danbi signed an exclusive trainee contract with ts, who seemingly fit her image more than the others.

she fell in love with rap after seeing rap-focused trainees at ts, along with high school friends she grew close with, and wanted to do the same because she thought it was cool. of course, she was pretty bad at first but, because her tone is already so strong and held a rather strong presence, rapping came naturally to her and was increasingly getting better. this kind of angered other trainees who worked longer than her in rap, but many complimented her over the fact that she's gifted in everything she did and tried.

she became ts's gem and was always praised by her trainers and ceo himself. her rapping got better and her dancing saw more improvement, even leading to her choreographing her own routines for evaluations and fun. everyone loved her, but also hated the fact she was perfect at everything she did. but with all the love and attention she received, came a lot of issues and stress.
in early 2014, one of her trainers was evidently becoming a little more intimate than danbi wanted. she was always complimented by her trainer, which started very normal but started to get weird ("danbi, you're so pretty today!" "wow, that's a great outfit; you look comfortable!"), but then he became very touchy, like rubbing her back, and always trying to get close with her when she would be watching her dance videos after practices. once it got worse, she was quick to call him out for it and started to push him away, which only resulted in the issue becoming physical one the trainer landed a hand on her face. nothing happened due to one of her friends, junhong, seeing the training grabbing her arms, coming in and dragging danbi out of the room before it got any worse. the following day, danbi noticed that she had bruises on her arm and her cheek was still evidently red.
this wasn't the end of the situation as it continued day after day with him being verbally (and sparingly physically) abusive when danbi would get something wrong, but much of her fellow trainees never did anything about it. danbi was advised by her friends to tell the ceo of the situation as soon as possible before it got any worse. the next day, danbi scheduled a meeting and voiced her opinion, but when the trainer came to give his own statement individually, the ceo quickly sided with the trainer as he was a highly respected and long-standing member of the company. the trainer was put on probation for five months while danbi was forced to terminate her contract and leave.

after hearing about this, danbi's relatives, as her legal guardians, filed a lawsuit against ts for child abuse, but it ended with ts winning because of the obvious reason that ts was more powerful and respected by the court whereas danbi was a mere teen who was told that she was just trying to get money from the company. this issue restrained danbi from going back into training, but, through encouragement and therapy, her cousin pulled a few strings for danbi to privately audition for jyp. she passed the auditions, signed an exclusive 2-year trainee contract and was slowly going back to her natural self with the help of new trainee friends and the counselors provided under jyp.

danbi became jyp's dark horse and was complimented by trainers and jyp himself after each practice and showcase. she grew to like jype and the people there that she befriended. in late 2016, her contract was coming to an end and she had to decide on whether she wanted to renew it or leave. she decided to renew it, but she was transferred five months into her renewed contract to cygnus due to her skills not expanding outside her usual style (hiphop and rap) and her age compared to the other girl trainees at the time.

after getting transferred, danbi was both confused and lonely while in cygnus. it was still a new company when she entered and there weren't many trainees, so it was always awkward. plus, the trainers weren't like the ones she had at jyp or even ts. it was a very laidback scenario, which rarely sat well with danbi. but, after getting used to the place, danbi grew close with the few trainees at the time and became the trainee's guiding light as she helped them outside of practice. maybe it was the amount of years she trained or the fact she wasn't a huge fan of how practices would go, but trainees were quick to flock to danbi when trainer after trainer kept complimenting her. but, of course, she took into consideration the advice of the higher ups in jyp and tried to expand outside her usual style through trying to choreograph various routines for evaluations and continously practicing her rap skills with her rap coach at cygnus and idol friends who are rappers.

as much as danbi wanted to stay in jyp, she started to find her niche in cygnus and her styles were becoming more varied and stronger. slowly but surely, in the span of a few months, she started to like her time at cygnus.

khiphop, krap, rock, r&b and most edm music. books and short stories. historical films and dramas. late-night talks with friends, family and her members. oversized clothes. affection and, secretly, aegyo (she'll look like she hates it on camera, but off-camera she does it frequently).

rude behaviors. being seen as a disappointment to others. making mistakes, even if it's minor. lack of recognition, especially with her work. thunderstorms and lightning. heights (make her bungee jump or get on a roller coaster and you'll catch her hands-).
#CHOREOGRAPHY.
dabbles in choreographing (see predebut experience) and tends to have the most input and ideas when it comes to idyll's dance routines. danbi's riddled with ideas to make their choreography stand out, but majority of her ideas were pushed aside due to its difficulty, which she gets since her skill set is usually difficult (or so her members have told her). it wasn't until windy day, where their trainers gave danbi full rein on the chorus, and saw a bit of fame for the routine. they started to entrust and ask danbi for input more after that. other choreographies that (i see) danbi taking a large part in for idyll would be: 어디야?, lalalilala, la la love, save me save you, and as you wish. since she has skills in choreographing, she's always subject to freestyling on variety shows (and, admittedly, she does a great job).
#ACTIVISM.
she's very vocal and big on advocating for things she's passionate about like lgbtqia+, justice for children (abuse, neglect, assault, etc.), and the #metoo feminist movement among others. she won't hesitate to call someone out if they step out of line on any issue and is always reading books, watching films and keeping up to date with it all. she receives the most hate by netizens because of this, but idyll raises a significant amount of fans (especially internationally) in the process, which, with time, results in less hate directed towards her.
#PTSD.
she suffered from ptsd as a trainee from ts, but achieved major recovery after seven months of frequent therapy through a personal therapist and counselors under jyp. although she recovered from it, she still has dreams here and there about the incident when she goes to bed overly stressed (which occurred a lot as a trainee and before debut) that results in waking up in a cold sweat and panic. she's able to cope with it by talking to friends/family or extensive practicing (usually dance, but sometimes she'll practice rap). she only recently started to take anti-depressants to help decrease the symptoms and her anxiety from stress in 2019 when her stress levels were the highest because of busy schedules.
#BOY_GROUPS.
since danbi likes strong concepts the most when it comes to dance, she enjoys learning and even practicing with boy group title and b-side tracks. she's a big fan of groups whose sound is more hiphop and/or rock-based. she lists super junior, exo, bap, monsta x, and skz as her top five boy groups; and lists eunhyuk, kai, jongup, j-hope and taemin as her top five male idols she likes because of their strong dance abilities. as of 2020, she's keeping a close eye on pentagon, sf9 and the boyz after seeing their dance performances and strong presence on stage. danbi always bets her life on boy group random play dances because she knows 99.9% of them (the .1% is her freestyling and getting away with it-).
#IDYLL_IMAGE.
because of the above fact and her training being heavy on hip hop and rock, she wasn't a fan of idyll's soft image for their debut and the title tracks that followed. she enjoyed the b-side tracks more in the beginning and always promoted the b-side tracks on shows compared to the title track(s). however, it started to grow on her after their first ep, nirvana, was released and they did promotions for windy day. title tracks following that started to suit danbi more.
#ALCOHOL.
she drinks sometimes, but not always. she started drinking right when she hit 20 with her fellow '96-liner friends to celebrate (euijin and junhong) and exclusively drinks with friends and/or family since she's known to be a lightweight. she can hold an okay amount of alcohol, but she goes over her limit a lot when she's obviously buzzed, and gets sleepy/knocked out quickly after being clingy and affectionate with everyone. she suffers from immense hangovers and headaches the next day, which is the main reason she'll only drink socially or if she has no morning schedules.
#EDUCATION.
danbi attended sopa as an applied dance student and graduated in may 2015. unlike some of her peers, she didn't do her college entrance exam because she wanted to focus on training. she admits that training's consumed her whole childhood and has become a lifestyle for her that she can't look past, and it was also hard for her to focus on school and training at the same time since she prioritized training more. if she were to attend college, though, she'd like to major in philosophy since she found it interesting and would prefer to major in something not art related.

the eldest cousin on her mother's side. she took danbi in when her parents couldn't and supported her in wanting to pursue a career in entertainment and performing arts as jindeok was well-informed about the industry. she helped her prepare for auditions and watched her grow as both a person an an artist.
jindeok acts as a mother figure to danbi. she treats her kindly and checks up on her every waking moment while simultaneously helping her achieve her dreams, no matter how long it'd take. she often nags and teases her, which results in playful fighting back and forth between them. yet she still supports her wholeheartedly and gives her the freedom to make her own decisions (as long as it's legal).

euijin and danbi trained together under ts, and evidently kept in touch after danbi was dropped from their label. the two hung out frequently before euijin would debut (dec. 2014) and while danbi was a new trainee under jyp. after euijin's debut and danbi grew busier as a trainee, their conversations lessened, but it was still there with danbi's congratulatory texts and euijin checking up on her from time to time. it wasn't until 2018 when euijin was promoting in uni.t and their promotions overlapped (i mean and a la terre, late-2018) that they reconnected during an encore stage on mcountdown. since then, they try to hang out whenever they're free and talk more frequently.
euijin's like the sister danbi never thought she needed, but is grateful for. the two are always supporting each other both as individuals and with their groups, and they try their bests to keep each other updated on everything going on. danbi entrusts euijin with literally everything from boy problems to company problems. she's always there to listen to danbi rant and argue, and she's always trying to give her best thoughts and input that get danbi's brain moving.

they were labelmates, but were unaware of it until they started high school (sopa, 2011) and were classmates (applied dance). through mutual friends in class, the two got close and would go to ts together (junhong would often drop off danbi for training or sometimes drop by to give her snacks/visit). despite his small standing as an artist in 2011 and busy schedules following that, they tried to hang out a lot at ts to get extra practice, improve her rap skills and to simply just hang out (euijin sparingly joined, but was usually busy with family). after danbi got dropped, junhong got busier with his schedule and touring, so their talks decreased and were limited to the handful of times he'd be in class (which wasn't very often). they didn't start talking and hanging out again until his group went on hiatus due to their lawsuit in mid-2014.
danbi credits junhong for being her motivator into learning rap and saw him as a mentor. he always helped her in rap and even dance, and danbi was always bugging junhong to either listen to a rap she practiced or watch a dance video she wanted to learn. it was annoying to junhong at first, but he quickly got used to danbi's neverending enthusiasm and passion and grew to devote the same energy back. also, danbi never calls him zelo because she's always known him as junhong and finds his stage name strange to her ("zelo? jello? what are you- food?" "yes, because i'm a snAck" "ew brb i'm gonna go puke").

they actually joined jyp at the same time (late-2015) and were put in the same training team upon entering. at first, they weren't close because of an and awkwardness, but they slowly opened up and got to know each other after playing a round of games and hanging out with their training team outside of practice. danbi and hyunjin share the same passions for dance and rap, so they found themselves bonding quickly over it, trained together and gave each other advice. danbi even frequently treated hyunjin to snacks after practice and nagged at him for not sleeping or doing moves wrong during practice. because of this, hyunjin takes jabs at her back which always results in playful smack talk.
danbi and hyunjin have a brother-sister relationship, with danbi taking the role of a nagging but caring older sister and hyunjin being the chaotic but hard-working younger brother. even after danbi left jyp and hyunjin was preparing for his debut, they still kept in contact, but rarely hung out outside of meeting with old trainee friends or through video calls.

although she cut ties with her parents at a young age, danbi still wonders what they're doing and how they are. she's afraid to ask her relatives of their whereabouts, but jindeok can read her like a book whenever they talk about family and updates her. the last thing she heard about her parents was that they moved to jeju in 2015.
danbi later learned that her father opened a school for low-income students in 2016, acting as both the founder and principal, while her mother is an english teacher at the same school. she was also told that, a few years after she was, for a lack of better words, disowned by her parents, they adopted a child who goes by cha yubin who attends jeju national university as a nursing major on a full-ride scholarship since 2019. she wasn't aware of the fact she basically now has a younger sister until years later, and she highly doubts that yubin knows of her as well.

TRAINEE LIFE
danbi's childhood was evidently robbed from her due to training and dancing, seemingly breathing and living in each company and every dance studio she'd come across.
at ts, as she was new to the whole trainee scene and so it took her awhile to warm up to the other trainees and the new lifestyle she was going to start. once she familiarized herself with the company, she grew close with other trainees and started to grow in terms of talent and skills. danbi quickly found her niche at ts: she found a dance style she felt comfortable with, her newly-founded rap skills were improving and she grew close with the other trainees that she frequently helped from time-to-time.
when she entered jyp, her trainee life was turned upside-down. compared to her strong start at ts, she found herself attending sessions with therapists and counselors due to the incident at ts taking a toll on her. she started to throw herself more into practices, opting to start her year off at jyp with late-night solo practices at the studio, weekly check-ins with counselors and sticking to her small group of trainee peers. she was evidently more quieter at the start but, after extensive check-ins and praises from trainers, she started to adapt to jyp. her once solo practices at 1am were joined by other friends and she hung out with them on a normal basis.
upon transferring to cygnus, danbi repeated her quiet and long solo practices, mainly because there wasn't a lot of trainees when she first joined. she spent a lot of her time dancing and perfecting various genres, something that the trainers had cited was the reason of her transfer, whilst trying to adjust to the new and more tame training. she wasn't really a fan of dance practices at cygnus, especially when it came to dance training, so she frequently took it upon herself to learn and teach herself everything on her own. after awhile, other trainees started to go to her for help and pointers, and she wasn't afraid to break them down to the core, even if it was going to hurt. after all, danbi strived for perfection in the things she was passionate about, but it never came off as inappropriate or wrong. danbi was just being danbi and, through that, she started to warm up to the others.

danbi choreographed a number of dances and has been since she got used to the trainee lifestyle. a number of her predebut videos were posted on youtube and naver, either by past trainee friends who she used to send videos to/recorded her personally or by danbi herself through sns (unless they were made and recorded while under cygnus). some of them include:

IDYLL'S ABI UNDER FIRE FOR "PROMOTING" FEMINISM
a picture of abi and [member] was released on idyll's insta/twt with her phone case saying 'girls can do anything'. the post caused an uproar over abi being a feminist and it caused a lot of backlash, especially with korean men. soon after, netizens brought up her book recommendations from interviews and fancafe posts that included kim jiyoung, born 1982, a controversial best-selling book for its feminist theme, among many other feminist-themed reads. anti-feminist fans started to act out by ripping, cutting and burning her photocards. the photo is still up and continues to spread on all other platforms. abi was later spotted looking exhausted during their schedule, which fans believed is caused by the negativity.

true. danbi has a case that she started using more that says 'girls can do any-thing' and she's, in fact, a feminist and supports the movement. she subtly hinted at it through books she'd recom-mend and music artists, but only through this did she become public about it. she knows about all the back-lash and it negatively affected her in all scheduled promotions following it.
IDYLL'S ABI APOLOGIZES FOR GOING ON HIATUS AFTER STAGE INCIDENT
according to their company, abi rushed to the stairs after a performance due to dehydration and exhaustion, but slipped and hit her head on the stage due to a misstep. fans witnessed a glimpse of abi falling at the side of the stage, going unconscious, and being carried out by her manager and staff. "abi accident" and "idyll's abi" became trending topics on naver and twitter in korea minutes after the incident.
a few days later, their company released a statement discussing the incident:
"hello. this is cygnus media.
we want to thank fans of idyll for giving love and supporting them. we unfortunately inform you that abi will be halting activities for the rest of the promotional period.
recently, abi fell getting off the stage and was immediately rushed to the hospital. after thorough examination, we have been told by the doctor that, to ensure full recovery, abi will need sufficient rest and halt further activities.
as of yesterday, abi was discharged from the hospital and is recovering and resting with family. idyll will carry out their schedule as normal with the remaining members.
we ask for your understanding and best wishes as abi temporarily halts her activities in order to return in better health.

following her company's statement, abi took to idyll's fancafe the next day to post a picture of her as well as a personal statement:
"hello. this is abi.
with the permission of my label, manager and doctor, i want to first clarify what had happened.
i was told i was unconscious for twenty minutes and, upon arrival to the hospital, i had woken up. but i was not aware of why i was in the hospital and why i was feeling immense pain in my ankle and wrist. after further examinations, i had suffered a concussion along with a broken ankle and sprained wrist due to my fall on top of my present dehydration and exhaustion.
the next day, my manager and a few of my members came. i couldn't remember their names, nor could i remember my cousin when she called me on my phone. i was further diagnosed with retrograde amnesia from my concussion. it was like that for the next few days, but, after talking to our leader one day and trying to remember her name, things started to come back. i still have difficulty remembering passwords and small things like that. i'm surprised i remembered the password to log in on here. ㅋㅋ
i want to assure fans that i'm doing better and i'm slowly recovering from my concussion and injuries.
i also want to apologize for making everyone worry about me. thank you for caring for me, but i also want to apologize for not showing a better me. that stage was not my best and i could've done better. because of that, i pushed myself too much to show a great performance, but i failed you. i'm sorry. i'm sorry to my fans who supported and cheered me on that cannot do so anymore due to my negligence. and i'm sorry to my members who i have failed and worried. thank you girls, especially [leader] who stayed in my hospital room looking after me everyday, and my fans for being there for me through all of this. again, i'm sorry.

a month after her company released a statement of her hiatus, abi was spotted out with a guy roaming seoul and eating at a restaurant at night. this caused a previous comment of her staying with a guy to be brought up again as it was speculated she entered and left an apartment building with different clothes to go eat at night. people started to speculate that she was dating or possibly pregnant, considering she was mentioned to have gained a bit of weight, according to the original source.
as abi's still on hiatus, cygnus media has yet to mention anything due to respecting her space and focusing on idyll's current schedule(s). abi has not come forward after this rumor grew in publicity.

the comment about her staying at his place is true, but not entirely. she stayed with him the second week of her hiatus because jindeok had a hectic schedule and couldn't look after her. so, changyun offered his place and took care of her until jindeok was readily available. she never stayed at his place besides that one week.

danbi caught changyun's eye one night in a jyp practice room alone. her moves were fluid and powerful, and he couldn't believe she wasn't already an idol yet. he decided to walk in and say hi in the most awkward and quiet way possible, as if he didn't want to disturb her when he clearly was. danbi knew who changyun was: the longstanding trainee who won the heart of jyp through dance yet still hasn't debuted. they were no strangers to who they were, but it was evident that it was hard to talk about anything but dance at first.
CIRCA 2015.
it took a few months and change of trainee teams for them to get closer. they would always find themselves in empty dance studios with their friends, talking about life and school, which danbi always hated talking about especially when she just graduated. danbi learned that changyun was in college as a dance major, and so they separately talked about that after their friends left, leaving the two in the studio alone. danbi got to learn how changyun always had a passion and liking for dance, wanting to entertain and teach others through it. in return, changyun learned why danbi was so persistent in training and why she frequently visited counselors. they got deep. of course, danbi was wary that she was telling someone whom she just got to know not even three months prior about things she was always scared of saying. but, for some reason, she felt comfortable telling him everything. he listened and gave her attention, and when it was right, he'd speak. danbi started to grow a bond with changyun that was unlike the others, and it was apparent to both of them.
CIRCA 2016.
a year later, february 2016, they started dating. it came as no surprise that their feelings developed, but it wasn't permitted for trainees to date. yet, at the same time, it wasn't a secret to trainees that there was relationships and flings happening, just as long as it was kept under wraps, so they decided to take the risk.
they spent much of their time together outside of training, and it helped that both of them were officially out of school, with changyun graduating in may 2016, and were free majority of their days. they seemingly did everything together. from having lunch at a local restaurant nearby to doing groceries for jindeok (who knew of their relationship and kept saying she didn't see anything when they were together), they were always hand-in-hand outside of jyp.
while training, they had to keep their relationship a secret, specifically around their trainers and higher ups. but they always stole quick glances at each other in their respective and new teams and always gravitated towards one another after practice. they always looked out for each other, and it always brought along teasing from their peers (mainly hyunjin who was close with both of them, dubbing himself the "third wheel").
the two were simply madly in love. anyone who saw them together would understand that, clear as day.
CIRCA 2017.
danbi's transfer came as a shock to, not just danbi, but changyun as well. he thought she had a bright future under jyp, and the last thing he expected was for her to be booted by their ceo. however, they still remained together. when danbi transferred, changyun chose to sign an exclusive contract as a choreographer, wanting to work alongside their boy groups. he no longer saw his life being an idol, even after all those years dedicated to it, and it was apparent to him that he was no longer fit age-wise with the trainees being significantly younger than him. however, he still had a passion for dancing, and so he chose to sign on as a choreographer after a late talk with danbi about their dreams and passions.
a bit after their first year together, they started to become more intimate. danbi found herself at changyun's apartment, wrapped up in the the sheets after drunk talks together at night and mornings of soft kisses and warm embraces. she was lucky that training at cygnus was in the afternoon for her and he lived close by, because she enjoyed starting her days off with changyun. it started to feel like second nature to her, being with changyun, and she liked this situation. she hoped they'd be like this for awhile.
outside of nights together, danbi would go to him for advice and he always kindly gave her whatever thoughts and opinions he had. when she would be up late practicing in empty studios at cygnus, he was always the first person to text/call to feel less lonely. of course, danbi would sometimes end up at his place the same night, but she just enjoyed seeing/hearing changyun when they were apart. it was evident that danbi was falling deeper and deeper in love with the man, and all she hoped for was for them to stay like this a little longer.
it wasn't until september that they started to grow a bit distant. changyun was getting busier after finding immediate fame for choreographing got7's never ever a few months back and now working closely with the upcoming group stray kids. danbi was also getting busy with training, rumors spreading that cygnus was forming their group to debut in the first half of 2018. she started to visit him less and nights were no longer spent together. their phone conversations became miniscule with only "i love you" and "good night/morning" texts that they always responded with "me too" and the likes. it became apparent to them that it wasn't the same anymore.
changyun was the first to initiate the dreaded "where should we go from here" conversation one night after getting intimate. danbi didn't know how to respond, only drawing repetitive circles on his bare abdomen while he just stared at the ceiling waiting for her response. she wanted to stay, but at the same time, would it be worth it if that spark was disappearing?
in the silence, changyun suggested they break up. danbi didn't want to agree, nor could she bring herself to say the same. changyun voiced that it was best to do because of their careers, especially with danbi's chances of debut looking up. he wanted her first article being how talented she was, not a dating rumor with him. danbi was quick to voice her opinion, saying that she didn't care if she got swamped with dating rumors, but she knew where he was coming from. she knew it wouldn't be right for her future members if it happened. so, she ultimately agreed. she wasn't happy, but she did it. she spent that final night, her back facing a sleeping changyun, crying herself to sleep. the next morning, danbi watched changyun cry, but all she could do was say goodbye.
the months following were hell for her. not only was she preparing for debut and working her off alone in the studio, she was still going through her breakup and mending from it. she suffered meltdown after meltdown, nightmare after nightmare, because of all the stress and frustration built up. she started to throw herself more into practice and spending sleepless nights in the studio, finding herself being woken up by her members most nights. only a handful of the girls were aware of her state while others just saw it as danbi working hard for debut. although true, danbi's initial intentions were not that.
slowly, the two stopped talking. changyun was the first to stop answering texts, citing a hectic schedule, and danbi followed suit, thinking he no longer wanted anything to do with her. luckily for her, cygnus put a year ban on their phones, so she was slowly able to focus on idyll rather than changyun.
CIRCA 2019.
after two years, they saw each other for the first time when idyll's april story promotions overlapped with stray kids as changyun was the choreographer and backup dancer during their miroh promotions. they ran into each other backstage when danbi decided to visit hyunjin and the other members, which resulted in an awkward encounter. hyunjin, not knowing better, tried to get the two to talk and brought up their past history, which simply made the air even more awkward. however, both were professional and mature enough to see past it and casually talked for the sake of hyunjin, a longtime friend of theirs. a little while after, danbi mentioned she got a new phone after cygnus lifted their phone ban, and she exchanged numbers with both hyunjin and changyun.
their first text conversation was awkward. danbi was the first to break the ice by saying "that was awkward, wasn't it?" and changyun cheekily replied "haha, it was". after awhile of awkward small talk, they started talking about their relationship, mainly changyun saying he missed her after two years. they realized they were most happiest when talking to one another, and changyun admits he was stupid to randomly stop texting. they slowly got back into the rhythm of texting like they did when they were still friends.
danbi started to secretly meet with him at his apartment with the popular excuse of "i'm going to visit family/friends". as danbi was an idol (though still fairly small), they rarely met in public since changyun didn't want to risk her getting caught, even if they were only friends. however, months later, their relationship developed into something more when a slightly tipsy changyun invited danbi to drink with him at his place and made a move on her. danbi, too drunk to process anything, accepted it. in fact, she wanted it. she missed it. the next day, changyun kept apologizing for his rash decision which only resulted in danbi laughing and pampering him with kisses. their relationship never evolved officially to a couple because, again, changyun didn't want to jeopardize their careers, but danbi frequently found herself at his apartment on some nights.
no one's aware that their relationship grew to this extent, however everyone noticed a change and 'glow' to danbi.
the first to find out was euijin who, while hanging out, snuck a peak at danbi's phone and saw a text asking if she was coming over that night from a contact she didn't recognize. she jokingly asked if danbi was hooking up with someone, but danbi admitted that she was, not wanting to lie to her best friend.
junhong simply found out through a drunken phone call from danbi, confessing everything. the next day, junhong cheekily asked how changyun was like in bed since he knew that she was piss drunk and wanted to a bit.
hyunjin found out through changyun who openly asked what danbi likes to eat for dinner. hyunjin questioned why, especially out of the blue, and he said that danbi was going to visit him. hyunjin asked if he could join, but changyun just kept telling him no. changyun confessed to hyunjin after a gruesome five minutes of hyunjin nagging for changyun to invite him (and, believe me, hyunjin stopped once changyun blurted out the truth).
strangely enough, a few of her members, especially the ones she's close with, had their suspicions of danbi's whereabouts and how she started to go to a random dance studio to meet with a choreographer friend to work on idyll's routines, but always declined the other dancers' offers of joining. they found out one night while practicing windy day, as they were coming back in a few weeks, when danbi came a little late to the practice room, her neck covered in hickies and a different shirt than she left with initially.

their feelings would evidently grow stronger. after all, they had a history together that neither of them could forget, no matter how much they tried. since danbi is straightforward and says it how it is, she confesses her feelings while wrapped in the sheets one night, trying to catch her breath. her sudden confession catches changyun off guard, to which he jokingly asks "hey... are you drunk?"
of course she swears she's not. though she might be a little tipsy, she's definitely not drunk. this just makes changyun poke fun at her a bit more. but out of anger and annoyance, danbi yells at him for being childish and not giving her a straight answer. changyun's, again, taken aback by her sudden change of mood, but all he could do was watch as she got up, put on her clothes and storm out of his apartment to end up in a dance studio at cygnus. changyun doesn't know what just happened, nor did his drunk self want to process what happened. for some reason, all he wanted to do was cry right then and there.
changyun takes some time to himself to process things, which danbi took as a sign that maybe it was bad to drop the confession out of nowhere like that. however, the incident just got changyun thinking that if his feelings for danbi were more than just moments in bed and late-night makeout sessions. he wondered if, after all these years, did he ever fall out of love for danbi? did he ever stop loving her to begin with?

wow ngl i love danbi and i hope you love her too ㅠ and don't @ me for the amount of typos and strange wording,,, i did majority of this app at 3am with zero sleep,,,
at first, i wasn't going to mention her parents since they're not part of her life, but she does think about her parents a lot since the fact she wants to please and prove to her parents about her decisions (whether they're watching her or not) is her biggest motivator to keep at the idol life. so i wanted to give a bit of background on them.
