background. Maerin was born to a korean father and chinese mother which led to her having a korean and chinese name. Maerin's parents aren't really rich but they were above an above average household and was able to provide for maerin without her having to work for her own allowance.
although, her parents always wanted to give her the best so she wouldn't have anything to worry about as she was still young and studying, maerin still wished to go out and experience the world so she took up a part-time job as a salesperson in a skincare shop that was in the plaza nearby her campus.
maerin's neighbors - who are her parent's best friends - have two sons named lee taesun and lee taemin. with their parents who had been friends since either of them were born, they grew up together and were life-long best friends. taemin and maerin got a long better due to the smaller while taesun had always been with his own group of friends but always looked out for maerin and taemin.
lifestyle. on a weekday she would attend classes from 10am up till 3pm then she'd go on to her part-time job from 4pm to 9pm. taemin normally walks her home claiming it is too dangerous for her to walk alone eventhough it was only a 15 minute walk. not that maerin minded though. she loved spending time with him. sometimes they'd have dinner together at a restaurant, maerin's house or taemin's house.
on the saturdays she either spends her time doing assignments but if she's free taemin likes to take her out for some enjoyment. as a medical student, classes get mentally tiring and with part-time work on top of that. he always declared when she needed a break because sometimes she'd overwork herself and look like a walking corpse. on sundays their families attend church together and the she goes about the rest of her day either spending time with her family, resting or finishing off assignments.

personality. maerin is bubbly and sociable person who loves to have fun, talk and act silly. she can be very childish when she's playing around, but she can be mature when the situation calls for it. growing up with 2 older siblings that were both 9 and 10 years older than her, taught her to act maturely from a young age. but a child will always be a child.

maerin is very sensitive in terms of watching movies / listening to music / hearing someone's sad story. she cries watching dramas, movies, cartoons, listening to music, hearing someone's sad life story, seeing a friend she hasn't seen in a long time. sometimes its tears of joy, some times its tears of sympathy / empathy, but all in all, she's just really sensitive.
she's fast learner which allows her to do well in school but she can be pretty lazy which sometimes leads her to procrastinate a lot on with her school work and rush to get things done on the weekends when the assignment is due on monday.
although maerin is actually a really happy person, she has a surprisingly short temper and can't stand when someone acts to her in a way which is very rude or unfriendly. she believes that if she treats you nice, you should at least be neutral, not rude. Also, when someone takes her stuff without telling her or asking for permission. (she also secretly gets mad at girls lingering around taemin)

dreamcatcher tattoos which actually symbolizes how when either one of them had a bad dream, one would call the other and they'd talk or even go for a walk if it weren't too late. taemin would normally pat her head and give her a hug or sing over the phone to 'chase the bad dreams' while maerin would sing for taemin (who rarely ever had any bad dreams).

- maerin's dad is a very loving man who always gives maerin a big bear hug at the end of most days. her other siblings grew up not being very fond of hugging their parents but maerin never grew out of it. she is very family-oriented
- maerin and her dad share a similar sense of humor. when donghun is telling dad jokes which nobody thinks is funny by the end of it you'd normally see maerin burst out laughing. people thinks she's lame in that sense, but she always believeD, the easier you are amused, the more happy your life will be.
yang cheng lin ; mother
- similarly maerin also gives her mom a loving hug and kiss at the end of most days. because of a packed schedule of school and work, even though they live in one house, its hard to see each other's face more than 3 houRS ON A WEEKDAY.
- maerin loves helping her mom cook when she has time on the weekends although she can't do much due to her skin condition, she tries to do everything she can in the kitchen to spend quality time with her mom.

- SHE'S ALWAYS GLUED TO HER COMPUTER AND BARELY EVER STUDIES. SHE'S A CULINARY MAJOR IN A VOCASIONAL SCHOOL AND SHE LOVES EATING A LOT. MOST OF THE TIME SHE COOKS FOR THE FAMILY TO PRACTICE HER SKILLS.

if he went over for dinner, he'd always wash her dishes because she had sensitive skin that couldn't come in contact with soap that wasn't natural. she also hated wearing gloves when doing the dishes because her hands sweat a lot.
both maerin and taemin both love skinship, whether it was just the light touch when sitting next to each other or hugging. but maerin is unusually very ticklish. taemin liked to a lot and attempt to tickle attack her.
taemin always gave his potatoes to maerin, knowing it was her favourite and they loved taking derpy pictures together on every one of their adventures.
after learning about being each other's soulmates, things had gotten a little weird although maerin was really estatic that her best friend and crush was actually her soulmate, but she didn't know how taemin felt.
