Reasons Why I Hate Kpop...

I'm going to be negative Nancy for a second. I am obsessed with Kpop, however there are some things I don't necessarily agree with in the industry. There are pros and cons to everything. Nothiing's perfect.

Visuals

4 years in and I'm still not fond of visuals. You know that member who is only there for looks and barely has talent. Or maybe they do have talent and they completely overshadow the rest of the members. I am in no way discrediting the faces of groups. Idols train extremely hard before debuting and endure tough conditions long after their first appearances. However, the fact that a girl or boy can be picked solely on of their pretty face is hard to swallow. But this is the materialistic world we live in. Most people want to see good-looking people no matter what race, nationality, or gender you are. With visuals standing in the center, groups can become crazy popular.

Promotion Periods

I love to see my favorite groups and solo artists on music shows. I love to see them give emotional/inspiring speeches and sometimes cry when they win. But I don't like how busy they are. By the time their goodbye stage happens they look exhausted. Ukiss's Kevin once said on After School Club that he was only sleeping 3 HOURS a night during promotions. I understand that they have a lot of activities, but the management can do better than this. What are managers for if they can't even provide their groups with at least 6 hours a sleep a day. Without sleep you can't think correctly and it's bad for your health. Not to mention, the frequent performances can ware on the vocal cords. Most singers rely on lip syncing or background tracks because their voices are too warped to sing Live.

Relevancy

Unless you have achieved ultimate fame like Big Bang, Super Junior, or SNSD you have the potential to become irrelevant. Imagine if a group like BTS, Exid, or Got7 decided not to release any material for months or years. They would most likely never be thought about again. The fans will move on to newer groups and the fandoms would scatter to other places. And once they finally return, not that many people will be there to support them. In American music you can still hear old songs playing on the radios. An artists can disappear, comeback years later, and still be popular. Because Kpop is growing so fast, groups have to constantly keep moving to stay relevant in the industry.

Popularity Kills All

Popularity kills all, across the board. It happens everywhere in the world. Think about who wins the music shows. Exo, SHINee, SNSD, 2ne1... All the popular groups. The underdogs with great songs, but small companies always come up short. They are ranked low on the charts, but their songs are sometimes better than the ones on the top. Once again, I'm not trying to discredit anyone. Everyone deserves their trophies. But it would be nice if there was a music show that was based on song quality rather than what's popular.

Harsh Companies

I am an SM stan so I know all about harsh companies. Members not being paid or treated fairly, strict rules, years-long training, extreme diets to stay thin, small dorms to live in, overpacked schedules. Most of the problems I've listed above are caused by poor company management. There's also the lack of freedom too. Most groups do what their management tells them. There's no room for creativity or individuality. What you see doesn't mean that's what they want for themselves.

Fandoms

I love the idea of a group or artist having their own fandom. I probably should've added this in my reason why I love Kpop blog. Fandoms make you a part of a community. You can spazz out, cry, and complaint together. When I say I am a Shawol or a VIP I can automatically connect with so many others who feel the same way I do. But fandoms can also come with downsides. Sometimes fans can get out of control. You know what I mean. Crazy saesangs stalking the idols, netizens watching them 24/7, large stampeeding crowds everywhere they go. Idols can't go anywhere without a bodyguard. You rarely see idols out in public having fun without a camera in their face. And because of crazy netizens, idols can't even date or make the simlist mistakes. Their poularity will fall ridiculously low. I wish some fans would respect their privacy and personal life.

I agree 100%! Some groups are overrated and it's only because of their fan base that makes some groups seem bigger than what they actually are. Sometimes it seems like groups now days that debut don't work as hard as those older groups but I could be wrong.
