WHO'S THAT BOY?

Personality traits: (+ Optimistic, Determind, and Sassy, )(- Socially Inept, Single-minded, and Sassy.)
Full Personality:
Il Sung has always done his best to greet life with a smile. He spent a fair amount of his childhood moving around so he had to start over constantly. He started each day of school with a smile and greeted everyone happily. Some people were put off by this because no one could be that happy all the time and maybe they were right, but that didn't stop him. Even as life started to weigh on him more he decided that it would be easier to deal with if he continued to smile. He understands that life isn't bright sunshine at all times, but he figures that being sad won't give him better results than his current attitude.

While he's usually bright and friendly enough he has trouble reading people. He doesn't always read situations well and he's known for sticking his foot in his mouth often. He has trouble expressing himself at times as well, so he tends to make up or this with pure sass. He covers up his social inadequacy with humor and confidence without being a jerk about it. He does find it difficult to let people know he cares about them without resorting to humor. It's safe to say he hasn't dated a great deal. People often don't take him seriously when he tries to express his affection since he expresses himself with humor.

He can be both great and terrible to work with. He dedicates himself to a task and gets things done efficiently. He does well in academic settings due more to hard work than natural intelligence. He does his best to do things well and sometimes this leads to mild perfectionism. His main problem is that he tends to be single-minded. When he gets an idea into his head he'll work to complete it, but he's often oblivious to everything else. It's hard to pull him away from a project once he's started. Food is often a good way to do this.

Il Sung is a fairly caring individual overall. He wants to have faith in others even when it seems he shouldn't. He throws himself into things he cares about, and he completes them to the best of his abilities. He doesn't like to give up on projects or on people. If only he was able to properly show it.

History: Ryu Il Sung would be the first to admit that his childhood was fairly unusual. He was born in London, England to a single father. They moved every few years at first. He was sure it was part of his father's job and didn't question it. It was easy enough to make new friends and adapt when it was only every few years. Then they started to move every other year and shortly after it became every year. He started to struggle more in school causing him to study extensively on his own. He also had more trouble making friends. It was difficult to get close to people when he wasn't going to be there very long, but without them he felt lonely. He did his best to join a club or two, but it wasn't as easy as he expected. He still tended to spend a lot of time by himself. He spent more time reading or learning about new subjects. He had to keep himself caught up with the other kids in his class, and he wound up being farther ahead of a great deal of them. He manage to bond with some classmates over books, but he found through his club hopping that he loved the theater department as well. He liked the fact that he could get up on the stage and become anyone. He could touch the hearts of strangers in jut a few hours and that made him happy. It was also exciting to see classic plays come to life. He balanced his time between school work and his new love of theater since his father was always at work. Even as they started to move even more frequently he found that he could still help with productions. They always needed help with painting sets, fixing costumes, or doing hair. He wasn't as good at those things, but he did his best.

On his twelfth birthday Il Sung and his father returned to London for the first time in several years. Mr. Ryu promised Il Sung that he would make the birthday unforgettable. In a way he did. They had just finished with a nice birthday dinner out when the police arrived to arrest Mr. Ryu. As it turned out he had been embezzling money from his work places since before Il Sung was born. After Mr. Ryu was sentenced Il Sung was sent to South Korea to live with his grandparents. He had learned some Korean from his father, but not enough to prepare him to live in a Korean city. He found it difficult to adjust at first, but he poured his time into learning Korean so he could interact with his new classmates. He encouraged his learning by thinking of all the literature that became available to him after he learned Korean. His life seemed uneventful for a while since he stayed in one place and did all the normal things a student his age did. Overall he seemed to adjust well enough all things considered. Il Sung did his best to move on with his life and the counseling he received helped him to some extent. When he had a rough day he was good at faking normalcy around his grandparents so they wouldn't worry. He knew they worried about him. He didn't think much about it until he recieved a letter from his father. It wasn't until then that he realized that he wasn't really as okay as he thought. He knew that his father loved him, but he had to do his time. He wasn't sure if forgiveness was more helpfull for his father or for him.

Il Sung wasn't surprised when his grandparents insisted that he apply for Yong Academy at the age of fifteen. His grandfather was a teacher there and he knew the school would be able to look after him. Il Sung was given the option between testing for art or academics. It was here that he decided that while he liked theater it was something he liked to do without being expected to be good at it. He would prefer to pusue his love of literature first. He managed to get accepted and he moved on campus for the next few years.

Family:
Father | Ryu Chang Sung | 42 | Prisoner |  Hardworking, Caring, Deceptive | Chang Sung and Il Sung got along well when they saw each other. Now Chang Sung wants to rebuild a relationship with his son because he knows he's done the wrong thing and he doesn't want his son to suffer for it.
Grandmother | Park Seung Ah | 66 | Nurse | Optimistic, Loyal, and Passionate | Seung Ah and Il Sung are rather close and she looks after him like the mother he never knew.
Grandfather | Park Min Woo | 68 | Painting teacher at Yong Academy | Strict, Creative, and Patient | Min Woo and Il Sung understand each other even if they tend to get along less than Seung Ah and Il Sung. Area of Study: Academic, Literature- He fell in love with literature when he was on the move as a child. If you ask him to read your favorite book he'll show up the next day with an essay detailing the majoy themes of the novel, the author's biography, and so many notes in the book it's like he wrote another novel. He leans more towards writing, but he likes technical writing more than creative.

School Activities:
- English tutoring, since he's fluent in English he helps other students study for their English classes. He mostly does it because it looks good. He doesn't think he's cut out to be a teacher.
- A Writer for the "Yong News and Times", Il Sung wanted to explore new activities closer to his area of interest. He could expand his talents and meet more people. If only he wouldn't push the editor's buttons so much.

What are your goals in Yong Academy?: "Most people assume that I want to be a novel writer, but I'd rather do that on the side. My goal is actually to get into a good University and eventually become a speech writer. The writing skills or more important than the degree here, but I want to change the world one perfectly writen speech at a time."
