full name. heo jaewoo, 허재우.

other names.

JAYCE HEO, 제이스 허　his english name he went by in australia. while in australia, people somehow always butchered his korean name, so he adopted the name jayce because he thought it sounded cool at the time. now in korea, he rarely uses it and will actually slap you if you call him jayce.

HOE, 호　when you rearrange the letters in his surname, of course, the joke of calling him a hoe is right there. he doesn't get called this often, but it does arise when people are mad at him or just want to for the heck of it. but he isn't fazed over it. in fact, jaewoo will just laugh and call that person a hoe back.

PRESIDENT, 대통령　if you know jaewoo, he's taken up leader roles since he was young. from "owning" the playground in first grade in australia to the handful of clubs he's joined from high school on, everyone knows of him or knows of his name through taking on high positions. his most notable role was being president of his graduating class's student council for the duration of his four year bachelor's program and was even vice president of his graduating class's student council in high school. everyone who was part of student council, along with majority of the student body who's close to him, call him president, even when he's no longer president. jaewoo's also joked about how he's going to become the next president of south korea, to which a lot of people say it's actually highly likely it'll happen, but he always denies it/says he's joking (but deep down, he wants to).

KANGA-WOO, 캥거우　just a play on words with the animal, kangaroo, and his name, jaewoo. hailing from australia and developing such a heavy accent, it was bound that he'd have some sort of nickname to a common animal from australia. but since he's known to work out pretty frequently and people know how he's down for the cause no matter what, people were quick to associate him with a ~~buff~~ kangaroo. it first started in australia when he was still that cliché bad boy/head of the school from his friends, but it soon found way to his friends in high school when he said his favorite animal was a kangaroo (as a joke).

ENGLISH, 영어　jaewoo's lived in australia for much of his childhood and he picked up the language since a young age. he sparingly speaks in english, especially when he's upset/frustrated or someone close to him also speaks english, but he's still fluent in the language. he owns up to a heavy australian accent when speaking.

*there's no noticeable differences besides the weight change between jaewoo and his faceclaim (bang chan). their facial features are the same, their build is similar and the way their portray themselves to the public is alike as well. jaewoo, however, does dye his hair so it's a bit fried and lowkey damaged (but honestly, so is bang chan's. it's sad and i'm praying for him and his hair).

style. similar to his faceclaim (bang chan), jaewoo prioritizes comfort over anything. he typically wears clothes he feels both comfortable and confident in. he's typically sporting a sort-of goody-two-shoes vibe during the days, similar to your cliché class president described in dramas and books. he's most comfortable in this style, but, outside of school and work, you'll see jaewoo sporting rather darker clothes that give him a completely different vibe from what others expected of him. mainly this is because he's sported the so-called "bad boy" look for as long as he can remember, simply because he was the bad boy when he was younger and he just stuck with that style. but he knows that, to put a good front you need to dress appropriately and clean, so you'll see him sporting denim and leather only during hangouts outside of school and baggy clothes for lounging at home. jaewoo also sports a lot of accessories that he's proud of, typically because his family gave it to him as gifts or he bought them himself. you'll see him in earrings at all times in both lobes along with a bracelet or two. sometimes he'll wear necklaces, but that's not really common of him. what's common to him is his dyed hair that many either compliment him over or tell him to stop because it's evident that his hair is dying ~~just like his soul~~.

BACKGROUND.

circa 1996.　heo jaewoo, the second and (seemingly) final child of the heo family, was born in a small yet homely hospital in gwacheon, gyeonggi-do, south korea. his brother, heo jaewon, preceded him by roughly two years.

circa 1998.　two years following his birth, the heo family moved to australia in an attempt to find a stable occupation to help provide for the family. thinking australia was going to be their new home, the family proceeded with an open heart and open mind, hopeful for their new beginning.

circa 2001.　jaewoo officially began kindergarten whilst his older brother was off in elementary school. although putting a more quaint and quiet front during the first weeks, jaewoo found himself becoming more social and confident in himself, to which people in his kindergarten class thought was "cool". in a matter of a month, jaewoo found himself ruling over his peers on the playground and in social events.

circa 2002.　found himself going into primary school with an equal amount of popular, if not more. much of his peers attended kindergarten with him the previous year or were the group of neighborhood kids he'd spend his off days with during breaks. and, seemingly, his brother's status was prevalent through sports and his seemingly okay academic standing. so, in a way, jaewoo rode the wave of his older brother. although, sure, he had his own name at a measly age of six, he felt a bit threatened by his brother being in the same facility and location as him.

circa 2006.　now ten, his brother moved on to secondary school. jaewoo began to feel less threatened and more at ease knowing his brother wasn't under the same school roof as him. for the past four years, jaewoo was always compared to jaewon and, sure it had its perks, but the constant "you're jason (jaewon's english name he went by) younger brother, right?" or even "you have big shoes to fill as jason's little bro'" made him feel inferior and pushed him to be "better" than his older brother. his personality became more tough and began to lack self-love due to the idea that he'll never live up to his brother.

circa 2010.　quickly into secondary school, the heo family moved back to korea so their children were more close to their roots. it was difficult to readjust to an environment unfamiliar to the two brothers, but they pushed through with the help of their family and other notable neighborhood friends. 2010 also marked the year that the then-fourteen year old jaewoo met his future best friend.

circa 2012.　jaewoo soon was able to adjust to his surroundings and peers around him. he still had minor conflicts due to his more headstrong and serious front he built back in australia, but he was seemingly a knowledgable sixteen year old that wanted nothing but the best for himself. but, as his brother was entering college, and a rather prestigious one at that, much of his family and friends began to question jaewoo's own abilities and future endeavours. with jaewon going towards being a pilot, jaewoo still struggled to figure out what he wanted to do in life, thinking that his choice is permanent. but, because of pressures being put on him by those around him, he, again, felt inferior to his brother, something he thought wouldn't happen again. that's when jaewoo started to become more academically-inclined in school rather than what he built himself up to be.

circa 2014.　now graduating as class president, he figured out his life goal rather late into his high school career. at eighteen, he enrolled into various business schools and universities to major in pre-law, thinking that being a lawyer suited him best. he was soon accepted into snu the spring of 2014, months before graduating. many of his peers thought he was joking, knowing well that jaewoo had no clue on what he was going to be and do, especially since he obtained the presidency status mainly on popularity (though, of course, it was more of an academic popularity status) and snu was extremely competitive, even for the smartest high schoolers, but jaewoo was quick to prove everyone wrong. ultimately, jaewoo finally escaped being in the shadow of his brother as people saw he was doing his own unique thing.

circa 2017.　graduated laude and even as student council president a year early at snu as a business major with a minor in communications and media. he had no intention to graduate early, but he thought graduating early had perks, especially when it came to how competitive graduate school would be. luckily enough, his hard work and perserverance earned him a spot in snu's graduate school for law. his older brother, jaewon, had also completed his studies and was in the midst of completing his last years of pilot school.

LIFESTYLE.

circa 2019.　now, jaewoo's just going through the motions of life and trying to push through graduate school, hoping to make it out alive. his brother, now officially done his studies, is moving on with his life and is in the midst of moving to incheon on his own. jaewoo still currently lives with his parents, but he's been staying with his friend, hajun, in his apartment as it's closer to snu than his family house from time to time. however, he's still striving to become more independent in the sense he's finding his own place, make his own income and depend less on his parents for support.

01　currently attends seoul national university in their graduate program for business and law with a goal to become a lawyer or, simply, a businessman (or even president, if you want to take it that far). he was previously a business major at snu on the pre-law track with a minor in communications and media, and has since completed his bachelor's in business and completed his minor early in 2017.
02　jaewoo currently works part-time over the summer at an ice cream shop and, during school, volunteers at a local law firm, filing papers and helping where it's needed. he's going to intern at that same law firm this upcoming summer (2019) and will only work at the ice cream shop on weekends. fun fact: while working at the ice cream shop, someone took a picture of him and it lowkey went viral on twitter for a few days with the caption "cute boy serving looks and ice cream? a dream come true". jaewoo found out about this through his friends and he took the initiative to dm the girl with a picture through his friend's account and said "cute boy here to serve more looks. hi". let's just say, the girl died after that (not literally, but, y'know).
03　he said that if he wasn't so adament on becoming a lawyer, he'd either become a social activist, a journalist/news anchor or even a dancer. he had a lot of options and choices as a kid, and he's thankful to have so many opportunities to even think of seeing himself in any of these occupations. regardless, though, he still wants to be an advocate whilst being a businessman/lawyer and, if all else goes south as a lawyer, he'll pursue a career in journalism. as for being a dancer, he always loved dancing since a young age because of the friends he surrounded himself with, but he mainly saw it as a hobby and his final career path. he also thought of following his older brother in becoming a pilot, but didn't because he didn't want to be like his brother ~~lmao~~.
04　everyone knows him for his hair because the kid is dying it constantly. of course, in his field of work, he shouldn't be dying his hair so frequently and stick with his natural black hair, but he wants to enjoy it while he still can. in the past, he's had dark brown, light brown, hazel, greenish/blonde, brown with light-colored highlights, platinum, gray, and light blue. currently, it's blonde, which he's had before in the past. everyone pokes fun over how he's going to go bald soon, which, honestly, jaewoo's accepted at this rate.

•　like any siblings (especially two brothers), jaewon hated jaewoo the moment he was born for the obvious reason of jaewoo getting more attention because he's still a baby

•　storytime! jaewon once had a staring contest with jaewoo when jaewoo was one and lost, only to explode and accidently throw a book to jaewoo's head

•　since that moment, jaewon always jokes that jaewoo's gotten smarter since then since the book was a history book and has also since apologized for the accident ~~years later~~

•　jaewon stopped hating jaewoo when he got old enough to play with him since jaewon wasn't lonely anymore in the house

•　actually enjoys jaewoo's company, even though he always says he hates his younger brother and calls him an idiot

•　but that's simply their relationship: a whole lot of love-hate and mean jokes followed by a small sign of affection (e.g. hug, pat on the back and sometimes even a kiss on the cheek/head to which both of them react in disgust)

•　oddly enough, met on tinder when luna was a senior in high school and jaewoo was a fourth year college student finishing up his bachelor's degree

•　no, they didn't hook up. in fact, jaewoo made his tinder as a joke to see what it's like with his english name, and when luna said she's going to attend snu, jaewoo went into full panic mode and told her the truth of why he's on tinder, who he really is, etc. he didn't want to suddenly see her on campus for her to call him jayce out of nowhere and people being like ?? who ??

•　weirdly grew close after that, but not as close as with their own group of friends because of, a, an of three years (which, to them, feels like a decade) and, b, rarely seeing each other on campus because of clashing schedules

•　they still talk here and there through text and occasional meet-ups on campus.

•　jaewoo tries to force luna to call him oppa because he's, obviously, older, but luna doesn't want to because he acts like a literal child around her so he's just accepted it at this point

•　but he'll still try to get her to say oppa at least once to his face

•　jaewoo's always commenting on luna's dance videos about how talented and amazing she is, especially since she's improving so much

•　they also sometimes record dance videos together because they both love dancing and music, but only have one public video together

•　and that single public video on luna's instagram has caused many comments and questions about their relationship because luna's not one to dance with someone of the opposite gender, especially with someone three-years her senior (and it also raises questions because president heo jaewoo himself can dance???)

•　hajun's a current grad student in snu's performing arts department with a focus in dance and a minor in psychology. his goal in life is to become a dance/movement therapist, but also start a choreographing career for himself while possibly doing dance lessons on the side. he currently works at a local dance sudio near his apartment he shares with older sister, hwang yoojin (age 26).

•　people wouldn't think they're friends or even know each other, but they actually do

•　met in middle school when jaewoo was the new transfer student from australia and hajun actually thought he was pretty cool

•　also they were seatmates and lilterally live five or so houses away from each other, often taking the bus to school together

•　polar opposites of each other, but they somehow make their friendship work through all their arguments and ~~playful~~ fights

•　hajun's also a big tsundere but also a petty forty year old woman stuck inside a teeaged boy's body, which isn't a bad thing, but it's not a good thing either

hyojung is probably the sweetest most levelheaded person you'd encounter, and many enjoy being in her presence. her sense of leadership and compassion towards others is something admirable and it's notably her greatest trait. hyojung has always been understandable and always gave her honest opinions on things. though, at times, her choices cause her unhappiness or darkness, she manages to keep a positive mindset for the sake of her own sanity, not wanting to bother others with her own issues. with this mindset, she understands that she's not the only person and that the universe doesn't revolve around her, but rather there's others who need more care and love besides herself. she may not understand other struggles and may become insensitive as she makes up scenarios in her head, but she does know right from wrong, or at least for the most part. she simply wants to do what she loves while also attempting to help those around her that need it most.

but, of course, hyojung has her moments where she just wants to keep to herself and distance herself from others. though there's nothing wrong with that, it instantly makes others feel awkward around her as it becomes hard to approach her when she's feeling down or angry. at moments like that, she can only focus on herself and no one else, and maybe assume she's just going through a "phase" or is on "that time of day". sure, it may be a joke, but sometimes these jokes cause hyojung to snap back and act on impulse rather than what's right versus wrong. she has these spurts of moments rather constantly, especially due to school and loved ones. because of this, hyojung doesn't necessarily have a lot of friends outside of jaewoo, her colleagues and classmates that approached her first. she wants to desperately change her negative mindset, but it's a constant fight that she rarely wins.

01　hyojung was born in yangyang, gangwon, south korea on july 28, 1994 (currently age 24 internationally), but she later moved to jongno-gu, seoul-ssi, south korea with her family when she was fifteen because of her parents's job transfer to seoul.

02　she has an older sister named choi jihye (age 29) who's currently living abroad in thailand, working for unicef as a humanitarian affairs administrator and relief worker. her older sister is also engaged to a man named yoo ilseong (age 30) who she met back in college, and they both live together in thailand and work together under unicef.

03　she graduated 2017 (age 22/23) from yonsei university's college of dentistry (bachelor's degree) with a minor in child and family studies. she's now currently aiming for her doctoral degree in their department of pediatric dentistry and will likely graduate spring 2021 (age 26/27).

the two actually go way back, and by way back, i mean way back. jaewoo and hyojung met through being in the same neighborhood when jaewoo was that new kid on the block, along with his brother, and hyojung was seemingly the bright and outgoing girl-next-door girl. of course, jaewoo thought that the then-seventeen year old hyojung was cute appearance-wise when she came to their family's door giving homemade cookies in a cute pink plastic gift bag as a welcome to the neighborhood, but jaewoo simply saw her as another neighbor and nothing more. he thought their paths wouldn't cross anymore as he was trying to get through ninth grade, stressing about entering high school the following year, but he began to become accustomed to her presence and continued to see her nearly everyday, all because she was the same age and attended the same school as jaewon.

it wasn't that jaewoo disliked being around hyojung and vice versa, but it was evident that there was a gap between them and they were rather polar opposites. jaewoo was that crazy and outgoing kid that, at the time, was always finding himself in trouble for getting into verbal fights because he was always the type to stand up for people whereas hyojung was the intelligent and down-to-earth girl that everyone seemed easy to befriend. to jaewoo, hyojung was similar to his brother and he knew very well that him and his brother tend to heads a lot. so, out of fear of possibly damaging a friendship of some sort with hyojung, he didn't dare to speak to her outside of the typical greetings and questions about jaewon.

when jaewoo entered high school and hyojung was now in her final year (based on the korean education system), he became more aware of the people he befriended and who he was becoming. on top of that, he noticed how drastically different middle school was to high school when it came to people's love lives. crushes and dating sounded more of a sport for people compared to middle schoolers who did it to look cool and, at times, cute. but having crushes as a youngster, drawing hearts on sticky notes you'd pass to each other and staring across the room, was very different to the now. crushing on someone meant that texts were written and rewritten, your head would always hang low to avoid eye contact, and sometimes even playful banter would be released out of embarrassment. although a first year, jaewoo had already had his share of people liking him and him having small crushes towards others, but it actually was never with hyojung. hyojung, at the time, was invested in applying to an extremely competitive and rigorous major and an equally as competitive university to really worry about her own love life, so hyojung wasn't around jaewoo as often as before. but, somehow, hyojung grew to become one of jaewoo's greatest friends. in only a span of one, or two, years, jaewoo's come to know hyojung more than just his neighbor. through becoming comfortable with her whenever she would hang out with his brother at their house to the infinite number of texts they'd share regarding jaewoo starting high school over that one summer, they've grown closer and fonder of each other's company. but that was rather the jist of their relationship: texts about how they're doing with school and only seeing each other through jaewon. and it was obvious to jaewoo that he was only seen as a kid to hyojung.

now a second year student in high school, with hyojung now graduated with honors from high school and attending a private university, they don't see each other as often as they once did. but, somehow, the two keep in touch through constant text and video call on an almost daily basis and, of course, through jaewon as well. surprisingly, jaewon also got accepted into yonsei, the same university as hyojung, as an aeronautics engineering major and attended yonsei for his undergraduate courses. jaewoo wondered why his brother even chose yonsei when he actually got accepted into his dream school, hanseo, to become a pilot. however, it turned out that, jaewon's developed feelings for hyojung and thought the only possible way to continue seeing her and start a relationship was to attend the same university. so, ditching his dream for a while, he committed to yonsei with hyojung and, soon enough, the two started to date.

when jaewoo found out, he didn't really know how to feel. sure, he knew he had absolutely no chance with hyojung and knew that she only saw him as a friend, but a bit of him felt like he wasn't enough to be seen as a man to someone who continuously encouraged and pushed him to pursue things you liked the most. but, at the same time, he was happy that hyojung was happy because, to him, that's all that mattered.

timelapse to jaewoo now being a first year college student graduating with seemingly high honors, he didn't dare enrolling into yonsei like hyojung and jaewon, only because he felt like he'd third-wheel around them. the two were still going strong in 2015, two years after hooking up, and, shockingly, jaewooh's conversations with hyojung have gotten progressively longer and more intimate. of course, jaewooh was already struggling despite only being in his first semester, but the transition was too big for him. with goals of becoming a lawyer or a possible businessman at stake, he didn't realize how difficult his classes would be. so, he would always go to hyojung for advice, just like when he entered high school for the first time. of course, hyojung had a lot on her plate as well with research and trying to expand her resume, but she still found time to calm jaewoo's nerves about starting in a new environment.

they hung out ever-so often, typically during school breaks and with jaewon tagging along, but their conversations would always last for, what felt like, years on end. they were comfortable with sharing their insecurities to one another, whether it was with jaewon or not, and they became each other's go-to person to talk to when they were having a difficult time in their lives. but, of course, with jaewon still so deeply in love with hyojung , there was no way that jaewoo and hyojung would become something more. but, at this point, teo younger male and older female liked that. having a best friend was more important to them than anything, and they wouldn't want to change that for the world.

a few years go by and, not only is hyojung and jaewoo's friendship stronger than ever, but hyojung and jaewon were still together after four years (2017). however, it was becoming apparent to jaewoo that their relationship was beginning to sit on rocks, especially considering they were a rather far distance from each other, with jaewon in hanseo university and hyojung still in yonsei, and their now extremely busy schedules, as jaewon was becoming the pilot he always wanted to become and hyojung only just graduated with her bachelor's and was continuing towards her doctoral degree. both of them were becoming progressively busier, which only made their conversations shorter and almost nonexistent, and both of them noticed it. however, neither wanted to break up with the other, all because they truly didn't want to.

but, days of not speaking go by, and, mutually, they decided that it was best for their sanity and needs that they'd break up. when jaewoo found out, he felt mixed emotions. jaewon always talked to him about his relationship problems and how he regrets not being there for hyojung and the same for hyojung, so he had a gut feeling it was coming. but, at the same time, he grew scared of the idea that the two wouldn't be close anymore and, thus, would tarnish his friendship with the older girl. jaewoo cherished all his friendships, especially hyojung's, and the thought of not being close to someone you've grown fond of over the years scared him. but, luckily enough, hyojung still considered jaewon her friend and so did his brother.

although, now, jaewoo's in graduate school for law in seoul national university and hyojung's still in the midst of getting her doctorate for dentistry, they still somehow manage to stay in touch. shockingly, hyojung never got into a relationship with anyone else since her breakup, keeping herself busy with classes and working long hours, but jaewoo, on the other hand, did have a few sporadic hookups since entering university, but none have lasted over a year due to mutual fallout. but, to jaewoo, he actually never lasted long in relationships because of hyojung and, soon enough, he found himself falling for his own brother's ex.

now entering a new school year, the pair have grown close and frequently talk to each other during study sessions together and sporadic video calls for company. although they major in different things, they always try their best to help the other with anything they needed, and that's something that hasn't changed since they became each other's best friends. with jaewon now graduated and officially pursuing his dreams, jaewoo trying to survive in graduate school, and hyojung just pushing through her own hectic lifestyle, it's actually becoming pretty difficult to all meet up let alone talk. but, somehow, each person made sure to give breaks and catch up whenever possible. for the most part, it's always jaewoo and hyojung who meet up while jaewon's off doing his own thing. but whenever jaewon sees his younger brother and ex-girlfriend hanging out so frequently, it always raises the same question of whether his brother's intentions with an ex of his is purely friendship or something more.

and because of their constant hang outs and night adventures on the weekends after homework to mend their dark feelings and stress about life, many would ask if they were a "thing", and the only answer that sounds right to hyojung is a firm "no". but, to jaewoo, her replies of "no" genuinely hurt him. to him, hyojung was someone that he wants to keep happy; no more sadness, no more anxiety build-ups— he wanted what was best for her, and that was happiness. thanks to hyojung, his view on the world changed, and he became more hopeful and considerate, trying to bring the mood up between his friends and family. that was all thanks to hyojung. but when he takes quick glances at hyojung across the room or sees her talking to some guy that isn't him, a weird feeling in his stomach fills his mind, finally realizing that his investment in keeping hyojung was just a ploy to not think about seeing her as something more than a friend. it was always this way for jaewoo, ever since they first met when he moved back to korea nextdoor to her and even when she started dating jaewon. he always had these feelings for the older, but he never came to terms with it or what it truly meant. until now. in short, jaewoo was in love, but hyojung just saw him as a good friend and just a friend.

sidenote/tl:dr: jaewoo's always been on-and-off with his feelings for hyojung, so i'd mainly put him on the fence about this. however, i see him leaning more towards wanting to become more than friends, but the only thing stopping him is his brother. as for hyojung, she's more focused on her life goals rather than wanting to get back into the dating scene. currently, she sees jaewoo as her closest friend.

interactions.

although some may say differently, jaewoo and hyojung act like nothing more than two peas in a pod. whenever they could, they always try to visit each other or hang out, always making sure to play a little catch up in their lives. they're always messing around through the hilarious conversations and stupid banters the two have with each other, but on the side, they're also very affectionate and have a bond that makes people sometimes wonder the true status of the two. but, of course, when you know hyojung's the ex of jaewoo's older brother, then you'll understand that there's a reason they only see each other as friends.

as the two are dead set on what they want to become after college and trying to survive through rigorous courses for hours on end, it's become apparent that they're busy with school and their own lives, but that doesn't stop either of them from having fun when they can. for the most part, it's always jaewoo dragging out hyojung from her studying at home in the wee hours of the night over the weekends, simply because he's bored and says it's important to take breaks away from school. after yelling at jaewoo to take school seriously, especially since his goal is to become a lawyer, hyojung has no choice but to follow suit. after all, jaewoo was always like this, putting his own enjoyment over studying whenever he felt like it. hyojung was never that sort of person. she was always seen studying or doing homework, even at parties and get-togethers, but that's simply because she thought education came first. they differed in that way, but, somehow, hyojung doesn't mind it after a while. after all, a little bit of fun never hurt anyone and, surely, hyojung enjoys every bit of her hangouts with someone she considers her best friend.

in hyojung's case, she treats him like the rest of her friends: playful banters, encouraging messages shared between the two and the occassional yelling when something goes out of line for her. compared to jaewoo, hyojung's someone who isn't overly fond of skinship, but is never opposed to it when it's with friends, and that includes jaewoo. whenever jaewoo initiates skinship, whether it's through holding hands or holding onto each other so they don't get separated in a sea of people or even resting their heads on one another when they're tired, it's rather comfortable at this point in their life. however, their skinship is not overly public and either happens on accident or with a reason.

currently, more of a brother-sister relationship, simply because hyojung's an ex of jaewoo's older brother.

in regards to them ever crossing that boundary of friendship and dating, i feel as if jaewoo's half and half. he believes that if it's meant to be, then it's meant to be and should push for your own happiness. but he also believes that if you love someone so much, you should learn to let them go so they find their own happiness. and what's stopping him is, again, his brother. would he really chose family over this girl he knows has a history with his brother or not?

as for hyojung, she would believe the same reason, but when you see someone so deeply as a brother, it's difficult to see them as more than that. but, who knows? feelings and thoughts change, and hyojung wouldn't want to push away an opportunity to live her life happy and full of love.
