Move Album Overview

Hullo! I haven't been very active on AFF these days and I notice there just hasn't been much activity on here in general. But I woke up at 5am today with nothing to do, so I thought I would just do this album overview like I'd done for the View album way back when it came out. This album has been out for a good while now so an overview this late might be useless but I thought why not? So here we go.

Disclaimer!
This overview is purely my OPINION and what I think of this album. Songs I like, you may not and vice versa. I just hope everyone can enjoy listening to the songs and sharing thoughts.

If you'd like to, do leave your thoughts in the comments so we can fangirl/discuss together! And maybe mention if you'd like for me to do more of these overviews on past/future albums.

1. Rise (My favourite)

This track reminds me a lot of Soldier with the piano and soft tones with slow build. It's really just a beautiful song with amazing lyrics and it really showcases Taemin's unique vocals. The song speaks of following after love and growing to reach it. It has the slight sadness to it, while it is more emotional in a sense of growth. The vocal runs and overlapping adlibs really just bring his voice to life because he does have lighter vocals. A trend I notice for myself is how much I love his slower songs, like Play Me (ACE album) and Soldier (Press It album). They're all great and I think that Rise is a phenomenal song. Possibly because of how much I love Soldier and Play Me, this song really just hit me really hard and it's easily my favourite from this album. If you guys like more piano, slow tempo and build ups, this song is for you. If you 3 and a half minutes to spare, do look up the song and lyrics, you won't regret. If you have more time and you like this song, look up Soldier and Play me too.

2. Move (Title Track)

When I first heard this song, I'll be honest, I was shooketh! But this song didn't disappoint. It was rather different from what I would have imagine from the title alone. But before I knew it, I was addicted to the song. It's a ver mid tempo song with sultry vocals but a more synth slightly retro beat. I'm not very well versed in musical terms but from just listening you obviously get a very alluring song. The lryics of this song describes a person's beauty. It's like a song that, in detail, speaks of someone dancing and the singer admiring her. Next, the dance was a slight shock to me too, because it was very different from Taemin's usual style and I know a lot of people were let down by it, but I was really intrigued by how he meant for it to showcase a dance that didn't discriminate gender. I liked that the dance flowed well with the song. Instead of feeling disappointed by it, I think I really appreciated how the dance and the music really matched each other, rather than him trying to bring his power into a song that just didn't have that oomph for it. All in all, I enjoy this song and dance with the duo dance video being my favourite out of the 3 MVs he released for this title track.

3. Love (50 Shades)

Another piano intro. Taemin's voice along with the sound of a piano honestly just pierces my heart. This song, unlike Rise, is stronger vocal wise with a more dark feel. If I had to say, it reminds me of the song I heard in the trailer for 50 Shades of Grey. While Rise is more emotional song, Love is heart wrenching song. The lyrics and the tone all convey that desperation. It speaks a love that left one broken and it just leaves them lost and longing. If you take one look at the lyrics you'd get what I mean. It's really heartbreaking. If you like very heavy songs with deep piano and strong vocals, this song would honestly be good. Right off the bat, this song hit me. It is not my kind of style in all honestly, but after listening to it twice it started to grow on me. I don't know if I'm remembering wrong but the first time I heard this was at Taemin's Off-Sick concert. It was a spoiler to this album, since the concert was before the release of Move. Is that why it hit me hard when I heard it in the album? I can't remember (its been a long while), but yes. I love this song too.

4. Thirsty (Baby making)

THIS SONG HOHO. JUST LOOK AT THE LYRICS. SOMEONE GIVE THE BOY WATER, HE'S THRISTY. I love this song, mhmm. If you like those songs with synth beats and sultry vocals with y lyrics, say no more. This song is for you. It's really good just for listening too. The beat of it actually reminds me of a rap track. But with Taemin's y vocals, he transforms it. It's amazing. I honestly can't say much for this song. It gives me too many FEELS because I also saw this live at his concert TuT. Okay, enough words. Let me just bless you with this.

5. Crazy 4 U (Least favourite)

This song is my least favourite to be very honest. It's got this weird drop with messy synth beats. Though I enjoy the lyrics, the music in and on it's own is not my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong, I like synth beats but when things get too messy it's not really enjoyable for me. That's just a personal preference. With what I've said for this song you can see I'm not biased with my reivew, hahaha. I think I've said all I can for this song. I guess you have to listen to see if you really do like it for yourself.

6. Heart Stop (ft. Seulgi of RV)

Now this track is also lower on my list. It's just not a favorable genre in my books. Similarly to Crazy 4 U, it's a bit messy with several differents tones to the verse, pre-c and chorus which disrupts the listening experience for me. This song also doesn't really complement Taemin's voice in my opinion. Seulgi can pull it off but overall it doesn't catch my attention and it doesn't leave me wanting to hear it on repeat.

7. Back To You (High ranker)

Back to higher up on my list! We got ourselves an acoustic track everybody! I love it so much you don't even know~ It's a true acoustic with the guitar staying prominent all through out (because it's the only instrument) the song and it really just complements Taemin's quiet vocal style so well. This song is easily one of my favourites, with lyrics that speak of longing for one's lover and wanting to go back to them. One complaint I have about it though, is how much of an echo there is but aside from that I really do enjoy this song and I hope that if you like soothing vocals and a simple acoustic song that you give this song a listen!

8. Stone Heart (Done right)

This song, unlike Crazy 4 U or Heart Stop, is the kind of synth I enjoy. It's got a strong beat that stands out with a build to the different layers in the song instead of jumping from one beat to another. It has a good flow and its more suitable to Taemin's voice as well. It's got this deep house feel which I really enjoy so I came to really like this song~ It's not my top favourites but worth a listen if you like mellower tracks with little to no build. Or at least its not an extreme build.

9. Flame of Love (Kor. Ver)

I can tell you that I LOVE THIS SONG. But I much prefer the Japenese ver to the Korean one. The music is soooo oriental Japanese and Taemin's sweet vocal literally just brings life to this track. It's one of my favourites and the perfect way to finish album. I don't know if I've ever shared anywhere but Taemin's Japanese releases are some of my favourite songs of all time. Sayonara Hitori is my everything! Flame of Love still doesn't take over the spot of Sayonara Hitori but its up there on my list. If you like anime OPs you will like this song and the lyrics are really pretty as well. Check it our if you think it's something to your liking. Honestly, such a good song that it deserves a listen (while reading the lyrics if you don't understand maybe) before you just decide you don't like it whatsoever.

THE END!

That's it for my overview of Taemin's Move album!
